HOLY CRAP I AM A BAD FAN-FICTIONER.
Sorry everyone. Life just caught up with me. Working part time, going to college full time. I have to write a lot for school so my thought has been more on original content then on DBZ FF.
I only have one more chapter after this one, so this fanfiction is almost done. I was kind of stuck on what to do in this chapter, and then it hit me like a truck. I'm suppose to be doing some homework but I decided to finish this off. I don't want to give it away, but the character I write about I never actually seen before, so I kind of made it up. So if my view of him is off, I'm sorry.
Also I made a short about Chi-chi collecting the Dragonballs called Chi-Chi's wish. If you are bored go make your way there. :D Also sorry if my grammer sucks sometimes, for some reason I am horrible at editing my own pieces.
I don't own DBZ. Please review! Also thanks to all the reviewers! I promise this story will be done after this chapter!
Last time on The Wish:
Gokuu reached his hand behind the back of his head, "I mean, I know now that it was wrong of me to ask you to defeat Cell, but I also knew you were the only would that would be able too. If I could have defeated Cell, I would have, but I can admit that I shouldn't given him that senzu bean. That was stupid of me," Gokuu's eyes were serious as he stared into his son's eyes, "You act so mature and you are such a powerful warrior that I forget you are only a child. I'm sorry for putting that much responsibility on you."
"I didn't tell you this earlier, but I gathered the Dragonballs to try to make a wish to see you. I knew I couldn't wish you back, but I just wanted to see you for a while. When the Dragon couldn't grant the wish-," Gohan took a deep breath, as Gokuu stood up, taking a few steps towards his son, "I asked—I asked the Dragon," Gohan closed his eyes, shaking his fists, "I wanted to take your place, I want to be the one that died that day. It should have been me," Gohan turned around, his eyes narrowed at his father, "You shouldn't have been the one to die by my mistake, I wish it was me."
Gokuu's face soften, as he pulled his son into a hug. Gohan didn't respond at first, his eyes widen, confused on his father's change in emotion. The young boy put his arms around his father, breathing deeply. He missed his father's embrace.
"When you defeated Cell, Gohan, I couldn't have been more proud," Gokuu tighten his grip on his son, "I am so proud of you, and I knew I could stay here knowing that you are there at home protecting our family. I don't want you thinking that you should be here because The Other World isn't your place, your place is at home with our family."
The Wish
-Son Akito
Gohan couldn't help but to hold on to his father a little bit tighter. He didn't think his father would accept his feelings, but he had, and even though Gohan still felt like it should have been him instead, just saying it out loud made him feel better.
It made Gohan feel like his father was still with him, still on his side no matter what.
Gohan moved away slightly from his embrace, whipping his eye to make sure there were no tears.
Gokuu couldn't help but to smile at his young son. Gohan was so mature for his age that Gokuu often forgot how young he truly was. It was often hard for Gokuu to think of his son as a boy. Gohan carried himself like he was a full grown man, not the young teenager he really was.
Gokuu had spent most of his childhood alone, until he meet Bulma and his life changed. When his Grandfather died, it was hard for Gokuu to picture his life without him, yet Grandpa Gohan had taught him enough, and Gokuu was able to get by. Gokuu never spent much time thinking about his childhood, he thought about the adventures with Bulma, but he was a little younger then Gohan was now when that all started.
In fact, Gokuu wasn't even close to the level Gohan was at when he was his age. It was easy for Gokuu forget sometimes that Gohan is as young as he is.
Then the idea hit him; he knew his son would love it. He almost felt like an idiot for not thinking about it before.
"Hey Gohan," Gokuu grinned, he could hardly keep his excitement in check, "I know we don't have a lot of time left, but I want to take you to one more place before you go home."
Gohan looked surprised at Gokuu sudden overly excited expression, "Sure Dad, where are we going?"
"Just hold on tight, okay," Gokuu extended his hand out to his son.
Gohan glanced at his father's hand, and it almost brought him to a time before the fighting, it almost felt silly to hold his father's hand now, but Gohan's thought quickly faded away as soon as he placed his hand in his father's.
Within a split second, they vanished.
Reappearing before Gohan could catch his breath, the half saiyan widen his eyes at the new features. This place, it felt so surreal. The sky was a light purple; the grass was wild and bright. People were scattered everywhere, but they weren't really people.
Their top looked normal, but they didn't have any feet, it was like they were half a ghost. Gohan couldn't help but to stare at the people before him.
"When most people die, this is where they stay," Gokuu explained, "I was allowed to keep my body for everything I did on Earth and Namek."
"Oh," Gohan said, his eyes still fixated on the people. He wondered to a moment if he would be allowed to keep his body if he died. Even if he wasn't allowed too, it was nice that is father would be able to come visit him.
"There is someone I want you to meet," Gohan turned around to face his father, his curiously spiking. Gokuu couldn't help but to smile at his son's expression, "I think he'll love to meet you."
