A/N: I've had the busiest 2 weeks you guys. No joke! That is why I am so behind on this story. But, let's not dwell on that shall we. Here is the next chapter. Happy Reading! - My longest chapter yet.
Kill & Collect
Chapter 7
The three of them rode the rest of the way to Frost's house in his small pickup. The trip took less than ten minutes and they were soon parking in front of a two story home that looked fairly new. The wooden panels were white-wash painted; there were dark green shutters on either side of each window, a large porch with a wrap around porch and a large apple tree out front. Across from the house was a large barn. The entire property was every farmer's dream.
Jane and Maura followed Frost up the front steps and through the front screen door.
"Honey, I'm back!" Frost called out. He shrugged off his coat and hung it on the rack near the door.
"Okay, good! Breakfast is nearly done!" They heard a female voice respond from further in the house. Jane looked around and instantly felt the warmth of the inviting home. The style was rustic, with wooden floors and the smell of bacon wafted through the air. It reminded her of a simpler time in her life when she had a family and an actual home to run to.
"You can hang your jacket here, Jane. If you want," he offered.
"I'd like to keep it on for now."
Frost gave a nod before stepping further into the house. "Can you come here a sec, Anna?!" He called to his wife.
"I'm kind of busy! Why don't you come to me?!"
Frost turned back to the two women and gave a small shrug. "This way," he said to them as he gestured with a nod of his head. Maura willingly fell in step behind Frost, while Jane followed at the rear, still apprehensive about this decision. They stepped around a corner and were soon inside a quaint kitchen. A woman with a small frame, wearing a house dress and an apron around her waist was just finishing off some scrambled eggs on the stove.
"Anna? We have guests."
The smaller woman whirled around and her eyes widened. "Oh! Oh, I'm sorry." She shut off the stove and turned to the three of them. She was slightly taken aback by the sight of the two women. She was a beautiful young woman that held the same youthful spirit in her eyes as her husband. Her dark skin was a tad lighter than Frost's and her long hair was pinned back with one strand hanging down to the side.
As she stepped closer, Jane noticed Anna's eyes were looking them over, as though there was a hint of recognition but it was soon replaced with a friendly grin.
"Hello, I'm Anna," she said, offering her hand to Maura.
The blonde took it with a smile. "Hello, I'm Maura."
"Maura… that's a pretty name," Anna smiled.
"Thank you. And this is Jane my… she's my…"
"Friend," the brunette finished, stepping forward. She shook Anna's hand with a small smile.
Anna smiled back. "Nice to meet you. I'm sorry the place is not cleaned up. I had no idea my husband was going to spring guests on me like this." She then looked to her husband for further explanation.
Barry cleared his throat. "They were lost and are low on gas. I ran into them when I was in a portion of the woods near the outskirts of the property. I offered them to join us for breakfast and clean up some before I helped them on their way. That's okay, right?"
Anna softly smiled at her husband's kind heart. "That sounds fine. The more the merrier, right?"
Both Jane and Maura smiled politely. "Yes," the blonde spoke in agreement.
"Well, let me get you both a plate," Anna said before turning to a cabinet. In that moment, Jane took the opportunity to give Maura a 'you almost busted us look.' The blonde shrugged sheepishly.
"You're lucky you ran into my husband out there of all people. He's known to be very generous," Anna said.
Frost grinned and shrugged slightly.
"We appreciate the help very much," Maura replied.
"You both can sit here at the table," Frost gestured to the two empty chairs.
Jane and Maura glanced at each other before taking a seat. Anna soon presented them with a full plate of grits, bacon, and eggs. After a swift thank you, both women dug in. It had been over 48 hours since they had a decent meal. Chips and ho hos were no longer cutting it.
"Wow. You two are eating as though you haven't had food for days," Anna commented with a small smirk.
Both of them sheepishly looked up from their food and began to slow down their pace. "Um… sorry," Jane mumbled with a mouthful. "This is just really good."
"Thank you," Anna replied, placing a plate of food in front of her husband.
"So, where are you guys from?" Frost asked.
"America," Maura simply answered.
Frost's expression was blank at first but soon spread into a twinkling smile as he let out a hardy chuckle. "That's funny. No, I meant where in America?"
Maura looked at Jane with a somewhat troubled expression and the brunette knew she had to lie for both of them. For some reason the blonde seemed uncomfortable. "We're both from Boston."
"Really?"
"Yes," Jane nodded. "We uh, actually went to high school together."
Maura looked up with an expression of surprise, catching the amusement in Jane's dark eyes.
"Wow. And you've been friends ever since then?" Anna asked, taking her seat.
