Kay was amazing. Twirling and swaying, feeling the music tickle her bones and sweep out all the fear in her mind. She seemed a natural, she may have not done the big moves but she was developing and showing Dean Samuels that she can mean business when she wants to. The light glowered down upon her face, and the small group of children watched solemnly- Kay knew she shouldn't have organised it on a Monday morning...
Maddy fidgeted and groaned, feeling the darkened veins scattered and spread through her body. Heat overtook her and the wolf howled within. It had been unbearable; watching Kay become top dog when Maddy herself could pull put the moves faster than baying at the moon. Energy was consuming her; she had to let it out somehow... Rhydian nudged her playfully, smirking at her animalistic reactions. He was so not used to her being a wolf.
"She's amazing." Katrina muttered.
"She's SO good." Confirmed Kara.
The comments were cheesy enough to tip her off the edge- who would want to compliment a k?
"Go, Kay!" The two remaining Kay's cheer and natter behind maddy and Rhydian, perching on the seats next to Tom. Rhydian frowned darkly.
"Maddy? Maddy?" Rhydian said and he gingerly touched her on the bare skin on her arm sending those ripples of electricity through their bodies like a tidal wave. Rhydian gasped briefly- that didn't help the wolfblood at all. "You OK, Mads?"
"Dean Samuels is checking her out! -" Kara said to Katrina.
Suddenly, Maddy was gone. Charging down the hall towards the Golden spot on the dance floor. Rhydians frown deepened and a twinge of anger hit him -why Dean Samuels of all people, why the boy everyone likes- or should like?
"Maddy?" Rhydian called.
"What's she doing?" Tom mutters tapping the tousled boy on the stiff shoulder in front. Rhydian shrugged and moving constantly in his seat. He saw Maddy push Kay away and grin, seeing Kay veil in the shadows he always hates- those shadows of other presences who can't give a stuff about the nobody who is forgotten. This is Maddy Smith, the popular kid mark 2- Rhydian thought she will reform but as the saying goes throughout the smith family a wolf can't change its scent.
"Maddy! Maddy! Mad-dy! Mad-dy! Mad-dy!"
By the time Dean Samuels was cheering for her name as the female wolf dances, Rhydian Morris had left the room, anger fills him and the sound of her voice batters his head. He charges down the corridor, and slumps next to his locker, next to Maddy's locker. He closes his eyes and lets the music wash over him. Anger fills him again- what the heck is this sort of music anyway?
Eventually the music died down. He sighed. Clatters of chairs and applauds echo's from the hall, and herds of children charge through the corridor, giggling and laughing on the way. Rhydian's eyes trail to the three k's, and he heaves, observing Kay's sunken face as she clutches her trainers and gym bag to her chest.
"Despite that being entertaining, Your behaviour is totally unacceptable, Acting out is not cool-"
"That was cool, Maddy! "
"Yeah, nice one."
Evanescent voices grows stronger and Rhydian bustles past the school student, witnessing Maddy looking monotonously at Mr Timothy Jeffries.
"You're walking on very thin ice, young lady!" Jeffries scowls, and glanced at Rhydian, squinting at him dubiously.
"Rhydian where did you go half way through assembly?" The historian demands, Rhydian licks his chapped lips nervously and his stooped shoulders lower once more. Maddy looks away, not even staring at him. Ouch.
"I needed air."
"Didn't you think to tell an adult before?"
"Well no one would notice me Sir." Rhydian pauses bitterly, and this time Maddy's empty eyes brighten as she stares at Mr Morris. "Everyone was so transfixed on Maddy and her amazing dance moves." Rhydian grits his teeth, and nods.
"Well next time ask or you could have been seriously harmed, what if a fire had happened?"
" I know sir, sorry sir."
"good." Jeffries shuffles slightly and nods back in response before 'angrily' storming off into the other direction. Maddy smiles and smirks before her face dropped a bit at the sight of rhydians. This was serious.
