Chapter 8
It was only a few days since I had ripped the kimono and Sesshoumaru returned with a new one.
If I say so myself I am getting quite good at walking, running, jumping in these getas. Well I wouldn't have gotten this far if it wasn't for that toad of a demon, Jaken. I glared his way and saw his body shake from his head to his tiny feet.
I laughed as I recalled a memory:
"Stupid human girl, that'll never impress her royalness." His lips curled into a smirk as he sat on a rock. His staff leaned against his thin, wrinkly body. I was still in the getas and the whole get up. As I clenched my fists and looked to see if Sesshoumaru and Rin were around. Good, no one. I brought my fists to my chest, erected my back and rolled my hands as a villain would do in a movie, and cracked each knuckle in turn, "Ohhh Jaken. No one is here to stop me." I took one step at a time and continued, "Sesshoumaru is far off. Rin is gathering roots with Ah Un. Any….." I leapt towards him and landed in front of him, "…last words?"
Jaken reached for his staff and swung it into the air. Lifting a finger, I wagged it in front of him," Jaken, Jaken, Jaken…" I caught his staff right above my head and clamped my left hand over the old man's mouth, "Haven't you learned yet? I'm not your typical human girl." I flung the staff across the meadow and grabbed him by his happi collar, "I dare you to scream for help." His bug eyes grew larger by the minute. All that came was a high pitched squeak.
I let go of him and let him crash to the ground. "Lord Sesshoumaru will hear of this! You will not get away with this so easily. Crazy human girl."
I turned on my heel, "I'll give to the count of ten to run….. for your life."
Again his eyes widened, he ran the opposite of me, "1…..2…..3…" I turned to him, "Skip a few …. 10!"
He looked back only to see me taking big steps and catching up. His eyes watered as tears streamed from his face to the air, he let out a frightened yell as I approached him with my hands ready to grab him.
Just as I was about to grab his happi, I felt a jerk in my movement. A sharp breeze blew past me. Jaken was in a ball on the ground waiting for his punishment.
"I told you not to fight in this kimono."
Rin came in running after Sesshoumaru and looked at the sniffling Jaken, his body was rippling with shivers. Rin walked up to him and tapped his shoulder. He gave a piercing yelp as he jumped up and pleaded, "I am sorry! Please don't kill me!"
I started laughing, Sesshoumaru shifted his gaze from me to Jaken, and Rin patted his back.
I shook myself from the memory.
Ahhh, good times.
"Valor-sama, are you thinking about hurting Master Jaken?"
l chuckled, "Just a fond memory, dear Rin."
I picked her up and started to spin, her giggles turned to laughter as she yelled faster.
Jaken scoffed as he went to attend Ah Un. I could feel Sesshoumaru's gaze on us. I slowed and let her down on the grass, she tottered to the right then tottered to the left as she saw Sesshoumaru. Her grin widened and she wobbled towards him, "Sesshoumaru-sama! The world is spinning!" she giggled as she leaned backwards, Sesshoumaru quickly caught her as he knelt down to his knees.
"Rin. You should sit down for a while." Rin nodded her head as she gripped the grass like she was on a magic carpet.
He look to me, "I see you've gotten use to your clothes and getas."
I blushed and looked at him, "well duh. Practice makes perfect."
"Now manners is all that is needed." He stepped to the right of me.
"My manners are just fi-" His pale hand took hold of my right wrist, he lifted a slender finger up to my lips, "Your manners. Mother would not appreciate how you conduct yourself."
I blew out a sigh and yanked free of his hold and crossed my arms, "Your mother," I emphasized the word mother, "needs to watch herself."
His golden eyes narrowed as he stepped in front of me, "My mother has high expectations of who is who."
I gave another sigh, then took a step back and bowed, "Yes, oh great and almighty Sesshy."
"Sesshy?" his perfectly groomed eyebrows rose in curiosity and confusion.
"That's my nickname for you. I have another, buuuuut I don't think you would like it."
Again he lifted his eyebrows, I snickered. "No. I won't tell you." Just then I felt a change in the air, I looked to my demon, he nods in agreement. We back each other feeling the air for an unknown presence.
I slide a hand to the hilt of his sword as he raises his left hand and the tip of his index finger glows an eerie green. Two demons appear from within the surrounding trees. I grasp the hilt of his sword, he knows my exact thoughts and pushes me towards Rin direction and I make a break for it.
