Still laughing I sat on the outside edge of the booth, picking up a menu I began to flip through it to see what The Grill had to eat.
"MMmhhhh." Sel pointed at something, "Potato skins! Yummy!"
"Ooh, that does sound good. Sage?" I turned to the gorgeous redhead.
"Best I've ever had." she smiles at Selena's enthusiasm.
"Hi, I'm Matt. I'll be your server today. Can I start you off with any drinks?" I look up to see a blonde guy standing next to us with a smile on his face. He seems nice. "Sure, thanks Matt. I'll take a cherry Pepsi."
"No problem Care." He smiles at her, it's obvious they're friends.
"Um, could I have a cherry Pepsi too?" I ask, offering a small smile again.
"Of course." He jots it down with the rest of the drink orders and the food Sage picked out for us.
"All right, I'll get that out as soon as possible."
"Thanks." we chorus.
Shortly he returned with our drinks before going to tend to another table.
I glance up from my drink to see a very familiar looking man and my smile slipped off my face, no doubt being replaced by a look of confusion.
I guess he felt my eyes on him because he looked up and I found myself unable to look away, our eyes meeting. His eyes seemed to widen in surprise and he stood up swiftly, nearly spilling his drink.
The people with him stood and walked with him, I ducked my head pretending to be engrossed in the desert menu. A shadow was cast over the table and I slowly looked up into his face.
"Hello." He greeted before being interrupted by his brother, "Hello Caroline, Love." I could practically hear her roll her eyes.
"Who are you?" Sel asks and I see her eying the one who appeared to be the youngest of the group. A shaggy, messy haired guy who appeared to be 16 or 17 at the youngest. "Kol Mikealson, it's a pleasure to meet you." he smirks at my sister and I narrow my eyes slightly, observing him. I don't really trust many people with my sister.
"The pleasure is all mine." she smirks right back as she shamelessly looks him up and down, "I'm Selena Petrova, and this is my twin Kat."
"Petrova? Now where have I heard that name before?" He seemed to be implying something as he turned slightly and looked to his brothers.
"Come on! I thought we got rid of you Katherine! You're supposed to be dead!" a brunette girl approached, Matt trying to calm her down and stop her from storming up to us but with no luck.
"Did I do something to tick her off?" I mutter my question with a raised eyebrow to my friends. "Not you-you, but yes. Fake you technically did a lot of things to make her life miserable." Caroline answered quietly back to me.
"Fake you? Caroline! What on earth are you doing with her? I thought we were friends, you don't do that to your friends. She killed you! She killed Jeremy! She's taken everything from me and you're making excuses for her?" The girl blubbered.
"I'm not making excuses Elena! It-"
"Stop lying Caroline! She's a monster and- and you're forgiving her! Don't you care about what she'd done to me." She is nearly shrieking, "To us, to you." she adds like it's an afterthought.
"I-" I try to say something only to find I can't and am close to bursting into tears- one lone tear already rolling down my cheek.
"Are you alright Katerina?" I look up at him in surprise. "How do- how do you-"
I feel a hand on my shoulder, it's Caroline. She'd gotten up and was standing by my side between that Elena girl and I. "You know him. This is Elijah." she says calmly.
"I do?"
"Yeah. You trust him." She whispers the last part though I suspect they can hear her. I think she does it so I feel like it's private.
"What happened?" Elijah frowns, "Elena forced her to take the cure and Silas killed her when she was human. She died and I don't know what happened but she's alive. She doesn't remember what she did, she has new memories, like she grew up in this time." I barely catch what she says and stare at her confused.
"What?" I look around to see Cece and Sel look confused but Sage looks amused and is sipping on her drink. Sage leans forward and her sudden movement causes another man to look at her. His eyes widen and he near gapes, "Sage?" his voice comes out a hoarse whisper and her eyes dark to his face.
Raising an eyebrow at him she asks, "Do I know you?"
He seems to not know what to say, or still be in shock or something because he doesn't say anything.
Elijah glances around his eyes settling on me again, "Why don't we all go back to our manor and we can discuss everything there." I immediately stand up, wanting to know more. "Sure."
"Eh, why not." Sage fluidly gets to her feet and the man who knew her name offers her his arm to take. Again she shrugs, but accepts his arm. The others are up after Sage and we follow them out of The Grill. Actually I'm on Elijah's arm like Sage is on the other guy's.
We are led up to some large Cadillac's and they open up the doors for us, like a true gentleman I can't help but think. After being ushered into the vehicles we are driven to a huge home- a mansion Selena would call it.
"W-OA-H." Selena ooh's the building, instantly in love with the architecture. She'd like to be an architect when she graduates and have a singing, acting, dancing career on the side.
"Do you like it Love?" one of the boys asks her with a small smirk on his lips. "Like it? I love it!" She gushes before rambling about the finer points and features of the architecture.
I refrained from rolling my eyes as she got into a heated discussion about the subject with the other man- the one that was a guest star in my nightmares.
Walking into the building I observed the entryway silently, examining all the miniscule details and trying to commit it to memory in case I needed to. "You have a lovely home." I comment lightly in an attempt to make small talk.
"Why thank you Katerina. Niklaus designed it himself." Elijah smiles at me nervously.
"That I did." Niklaus smirks and raises his eyebrows at Caroline, in what I think is an attempt at flirting or impressing her.
"Not bad." She rolls her eyes but I can tell she likes him.
We move into what appears to be the sitting room and I take a seat at an armchair next to Elijah. There aren't enough seats so some people are sitting on other's laps or on armrests. Selena outright sat down on Kol's lap immediately after he sat down. Sage did sit next to the man- I think they said his name was Finnegan- she was sitting awkwardly and was leaning on him due to the fact that it was only supposed to sit four people and now held at least 6.
Caroline half-sat on the armrest of Niklaus's chair and Cece sat squished on the couch with Jason, the girl Rebekah, Damon and Stephen. The rude girl Elena stood next to Damon- refusing to come any closer to the rest of us and the nice witch Bonnie sat next to me when I scooted over and offered her the spot. After all my chair was quite roomy and I am quite small. She had accepted graciously with a small smile.
"I'm Kat." I whispered when she sat, she seemed nervous and I wanted her to feel comfortable with me. She seemed really nice and I want friends like that. "Bonnie." she whispered back offering another small, nervous smile.
Elena looked like she was about to burst, her face was red with what I assume to be anger. Bonnie raised an eyebrow at her and shook her head. While everyone was making small talk I thought I might ask her what was wrong with her friend.
"Is she okay? Did I do something?" I scrunch my nose trying to recall but I don't recall meeting her before today.
"Um, she'll be fine. Yeah, you really don't remember?" She had a surprised look on her face as she whispered back to me.
"No, I can't say that I do. I don't recall meeting any of you until today."
"No, I can't say that I do. I don't recall meeting any of you until today." Elena mimicked me in a whiny, nasally voice.
"Elena!" Caroline admonished.
"What! She's a horrible person." She snaps and I flinch back slightly. Bonnie's eyes shot over to me immediately and I saw some sympathy in her eyes. I looked at my hands and willed myself not to cry, I've been called worse. Surely I have.
I glanced back up for a moment and right into Elijah's eyes, for a moment everything seemed fine and my emotions settled. I was at ease again.
