Yay, update~! I would have uploaded this sooner but I was busy babysitting my nephew for the past few days. (I slept over for a while.) Surprise surprise- I finished more work in there than I did my own house!
THANK YOU FOR THE REVIEWS THOUGH YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I WAS
Seriously though, whenever I feel down, I just look at all the reviews you guys wrote and I laugh until I cry. You really didn't expect that last bit and I'm laughing so hard cuz I literally got a message from a fan going "WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED" and that was just beautiful.
And while I was babysitting my nephew I was watching some MMDs for SnK (Wave) when my three year old nephew decided it looked really cool and tried to copy Eren and Levi's dance instead of watching Barney and I'm crying and laughing at the same time. For the rest of the day we watched SnK MMDs because if I even tried to reach for the remote to change it he would give me the look.
How he is not actually my child, the world will never know.
Warnings: I don't know actually, you should probably watch out for everything.
Ienari had always loved his Tsuna-nii the most, more than Papa or Mama or anyone else. Tsuna-nii was his favorite person in the entire world, the only one who understood him. Tsuna-nii always tried his best, no matter what happened and he would always, always protect Na-kun. He protected him from Mama's tears and the neighbors and the shadows under his bed, so that's why Ienari was going to be his knight in shining armor, the one who was always by his side.
And when school started, he didn't care how many people told him Tsuna-nii was no good because he wasn't. Tsuna-nii was the best, strongest, most amazing person in the entire world and it didn't matter if no one else could see that because Na-kun could and that's what mattered. So he ignored them and laughed with Tsuna-nii, foolish and naïve. Of course somebody would realize Tsuna-nii's amazingness. There's no way Ienari was the only one; that's why he had to do this or else Tsuna-nii would leave him and forget him forever. Kage-san told him so, and Kage-san was never wrong.
He used to be afraid of Kage-san before, but now he knew that it was only because he was a little kid. And Nari was all grown up now and he knew the truth. After, even Tsuna-nii had said not be afraid of the shadows; he said that the shadows were their friends. Kage-san only wanted what was best for him and he was looking out for Nari-that's why he hurt Nagi-chan. If he didn't, Tsuna-nii would have left Nari, and that's why he hurt her. Kage-san wasn't trying to be mean, he was only protecting Nari and Tsuna-nii. His sweet Tsuna-nii thought she reason she never came again was because she didn't like him, but Nari knew better. She could see the real Tsuna-nii that no one else bothered to look at, and even though it kind of made Nari happy that someone else saw Tsuna-nii like him, Kage-san had to get rid of her. If she kept playing with Tsuna-nii, his precious aniki would have left him forever.
That summer, Nari opened his eyes-things change, and he had to certain things-even if they were bad-to make sure the things he loved stayed his, that Tsuna-nii and Mama and even Papa would always stay by his side. So he did everything Kage-san told him to, even if it meant ignoring his aniki and letting him get hurt by others. At first, it was really hard. He wanted to comfort his Tsuna-nii, tell him that he didn't really hate him, that it was just a mistake. He wanted to yell at those who hurt his most important person, make them feel pain like Tsuna-nii felt.
Kage-san helped him though, just like always. He put a spell on Nari so that it wouldn't hurt to see Tsuna-nii break and even made the bullies do really bad things to speed it up. That way, Tsuna-nii would hurry up and realize that he could trust nobody but Nari, that no one else loved Tsuna-nii more than Ienari. So if it meant hurting Sasagawa-san and Kurokawa-san, it didn't matter. He would do anything for Tsuna-nii, anything at all. And since he had Kage-san, nothing could go wrong.
Stroking a picture of himself and his Tsuna-nii, a soft smile spread over his face.
"I'm sorry for being so mean, Tsuna-nii," he whispered gently to the beaming face. "But I promise, things are changing. Now you can come back to me. You don't need anyone else if you have me, right? I'll get rid of anyone who gets in our way, and that way we can be together forever just like you promised."
"I love you, Tsuna-nii."
Noticing the thin slivers of light slipping between his shades, he slipped under the covers and placed the photo next to his head carefully, a smile on his face as he fell into slumber once more. In the furthest corner of the room, 'Kage-san' chuckled evilly, eyes flashing in the shadows.
"And it's because of that I was able to do this," he whispered amusedly. "I do thank you for that, Ienari-kun."
