So this is the third chapter and after this there will probably be a time skip to move it along faster still haven't decided yet but anyways I'm having a lot of fun with this and want the story to branch out a little also hooray for females in this chapter \(•-•)/
As we walked across a courtyard overlooking a city I saw guardians walking and talking, buying stuff from vendors and a female hunter cursing at some guy named Rahool? Don't know who that is but he sounds like a horrible person.
We passed by a ship floating next to the balcony and a girl with three glowing green eyes covered up and a glowing green orb in her hands muttering about someone named Crota and how he'll pay for what he's done.
Javael stopped and turned around to look at me "That's Eris Morn a hunter who tried to kill a god with her raid team and as you can see it didn't end well..."
"How do you kill a god?" I asked puzzled
"Well she can tell you how NOT to kill a god" turns and keeps walking down a hallway with stairs
"Stop leaving without me" I yell and jog to catch up.
After walking down the stairs we walked into another balcony like area with two metal doors, closed off.
There were red banners with white triangles on them over one section and men and women in red and white while one guardian was chatting it up with this slightly older lady holding a tablet between some shelves.
Then there was this tower like structure branching off from the main balcony and inside was this holographic globe floating, with what looks like steel rings circling around it in different patterns.
There were short stairs off to the left of this leading up to a man in white and black robes and a mask over his face, hunched over a desk with maps of a planet on them a ghost circling him.
I followed Jav up the stairs to the man in white.
"Hello speaker" Jav says as if he was speaking to a commanding officer
"Greetings Javael and ... Who are you?"
"He's a new guardian, a warlock... I found him during that mission you sent me on and I decided to put the mission on hold because well... This ones different..."
"Different...? Different how?
"Well for starters his ghost won't talk to him or me and I can't explain it but there's something familiar about him..."
"Hmm this ghost thing could be a problem... What if his ghost doesn't revive him if he falls in combat... There's to many uncertainties about this and it worries me... Guardian try to force summon your ghost"
"Yea I would but uhhh how do I do that again?"
Jav holds out his hand and ghost appears over it blinking and then floating around the speakers ghost
"Seems easy enough" I hold out my hand and nothing happens
We all wait a minute eager to see what happens next
Another minute passes and nothing
I throw my hand back down to my side and look down cursing at it
"Hmm this is strange" the speaker says and walks towards me
He puts a hand on my shoulder and his masked face stares at me "Guardian your ghost is what keeps you alive and flowing with light without it you may turn back into ash"
My head slowly looks down and my mind can't decide between anger or sadness so I chose for it...
"FUCKING HELL LYNX WHY WONT YOU SHOW UP"
Jav and the speaker takes a step back and watch as small flames start to build up around my feet and my eyes blaze like a fire
"ARE YOU SCARED OR JUST WANT TO EMBARRASS ME?"
The flames build up in a circle and spiral slowly climbing up my legs
"FINE I DON'T NEED YOU LYNX I'LL GET A NEW ONE AND HE WON'T LEAVE ME NAKED UNDER A HIGHWAY"
The flames burst out in all directions charring a few books from the bookshelf next to us and leaving scorch marks on the floor.
"Well then" a small digital voice says behind me
A small ghost flies around me with a faint green glow "You called?"
Jav raises his eyebrows and the speaker says nothing
A feeling of joy spreads over me and I almost want to hug the little guy
"LYNX you're back, why didn't you show up earlier..."
"Well I didn't want to be recognized"
"Recognized? Do you know these two?"
"Kinda..."
"Kinda?"
Jav leans over and whispers something to the speaker
The speaker nods and says "Go to Ikora guardian she's in the vanguard hall, down the stairs of the main courtyard and if you get lost don't feel bad about asking for help"
I thought in the back of my mind as if I'd ask someone for help and even if I did there's no way I'd admit it
"Will do speaker, I'll be going then" I turn to leave and my ghost disappears into my armor again
As Ben walks off Jav and the speaker look at eachother
"Do you recognize it Javael?"
"Is that the ghost I picked up on the moon?"