Gokuu, not letting go of his son's hand, started to walk. Gohan, not thinking twice about holding his father's hand, quietly followed next to him. For some reason, Gohan's heart was racing. He knew this person had to be important if his father wanted him to meet him. It was exciting!
They came across a big tree in what looked like a middle of a park. Next to the tree, there was a small lake. In a silly way, it reminded him of home.
There was an old man sitting by the water, he wasn't like the other people around him, he had his own body. He was short, Gohan could tell he would be a few inches taller then the man. He had small little eyes, white long mustache, he was wearing an outfit that was familiar to the area that he lived at on Earth, a mixture of orange and yellow, yet this outfit was slightly outdated. He had a hat similar to what Gohan had as a child, but instead of red it was green, and instead of the four star Dragonball resting on top, there was a white ball.
"Grandpa!" Gokuu yelled, waving his free hand over his head, the old man looked up, standing up from his spot from the tree.
Gohan's eye widen, he never thought in a million years that he would meet his father's grandfather. The same man he was named after. It was an honor.
Gokuu had to almost drag Gohan along to keep him moving. As he was getting closer, Gohan's smile started to brighten. He had heard some stories from his father about Great-Grandpa Gohan when he was very little; he heard it was a great man. The stories didn't come up as often as they did when he was older, but any time anyone mentioned Great-Grandpa Gohan to his dad, Gokuu lite up like a Christmas tree.
"Gokuu, my boy," Grandpa Gohan walked up to Gokuu, and gave him a hug. Gokuu let go of Gohan's hand to embrace his Grandfather, when he was done; he turned his attention to his son.
"Grandpa, there is someone I would like you to meet." Gokuu placed his hand on Gohan's shoulder, "This is my son, Gohan."
Gohan was a boy of manners; he stood straight, his hands softly placed in front of him. He looked over at his Grandfather with a smile of admiration and wonder. Gohan bowed at his elder, "It's an honor to meet you, sir."
Grandpa Gohan's eyes widen, cracking a big grin on his face, "You have such manners, young one."
Gokuu laughed, throwing his hand behind his head, flashing his signature Gokuu grin, "Yeah, he gets all that from Chi-Chi, Gramps."
"I can tell," Grandpa Gohan took a look up and down the young boy, "He is his mother's son."
"Really?" Gohan asked, all his life he had heard how much he was like his father, no one has ever compared him to his mother.
"You have your father's wild hair, sharp jaw line, and I am sure you inherited his super strength, but your eyes. Those eyes of the Ox King's daughter." Grandpa Gohan looked Gohan straight in the eye, as if he was trying to get a reading off him, Gohan could feel his Great-Grandfather's presents, it was as if he was trying to read his soul.
Grandpa Gohan smiled, liking what he saw in the young teenager, and gave him a hug. Gohan slightly bent down and hugged him back. Gohan could feel his Great-Grandfather's ki, and could tell he was as sweet and gentle as his father described.
"He's got her temper too," Gokuu laughed, patting Gohan's shoulder. Gohan could feel himself blushing with embarrassment.
"I can't picture it," Grandpa Gohan gave his Grandson a small smile.
"He has amazing power when he is angry, but when Gohan gets back to Earth he is going to start training himself so he can control himself." Gokuu stated.
"Your father told me a lot about you, son." Gohan turned his attention back to his Great-Grandfather, "Come Grandson, sit down and tell me about yourself."
Gohan nodded sitting down next to his Great-Grandfather, Gokuu sat down next to his son. Both Great-Grandfather and father were looking at Gohan to speak, this caused Gohan to blush, he didn't know what to say, "What do you want to know?" He asked sheepishly.
"Well, what do you want to be when you grow up?" Great-Grandfather asked.
"Lately I have been thinking about working at Capsule Corp," Gohan smiled, "Bulma-san's company has made some amazing discoveries, and have changed the way our world functions. I hope one day Bulma-san would allow me the honor of working at her company."
"You wanna work with Bulma?" Gokuu asked, Gohan could almost hear the hint of disappointment in his voice.
"Is that okay father?" Gohan asked, wondering why Gokuu was surprised by this.
"I dunno, the last few years you have been so caught up with training, and you always complain about your studies." Gokuu grinned, "I guess a part of me was hoping you'll continue with your training!"
Gohan turned away from his father, looking down at his hands, "I didn't like to study before because Mom use to force me to do it. I was studying beyond my age group, and the few times I want to Cram School, none of the kids could relate to me. Now," Gohan tugged at the grass, "Mom hasn't been pressing me as much since Goten was born, and I have been doing a lot of research on Capsule Corp," Gohan formed a smile on his lips, "I've been having this feeling ever since we meet Trunks-san from the future, that maybe my future self helped with creating the time machine he used to warn us about the Androids. I don't know if I really did have an influence on the creation of that machine or not, but I realized that is what I want to do. I want to help shift the course of the Earth. Capsule Corp is such an amazing company, I really want to be a part of it."
