Naru knew that he had to protect Mai. He knew that Mai couldn't take care of herself.
If anything, Naru knew that not only did he have to protect her but that he wanted to protect her.
And as far as Mai was concerned, Naru would never let her know. Not yet because he knew that he would always be there to protect her.
This is my first drabble (the fact that it entered my brain and wouldn't leave me alone didn't help things) and before any of you get mad at me for not posting another chapter fic that I promised, I've almost got the first chapter done!