"You almost lost it!" Rhydian hollers half the school glanced at them but Rhydian didn't care, he never cared. Maddy rolled her eyes and began walking, Rhydian followed behind her like a slapped neglected puppy (no offence to dogs or owners)
"I had it under control."
"Yeah right, you made Kay look like a complete idiot."
"And those lot make Shannon look like a complete idiot every day."
"Don't forget one of those people was you Mads." Maddy flinches, Rhydian really spat that Mads in her face. She halted abruptly, smelling the stench of rotting sweat all around, and Rhydian's sweet acrylic scent, leaving a tingling metallic face on her tongue. Maddy Smith swivelled round to face the sombre boy and breathed in everything, dark veins melting her skin as she shoved her hands inside her fluffy pockets.
"It's complicated."
"I can do complicated, been doing it all my life."
"It's me wolf."
" explain"
"Look After your first transformation, it's crazy as you can wolf-out in a second but you need to lighten up, Kay will be fine."
"Well you're still a donut." Rhydian muttered his hard expression softening. Rhydian licked his lips subconsciously. Maybe Rhydian knows it but he thought about things too deep. Maddy laughed a little. "Admit that you're a donut Mads."
"I'm a donut."
"And..."
"I'm the worst donut to eat."
"Glad you know that." Rhydian grinned cheekily, and sighed as they walk down the corridor, their hands brushing next to each other ever so often. Maddy pusherd past Kay and Dean, shoving them closer together so it appeared that they was in a tight embrace. Rhydian shook his head and laughed lightly.
"Don't be cupid when you're older Maddy." Rhydian whispered in her ear and she whipped her back seeming offended.
"I won't, I'll be cupidess with a bit extra on the side."
Rhydian discontinued and watched his girlfriend wander down the corridor. His expression became distorted and baffled as he urged not to laugh where there were children everywhere.
"So are you and Maddy a thing yet?" Dean voice rang into Rhydian's head and he turned around, grappling at his bag strap that hangs on one shoulder.
He didn't know how to answer that, he hadn't even told his foster parents that he and Maddy were more than best friends- let alone a attention seeking human. But if he doesn't tell dean then Mr Samuels is gonna go in for the kill…
"whats it to you?"
Dean had a smirk tugging at his lips and he yawned casually by his locker, flicking his hair a little. "I like her street dancing, she could teach me some dancing and a few other things."
"Yeah well Mads doesn't teach, she may love it but its pretty instinctual."
"How do you know?"
"Because I know Maddy, unlike any other of the loosers like you." Rhydian groused and turned on his heal, breathing in and out from his tightened chest as his raspy breaths become more compressed. Kay observed beside the photography room, biting her lips as Kara and Katrina consoled her, darkness glinting in their eyes.
"Don't worry, Kay. We can use this to our advantage." Kara said. "Hey Rhydian!" Kara beckons and Rhydian cautiously looked up. He narrows his eyes and trotted towards the trio.
"What do you want."
"Kay wants to know if you want to come to her birthday party." Kara exclaimed, katrinas face lit up like la and Kay grinned- a little, all their hearts escalating.
"Why me!"
"Everybody who's anybody's gonna be there-"
" it's gonna be hugs!" Katrina added from Karas proposal and they frowned as Katrina work out what she just said. Rhydian raisesd his eyebrow and flattens his tousled hair subtly, staring at them in awe making the three adolescents shiver- even Kay of all people...
"OK."
"It's eight-thirty on Friday, you can take Maddy if you want."
"Why Maddy?"
"Because you two are close, isn't it obvious." Kara smirked and rolled her eyes as Rhydian scoffs slightly, rubbing the tip of his nose quickly and casually. He glared at the three of the girls and darkness echo's and his face is just plain yet a sombre ambiance envelops them all.
"And?" Rhydian inquires, Kara brands a wily smile. Boy doesn't she love it. Karas voice became finely tuned and her bittersweet melody strummed his heart over and over and over again at every word she spoke:
"Maddy was always popular, top dog and too cool for school, shes definitely someone who's worth asking."
