Sorry for the lateness, I just got done with an English paper, which took some time. I've also given some though about where I'm taking this story. I'm going to start something different for me this chapter, which is pairings. I'm not sure how well I can write fluff stuff, but I'm gonna try my best!

Chapter 5: The Date...

After about a days worth of rest and recovery, Charon and Mirajane both are in beds in the guild infirmary.

Charon opened his eyes, rose slowly from the bed and stretched He thought about the battle and Mira. Remembering her, he looked over his shoulder to see her laying on her back, but looking over at him.

she giggled "I didn't hurt you too bad did I?"

Charon looked at her and smiled "Let's not forget who won the duel! I'm an S-class wizard like you now haha!" he crashes back onto the bed and looks up towards the ceiling. "About what you wanted... why would you want to do things with me? I'm seriously boring and people usually run away when they fi..." he was interrupted.

"Don't talk that way... Remember what you did for all of us with the Thunder Palace? and releasing us from Evergreen's petrification? I've only known you about half a week and you've helped me twice." Mira looked at him seriously, then smiled "Also, I want to know more about you, and I won't take no for an answer."

He pulls his hat down "It's not like I have a choice, besides I kinda want to get to know you too..." he couldn't hide the blush under his hat.

She beams at him "Wonderful, I'll meet you at the guild entrance at 7 pm sharp!" Mira then got out of her bed and left the room.

"What have I gotten myself into...?" Charon covers his head with a pillow.

"What's gotten Mira in such a good mood?" Master Makarov walks in to the infirmary chuckling. "If you don't mind, I'd like to have a word with you in my office Charon."

Charon looks at him confused and nodded. "Yeah, sure, let's go."

Master's Office...

The master sat behind his desk while Charon sat in a chair across from him

Makarov was the first to talk. "I'd like to start by congratulating you on your victory yesterday against Mira! That was no easy feat, and I'm sure the entire guild knows by now that you're by no means weak, but to be an S-class wizard, you need more than strength... you need heart and character..." He looks at Charon with a serious face.

"And I'm new right? It makes sense." Charon crossed his arms and looked back at him.

"I wasn't finished!" The master says with a commanding voice. "I treat each member of the guild like my children, and what they told me is that you were instrumental in stopping Laxus and the Thunder Palace, is that true."

"I just did what I though was necessary during the moment.. It was nothing.. anyone could have done it." Charon looked irate.

"Not just anyone would risk their life for complete strangers. What I'm trying to say is that I believe you have the heart and character for the promotion!" The master looked and smiled at Charon.

"I appreciate it, but do I really deserve it?" Charon asks

"That has yet to be fully determined, but for now, yes, you most definitely deserve it! Now follow me onto the stage so we can announce your promotion to the rest of the guild!"

"Let's just get this over with..." he sighs

The Guild Hall Stage...

The master coughs into the mic and shouts. "ATTENTION ALL GUILD MEMBERS! I have an announcement to make!"

the crowd already knew what the announcement was about because Charon was on the stage. They watched the battle and knew that he definitely had the power to back up the rank and were all thankful for the spell that spared them the body link magic.

"From this moment onward, we shall recognize this individual, Charon Papillion as an S-class Wizard!" The master raises a mug. "Now LET'S CELEBRATE THE WAY ONLY FAIRY TAIL CAN!"

A huge celebration had started just for Charon's promotion. There was drinking, dancing, and... fighting... But time flew by and It was nearing 7 already.

7:00 pm

Charon had remembered the offer Mirjane made and went straight to the guild entrance, where he met her.

"So, where are we going?" He asked

"My house of course! I'm going to make us dinner!" She said smiling brightly

He smiles back. "Ya know, I'm a pretty good cook myself! It would be better if I cooked the food while you sit back and relax."

"Very well then, but I you mess this up, I'll never forgive you." Mira said

"No pressure huh.." Charon sighs.

Mirajane's House...

The two walked to her house and Charon began the cooking process. After he was done, he brought to the table a masterpiece of culinary art.

"Charon... am I dreaming? This actually looks good?" Mira looked shocked after learning that he told the truth.

"Just eat it already before it gets cold!" he scolded.

The two chowed down, and loved every bite. He had made chicken and dumplings, seasoned fish, and for dessert, he made key lime pie. The two rubbed their bellies and let out a sigh of enjoyment.

"So, what'd you think about that? at least I'm good at something other than fighting..." Charon says

"You can say that again... want to go for a walk?" Mira asks.

"Sure, it'll help with digestion."

The two walked outside the door and started to walk.

"Thanks for inviting me, I actually enjoyed myself for once.." Charon says crossing his arms.

"I should be the one thanking you for cooking! It's not everyday that someone cooks for me." she giggled

Charon pulled his hat downwards to cover the blush on his face. "W-would you like to d-do this again s-sometime?"

"Without a doubt, yes! I would love to!" She smiles. "I want to treat you next time though!"

"But I... okay... you win." he sighs defeated. "Anyway, I should take you back to your house. It's late and your brother's probably looking worried."

"Okay, but can we walk slowly?" Mira pleads.

"Of course, I can manage that." he smile to himself.

The two began their walk back to Mira's house, chatting all the while about Charons time in the guild, and stories Mira had been wanting to tell. They finally arrive at her house.

"I had fun, see you tomorrow!" Charon turned and walked away, but was stopped by Mira who was hugging him from the back. "Huh.."

"Promise me we'll do this again." Mira said in a warm tone.

"I promise, and Mira..." she let go, he looked back with a smile and he waved good bye. "Thanks..." he said softly

Charon thought to himself. 'What's this feeling all of the sudden?. Its like I'm weightless and happy and all my troubles have melted away.' he smile and looked up at the night time sky 'is this love?'

He walked around until he got to the guild thinking about his feelings towards Mira, the person he was originally going to exterminate, and couldn't help feeling happy at the thought of her. She was the only one to notice him and not shun him for his magic. It helps that she went through a lot of the same things he went through as a kid and understands his mentalities towards many things. He was looking forward to seeing her again.

Author stuff...

This chapter came out a day later than I expected, and it was all due to the influx of work with Spring Break around the corner! Still, I hope you enjoy my first attempt to start the pairing of Charon and Mirajane. I'd appreciate it if you guys would let me know what I could do to improve these types of chapters.
