Drain Heart

Yasuhiko blinked at the sight of the brown-haired Daisuke napping in the grass. He slowly approached and gently nudged his side with his foot, issuing a small moan from the boy.

"Hey, what are you doing out here?"

"It's such a nice day…not too hot for once. Summer is finally over, ne?" Daisuke sleepily uttered, "The bell hasn't rung yet, has it?"

"No, you still have five minutes." the teen assured, "Kaoru told me what you and Scryptic did for him. That was really nice, Daisuke."

"Oh…" the teen began as he pushed himself to a sit, "Well…I dunno…he loves her, y'know? I just wanted to make him happy." Yasuhiko paused at the response and softly smiled as he began to realize Daisuke's relationship with Kaoru. He'd found out that they were a couple, yes, but he didn't know it'd been this serious.

"How long have you loved Kaoru?" Daisuke perked up at the question, "Was it when you were still playing 'The World', or was it when you met him in real life?"

"Why does it even matter?"

"Oh my gosh!" Yasuhiko exclaimed, "So you do love him! Why haven't you told him, Daisuke?!"

"I have, and he said he loved me back, but I know he's lying. It's not a conscious lie, though. I can just tell." Daisuke dryly explained, "I've felt this way for a long time, so I don't really mind it."

"For a…long time?"

"Yeah. I realized it at the end of the Network Crisis. He invited me all the time and I really enjoyed being with him. At first it was just a friendly thing, but one day…I dunno….I just…I really wanted to meet him in person." Yasuhiko slowly inhaled at the confession.

"Is that why…you've been offline all this time?"

"Haha! No. If anything…"Daisuke began, "…He was the reason I logged back on. But don't tell Ryoko or Akira that, okay?"

"HAHAHA! Sure thing! They'd probably castrate you." Yasuhiko joked, though they both knew the said girls would likely be infuriated with the truth of his sexuality. Daisuke wasn't even bisexual, he was flat out GAY, which had been complete NEWS to Shouta and Yasuhiko! It'd been less of a shock to Natsume, though, who'd apparently accidentally caught the couple making out behind the school dumpster.

"Well Daisuke…I'm sure Kaoru means what he says. You make him happy, too."

Daisuke smiled at this and happily accepted his hand to be helped up. At the sound of the bell, the two headed back into class, but as they did so, Yasuhiko relieved his temptations.

"…I…have to ask..." the teen began hesitantly, and Daisuke chuckled as if he already knew what he was going to ask, "…Did you ever…like…like me?"

"Haha! You're not my type, unfortunately, but I did think Shouta was cute. He's too old, though, so I didn't bother to react."

"Wow." Yasuhiko exclaimed at the thought of Daisuke and Shouta dating. Shouta…well…he probably wasn't gay, but it was a strange image nonetheless. They shared a lot of interests so, despite their contrasting personalities, it might've worked out. In fact, Daisuke and Mimi were really similar!