"I'm not stupid."
"Please Rhydian."
"But he'll go if Maddy goes." Rhydian whispers.
"Who?" Kay said, she twiddles her thumbs and innocently hides behind her fitness kit back.
"Dean, he fancies Maddy not kay, its that obvious?" Rhydians voice turned to gravel and careless looks hit them like bullets.
"Not if Maddy doesn't turn up. Then Dean will love Kay and her street moves not little I'm so miss popular."
Rhydian pauses and kicked the ground faintly. "I can't."
"Everyone needs a taste of their own medicine every now and again." Katrina informed and she happily patted Rhydian on the shoulder. The laughing behind never ceasing.
"Just look behind you." Kara said, and the four of them can't help see Dean hand maddy a crippled piece of paper to her nervously. Digits were scattered on the paper and Rhydian didn't wanna believe it but-the digits are in a straight neat line. When had dean ever done neat?
"Is that a phone number-ow!" Katrina groaned, rubbing her excruciatingly warm leg and Kay lunged closer towards Rhydian, smelling the sweat pour off his body and he heaves and lets his mouth escape a pained stifled sniffle.
"Don't worry leave it to me." Rhydian declared facing towards the trio and Karas face tightened and her lips rise onto the circumference of a semicircle.
"Leave what to you?" Katrina asked, rolling her bleached hair into small ringlets.
" Call it a little birthday present." Rhydian hinted nodding towards Kara.
"A present from you." Kay confirmed baffled-Rhydian Morris-really?
"OK. Leave it to us." Rhydian barked and strode down the corridor towards food tec and classroom of averages.
That felt like a massive blur, the plot was done within a memory of time.
Rhydian opens the door and nods apologetically at his teacher, bustling towards his space next to maddy. He simpers a little noticing his food is messily laid out in front and his skips on an apron from behind him in the cupboard. Maddy skips past and eyes him suspiciously, smelling the ks from a mile away; Rhydian shrugs and begins chopping the crisp acerbic onions with the sharpened blade, dodging pastry ends flinging everywhere from Sam and Liam. Shannon and Tom come back to their counter and gives rhydian a sweet grin, copying his technique of not trying to cut the onion roots.
"OK, that was weird. I've just been invited to Kay's birthday party." Rhydian drops his knife down frantically and watches Kay Kara and katrina enter the intoxicating room. The ks monitor the lad deliver his lines perfectly, every syllable getting closer to the icing of Kay's birthday cake.
"They didn't invite me. None of us except you." Maddy says, Rhydian violently jumps as he sees the brunette next to him stirring her meat with her eyebrows furrowed-when did she come back?!
"Don't cry, Maddy i wasn't invited either!" Tom remarks and she chucks some rotten vegetable peel at him making the pack chuckle for a few seconds.
" Tom.I couldn't care less.
Neither does Rhydian hes not going." Maddy assumes, scoffing at the idea of her alpha leaving her for the party.
"but everybody whos anybody is going." Rhydian retorts and his voice is gravelled and scraped all their ears like nails on polystyrene.
" Erm It's Shannon's movie night Friday." Tom says awkwardly and Rhydian laughs in response.
"Yeah, I know I wasn't gonna go! "
"Glad!" Shannon sardonically mutters and she trudges off into the wilderness, Tom closely followed behind her. Maddy swivels round and whacks her alpha on the arm extremely hard.
"What you're doing?" Maddy commands and black veins crawl up and down her hands.
"Cooking raw meat." Rhydian innocently replies, weirdly staring at her as his fingers point to his bowl of slimy blood splashed minced beef. Maddys face turns serious, cocking one eyebrow disapprovingly.
"Thinking about this party more than the pack?"
"No."
"Yes."
"So what if I am?"
"I thought you wasn't hypercritical in these sort of situations."
