Shippo nodded rapidly and looked over at the little girl, he had always liked playing with her though so far there had been very few oppurtunities to do so. "Dont worry Kagome, I will make sure nothing happens to her!"
Kagome nodded and hugged him before rejoining the others, "We may be gone for a couple days so just stay here or at the village and we will find you when we return." She looked up at Sesshomaru, "Are you ready?" She asked.
Sesshomaru smiled down at her nervously, "I suppose I am as ready as I can be, I wonder what your family will think when it is me and not Inuyasha who is with you."
Kagome Shrugged, "Only one way to find out." She took his hand as he helped her onto the ledge of the well. She smiled reasurringly before jumping through. Sesshomaru shook his head slightly and followed as soon as she dissappeared through the well. When He climbed out on the other side Kagome was waiting for him near the door. "So this is the future...it doesn't smell as good as my time." He said as he walked over to her.
Kagome laughed, "Well there is a lot more polution in the air these days so I suppose it wouldn't smell the same." She opened the door and the evening light flooded in on them. "Come on, lets go to the house, my mom probably has dinner ready by now."
She took his hand and led him up the path a ways to her house and opened the front door. "Mom, Grandpa, Sota!" She called "I'm home!"
"Is that you Kagome!?" Her mother called "I'm just getting dinner on the table, you should come eat. Is Inuyasha with you?"
Kagome walked into the dining room still holding Sesshomaru's hand. "Inuyasha and I had a fight, I'm not travelling with him any longer, this is his older brother Sesshomaru. He was kind enough to take care of me after I hurt myself running away from Inuyasha and he has agreed to join me and the others in our quest. His brother however, is a stubborn idiot." She looked up at Sesshomaru and smiled, "Sesshomaru, this is my mother" She pointed out the old man and little boy at the table "That is my Grandpa and my little brother Sota."
Sesshomaru looked around as Kagome introduced him to her family, he saw the old man and the boy seated at the table and he could see where she got her looks from in her mother. "I am honored to meet you all, you have a beautiful home here, though I admit,
I am not sure what half of the things here are." He said nervously, he wanted them to approve of him so that it would not cause problems for Kagome.
Kagome's mother studied Sesshomaru and her daughter carefully, especially how their hands were still twined together and Kagome was subtly stroking her thumb over Sesshomarus hand reassuringly. She could tell there was something going on there, but she would have to wait till later to find out how serious it was. "Well I'm sorry to hear that you had such a bad falling out with Inuyasha honey but I am glad to meet your new friend. Why don't you two sit down and eat with us, there is plenty for everyone.
After dinner, Kagome, you can help me fix some food for you to take back with you, I know how your friends like my lunches.
Sesshomaru can get to know Sota and Grandpa while we work."
Kagome nodded and led Sesshomaru over to sit at the table, they ate and she talked with her family and it was a wonderful dinner,
but she knew her mother was planning on questioning her as soon as they went to the kitchen. When everyone was finished she stood up and began to help her mom clear the table, Sesshomaru hugged her and kissed her forehead lightly before she went into the kitchen. "That was a great dinner Mom, best I've had in a while."
Her mom smiled "I'm glad you liked it, seems Sesshomaru liked it as well, though he does have much better manners than his brother."
Kagome laughed, "Well it isn't exactly hard to have better manners than Inuyasha."
"I suppose thats true. So how serious are you about that man in there, and make no mistake, he is a man, Inuyasha was a child compared to him. What has happened between you and Inuyasha to cause a problem so big as to drive you away from him for good?
I thought you were quite fond of him?" Her mother asked.
Kagome sighed, "I was in love with Inuyasha, or I thought I was, but he never really cared about me. All he wanted was the jewel shards, and his dead priestess girlfriend. I just grew tired of being used and hurt by him and when I ran away I fell and hit my head, when I woke up I was in Sesshomaru's palace. I've grown to love him very much, and he loves me in return. I am very serious about him, I would give my life for him if it were needed, and he would do the same. We have only been together a short time, and he has been a perfect gentleman, he isn't pushing me or pressuring me so don't worry so much Mom. Sesshomaru is the most amazing man I've ever met, and in case you haven't noticed, I may be young in years but my experiences in the feudal era have made me into quite the young woman. I'm not a child anymore, at least not there."
They worked as they talked and sooon Kagome had a bag stuffed with food and snacks to take with her. "Thanks Mom, everyone is going to love this stuff, especially the candy for Shippo and Rin."