And with that, he melded into the shadows once more and disappeared, leaving only the echo of a laugh behind him.
There's a tale told to all angels and demons alike-a tale of romance, adventure, and sadness. The tale of the Lady of the Moon and the Prince of the Sun, star-crossed lovers. It is an old tale, but not one thought of lightly. All respect the story of the two who tried to connect their worlds, no matter what their feelings on the pair's actions. It is a tale that gives hope to those who wait in bed and wish upon stars, the story of those like them who strived for more.
And it all began with an angel blessed by God himself.
With eyes of the most vibrant red and hair white as snow, the angel known as Luna was one of the loveliest. Her heart was more than pure gold; it was the entire world in a woman and a personality worth more than any jewel. As if to prove that she was more than just an angel, her back bore wings of the brightest white that encompassed her figure, glowing wherever she may have been and leaving those behind her in awe. All angels knew only those who were destined for great things spread wings, and none had come near her feathered magnificence.
Her wings were not the only proof of greatness in this angel; her flames were the purest orange, a trait only those who were truly the embodiment of the sky could hold. She inspired all others with her energetic nature and kind deeds, but she was known best for the one thing many considered to be her downfall: she had wanted to meet a demon.
Long before men were created and curiosity bit the apple of temptation, angels and demons had never mixed. It was an unwritten rule, but one that even the most daring of rulebreakers followed. Luna, however, didn't believe the stories of horror and gore that she was told and no matter how much others insisted on her leaving this obsession behind, she continued to try and learn more about their counterparts. She said that if God had created them, then they were created with a purpose-and surely God wouldn't have created something so terrible? When she said this with such a bright, eager smile, they slowly started to believe in her quest, some of them even joining her in her journey for more than just Heaven.
This included her best friend and cousin, the Princess of Light herself-Lady Stella. She wished only the best for her dear cousin, and while she never encouraged her in her work verbally, she continued to remain the best of friends anyone could ask for. The two cousins were the closest of angels-nothing could come between them, not even the Kind of Inferno himself if he wished. And so she told Luna; no matter what she chose to do, if she did somehow manage to find a way, the princess would support her.
And the Lady Luna did it. She found a way to the other side, a way to learn more about these demons she'd worked so hard to see and understand; she found a portal.
It was seemingly innocent, a little blip at the very edge of Heaven, a tear in the barrier between Inferno and Cielo- a slipstream between hell and heaven. When she went through, she was transported to a similar forest in Inferno, falling from the sky like a shooting star. And that was when she met him; the Crown Prince of Inferno, the pride of all demonkind, Prince Sol. With hair as black as darkest shadows and eyes of a burning orange only found in the royal line, he stared at this shining beauty who'd fallen from the sky with surprise, his own black wings spread out wide behind him.
For you see, he too was the same. He had craved knowledge about these beautiful creatures of light that his people sang about, wanted to see for his own eyes if their high praises were the truth.
And they were, for the most beautiful being he had ever seen lay in front of him, covered in dirt and leaves and wonderfully glorious all the same. His parents and friends had all told him the same thing-that angels considered themselves too high and pure to interact with beings like demons and to give up on his ambitions. And that was their first meeting; an accident in a forest too far for anyone to notice and identical thoughts running through both their minds.
They'd done it.
And so, when the shock had faded and the prince had regained himself, he helped her up and for the first time in the history of creation-an angel met a demon and a demon saved an angel.
Nights of laughter and excited chatter passed in that wonderful forest, the two exchanging secrets and stories in the darkness of the trees. She told Stella-she never thought not to. And her best friend, her wonderful other half, kept her secret and when Luna fell in love with Sol-when her best friend discovered the joys of love-she supported her with all her heart.
When she first met the demon who had stolen her sister in all but blood's heart, none of them expected for her to accept him as easily as she had. Princess Stella treated him like family and her cousin could ask for no more. However, this peace was not meant to last.
When the two proposed joining Inferno and Cielo to prove to their people that they could live together peacefully and happily, the princess shook her head sadly. She knew that neither kind would take kindly to it, and told them the sad truth. She could the harsh understanding in their eyes, that they would be considered traitors and shunned by the people they loved. But they were not to be beaten down so quickly. They thought that maybe, with the humans help, it could work.
God had found out.