"Really?" Rhydians voice breaks a little and he faintly touches her sauce splattered cheek, they eyes never leaving each others transfixes and piercing glows of eternal fire and desire.
"You're right. I was going to go anyway." Rhydian scoffs but maddy glares at him suspiciously, nibbling on his meat raw.(fresh from the packet.)
After many minutes of scrambling and cooking and washing the flour dredged tables, it was over, and lunch had mounted on them. Maddy and the pack left for lunch, leaving their food in the school storage cub board.
Rhydian sighs and places his silver looking stake and chips on the dinner table beside Maddy's. Shannon and Tom soon joins them and they sit down to eat. Maddy growls a little and darkly stares at Rhydian, who ravenously is gobbling his food in seconds. Rhydian slows down, slowly, he turns his head to face his alpha. He gulps. That look gave it all away.
"You alright mate, indigestion problems?" Tom asks, Shannon laughs omnisciently and Maddy shakes her head in fury.
"Yeah indigestion problems." Rhydian murmurs, frantically he gets up and rushes towards the ks lair near dean. But dean isn't noticing Kay, but maddy smith. Rhydians maddy smith.
"Rhydian what can we do for you?" Kara coos, falsely smiling and Rhydian turns away from deans presence sharply, letting his hands unfold from the anger...
"Guess what everyone's invited to the party night so now We can all go." Exclaims Rhydian, bounding from one end of the hall to the other. He slumps back on his chair gleefully but no one stirs from the appalled look.
"You're kidding, right? The Ks don't exactly like me." Shannon bitterly says, and Mr Morris's face inflates like a bouncy ballon, his eyes turning to his next victim.
"Don't be stupid, you don't like them." Rhydian responds.
"I think I'm more intelligent than you Rhydian!"
"Tom?"
"Nah mate, I'm with Shannon."
"Why you?" Maddy commands poking Rhydian on the arm, he innocently turns his body to face the pumped up wolf girl.
"what?"
"Cos you're suddenly so popular why?"
"Come on, nice to feel free." Rhydian feigns a cheesy smile and draws in a ragged breath.
"Don't be so naive! -" maddy remarks, but Rhydians eyes darkens and vexation hits him likes the silver splashes of the midnight sky.
"Naive?!"
"There's always an ulterior motive with them, They don't actually like you and I know their type. Today they think you're cool. Tomorrow you'll just be no one to them." Maddy spits, and glowers at the three girls laughing and chatting with each other, actually being happy.
"That's stupid just because you converted to plain old Maddy Smith." Rhydian bellows, Tom and Shannon groan awkwardly and Rhydian bites his tongue until red liquid dribbles out.
Whoops.
"At least I was something Rhydian. Even if we're plain."
"You aren't plain maddy, the ks are."
"Oh yeah seeing as you hang out with them more, your brand new friends."
"Like you care, you don't even notice me half the time. At least the ks do, maybe they're the interesting one, maybe your just boring and plain because cool is just way out of your league!"
"Well this plain old maddy smith knows the k's, I'm guessing your kattinas love sick puppy or karas calculator when she's diing money schemes? And Kay is reserved for dean who is so not all over me. Is that how it is?"
"It's not like that Mads."
"What is it then?"
"It's.. Complicated."
"So is life." maddy looks down and neither of them meet each others eyes. Lethargically, Rhydian grabs his food and gingerly stands, pain spray paints his cheeks and he kicks his chair away. Tom and Shan give an apologetic smile and, affirmatively, Rhydian nods.
"Well, count me out of movie night." Rhydian grumbles and turns back on his heels towards the three ks, he didn't even look back. Maddy drops her fork and groans.
The bell rings and still no sign of Maddy. Rhydian sits in the corner of the room, doodling on his battered planner dismally.