"Yes and it was brought to me badly damaged and stripped of its light but now it has seemed to have found a new light"
"The green glow do you think-"
"I do but let's says nothing of it for now, let us just observe... Watch over him Javael, add him to your fireteam and show him the ropes"
Jav nods and starts to walk away "Will do"
The speaker stands in silence alone and mumbles to himself "I wonder what the hive have done to the ghost and how it will effect young Ben... So many questions and no answers..."
He's turns around and goes back to work
-in the main courtyard-
I scratch my head and look around "Ok so I might be a little lost..."
I walk towards a man in yellow robes with a white face looking at something on the tablet in his hands
Without looking up he says "Hello warlock"
I turn around and see no one behind me and ask "Me?"
"Yes you, what do you want? Here to complain about unfair results of your engrams?"
Thinks engram... What's that "Uh no I'm just uhhh leaving" I walk off towards a blue and yellow Exo with a collection of guns behind him
"Are you looking to protect yourself? Or deal some damage?"
"Hey I know that from somewhere... where was it?"
"It's nothing guardian just something from the past"
"Ok then... Anyways are you a guardian?"
"Me? No. I'm a gunsmith and a weapons dealer"
"Weapons" my eyes light up "I need some of those"
"Well if you're new to see the vanguard and they might have a little something for you"
I laugh nervously "Yea will do" I say as I walk off
"I'm never gonna find it" I think allowed while looking over the city below
"You're lost aren't you?" A feminine voice says from behind me
I turn around and see girl in somewhat bulky armor and blue long hair, some of it covering her face slightly and blowing in the slight breeze, cold icy blue eyes stare at me "What you staring at warlock?"
I look off to the slide slightly and curse myself in my head for staring "Uhhh nothing just the uhh..."
"The uh?" She asks smiling
"Well I best be going now" I turn to leave and she grabs my shoulder
"You're lost aren't you"
"No I know exactly where I'm going" I turn to face her
"And where are you going?"
"To the vanguard" I say walking past her
"Wrong way"
"I knew that" I say doing a 180° and walking past her again
"Still wrong"
I turn around and look at her "Then where is it smarty pants"
"Admit you're lost and I'll help" she's says crossing her arms and smiles smugly
"I'm not lost I'm testing you"
"Mhm sure, that's why you don't have a gun right?"
I start to speak them realize she's right
"And also why you don't know where the vanguard is"
"Ok so I might be a little lost"
"Little?" She asks smiling
"Ok a lotta lost" I admit
"That's all I wanted to hear you say" she says sweetly and walks off
"WHY DOES EVERYONE WALK AWAY WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING" I yell and chase after her
She chuckles and walks down big stairs in the end of the courtyard
I look around and see a tall man wearing a helmet with horns on it, a necklace, and a fur coat on his shoulder. His white his orange armor shining as he chats with a robot with the same horns and fur coat, also matching the taller man with the orange and white color pattern
"Why does a robot need fur"
"It doesn't" the blue haired girl replies as she enters another room
This room was much bigger, with big windows opening up to reveal a large mountain scene. There was a long table with papers and books covering it and three figures standing around it.
One was a female with ebony skin, purple robes and a shaved head.
The next was a robot with a blue frame, orange eyes, and what looks like a unicorn horn coming out from under his cloak
The last was a huge man with pale skin and huge armor only making him look bigger, the armor was sliver and red, think enough to withstand a freight train from the looks of it.
They were all arguing and yelling at each other when the female throws her hands up in the air and walks away from them
"Ikora!" The blue haired women says as she waves the ebony lady over here
"Yes?" Ikora asks them she looks at me "Oh it would seem we have a new warlock in the tower"
She nods then walks off to talk with the bulky white man
Ikora stands in front of me and stares, sizing me up
"Warlock what is your name?"
"Uhh Ben miss and I'm guessing your the warlock vanguard?"
"Indeed I am" she nods
"The speaker said to come to you and chose my path?"
"Yes, you can chose Voidwalker or Sunsinger"
"I've heard a little about Voidwalkers and I know nothing of Sunsingers... Could you tell me about the, before I decide?"
