Daughter of Night
Zoey's (pov)
After my mothers speech I was honestly a little worried about what I'm supposed to do.
I walked to my room to give myself some time to think. Once I got to my room I changed from my dress into some pajamas. I took off my bow, arrows, and dagger and placed them on top of my dresser. I slowly dragged my feet from my dresser to my bed. I lied down and let my fatigued mind carry me off into sleep.
I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed after a good nights sleep. I look over at the other bed Stevie Rae was still asleep. I walked silently towards the bathroom. Once I was in the bathroom I looked in the mirror. I was still shocked about my appearance. My eyes lingered a little longer before I turned the shower on. I walked back into my room and grabbed a pair of skinny jeans and a t shirt with my mothers insignia on it. I did not want to stick out even more then I already do. I put my clothes down on the sink, undressed, and hopped in the shower. The water poured down on my head and ran down my shoulders. I grabbed my 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner and massaged it into my scalp. I washed out all the hardships of the previous day. After I finished scrubbing and shaving I reached out and grabbed my towel drying myself before getting out of the shower, so the floor wouldn't get soaked. Once I put on my make up, braided my hair, and got dressed. I walked out of my room ready to get this day started.
I walked to the cafeteria to get something to eat. Stevie Rae was already there, she must of used somebody else's shower. I sat down by her, there were people at the table I didn't know yet. "Sorry, I took so long in the bathroom." I said to Stevie Rae. "It's okay Zoey, I've been meaning to introduce you to my friends they weren't here yesterday." She first pointed to a boy with dirty blond hair and blue eyes "This is Jack, he is the nerd of all nerds" He smiled shyly, "Nice to meet you Zoey". "Nice to meet you too." Then she pointed to a boy with brown hair and blue eyes "This is Damien, Jack is his boyfriend and he is a talking dictionary". I waved to his and he waved back. Next she pointed to a girl with blond hair and blue eyes "This is Erin, she is the girl to go to about fashion of our group" The last one she pointed to was a girl with dark brown hair and brown eyes "And finally this is Shaunee, she has an affinity for fire" I nodded my head towards her. We talked for a while until the bell rang and they all went to class.
I walked out to the stables and to the office to find Professor Lenobia. She was sitting at her desk polishing some tack. She looked up when I entered and asked "What is it that you need to ask me Zoey" in a motherly voice. "I was wondering if I could borrow one of your horses and go for a ride, I need to clear my heads." She gave me one of those teacher disapproving looks then said "You will miss most of your classes." "I can make up the work" I said and gave her a small smile. " I guess I will let you ride, get your riding gear on while I find you a horse." I went to the tack room and put on some riding boots and a helmet. I grabbed a saddle, bridle, and reins while I was in there.
I found Lenobia with a beautiful black and white paint horse. "This horse's name is Persephone you can ride her" she said. I walked over to Persephone and patted her muzzle. I put the saddle on her back, I got Lenobia to put the bridle on her, while I tightened up the girth and adjusted the stirrups. Lenobia gave me a knee up on Persephone and got my feet in the stirrups. "Be careful" Lenobia said to me. "I will" I replied to her. I clicked my tongue and Persephone started walking, after a while we were running through the fields. I stopped at a tree tied Persephone up and sat at the base. I tilted my head forward and closed my eyes.
I started to feel a burning sensation. I opened my eyes, my skin was turning red. I was burning up...