"Oh, yes. Maura's my best friend. We do everything together; including taking this overseas trip to France. It was Maura's idea, but as you can see it did not exactly turnout the way we planned."
Maura stared at Jane as the lies flowed from her mouth like a flawless soliloquy. The more she listened to the brunette's words, the more in her heart she wished it were true.
"Our European adventure turned out to be a nightmare," Jane continued with a smile. "I got us stuck in the middle of nowhere by taking a wrong turn. I didn't want to risk running out of gas in the darkness, so we had to camp out in our car."
"Oh, I'm sorry. That's rough," Anna commented.
"It wasn't so bad," Jane shrugged. She glanced at Maura for a reaction. The blonde was staring at her but was obviously thinking off into space. "Right, Maur?" Jane urged, trying to shake Maura out of her daze. "We adjusted."
Maura shook her head and was even more rattled by the nickname Jane just threw at her. "Uh, right."
Jane frowned slightly, wondering what was going on in the other woman's mind. She had clearly been distracted by something.
"I'm not a camper myself," Anna went on. "But Barry loves it."
Jane looked at the younger man and he nodded his head in confirmation. "My father took me up to the mountains every summer."
"That's cool," Jane nodded. She took a sip of her orange juice.
"So what do you two do for a living?" Anna asked.
Jane glanced at the blonde, but she still seemed hesitant to answer. "I'm a cop with Boston P.D."
"Wow."
"No shit?" Barry replied. "That explains the gun," he muttered.
Anna's eyebrows shot up. "Excuse me? Did you just say gun?"
Maura averted her eyes and Jane sheepishly scratched the back of her neck.
Frost internally cringed. "It's nothing, hun. Just a little misunderstanding when Jane and I crossed paths. She didn't know who I was and was only trying to protect herself and Maura. Everything is cool now though." Anna was about to say more but Frost cut her off. "Maura, how about you? What's your job?" He quickly asked.
"I… I'm a doctor."
"Really? Anna is a nurse."
This perked Maura's interest and she looked at Anna expectantly.
Anna shrugged and gave a modest smile. "I was a nurse… back in Chicago. Every once and a while I volunteer at some of the local doctor's offices here."
"That's very commendable," Maura commented.
"Thank you. What is your practice?"
"I'm a trauma surgeon."
"A surgeon?" Frost asked in astonishment.
"Yeah," Jane cut in. "Maura is one of the best surgeon's in Boston. She even has the awards to prove it."
"That's wonderful," Anna smiled. "You must work long hours though."
Maura dabbed the corner of her mouth with a napkin. "It can be long, but I love the work and being able to help heal people."
"I feel the same way," Anna genuinely smiled.
They finished their meal with continued small talk until Maura politely asked where they could clean up. They all stood from the table and Barry began to clear the table.
"Just follow me ladies," Anna said as she began to walk out of the kitchen.
Maura was right behind her but stopped when she noticed Jane was not behind following. "Jane?"
"I'll be right there. I just need a word with Frost."
Anna looked at her husband and then to Jane. "Okay. Well, when you come up it's the second door on the right."
"Second door on the right. Gotcha," Jane smiled.
Maura gave Jane a curious look before turning and following Anna out of the room.
"What's up?" Frost asked once they were alone.
"So, I know you said your wife could redress my arm…"
"Yeah, for sure."
"I'd rather Maura did it. No offense to your wife or anything…"
"Oh, sure no prob. If that makes you feel more comfortable. I'll get you the bandages." Frost turned and reached into the cabinet above the coffee maker. He pulled out a red metal box with a small handle and turned to the brunette. "Anna's first-aid kit; this should have everything you need."
"Thanks," Jane said, taking the kit. She was halfway out the room but stopped and turned back towards the kitchen. "Um… look, I'm sorry about pulling a gun on you out there."
"Hey, no harm, no foul," Frost softly smiled. "You didn't shoot me so we're on good terms."
Jane smirked. "Good," she nodded before heading out of the kitchen. She soon found the staircase and headed up. The sound of murmured voices led her straight to the room she was told to go and she found Anna and Maura chatting together.
Maura spotted the brunette first. "Oh, Jane," she came over and to the brunette. "Anna was just telling me she could spare us a change of clothes."
"Oh, great," Jane replied with a nod.
Anna frowned when she saw what Jane was holding. "Oh, I wasn't aware that one of you was injured. Is there anything I can do to help?"
Jane shook her head. "No, it's okay. Maura can help me. It's just for a nasty scratch I got on my shoulder yesterday. Frost said it was alright that we use your kit."
"Of course, feel free. I'll go get those clothes. Be right back," Anna said, before leaving the room.