They fought to prove their sincerity and love for each other, but it was for naught. God grew furious. Someone had dared go against his rules and turn his own creations against him?! As if to mock him, his most wonderful creations bit into the apple of temptation and fell to Earth, banned from his holy domain forever more in their task to help the two lovers. As punishment for disobeying his rules and ruining his creations, he had chosen to destroy them in front of both worlds, to show that his rules were absolute. Once word reached the princess, she immediately rushed to Castle of Light and begged for his mercy towards her precious cousin and her lover. She offered up her own life in return for theirs if it meant so, and God, struck by the sincerity in her prayers, granted her wish and took her life.
He turned them into what the humans would come to admire and detest at the same time, theories of their existence and brilliance brought into light over time. Like his eyes, Sol burned as a bright orange star, his flames forever strong as Luna became the moon, both shining over the humans they had tarnished for eternity. The princess joined them in their melancholy, becoming the stars that spread over the skies and space so that they would not be alone.
And such was their punishment, to be separated forever and watch as the people they'd doomed to Earth grew and died, loved and hated, fall to ruin and come into creation. They were destined to carry the burden forever and when the pain became too much, the princess, in her selfless wish for their survival, let another piece of herself go. To angels and demons, however, they did not appear the same as on Earth. In Inferno, Sol never shone once over his people, the Lady Luna burning a bright red over the people she'd come to love so much-just like her eyes. In turn, Sol watched over those who'd destroyed his love and life, watching with great bitterness-and sometimes the angels could a faint shadow in the shape of wings unfold over them threateningly while he burned bright in the sky.
To this day, they still rose and set, the three hanging above forever and ever. Unknown to many, just before she'd joined her cousin and Sol to twinkle in the skies with a gentle light, Princess Stella foretold of a boy who would change all the worlds forever.
For better or worse.
He would have eyes brighter and fiercer than even the prince of Inferno and one wing of pure white, the other wing as black as the first was pure. And beside him would be her own descendant, born completely of light with eyes that were passed on in her line-violet eyes full of the possibilities.
And so, as they twinkled and shone, the three of them waited patiently for the two boys who would change the balance of the universe.
Tsuna woke up slowly, eyes trying to blink away his hazy morning vision and mouth stretching into a quiet yawn. He lay on the futon for a moment, still in the process of waking up when the light filtering through the window seemed to shock him into a complete awakening. Gasping in surprise, he shot up as he remembered last night's events. Looking around frantically, he felt a small smile spread across his face at the sight of a snoring Takeshi laying beside him and sighed in relief, thanking God it wasn't just a really nice dream. He giggled as Takeshi snorted in his sleep and snuggled deeper into the blanket, continuing to watch with a tiny grin as happy little butterflies flew around in his chest.
After the phone call, he and Takeshi had spent a while working on the math problems the boy had been having trouble with and when the time came to sleep once more, Tsuna couldn't bring himself to spend what would seem like forever without his newly made friend. It seemed Takeshi had read his mind though because he had grinned at his father and told the older Yamamoto that the both of them would be sleeping together in his room, his father agreeing readily with a laugh.
Takeshi had argued long and hard about who would sleep on the bed, insisting that Tsuna was sick and needed to recover while Tsuna countered by saying that sleeping on the floor could make him sick. In the end, Tsuna-in a rare fit of exasperation-simply tugged them both down to the floor and snuggled into the covers, saying that they would both sleep on the floor and it was final. With a grin on his face, the other boy complied readily and the both of them fell asleep within minutes with hidden smiles on their faces.
Simply taking a minute to let his heart flutter in happiness, Tsuna giggled once more out of sheer joy before slipping out with a grin on his face. He couldn't wait until Takeshi woke up, and then-and then, they would go have Mama's pancakes and maybe, just maybe Nari would be in a good mood! Busy with his thoughts, he didn't notice the hand creeping under the blankets towards his feet until it yanked him forwards, Tsuna screaming in surprise.
"I'm sorry," Takeshi laughed as he shook under the covers, trying to hold back the others from spilling forth, "but you were just standing there so innocently! Gomen, Tsuna!"
Panting, Tsuna's eyes widened as he realized what had happened, mouth snapping close before he pouted. Takeshi had yanked him!
"That wasn't f-funny. I g-got really s-scared," he complained to his friend, crossing his arms angrily and turning his head to the side.
"Maa, don't be like that Tsuna," Takeshi said with a grin, sitting up and crawling towards the brunet. "I said sorry, didn't I?"
