Chapter 17: Day 1
The teams had all gathered in the hall and stood with their partners at the edge of the stage waiting to be called up to be formed in their teams. The only person who stood on stage was Professor Ozpin with a large screen standing above him with the pictures and names of students, second to fourth year students and teachers sat looking down at the new students waiting to be formed. Serah was standing around nervously while Clare stood beside her smiling and waiting to be called, next to them was Castor and Dilan talking and laughing with each other. A student ran up next to Emerald, Joker and Ace; they all turned to face him when they saw Professor Goodwitch follow closely.
"This is Nio Sapphirrus, he will be your partner Miss Frost" Goodwitch spoke.
"Nice to meet you Nio" Emerald said to him. He didn't respond to her.
"You okay?" she asked him again.
"I think he's shy towards people he doesn't know" Ace interrupted.
"Well, it's still nice to meet you, I just hope we can get something out of you" Emerald remarked.
Ozpin finally got around to announcing the last of the teams.
Serah Schnee, Clare Ren, Dilan Arc and Castor Arc, you all chose the Bear Relic. From here on in you shall be known as Team CSCD (Cascade), led by Dilan Arc.
Lance Xiao Long, Reginald Rose, Adam Wukong and Dean Parker, you all chose Eagle Relic. From here on in you shall be known as Team LARD, led by Dean Parker.
Ace Teal, Joker Teal, Emerald Frost and Nio Sapphirrus, you all chose the Snake Relic. From here on in you shall be known as Team JANE, led by Nio Sapphirrus.
Once all the teams had exited off stage Professor Ozpin tapped the microphone twice, everyone kept their attention on him.
I have one last announcement to make: I am stepping down from my role as headmaster of the school as well as Professor Goodwitch. We have already decided who our replacements shall be: Jaune Arc shall be your new headmaster and Pyrrha Arc will replace Professor Goodwitch as your combat teacher. We have made this decision due to unforeseen circumstances and I expect you to respect them both, for they both have extensive knowledge and will be great sources of personal experience and knowledge. Thank you all for your understanding and may you all succeed in your future endeavours.
Professor Ozpin walked off the stage to be replaced by Jaune Arc, he stood on the stage with a nervous look on his face when he realised the intensity of the situation and the expectations that were left for him, Jaune stood tall and calmed himself when he looked out to everybody and began speaking.
I may not be the greatest hunter, but I do know how to lead and the expectations I have of you students is the same as Professor Ozpin. I expect that you can come to me with any problems you may have and I will help you become the best you can be, I also don't tolerate bullying of any students. If I found out any of you do so it will be met with severe action. Other than that have a good year and best of luck for the future.
Jaune exited the stage signalling for everyone to leave, as he did Jaune started walking to his new office with Pyrrha beside him with a concerned look on her face. He looked over to her and smiled to help put her at ease.
"Are you okay?" he asked her.
"Yeah I'm fine" Pyrrha responded. He looked at her knowing that she was lying.
"Come on, what's the problem?" Jaune asked again.
"Are you sure you can handle the job?" she asked with concern.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"I just want to make sure you know what you're doing" Pyrrha responded back.
"You know I do" He responded back. She just smiled at him and gave him a quick kiss, Jaune opened the door to his office where Professor Ozpin was waiting with Professor Goodwitch and Velvet.
"So Professor Ozpin, what was that about?" Jaune asked one of his former mentors.
"I'll let Miss Scarletina explain the whole situation" the Professor responded. They all turned to face the rabbit Faunus.
"To put it as simple as possible, I believe he's still alive" Velvet said.
"What do you mean exactly?" Pyrrha asked.
"I believe he might be alive despite what we saw" she responded quickly.
"I find that hard to believe, we all saw him die" Jaune said remorsefully.
"I know what we saw, but everything I've gathered says otherwise" Velvet responded. Pyrrha and Jaune looked shocked at the news they had heard, the person who sacrificed themselves to save their friend could still be alive.
"Are you sure that it's him?" Jaune asked hesitantly.
"Yes, it's him and we're going to try and find him and bring him back" Velvet responded. Pyrrha looked at the ground and realised Velvet's tone of voice.
"You're extremely fond of him aren't you?" Pyrrha questioned.
"Yeah, I am" Velvet smiled.
"All right, we should let you guys go" Jaune said sadly. Velvet looked at her friends and knew that she wasn't going to see them for a while, so she held hugged them with regret and sadness. Velvet and Professors Goodwitch and Ozpin left the tower with determination towards their objective. Pyrrha looked at her husband for reassurance that they would be alright, even he held a look of doubt on his face.
"You're worried too?" Pyrrha asked.
"I just don't know if he'll help them or hurt them" Jaune responded.
"We know they're strong enough for this" Pyrrha reassured.
"Yes, for now we need to continue our duties as teachers here" Jaune sighed. He sat down in Ozpin's chair and started going through the files that were left over, he opened the first one and noticed it contained a photo and what was known on the student. He grabbed them and started to sort through them until he came upon one that was stamped with the word important on it, he looked inside and saw a profile on Nio.
