What is this thing you ask? Well to put it simply, it's something that makes the world go round. A thing that when returned; you feel like you can do the impossible. Chapter 5: The Almost Perfect Day

"LUCY! IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP!"

Ugh, that had to have topped the record for the worst alarm clock in history. I slowly open my eyes to see that it was my pink-haired partner who obnoxiously woke me up.

"Natsu, SHUT THE F*CK UP!" I yell. I'm usually not the person to curse, but I'm really REALLY cranky when I wake up in the morning on the wrong side of the bed.

"Hey, ladies need to watch their mouths." he replied.

"Whatever. What do you want at 8:00 in the morni-...OH CRAP! We're going to be late for our train! Why didn't you wake me up earlier!"

"Wait. Hold up Luc-"

"Move! I need to get my clothes, and start arranging my bags!"

"Well...I guess that would be necessary if we were actually leaving."

"...what do you mean 'if'? "

"I mean...that we're not leaving today."

"Wait, what do you mean?"

"*sighs* Do I have to spell it out for you? We're not L-E-A-V-I-"

"Ok, ok. I get it. But I'm confused. Weren't you the one that said the mission was 3 days. Today's the third day so don't we like,...need to get out of here?"

"Hmm..."Natsu thought thinking hard.

FLASHBACK

"Oh, I see. Ah, Lucy we have a new job to do today."

"Really?"

"Yeah it's for three days, but we have to go in an hour."

"Eh?! Seriously! I haven't even packed yet!"

FLASHBACK END

"...Did I? Sorry Lucy, I can't remember."

Of course he wouldn't remember. "You know what, I'm just going to go back to bed if that's alright with you."

"No you can't do that. You need to go get changed into something good, and eat breakfast."

"Are we going somewhere?"

"Yep. But it's a surprise. Just hurry."

"...ok?"

I wonder what he's up to now.

"No looking now." Natsu told me as he covered my eyes while walking to this "secret" place.

"How can I look with your big fat hands in my face?"

"Hey, they are NOT big and fat. They're just particularly muscular."

"Uh-huh. Yeah, that's totally it." I replied back sarcastically.

"Hey at least I got muscles. Your practically as skinny as you can get."

"Well, as a girl I'll take that as a compliment."

"But you chest though is-"

"And the conversation ends there!" I said before things got awkward.

"Aw. Come on Lucy. I forgot how long the walk was to get there so I'm going to get bored if you don't talk to me."

"Fine then give me hints to where we're going"

"Yeah, not happening."

"Please. I'm really curious. How about we play a yes or no question game to give m details. I'll slowly guess what the place looks like, and you'll answer with a yes or no."

"...I guess we can do that."

"Cool." I expressed in delight. "So is the place big?"

"Yep."

"Is it pretty?"

"Yep."

"Does it have disgusting toads?" I asked starting to get silly.

"Yep."

?...He said it was pretty though..."So, the place is pretty right?"

"Yep."

Hmmm... "Is the place small?"

"Yep."

I knew it. "Your just going to say 'yep' to every question I ask aren't you?"

"Yep."

Ugh, why did I even try with this guy?

"Oh, don't be like that Lucy. Thanks to that little game of yours we're here."

"We are? Can I look now then?"

"Wait for it...ok I'm going to let go now."

As he released his hands, what my eyes found left me in pure shock of amazement.

"Ch-...Cherry Blossoms?!"

"That's right. I'm the best guy in the world aren't I?" Natsu asked with pride.

"But...it's summer time isn't it?!"

"Yeah. But cherry blossoms grow all year in this town. I thought it was pretty cool so I wanted you to check it out with me together."

That's when I started to put all the pieces to the puzzle together. "So...is that why you told me this was a 3 day mission?"

"Well...if you want to put it that way..." he replied.

But I could tell from his slght blush and lack of eye contact that I was right on the money.

This guy surprises me every single day. "Natsu, that's really sweet of you. Thanks."