"Who's the new? Maddy!" Kay screeches, Rhydian looks up bewildered. His mouth drapes open and his eyes widen on their own. Maddy struts in the room, purple lipstick lacing her lips and cosmetics cake her angular face ,coral and blue extensions lapping her swan neck greedily. Her olive tie, hangs loose from her crumpled shirt that remains untucked. Rhydian could just see the veins crisscrossing her hand. Mr Jeffries looks up and laughs a little, ticking and marking students work, leaning back casually. Maddy plonks in the chair near the back. Rhydian could smell the perfume already- it was intoxicating.
" Maddy!" Tim remarks sardonically, feeling his witty banter rise from within. "Who dressed you this morning out of interest Lady Gaga? "
"Who dressed you, this morning, sir? Your grandma?" Maddy says. Even Rhydian can't help but muster a smile.
"Well, I don't know why you're still sitting there. Get. Out." The class goes quiet as Jeffries gleaming glare sends Maddy packing, Maddy smirks and flaunts her looks before calmly walking out of the door. Shannon and Tom discreetly shuffle over to Rhydians table, facing the broody boy.
"What's happened to Mads." Tom whispers, his breath hitches and Shannon and Rhydian stare at him weirdly.
"We need a plan." Rhydian states and Shannon nods in agreement.
"Firstly we need a motive, why would she do this."
"To get attention, what else?" Shannon scoffs harshly.
"Because she wants to look better." Tom Suggests.
"No, hair extensions and a bit of slap is not beautiful. You know what. I can sort this out myself." Rhydian barks and he gathers his books and bag, storming out if the room angrily, even when it's not the end of tutorial.
"Rhydian Morris!" Mr Jeffries bellows, but Rhydian is gone, the door slamming on his way out.
"Let him be sir." Shannon pleads grousing slightly and Jeffries nods his head, but the ks just shake theirs violently.
"Rhydian!" Maddys voice echoes and he spins around to see her by Jeffries door, her arms folded and her back against the wall.
"Mads, what happened last night?" Rhydian utters, maddy shifts uncomfortably and purses her lips together. "I don't have time for this."
"You was the one saying how plain I am, even with me wolf I'm not as interesting as katrina."
Rhydian discontinues walking off and his ears burn. Obstinately, he swivels round and storms back to Maddy. "You know that's not what I meant."
"You should know me wolf."
"I know you but I don't get you, there's everyone else who gets you but they don't know you. Be the maddy I know and get, talk to me mads, it's killing me to see you act like this when I know you aren't you aren't like this. Please just talk to me." Rhydian urges, he scrutinises her cold face, seven millimetres apart and maddy could hear Rhydians pulse in rhythm with hers, their breaths mingling and hurt struck her like a time bomb.
"One day."
The ks trot along the science lab, goggles in one hands and their other hand placed on their curved bony hips. Kara dumps the plastic goggles on Rhydians table, causing him to jump violently and groan as he looks up at three hotheaded faces.
"How's this the plan?" Kara hisses.
"I needed to trigger her off, she won't let her friends down but she hates me."
"How does that help?" Kay whines.
"Now she hates me so I'm going to give her a bit of her own medicine. Hey guys what about the village hall?"
"For what?" Kara demands and Rhydian clasps his eyes shut, internally groaning.
"My foster parents like to drag me there, and sometimes there's an oldies fitness workout thing. On Friday." Rhydian whispers and karas eyes beam in the artificial sunlight, radiating the dark concoctions planned over one night.
"Rhydian I love you!" Kara screams and the whole class stared at them strangely.
"Miss Smith, this is science, not a circus." Miss parish exhorts, Rhydian turns around to see Maddy flinging the test tube in the air, carelessly letting the green slime dribble out as the throws get higher. Suddenly, Maddy slows.
"Yeah, I'm testing gravity." the test tube is dropped. "Oh look It works." The class sniggers, and the K's walk back to their tables, admiring Maddy's hair in the process. Maddy's grin drops a little as her eyes land on Rhydians and she quickly turns the other way, glad she never got to see her alpha shake his head.
"Well, that was mature!" Rhydian whispers, but Maddy hears it in a flash.