Her mom looked up "Who is Rin? I know Shippo is the little fox demon you look after but I've never heard you mention Rin before."
Kagome smiled, "I forgot to tell you I guess, Rin is Sesshomaru's ward, a human girl who saved his life once, now he looks after her. Shippo and Rin get along really well, they always have, even when Sesshomaru and I didn't."
Her mother nodded, "Well I will make sure to go through some of your old things while your gone and next time I can send some toys and clothes along for her." She hugged her daughter and sighed "I know you aren't a child anymore dear but I still worry,
it's my job to worry about you. Just be careful, I dont want to see you get your heart broken. Now take your demon and go get some sleep, you will want to head out early tomorrow."
Kagome hugged her mom and smiled "I love you Mom."
"I love you too honey." Her mom replied before sending her off so she could finish cleaning up the kitchen.
Kagome went into the living room to find Sesshomaru being taught to play video games by her little brother, he was not doing well but she could tell he was enjoying it. She came up behind him where he was seated on the couch and slipped her arms around his neck and leaned down to his ear. "We should head to bed soon if we are going to get an early start tomorrow."
Sesshomaru smiled and dropped the controller he was trying to figure out onto the couch, he turned his head and kissesd kagome lightly. "Your brother was just entertaining me with what he assures me is the best thing this era has to offer, though I think compared to you, nothing else here could interest me as much."
Sota looked back at his sister and Sesshomaru "Eeeeeeew, you never did stuff like that with Inuyasha." He said grossed out by the public display.
Sesshomaru laughed "Believe me. I am very glad to hear that Sota, and we will try not to do such things in front of you any more." He looked back at Kagome and stood up, letting her arms slide from his neck. "We will play again sometime Sota, I am determined to beat you at this game."
Kagome shook her head, boys and video games, she would never understand it. "Goodnight Sota, it was good seeing you. You will probably be gone to school when we leave tomorrow."
Sota nodded "Yeah, school blows. You will come home again soon right?" he asked. Though he would never admit it, he often missed his sister.
Kagome nodded "As soon as I can, promise." She hugged her brother and headed upstairs with Sesshomaru behind her. "I'm afraid you will have to sleep on the floor, my mom would freak if she found us in the same bed. I have plaenty of extra pillows and blankets though so it shouldn't be to uncomfortable." She said as she opened her bedroom door and turned on the light.
Sesshomaru wandered around her room looking at her things as she set to work making him a soft place on the floor. "That is about as good as it is going to get." She said when she finished.
Sesshomaru turned and looked at the bed she had made him, it looked a lot better than some he had slept in though nothing like his bed at home, he could smell her scent coming from the blankets though and that almost made it better than home. He went to her and pulled her close, smiling when she gasped. Slowly he bent his head towards hers untill their lips met and he kissed her,
softly at first and then deeper, exploring her mouth with his and tasting her. He loved the way she tasted, of honey and sweetness. Her arms came up around his neck and she melted into him and he purred softly. He knew he had to stop soon but he kept thinking just a little longer.
Kagome moaned softly as she melted into Sesshomaru, she had never been kissed like this, even when he kissed her before, it wasn't the same. Her hands slowly drifted down his back untill they reached the hem of his shirt and slid inside it and back up.
She stopped when she again felt those soft stripes on his side and she carressed them. He moaned softly for her and held her tighter. She gasped when his hands started to do some exploring of their own and slowly travelled up the back of her shirt and quikly figured out the latch on her bra. She pulled away and looked up at Sesshomaru, his eyes were hooded and dark with passion,
she was sure hers were as well. "We have to stop this Sesshomaru, we can't do this here, and I'm not even sure I'm ready to do this at all." She said softly, her voice shaking.
Sesshomaru shook his head to clear it. "Of course, You are right, I didn't mean to let it go that far, I'm sorry." He stepped back from her and let his arms drop to his side. "I love you Kagome, I don't want to rush you, or make you feel pressured into giving me something that you are not ready to part with." He sat down on the bed she had made for him and just looked up at her.
"I love you too. I don't feel pressured, honestly that felt amazing, but I have never done anything like this before. I just want to be sure, and I am sure I don't want it to happen here." She picked up some pajamas and went out the door and to the bathroom to change. When she returned she was much calmer and so was he. "Let's get some sleep, I have a feeling we will need it." They both fell asleep almost instantly and in their sleep, they found each others hands and held on.