"Of course"
"Voidwalkers control the arcane and use it to teleport, float, and channel the arcane energy into concentration of energy into your palm and then out in a blast of power depending on how much your pour into it it can be bigger or smaller, or even split into multiple forms"
"Sunsingers are warlocks that channel the power of the sun, they use solar energy to fly, burn, and melt things that get in there way. The Sunsingers can also coat themselves in flames and supercharge them for a short period of time. With this coat of flames they can even cheat death"
"Hmm" I ponder this for a while seeing the benefits in both and ultimately choosing the one I saw best fit.
"Interesting choice... What is your name guardian?"
"Ben" I say proudly
"Good luck out there Ben I wish you safe travels among the stars..."
She starts to walk away then turns back around "give this to the gunsmith to receive weapons and armor"
I take it and bow a small thanks to her as she walks back to the table and begin yelling at the other two again
"Ok then" I stare at the chip in my hand and walk back to the gunsmith
-after getting my stuff from the gunsmith Ben goes over his armory-
"Ok so I chose a Shingin-C auto rifle, a Gravitron ESM shotgun" I strap the auto rifle to my back and strap the small shotgun to a strap inside my new warlock robes called: Enigma Burn
I feel pride rising up in my chest knowing I can defend and protect myself now.
"Well I see someone is liking there new stuff" Jav says behind me
I nod and turn around to face him
"We still need to get your a ship and a sparrow" he says turning and walking back to the hanger.
"STOP LEAVING ME" I yell chasing after him
-in the hanger-
"Hi Holiday" Jav says to a women with short cut blonde hair and a smile on her face
"Howdy Javael" she says with a country accent and a smile on her face
"Nice to see you to" he says smiling
I look back and forth between them and suddenly feel like a third wheel
I cough and Jav and holiday turn towards me as if they forgot I was here
"Oh uhh sorry Ben, holiday this is Ben he needs a ship and a sparrow"
"Why do I need a bird?"
They both laugh at me and I glare at them
Holiday wipes a tear from under her eye "Sparrows are speed bikes that hover over the ground and have no wheels" she explain while Jav stands there and smirks
"Oh..."
"Chose any two colors and I'll have it ready for you later" she hands me her tablet, showing a model of a sparrow but with no colors
I make the base and main model of it green and make the small details bright red.
I smile with my choices and hand it back to her
She smiles and swipes to the left and hands it back showing a model of a dark blue jump ship named NS22 High Water
"Is this ok for your ship"
I nod and hand it back to her
"Ok then Ben you're all set up"
Me and Jav walk away and Jav waves back at her both of them smiling
"We have one last thing to do" he says walking towards a flight of stairs leading down deeper into the tower
I give him a puzzled look then get to the bottom of the stairs only to realize we're standing at the entrance of a bar
"Really?" I ask him with a judging face
"Really really" he replies walking in
We walk past a group of guardians sitting on couch stalking about adventures, all having the word B35T on their armor
Jav grabs a booth and sits down and I sit across from him away from the noise
"Ok so you've been to a lotta places in the tower and I'm guessing you saw banners bearing markings in certain areas of the tower?"
Remembering the red banners I saw I nod slowly
"Ok so those are the factions, there's three of them at the tower and possibly more"
I start to understand where this is going "So do they compete or help out and stuff?"
"Compete yes. Help out, not really."
"Ok then what do they want and why are they here?"
"They all want control and power from what I understand, there's New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, and Future War Cult"
All of them sound bad in there own rights I start to think
"Unfortunately I can't tell you much about Dead Orbit and Future War Cult expect for the fact that FWC is obsessed with the future and Dead Orbit are scavengers and looters that patrol space for wreckages and trash"
"Ok so Dead Orbit are like pirates and FWC are crazy people" I conclude
"Sure, anyways I can tell you about New Monarchy cuz I help them out from time to time and they rewarded me with this hand cannon" Jav says as he places his red and white hand cannon on the table and upon closer inspection I see it has the insignias on it
"So they reward your for helping them?" I think allowed
"Yes and you can buy stuff from them if you gain their trust" he finishes
"Now let's get some drinks" Jav yells and stands up walking to the bar while I think about everything that's happened so far in my new life.
