Snapped
Daisuke felt Kaoru's grasp loosen, and then fall away. The familiar abode was drowned in blue and red lights; crewmen in blue and white were rolling someone out of the house on a stretcher. The police trailed behind the stretcher with a woman who was struggling in their grasp. She screamed something and Daisuke realized it was Kaoru's mom.
"YOU PIECE OF SHIT! YOU'LL NEVER TAKE KAORU! NEVER!" she spat, and the person in the stretcher, who must have been Kaoru's father, raised a middle finger.
"CRAZY BITCH!" he yelled back. Luckily it had gone dark, so not even the revolving lights made illuminated the boys' presence.
Kaoru then slowly backed into the sophomore and squeezed his hand.
"Daisuke let's go. Let's go." he whispered, "Let's go, please. They're going to take me away!"
Daisuke was without his bike, so it was much easier to make an escape. However, when he darted towards his own house, Kaoru tugged him back and said they'd expect him to be there.
"W-What? Then where should we go? Everything else is too far!-Oh! Let's go to the park! Shouta can pick us up from there!"
"Let's just go!" Kaoru pressed, so taking his hand, Daisuke jogged towards the local park. The streetlights offered a bit of bit of security in the otherwise pitch black scene, but they made sure to lurk only nearby. Kaoru even crouched behind him when he called Shouta.
"Hey Daisuke, what's up?" it was only seven, so he must have been up studying.
"Hey, uh….can you do me a favor?"
"Hmm? Uh…is something wrong? Why are you whispering?" Daisuke sighed at the stream of inquiries.
"…We'll explain later, but Kaoru and I need someplace to stay. Can we crash in your apartment?"
There was a long pause and a bit of shuffling in the background.
"…Are you in trouble or something?"
"…Not…in trouble, but…this is an emergency. We're in Niizato Family Park."
"All right, I'll be there soon."
Daisuke turned back towards Kaoru, though he couldn't see him that well, and assured him that Shouta was on his way. The teen deeply exhaled and placed his head on his shoulder in gratitude. They remained in that position until they heard the hum of a car. When Daisuke peeked out from the wall, however, he didn't recognize the car and thought it might've been an undercover police vehicle or something. It wasn't until Shouta got out of it and began to search the sea of black, cellphone in hand, that he relxed his posture. The driver was Mimi and Daisuke felt his cheeks warm at the realization of what they might've been doing.
"C'mon, it's Shouta!" Daisuke exclaimed as he led the way towards the university student. They greeted him under the street lamp and offered an explanation on the ride back to his apartment. Kaoru crouched down into Daisuke's lap with a blanket thrown over. It felt like they were trying to smuggle him out of the country or something!
"Sorry if we….uh…." the teen's voice faded upon noticing the red marking Mimi's neck, "…Interrupted…you…"
"Hahaha! All that matters is that you're okay. You gave Shouta quite the scare, there!"
"Yeah, what the hell is-" the car suddenly came to a halt at the sound of police sirens. The officer behind them slowly approached the car and demanded Mimi's driver's license and Immigrant card. She must not have followed through, however, as she was suddenly asked to step out of the vehicle.
"Officer? What-" Shouta was cut off as the policeman peered into the vehicle and locked glances with Daisuke.
"Ah! Mister Misaki!"
"Mister Izumi." the officer began, "We're looking for an Ichinose Kaoru and his mother says he might be with you. You haven't seen him, have you?"
"Ichinose Kaoru? O-Oh! Actually we were just on our way to see him! Was he not at home?"
"No, he's not at home. You should turn back, son."
Mimi then re-entered the car and waved in farewell as they drove back to Shouta's apartment. It wasn't until she turned that she let out a huff of frustration. Shouta offered a kiss on the cheek, which improved her mood dramatically.
"So Daisuke, what happened?" asked Mimi, glancing back at him from the rearview mirror.
"Um…" Kaoru began from under the blanket, "My parents were fighting I guess…and I think my mom snapped. They…fought a lot when they were together and when they divorced, I was able to stay with my mom, but…I know they'll take me back to Kanagawa, now."
"But Kaoru…I…-"
"I know you guys can't help me, I just…I want to be here…for just a bit longer, even if it's just tonight."
When they arrived at Shouta's apartment, Daisuke and Kaoru shared the couch while Shouta and his girlfriend shared the bedroom. Kaoru cuddled up close and braced his arm protectively.
"I don't want to leave…it's not fair! I mean, what the hell was my dad doing there anyway?" the teen cried, "He always ruins everything!"
"Oh, don't be sad. I mean, you have Mia again." Daisuke reminded, but Kaoru only shook his head.
"But I won't have you!" he argued, issuing a blush from the sophomore, "…Will you log in…at least sometimes?"
"…I…" he held his gaze, "…okay…"
The answer earned him a kiss and as the moment deepened, Daisuke fell back onto the cushion. He let out a small moan as Kaoru ground on top of him, but Daisuke was too shy to try anything else. It would've been rude to Shouta, anyway.
