Chapter 3: After the Battle
The plans were underway for Magnolia's annual Fantasia Parade and the Fairy Tail guild was greatly excited. Though there was the incident with Laxus, the issue was settled and the parade still happening. A day after the battle, the guild was chatty and rowdy as per usual. Natsu and Gajeel were bruised and sitting down on a bench Just as the chatter had escalated, a strange yet familiar figure walks down the stairs from the guilds infirmary to the main area. The room goes silent at his presence... which made him uncomfortable.
"How's it going? I just wanted to uhhhhh..." Charon looks around noticing all the glares towards him.
The silence went straight to cheers. The deeds he committed during the battle didn't go unnoticed and the entire guild wanted to thank him at once, which they tried. They wanted to thank him for dealing with the body link magic by himself and defeating Laxus.
Erza steps forward "We owe you a great deal for helping us, is there anything we can do to repay you?"
"I was just doing what anybody would do and help people in need, I mean, I didn't really do that much..." Charon says pulling his hat down and trying to cover his face. "Actually, I do know something you could do. I need some new clothes after being scorched by the lightning."
Mirajane overheard the conversation "Actually, I'm headed to the market as well, maybe I could accompany you!"
Charon looks over in her direction and gives her a weird glance "You sure you want to go with me of all people?" She nods and he starts to scratch the back of his head. "I guess If you want to... "
"We'll be back in no time everybody!" Mira says to the guild just before leaving the hall with Charon.
After a few minutes of walking in silence...
"So, tell me about yourself." Mira ends the silence.
"Well, my name is Charon, but you already knew that, my last name is Papillion. Is that enough?"
"What do you think about Fairy Tail?" Mira followed up
"I'm not sure. I like it and all, I just don't know if I'll fit in with a guild... I'm not exactly normal as you can see." Charon says pointing to his face.
"You know, I felt the same way when I was asked to join the guild. I wasn't normal either with my satan soul take over magic and people shunned me, but that doesn't make you a bad person, it makes you who you are."
"You talk nice to me now, but you haven't got a clue as to why I'm in this town in the first place."
"Was it not for the parade?" Mira looks surprised.
"No, its not as simple as that... you promise you won't get upset?"
"Promise!" Mira holds her right hand up to signify her promise.
"Well, I'm sure you know about slayer magic, do you not?"
"Of course! Natsu and Gajeel are both dragon slayers, and I know them."
"Well, that isn't the only type of slayer magic... there's Dragon Slayers, God slayers, Phoenix Slayers, and people like me, the Devil Slayers. I am the Sky Devil Slayer... I hunt and eliminate demonic presences such as Etherious... or more specifically, people who wield demonic magics such as you..."
"You came all this way to kill me? What made you change your mind?" Mira looked shocked, but pleased with him telling her the truth.
Charon stopped walking "I saw your fight with Freed... and watched you spare his life. Not only that, but you have a big family who loves you for who you are. I'm convinced that you're not demonic, just a kind and caring person."
"I appreciate it, and I can only hope that we can be friends."
"After everything I just told you, you want to be my friend..." Charon looks down, then up a Mira and put his hand forward. "I accept, and I've made my decision about the guild! I want to join."
"Wonderful! When we get back, we can get you stamp and get a formal introduction to everyone."
"I look forward to it." Charon said with a smile.
A few hours of clothes shopping later, Charon picked out a black high collared jacket and some other clothes for back up (The cover photo for the fan fiction is what he looks like now). He and Mirajane were back in the guild hall with the news of his decision to join. Natsu was yelling at the master for expelling Laxus from the guild.
"WHY'D YOU DO THAT GRAMP?! I know he made a mistake, but he didn't deserve getting kicked out! He's family!" Natsu was visibly upset with the Master's decision.
Erza spoke up "Stop it now Natsu! Can't you see how hard it was for the Master to make such a decision?!" She bonks him on the head.
Mira joins the conversation "On the bright side, we have a new member!'" she said with a smile.
"So you're the young man who helped stop Laxus?" The master looks over to him. "We'd love to have you as a part of our family! LET'S SHOW HIM HOW WE PARTY!"
"Let's get you a stamp. Where do you want it?" Mira asks
"The right side of my neck."
Mirajane stamps the Fairy Tail logo into Charons neck and the whole guild cheers. He was now a full member of Fairy Tail.
"Hey Charon! When I'm done healing I want to fight you!" Natsu shouted
"Come on flame brain, give'em some time to settle in before challenging him!" Gray shouts at Natsu.
"You're on!" Charon says cracking his knuckles. "I want to fight Mira too! It's only fair that you fight me at the same time too!" Charon says smirking.
The guilds cheering went to the sounds of jaws dropping. "ARE YOU CRAZY?! BOTH?!"
"I came to this town to kill Mirajane in the first place. Now that I'm not, It's only fair I see for myself who would have won." Charon says smiling
The master speaks up "YOU CAME HERE TO DO WHAT?!"
"I told her about it during our walk, and I decided that she's no threat to the safety of civilization. Still, I need to know if I would have beaten her after seeing how powerful she is."
"Alright Charon, I accept, but I want to fight you one on one!" Mira says with a cocky grin.
"Fine, I'll fight you later Natsu."
"You bet your ass you will, I'm gonna destroy you!" Natsu shouts.
"As long as that motive is in the past, I can overlook it." the master stands up "ALRIGHT EVERYBODY, THE FIGHT WILL BE THE DAY AFTER THE FANTASIA PARADE ON THE BEACH, BE THERE OR MISS THE FIGHT OF A LIFETIME!"
"This is just the introduction I need." Charon says grinning, excited to show his strength to his new family.

I hope you enjoy this chapter, because I enjoyed writing it! This wasn't as much taken from the canon story as most of the previous chapters were, so it might not be on par with them. I would also like to say thanks to those who read this fanfiction and review it and stuff, because it feels good knowing that people like stuff you make.