"I'm not the one who cries at night, weeping for a mother who you don't even know, i mean how mature is that?" Maddy fires, shouting across the entire class, cackles echo and Rhydian flinches. He hides his face behind the Bunsen burner and doesn't look up, salty tears jab his eyes as the laughs smother him piece by piece.
"Yeah, freak." Jimi adds, extending his eyebrow and gaining a high five from Maddy.
"jimi be quiet! Maddy, you can clear that up, and come and see me at lunchtime for detention." Miss Paris hollers, Maddy groans and stumbles to the sink. The day had just begun.
"Mads, where you going?" Rhydian angrily calls, storming after the girl.
" Running helps." Maddy mutters and abruptly halts, letting Rhydian catch up with her. "After my transformation I need to let off steam."
"So do I." Rhydian barks and remorse enters Maddy's mind. It was just a joke right?
"Rhydian I'm-"
"Why?" The boys face softens and they sigh.
"We wasn't thinking."
"And that makes it better."
"Cut me some slack human boy." Maddy growls, but Rhydians eyes narrow and he shuffles back a little.
"I get it, just because I'm not one of you, I'll never understand."
"Rhydian you're a human, I'm wolf."
"I see ok then. I'll just mingle with the zombies in the cafeteria then." Rhydian spits, and bustles off the other direction, his shoulders stoop and her heart drops a few feet.
"Rhydian!" Maddy calls, but its too late.
Rhydians peaceful lunchtime in the darkroom with his notepad and pencil is harshly interrupted. Chanting invades the darkroom and Rhydian couldn't concentrate. Curiosity struck him through the heart. Quickly, he leaves to investigate.
"Maddy Maddy Maddy woohoo!" The crowd already cheers for her name. Rhydian wait, standing at the back of the crowd, as Maddy shows off her extremely 'good' street dancing moves. Eventually Maddy stops, and the crowd begins to break away. Until, eventually, Rhydians the only one there. He glares darkly at her and walked with her as she scuttles down the corridor.
"Look, I get it. Right now, it seems like nothing matters but the wolf. You know normal people can't street-dance without practise? Don't you think it seemed odd? You're using your powers to show off."
"How do you know?"
"theres somethings humans can do that wolfbloods cant."
Maddy halts and turns to face Rhydian, a contemptuous look spread on both their faces. "You sound like me."
"Then maybe you should take your own advice."
"I'll pass."
"Maddy hates me." Rhydian groans, sitting with Shannon and Tom in Bernies.
"She doesn't, I don't even know how you got her to go out with you." Tom utters, smirking a little. Shannon pulls a face and she watches Rhydian's eyes widen in astonishment, shuffling to the window away from them both.
"You know?"
"Everyone knows." Shannon remarks.
"Brilliant. How am I going to fix this?"
"Ask Bernie."
"Tom no." Shannon sternly exhorts.
"He sells aftershave fiver and a free bus time table." Tom advises, Rhydian softly smiles and fishes out a fiver.
"That's a terrible idea." Shannon says, but Rhydian ignores her, shuffling past her to see Bernie.
"Aftershave is manly." Rhydian mutters to himself, but its too late Shannon's cackling reveals all.
It better be SO worth it.
"Oi Rhydian!"
Rhydian stops in the school corridor, confused as a Maddy emulate storms up to him with her friend, something or other. Rhydian raises his eyebrows, not letting anything deter his positive mood on getting the old Maddy back. "Becky! What can I do for you?"
"Your girlfriends been spreading foul rumours about me and there's been a crack down on all make up because of her."
"Let's talk." Rhydian leads Becky into the darkroom eagerly. The k's watch happily.
"Stage three complete." Kara mutters with wide eyes and perfect teeth flashing through a perfect grin.
"Dancing helps." Rhydian bashfully explains, Becky twiddled her hair, gulping slightly.
"What?"