Gohan turned to his father, the smile slowly disappearing from his face, "I'm sorry father," Gohan turned to his Great-Grandfather, "I'm sorry Great-Grandfather."
"Sorry?" Both men said together, looking at one another before looking at Gohan.
"Why are you sorry, child?" Great-Grandpa Gohan asked.
"You both are skilled martial artist. I love training with you father, and with Piccolo-san, but," Gohan pushed, looking down at the floor, trying to find the right words, "I just don't like fighting. I just feel like I'm letting the family down."
Gokuu smiled, giving his son a big pat on the back. Gohan's eyes widen and he looked up at his father, "Son, you could never be a disappointment to me."
"From what I have heard," Great-Grandfather Gohan started to speak, and Gohan turned his attention to him, "Is that you are already a skilled martial artist, and I'm sure if the Earth ever needed protecting, you would protect her. But, you don't need to live your life preparing for that, chase your dreams. No one would be disappointed in you."
"I still want to control my power," Gohan looked back at his father, "I just really want to focus on my studies, maybe one day help Bulma-san invent the time machine, I know she has started working on it."
Gokuu put his hand on his son's shoulder, leaned slightly forward looking straight into Gohan's eyes, "If anyone can do it, it's you."
There was a small moment between father and son that couldn't be explained. It was a feeling that overwhelmed Gohan, it was a feeling that he couldn't place, but it was filled with pride, acceptance, understanding.
Grandpa Gohan sat back, he couldn't help but to think how much his grandson had changed. Gokuu grew up to be a great father. He couldn't be more proud.
Gohan looked away from his father and back at Grandpa Gohan, "Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure," Grandpa Gohan smiled.
Gokuu leaned away from Gohan, placing his hands behind him, looking over at his son.
"If this is too personal I understand, and I don't want to be rude," Gohan looked back down at his hands before looking back up at Grandpa Gohan, "Dad never told me how you died, I always wondered what happened."
There was a instant mood switch. Grandpa Gohan smile slowly vanished as he looked off to the side. Gokuu instantly stood up, slightly turning his back and crossing his arms.
Gohan looked up at his father, Gokuu was one who was normally outgoing and happy, never pictured his father having a care in the world. Of course there were moments that Gokuu had been moment, was one that Gohan had never seen his father in. Gokuu looked like he was deep in thought, he saw the pain written all over his face.
It almost looked familiar.
"When your father was a young boy," Grandpa Gohan started. The teenager turned his attention back to his Great-Grandfather. His eyes looking up at Gokuu, there was a heavy burden floating around the three of them.
Gohan regretted asking this question.
"He had a tail," Great-Grandpa explained.
Gohan nodded, "I had a tail too. Goten, my little brother, didn't have one when he was born."
Grandpa Gohan nodded, "So do you remember what happens when you look at the full moon?"
Gohan himself actually never remembered what happened. The gaps during those times were fuzzy. To his memory Gohan had never seen a full moon, and Piccolo destroyed it years though Gohan himself didn't remember what happened, he knew from others what became of him when he did look at the full moon. He would become a giant ape. He had seen it once, from Vegeta during their battle all those years ago.
He knew what the full moon did.
Gokuu didn't move from his spot, but he listened quietly.
"When your father was little, he had seen the full moon and became the giant ape. He turned into an uncontrollable animal, and once the full moon had vanished, he would turn back into a normal little boy," Grandpa Gohan sighed, "One night, Gokuu looked at the full moon and turned into the giant ape…"
"I killed him."
Gohan looked over at his father, his back was still slightly turned but he was now looking over at his Grandfather, "I was told that a monster stomped my Grandpa, but I didn't know until I saw Vegeta that the monster was me."
Gohan's eyes widen, he watched his father as he stared at his Grandfather. Grandpa Gohan stood up and walked over to his Grandson.
"It couldn't have been helped," Grandpa Gohan placed his hand on Gokuu's crossed arms, "You couldn't have controlled what happened that night. It just happened. I never blamed you."
Gokuu looked down at his Grandfather, not sure what to say, he looked over at his son.
There was an understanding between the two. It was at that moment that Gokuu understood the feelings Gohan was feeling about his death. He understood them because he had felt them when he learned the truth about his Grandfather.
Grandpa Gohan gave his Grandson a tight squeeze, Gokuu turned his attention back to the elder Gohan, and Grandfather gave his Grandson a single nod, letting go of Gokuu's arm.
Gokuu walked around his Grandfather and to his son, he went to his knees, and grabbed his son in a tight embrace.
Gohan didn't know how to feel, he didn't know how to respond.
"I understand now," Gokuu whispered to Gohan, "I never blamed you."
Gohan wrapped is arms around his father and held on, he could have swore he felt a tear hit his shoulder, but Gohan didn't want to look. He just held on tight to his father.
A tear fell down Gohan's cheek, not from a place of sadness or hurt, but from the very core of his heart, a place only a father could reach.
In that moment, Kaio-sama flashed before them.
"Gohan, I'm sorry but your time has been cut short."
