Chapter 2

Adam takes his first step onto Route One. Emma taps her feet impatiently. Emma's Charmander stands at her feet.

"Hurry up!" Emma complains, already impatient with Adam's surveying of the area. "We don't have all day."

Adam jogs up to Emma, "We should battle."

Emma accepts his challenge, "Okay"

Adam releases his Squirtle out of its Pokéball. Emma's Charmander faces Squirtle.

"Charmander, use growl!"

"Squirtle, tackle!"

Charmander growls ate Squirtle. Then Squirtle tackles Charmander, pinning him to the ground.

"Use tackle again, Squirtle."

"Do something Charmander!"

Charmander looks worried and nervous as Squirtle throws him.

Emma holds out her Pokéball, "Charmander return!"

"You too Squirtle." Adam says.

Both Pokémon return to their appropriate Pokéballs.

Emma is furious. She storms away, not even looking back.

"Hey Emma!" Adam calls after her, but she does not notice.

Adam shrugs, his mind occupied by other thoughts.

He continues walking down the path, until he sees a wild Pokémon. It is a Petilil. Adam stops walking, and grabs a spare Pokéball. He throws the Pokéball at the Petilil.

The Pokéball opens up, and Petilil is sucked inside. The ball sits on the ground and shakes once, twice, three times, and finally, a fourth time.

"Woo Hoo! I got myself a new Pokémon!"

After this, Adam strolls around Route 1, training his Pokémon.

Eventually, many hours later, Adam crosses into the next town.

With the sun almost at the horizon, he explores the town. He soon finds out that the town, Ishi, exports stone.

Ishi sits in a nook between two mountain ranges, the Kaminari and the Inazuma. There is only one way to exit the town on foot besides going to Cottonwood Town: A dangerous valley called the Scar snakes between the two mountain ranges.

With the newfound information, Adam walks to the town's hotel.

When he enters he walks up to the front desk.

The attendant smiles, "Trainer Pass please"

Adam shows her his pass. She looks at it, and then types something on her computer.

After a moment, she looks at him, "Room 144. There is a package in that room for you. Have a nice day!"

Adam walks up to the third floor, and then walks to Room 144. Adam swipes his Trainer Pass in the key slot.

Sure enough, there is a package on his bed. It isn't big, about the size of a DS.

Adam plops down on the bed. He reaches over and puts the package on his lap. Adam tears off the packaging tape, and inside there are two items and a note. The note reads:

Dear Adam,

I am sorry that I was unkind to you. Professor Cottonwood sent me my own copies of these items: A Pokédex and a Pokéwatch. The Pokédex automatically records any Pokémon you meet. This makes it a handy toll to learn about the Pokémon of this world. The Pokéwatch show you the time. If you click on the side button, you can view your Pokémon's level, Hp, and moves if the Pokémon is out of its Pokéball. Warning: When this happens, the screen unfolds, and becomes a DS- shaped screen.

Adam smiles and puts the Pokéwatch on. Adam presses the side button, and the screen unfolds. Adam releases Squirtle.

"Squirtle: Max. HP. Squirtle knows: Bubble, tackle, tail whip, and withdraw. Squirtle is level 10." A voice says.

Adam withdraws Squirtle.

Adam places his Pokédex and box on his nightstand, curls up in his blankets, and then falls asleep.