"Release of emotion-dancing helps." Rhydian stutters. He steps closer to the human, and takes her hand, reaching her any type of dance move possible. Oh he hopes Maddy comes into school...
"What's that smell." Maddy demands from Shannon and Tom, right outside darkroom.
"Rhydians cheap aftershave." Tom cooly exclaims, gaining a playful push from Miss Kelly.
"Not that smell, taylor swift perfume."
"Becky?" Kara interjects, the k's nod, knowing all about perfume and who wears what. Maddy's ears burn and she scowls, deep vexation swirling in her burning orbs.
"What!" Maddy swings open the darkroom door to observe Becky and Rhydian in a compromising situation, with their foreheads pressed against each other. They break apart, both breathing heavily and Maddy could smell the stench if sweet intoxicating her nose. She wanted it gone. She needed that human gone.
"I'm gonna go." Becky whispers and Rhydian gives her an apologetic smile before she slides past Maddy without another word. Rhydian locks the door and growls, human or not.
"Becky's crying because of you! Foul rumours crack down on make up." Rhydian hollers, this time both their foreheads are pressed together, Maddys inked veins crawling up her body. She pushes his sturdy shoulders angrily, her snarks getting louder and louder.
"It's just having a bit of fun.l unlike that."
"Nothing happened!"
"Know what I am going to that party."
"Kara's right, you are a freak!" Rhydian hisses, storming out and leaving Maddy to kick some chairs and growl for a very very very very long time...
"Kay!" Maddy shouts, running up to them outside their maths classroom.
"Eight thirty village hall." Kay happily says, Maddy devilishly smiles.
"Oh ok. Got it."
"Hey Mads." Dean interjects, pulling her closet to him. Rhydian watches from the side lines, and hers and Rhydians eyes meet contact, but Rhydian walks on.
"Mads?" Maddy whispers, she never gave dean permission to say that, then shading she never gave Rhydian permission- but Rhydian has always been different to the rest.
"Coming to the party?"
"Yeah cool."
"Same cant wait see you later."
"Sweet!" Maddy bitter sweetly murmurs, and the K's just glare at them both, Kay's heart slowly sinking.
*************************************** "What do I say if people ask where Maddy is? Do I tell then she's at the village hall?" Rhydian inquires, placing the organic cheese sandwiches down on the link dusted table. Katrina rolls her eyes and flicks her hair womanly.
"No, Rhydian Just repeat the question back to them, Works every time!"
"What do you mean?"
" What do YOU mean?" Katrina rhetorically questions. Rhydian looks puzzled and he repeats the question back.
" What do you mean?"
"What do YOU mean?"
"Wow Cool!" Rhydian sardonically murmurs, grabbing dime breadsticks and moving in, he couldn't listen to that any longer. Instead he phone the smiths:
"Hey Mrs S, it!s mads shes going to the party."
"You sure it'll work?"
"Positive."
"Hi, Dean What do you think?"Kay asked when he stepped through pink pink and more pink. Dean was speechless.
"Yeah its It's cool." That's the only way dean could describe it. Dean slowly edges away from the k's and lunged over to Rhydian, who was morosely in the corner with a paper cup full of squash.
"You seen mads." Dean innocently questioned.
"Have you seen mads?" Rhydian echoed. Dean frowned at him worldly and walked off without another world. Rhydian sighed bashfully, he needed was for Mads to come and cause a palaver. The clock was ticking.
"Sadly, Maddy had another dancing engagement tonight." Kara screamed as the music stopped. everyone groaned but Rhydian smirked a little. He loved playing dirty. " But we have something even better for you! Kay and her amazing street-dancing moves!"
Kay was ok. Twisting and bobbing, feeling the rhythm of the music warp her body. Buy within seconds, the back door slammed shut and Maddy pushed past Rhydian, he could already see the veins on her hands. He grabbed Maddys trembling hands and pulled her closer. Nearly forgetting the juice was in his hands.
"What are you doing?" Rhydian hissed, vexation pumping through his eyes.
