In the next two minutes, the score board barely went up any points. Most people would say that the two players playing one-on-one were bad players, if the players were normal. You all know that this isn't the case with the cousins facing each other. The squeak of sneakers was erratic and the speeds of the two players made them seem like they were both track stars instead of basketball players.
You could basically see the gold and red flashes moving around the gym.
Misaki and Kagami are sprinting around the gym, maneuvering around their teammates. Misaki's teammates were exchanging astonished looks. Never before had any of them seen the ace of their team move so fluidly and fast. Or anyone, for that matter.
Kagami's team, although they had seen him in this state before, was frozen. It was like watching two gods battling each other. It seemed that no human is skillful enough to see them.
The two teenagers aren't teens anymore. They are pros that have been training for years just for this one match. The tension is so thick in the gym that it seems like you can barely breathe. The sparks between the boy's eyes and the girl's eyes grew into fire facing lightening.
Misaki stole the ball from Kagami's hands and dribbled down the court. She got close to the net and shot the ball. She sprints back to the other goal, knowing that her cousin would either stop the ball or grab the ball as it came down form the net. The instincts for both of the players are on overdrive. The strategies that normal people would have to think about and practice became instinctual, causing the two relatives to speed around the room.
Kagami was almost halfway across the court, but Misaki was already in a defense position in his line of sight. Misaki made a quick grab for the ball. Kagami shot to the side and dunked. Misaki was at Kagami's height in the air, astounding the audience. Misaki blocked the ball and stole it as soon as she hit the ground. She flung the ball like her arm was a sling-shot. Hitting the backboard, it somehow went into the net.
That looks like Dai-chan's free throw! Momoi as gaping like a fish, and Crystal felt a surge of pride when she saw Aomine's eyebrows raise.
Kagami, determined to get the last point in the few ten seconds that they had, grabbed the ball. He ran to the other side and dunked successfully. Misaki was a little mad that she couldn't block it, but decided that her cousin had gotten better. She would one-up him later to deflate his ego size if she needed to.
All too soon, the buzzer went off. Everyone had to stop themselves from groaning. Just when things were getting interesting, time had run short. The score was 75-51 in Sekai's favor.
"Kagami, this all happened because you were thinking too hard! What did I say about thinking?" Misaki teased.
"Shut up! I have to think to stay alive! I'll beat you next time!" Kagami countered, glaring.
"I'm looking forward to it, Taiga." Misaki smiled, the lips twisted into a sinister grin. "For now, though, you need to come with us and eat. We don't have food ready, so we'll just eat out. You can try to out eat me there."
Crazy. This girl is definitely crazy. Seido's team thought, sweatdropping.
"Then, I'm coming along!" Ayumu said, glomping his friend's back. Misaki stumbled a bit from her center of balance being thrown off.
"I'll come, too. It's not everyday that I get so see someone that can match Misaki's appetite." Minga said with Haru nodding along with him.
"Misaki's going to get beaten. Just like last time." Crystal said in a factual tone. Misaki pretended to pout at her. She then grinned.
"I don't know. I didn't have breakfast and I had a very light lunch."
Because everyone was so interested in watching the two cousins declaring challenges, the restaurant was packed with burly young men. Crystal was complaining about how her two cousins were the dorkiest people she had ever met. She had even said, to the amusement of the people near her, that their sole purpose in life was to annoy her and embarrass her in the most horrible ways.
Even Aomine, who was dragged along by Momoi, was laughing when Misaki had challenged Kagami to race down the street.
Yeah, it was a good day. The sky was a beautiful mix of orange, red, yellow, and pink colors. Misaki was grinning along with her cousin and their companions. Kagami had won the competition with thirty-three burgers to Misaki's thirty, but it still had been fun to see everyone's eyes widened when they realized that Misaki could truly eat.
Just when Misaki had exited the store, she heard a voice of someone that she truly hoped she would never see again.
"Misaki? Is that you?" Misaki felt cold sweat run down her neck. Chills ran up and down her spine, and Kagami stepped in front of her as if he could shield her with just his body and all would be well. Honestly, Kagami wished for nothing more at the time.
"Jake." Misaki whispered, surprising the new friends that she had made by sounding so broken.
Because I am feeling mean right now (and I honestly don't have the story for Misaki and Jake all sorted out for all of you), I will stop here. I love all of you guys who followed and favorited my story and I hope that you will keep on enjoying it. Thanks for reading!
