Chapter 14: Initiation Part I
Each of the students looked to each other as they were preparing themselves and checked upon who they might be paired for the next four years. Professor Ozpin looked at Goodwitch and nodded at her, she then swiped her scroll and the students started to be launched one by one into the forest. Dilan went flying through the air he noticed that he was heading for a tree so he drew his placed his shield in front of him and channelled his aura into it and broke the tree to slow himself down and as he came closer into the ground he tucked his head and rolled into a standing position. He quickly observed his surroundings and looked for any sign of a person at all, he then noticed the bush rustling and got into his battle stance with his sword facing the bush. Suddenly Castor came charging out of the bush being chased by three Beowolves and Dilan quickly readjusted his stance and moved out of Castor's way and decapitated the first Beowolf and took the arm of the second one, but he wasn't quick enough to block the third and he was sent flying through the air and slamming into a tree. Castor ran towards a tree and ran up it and flipped upside down and converted his weapon into its rifle form and fired off a single round into the head of the uninjured Beowolf and landed on his feet. He heard the howl of the injured Beowolf and turned to see his brother on the ground, he changed his weapon into its spear form and threw it into the skull of the third Beowolf with a sickening crunch it fell to the ground. Castor ran over to his brother and helped him stand.
"You alright?" Castor asked with concern.
"Yeah, just a little dizzy" Dilan responded.
"Good, let's get to that temple partner" Castor said with a smile. Dilan grinned back at his brother and they walked past the dead Beowolves and Castor removed his weapon that was embedded into the head of the Beowolf, and they continued to make their way through the forest. After a while they came to a clearing where they saw the temple and Serah and Clare walking towards the temple.
Clare was flying through the air with a big grin on her face as she saw the ground fly past her, and as she started her descent she grabbed her hammer and converted it into its grenade launcher form and started shooting and using the recoil to slow down. She landed on the ground with a dull thud on the ground and started jogging north towards the temple, as she made her way she heard the distinct roar of an Ursa. She smiled and sprinted towards the origin of the roar for hopes that she may encounter someone friendly and as she arrived she noticed Serah was fighting the beast and was losing quickly, the beast raised its paw to strike the girl and was intercepted by a quick flurry of grenades from Clare and sent the Ursa tumbling into a tree and breaking it in two. Serah looked over at Clare and sighed when she noticed who her partner was going to be.
"Why did I get stuck with you?" Serah moaned.
"No time to complain princess, we need to get to the temple now" Clare said to her annoyed teammate. They continued their way through the forest and encountered a group of Beowolves which they managed to dispatch with ease and continued their way along the forest until they came into a clearing.
"So you think that's the temple?" Clare grinned.
"Obviously it is" Serah retorted.
"No need to be like that" Clare said back.
"Why shouldn't I"
"I'm stuck with you, you never take anything seriously and you always mess around" Serah said frustrated.
"Why do you hate me?" Clare asked sadly.
"I don't hate you, I hate the way you act" Serah responded. Clare looked towards the ground as she realised that her partner didn't really want to be her partner.
"It's fine, if you don't want to be partners then I'll just leave and you can have someone else" Clare said saddened by her realisation.
"Clare don't go its fine" Serah said to her partner.
"No you're right, we'd be terrible partners anyway" Clare responded. She started to walk away when Serah grabbed her by the shoulder.
"Clare I'm sorry, truly I am" Serah said to her.
"It doesn't matter" Clare said with a sad smile.
"But-"
"I don't want to talk about it" Clare said. Serah nodded at her partner and they made their way over to the temple. When they got closer to the temple they saw some small pillars with relics sitting on them. They noticed that some of the relics had already been taken, they both looked to each other when they realised that they were animals.
"Guys, over here" a voice called out from behind them. When they turned around they notice it was Dilan and Castor running up to them.
"So you guys got partnered up?" Dilan smiled.
"So what?" Serah asked aggressively.
"It doesn't matter" Castor intervened.
"Let's just quickly choose our artefacts and get back to the cliffs" Serah replied. They each grabbed their artefact and started running to the cliff as fast as possible together. When they arrived they saw other students standing together as partners and Professors' Ozpin and Goodwitch waiting for the other students still to arrive.