"I'm going to show Kay who's top dog!"
"Are you crazy?!"
"No."
"This is her birthday, it's not the Maddy show every time."
"So stop making out like it is."
"So you're giving up on us."
"No."
"Then leave."
"What?"
"Stay then we're done, leave then you can blow off some steam."
The hesitation gave Rhydian the advantage.
Rhydian had Maddy's slender wrist grasped tightly into his masculine hold. He darted ahead of her and started dragging her along with him, up the matted staircase, with each step making a ear battering thump. With great effort, Rhydian hauled her into Kay's bedroom- pink blinding them both. Maddy growled. Rhydian and Maddy charged towards the door, Rhydian attempting to lock and maddy yearning too be freed; with Maddy being a bit more 'violent' than the human had anticipated. She kicked and scratched, her eyes burning mustard seeds in her inflated pupils and black veins scaling down her neck like lead had been etched on her paper like skin. Rhydian rolled his eyes and locked the door.
"mads calm down." Rhydians voice became rattled and it morphed into something more aggressive as each syllable was uttered.
Maddy's eyes were now burning butterscotch, and they pierced Rhydians blue eyes, she started inhaling deeply, but it wasn't the angry type of breathing, this time Maddy was in control and wanted to be on the verge of transforming. Another argument with Rhydian, and the humiliation from her own alpha. She could smell the fear, the deceit. The love? Maddy snarled, and she had, had enough. Rhydian shook off the deep rooted fear and securely put his hands on her shoulders so she couldn't move- not even for a wolfblood.
"Madeline breathe." Rhydian looked deep into the centre of her, carefully smashing her window to her soul and just watched her wolf, on fire, alive. Alone?
"What do you think I'm doing or do you think I'm going to fall in love with air now?" Maddy remarked, her eyes burned brighter than the midnight moon.
"Look mads I'm sorry."
"That's rich, I knew you was trouble all along."
"Like you've never been bad."
"Why do we keep going round in circles." Maddy said, her breathe hitched and her veins darken. Rhydians pained eyes narrowed and his grip released off Maddy, letting his tensed muscles relax.
"Look. Really look at yourself Maddy. You want to look and act like this. You're not a cub mads you're a wolf, so stop acting like a cub."
He tenderly planted a soft kiss on her forehead, letting his lips linger there for a few seconds, before glaring into Maddy's captivated eyes. He could still feel her heavy heartbeat, even if he was human and her veins won't eradicate, they just gazed at each other, and her wolf pulsed beauty into Rhydians own eyes, both of them being themselves(even when one looks like a washed up sponge). Rhydian laughed and remembered how the pink and balloons were surrounding them and they were in Kay's bedroom. In Kay's.
"What am I Rhydian?" Maddys voice was soft and brittle, metallic tears sweltered from her red times irises and her head cowered, allowing the tears to drop like a tornado.
"A messed up kid who has supernatural genetics and lives by the call of the wild." Rhydian faintly whispered, leaning over to her ear, only audible for Maddys ears. "Know what? Your wolf is fine." Rhydian stood tall again, and lifted Maddys chin up, tracing the veins on her body, only flinching when he felt the fire.
"can you feel me wolf?" She breathes, and Rhydian enveloped her as she wept like a rusted drain pipe.
"I feel you mads." Rhydian manages a nod, clutching her tighter like a broken rag doll, so, so broken.
"Maddy are you ok?" A knock on the door interrupted them. Maddy reluctantly pulled away and they both grunted. Dean.
"I'm fine."
"She's with me." Rhydian added, he looked at his alpha smirking, seeing a smile light up her face.
"Oh."
Footsteps lingered outside the door before creaking down the stairs. Away from the door. Away from Maddy.
"Mads." Rhydian muttered, fiddling with the hair extensions playfully.
"Yeah?" Maddy dubiously asked.
"Lay off the cool for a bit yeah?"
Maddy rolled her eyes and huffed a little, grinning.
"Whatever."