Tsuna's pout deepened but he slowly nodded his head, looking back at Takeshi.
"J-Just don't do it anymore, o-okay?" he told him nervously, heart still beating fast in his chest from fright. Takeshi nodded energetically, his head bobbing up and down and causing Tsuna to giggle.
"Thanks, Tsuna! Oh, wow, we're up really early," he said as he noticed the clock on his bedside flashing the time. "This is the first time I've woken up before ten o'clock on a Saturday!"
"R-Really?" Tsuna asked curiously, tilting his head to the side. "I always w-wake up this early."
"Seriously?" Takeshi asked in amazement, eyes wide. "Wow, Tsuna!"
"I-It's nothing s-special," he stuttered, squirming in embarrassment. "I just l-like waking up e-early."
Takeshi grinned at him and ruffled his hair, surprising Tsuna, before standing up and stretching.
"Come on," he urged with a laugh as he walked out of the room, "my dad's probably up already. We should go wash up!"
"U-Un," Tsuna nodded, stumbling after him. They took turns using the bathroom and brushed their teeth (Tsuyoshi-san had given Tsuna a spare toothbrush) before going downstairs to see what the older Yamamoto was doing.
As it turned out, he wasn't alone. Standing on top of the sushi counter was a small baby dressed in traditional Chinese clothing, covered in red. On his shoulder was a small white animal, some sort of ferret or something. At first Tsuna had been confused, but a voice in the back of his head told him not to underestimate the child, and it had never been wrong before. He instinctively edged in front of Takeshi, back straightening as they approached the two-an action not unnoticed by his friend.
"Ah," Tsuyoshi said as he noticed the two children, "you're awake. Wow, Takeshi normally sleeps past ten on Saturdays."
"Right?" Takeshi laughed, slinging an arm around the brunet and causing Tsuna to squeak and flush. "Tsuna wakes up this early all the time though."
"Really?" Tsuyoshi asked, one eyebrow raised. "What kind of kid wakes up at seven-thirty on a weekend?"
Tsuna flushed and squirmed before shrugging sheepishly.
"I like to watch Mama cook?" he answered, a small smile working its way on his face at the familiarity of that sentence. His Papa used to say that too.
"Well then, since you're up, I should probably make some breakfast, huh?" Tsuyoshi asked cheerfully, turning to the stranger once more. "Oh, Fon, this is one of Takeshi's friends, Tsunayoshi."
The strange baby turned to the both of them and bowed, braid falling over his shoulder as he greeted them. "Hello, Tsunayoshi-san, Takeshi-kun."
As he rose out of his bow, Takeshi had just greeted him cheerfully when Tsuna gasped.
"H-Hibari-san?" he yelped, brown eyes wide. "Ehhh?!"
The baby started before smiling softly at the brunet, a small laugh escaping his lips.
"You've probably met my nephew then," he said softly. "Yes, I am a Hibari, but probably not the one you're thinking of, Tsunayoshi-san."
"O-Oh," Tsuna muttered, blushing at his mistake. Of course it wasn't Hibari-san! He was too young to be the Hibari he knew. But wait-nephew?! "It's j-just-you look a lot l-like him, so f-for a second I thought-are you r-really his u-uncle?"
Fon laughed and Tsuna's blush grew darker, the brunet kicking himself mentally for being so stupid.
"Yes, I am his uncle," he confirmed amusedly.
"R-Right," Tsuna muttered, resisting the urge to burrow his face into Takeshi's neck. God, this was so embarrassing! "H-He never t-talks about his family a-and stuff. I sh-should have guessed."
Fon raised an eyebrow at this, the smile on his lips widening as he leaned forward in interest. "Oh? You know my nephew personally?"
"Yup," Takeshi agreed, ruffling Tsuna's hair. "They're best friends!"
Tsuna spluttered in disagreement, arms flailing as his entire face turned beet red and steam rushed out of his ears.
"Uh, no, w-we're not friends-I mean, we are f-friends but we're n-not b-best friends-errr," Tsuna protested frantically before simply covering his hot face with his hands in defeat.
"Maa, maa, Tsuna," Takeshi soothed with a toothy grin. "It's alright to say you're best friends with him, you know. He even invited you to his house!"
"But-But," he started, giving in at the look on the black-haired boy's face.
"Best friends?" Fon echoed curiously, eyes wide. "You're best friends with Hi-kun? He invited you to the house?"