"Heh, heh. No problem. Now lets go before the fair ends!" he said grabbing my wrist.

"Ha ha ha. ok!" I replied smiling.

"That was so much fun!" Natsu yelled.

"Yeah it was!" I yelled back.

This had to be one of the best days in terms of me just having fun. We played, we ate, danced,...it was just amazing. Now just firework time to make this almost perfect day perfect.

"Lucy! Race me to the top of this hill!"

"Jeez, don't you have too much energy."

Well I can't blame him...that's just Natsu after all. I'll always love him for...love him...damn. When this day was going all well too. Why do I have to think about this now?

"Hey Lucy..."

"...oh, uh yes Natsu."

"Is everything ok?"

"Huh?...oh yeah totally."

"...your not trying to hide anything from me again right?"

"No that's not it."

"Well...if you say so..." he gave in as he turned around anxiously waiting for the fireworks.

It's no use, the more I try to get the topic out of my head the more I start thinking about it. Natsu...even if I keep it in it's going to bother me all night at this point. And I don't want another fight with him. I'm sorry that I might ruin our day like this but if I never get to know then when will I? ...here goes I guess...

"Hey...Natsu..."

"Yeah?" he asked turning around to look at me again.

"Is it okay if I have my answer now?"

"Answer?"

"you know...from yesterday..."

"Oh that..."

I can never forget the events that occurred from that time.

LAST NIGHT

"I'll ask one more time. Lucy Heartfillia, are you in love with me?"

...oh no. This is bad...thisisbadthisisbadthisisbadthisisbad! What should I do?...no. It's moments like these where you just have to be honest. It just wouldn't be fair to Natsu...or myself for that matter.

"...yes" I quietly answered.

"Eh?"

"Yes." I said louder this time. " I am in love with you Natsu."

"Oh..." he replied.

Oh?

That's never a good answer. " Hey, what's 'oh' supposed to mean?!" I asked irritated.

"No, no, you got it wr-"

"Look, can I just get a answer!" I cut in.

But Natsu wouldn't even look at me. I can't believe this is happening. The tension is killing me, I can't take this any longer.

"Natsu, just forget it. It's fi-"

"Can I have time?" he interrupted me.

"What?" I asked

"I'm asking if I can have time Lucy."

"...yeah...

...yeah I guess that's fine..."

Things were silent for a few moments. I'm imagining this wasn't the amount of time Natsu was thinking of.

"Lucy..."

"...yeah"

"To me...if not the best, your one of my very best friends a guy could possibly ask for...but..."

"...but?"

"I don't think I love you the way you love me...so...I'm sorry."

*BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!*

"Hey Natsu look the fireworks started."

"Lucy?"

"ahahaha. So pretty..."

"Wait lucy, are you al-"

"Alright? yeah, couldn't be better ahaha"

"But... your crying..."

I feel my cheeks and sure enough there's tears present on my face.

"Oh,...yeah it's a really bad habit of mine. You know crying without realizing it. But we should enjoy these firewoks so don't worry about me." I say trying to wipe the tears.

"Lucy...you know I can't just do that..."

But I wouldn't listen.

"I'm sorry, they won't stop for some reason. It's *hic* strange huh *hic* I...I...just can't *hic*...I'm sorry Natsu."

"...don't be."

I was suddenly pulled into a sudden embrace with Natsu. His arms wrapped around my waist as my head landed on his warm chest.

"Natsu. What are you-"

"Shhh, just don't think about it."

"But...but you're..."

His tighten on his grip was a sign for me to stop taking. All that was left for me to do was to cry. It's all I felt like I could do at this point anyway.

So I did.

And boy did I. I didn't even care about how wet I was getting Natsu clothes now. All these emotions had to be released. And honestly, if there was anybody I knew that could comfort me from this pain, it was Natsu.

But...

at the same time it hurts...

I love him..

I even confessed to prove it...

but I was rejected...