"Hi-kun?" Tsuna repeated out loud in shock before realizing he had been asked a question. "O-Oh, erm, y-yeah. He i-invited me over f-for his b-birthday. I-I was g-going to ask n-next time w-we had lunch together."
Fon stared at him in wonder before chuckling, shaking his head in awe of his fluffy-haired child who'd somehow managed to become friends with his volatile nephew. Maybe things weren't as bad as they seemed. He bowed once more in a show of thanks, a grateful smile on his face.
"Thank you for being his friend," he murmured softly.
"Y-You're welcome?" Tsuna squeaked, pushing his forefingers together before realization hit him. He ran into the kitchen where Tsuyoshi had went and waved his arms wildly.
"A-AH, Tsuyoshi-san," he yelled, his eyes wide with alarm. "P-Please don't make any food for b-breakfast! My mom invited y-you over to h-have pancakes with us when y-you drop me off!"
"Oh?" the sushi chef asked with a grin as he slowly set down the eggs he'd just taken out of the fridge. "Well, I'd hate to intrude."
"N-No, not at all," Tsuna responded, shaking his head resolutely. "M-Mama loves cooking for other p-people!"
"If you say so," the older Yamamoto trailed off, laughing when Tsuna sighed in relief and nodded. "Well then, why don't you and Takeshi go by yourselves? I have to open up in an hour or two and I have lots of work."
"Eh?" Takeshi asked his father in surprise, walking into the kitchen with Fon on his shoulder. "You're not coming with us, oyaji?"
Tsuyoshi laughed and ruffled his son's hair, winking at him. "An old man's gotta do work if he wants money."
"A-Are you sure?" Tsuna asked hesitantly, his eyes questioning.
"Don't worry," he reassured the brunet, "I'll be fine. I'll be glad to meet your mother some other day but for now, I have fish to deal with. Besides, Namimori's a small town. You won't find any trouble on the way there."
"Alright then," Takeshi said cheerfully as Fon jumped off his shoulder. "Come on, Tsuna, let's go change! I wonder what your mom's pancakes taste like?"
Tsuna nodded, bowing to the two adults before running upstairs after the amber-eyed boy. Fon watched him leave with a strange look in his eye.
"Still can't believe your anti-social nephew made a friend?" Tsuyoshi asked with a grin, leaning on the counter.
"No," he said honestly, turning to his old friend. "But I feel like if it was Tsunayoshi, he probably could."
"Yeah," the chef agreed, his smile widening. "Something about that kid just makes you want to get closer to him, you know?"
Fon hummed in agreement, the familiar image of a smiling woman wearing a huge, fluffy hat appearing in his mind.
"Yes, I believe I do," he whispered softly.
Upstairs, Tsuna stopped in the middle of putting on his orange hoodie as a funny thought entered his mind. He giggled, hunching over in sudden laughter and causing Takeshi's head to pop up from behind the door.
"What? What is it?" he asked curiously, staring at his friend.
"I just- I thought," Tsuna gasped in between his giggles, "what if Fon-san r-really was a baby v-version of Hibari-san or s-something? W-Without his b-braid, he would be just like a m-mini Hibari-san! A-And he would've been 'I'll bite you to death!' too!"
He burst into another fit of giggles once more, his cheeks flushed from laughter as Takeshi's eyes widened and he joined him. The two laughed for a long time, the image of a baby Hibari wielding tonfas and biting rule breakers to death too funny for them to bear.
Down below, the two adults exchanged looks at the sounds of laughter coming from upstairs before Tsuyoshi grinned at his friend with a carefree look.
"Kids'll be kids," he said cheerfully before flipping the omelet on the stove. "Now, what would you hear about? Oh, your nephew came into the restaurant the other day..."
FYI: The word 'kage' literally translates to shadow in Japanese, a fitting name. Also, Fon's entrance is kind of important but not for a long time so yeah, no need to worry yet. In the middle bit, this story is actually important and will have to do with various things later in the plot/story. I chose the names Luna and Sol because they are the actual names of the sun and moon and 'Stella' translates to stars in Italian-I used quite a bit of Italian in this chapter actually. Both 'Inferno' and 'Cielo' are the Italian terms for Hell and Heaven. That story foreshadows quite a bit here to be honest.
Also, if you want to see my nephew dancing to Wave, I have the link right here. (Sorry if you don't have a tumblr)