The brunette looked around the guest bedroom. There was a dresser with an attached mirror, a full-sized bed, wooden floors, and an attached full bathroom. The room was very inviting just as the rest of the house was.
"What do you think, Jane?" Maura asked in a whisper. "We're safe here, right?"
"For now," the brunette replied, before walking over to the bed and placing the first aid kit on the bed. "We seem to be off the grid, but I'm keeping my eyes open." She then walked over to window and pushed aside the curtain. From her point of view she could see the barn and a large expansion of land behind it.
"Do you think Hoyt's men could find us here?"
Jane turned back to Maura and ran a hand through her tousled hair. "I wouldn't rule it out. We're okay now, but don't get comfortable. We can't stay here long."
"I know," Maura replied, momentarily dropping her eyes. "But I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. We have shelter, food, a shower..." Jane lightly bit the inside of her lip, thinking. "What?" Maura asked.
"I need to figure out a way to get us out of the country undetected."
"And go where?"
"Back to the states. I need to take out this fucker, Maura… before he can do it to us." She stepped closer to the blonde, speaking quietly. "I know he hides out while his assassins do his dirty work. The problem is he could be in one out of a million places. The guy is like a ghost but I need to find him."
Maura stared at the brunette and saw the seriousness in her eyes. That's when it all clicked in the blonde's head. Jane had a new mission… to kill Hoyt.
"Here you go," Anna said as she reentered the room.
Jane and Maura sheepishly looked away from each other and stepped back.
"Maura, I brought you a couple dresses to choose from and Jane, I figured you weren't the dress wearing type, so I have some of Barry's button downs and a pair of jeans that my sister left two summers ago. She's about your size so I think they should fit." Anna placed the clothes on the bed.
"Thanks," Jane said.
"Yes, thank you so much for your kindness, Anna," Maura genuinely said.
Anna gave them a gentle smile. "Okay, well I'll leave you to it. Barry and I will be right downstairs if you need anything."
When they were left alone, Maura walked over to the bed and opened the first aid box.
"Frost said that should have everything we need," Jane said.
"It does indeed and more," Maura said, looking over the items in the box. "I didn't have any more gauze of my own to rewrap your arm. There's plenty in here."
"Okay, good."
"How about you take your shower first and then I'll redress your arm?"
"Sounds like a plan," Jane said as she shrugged off her leather coat. She then grabbed the clothes supplied for her and headed to the connecting bathroom. Maura watched as the other woman walked away and noticed the handgun bulging from the back of Jane's waistband. The sight made reality come crashing down even harder. She was not on a nice vacation with her best friend in France. She was a woman on the run with a killer and the two of them were being hunted down like animals. The view of the weapon was obstructed when the brunette turned and stepped into the bathroom. Maura raised her gaze and their eyes locked.
"You good?" Jane asked.
"As good as I can be," Maura replied with a faint smile.
Jane caught the hint of sadness in the blonde's tone but was not sure what to say in return. She looked at the blonde for a moment longer before closing the door.
Maura was sorting through the kit when there was a knock on the bedroom door a few moments later. Maura answered and saw Frost standing there. "Barold."
"Hey, Maura. I figured you may need this." He held up the blonde's black duffel bag. It was the only item they had hauled with them from the station wagon.
"Oh, yes. Thank you," she said, taking the bag.
"Um, I know it really isn't my place to pry… but I just want you and Jane to know that if you're in some kind of trouble…" Maura temporarily lowered her eyes and then met Frost's gaze once more. "…I'm here to help. No matter what it may be."
Maura almost wanted to tell him everything. That yes, they needed help and a man had his trained killers hunting them and would not stop until they were both dead... that she was scared. His expression was so earnest and kind she wanted nothing more than to share the truth, but she knew she couldn't. "You are helping," she finally said. "You and Anna. There is nothing more you can do for us, really." That was the truth.
"Okay. I just wanted to make sure."
"Thank you, Barold."
He nodded and stepped away from the door. Maura closed the door and released a heavy sigh before walking back over to the first aid kit.
Minutes later, the bathroom door opened. Maura looked up and nearly swooned at the sight of the brunette. Jane wore a short-sleeved flannel button down with a red and black pattern and denim jeans. The flannel was open revealing a black tank top.
Maura arched an eyebrow at her.
"What?" Jane asked.
"Nothing. You just look very… rodeo."
"Shut up. This is better than nothing," Jane mumbled, shuffling further into the room.
Maura smirked. Truthfully, she found Jane very attractive in the clothes. Jane's masculine nature was appealing enough but this gave it an extra hint of sexy. "Come sit here."
Jane walked towards the bed and noticed Maura had all the necessary supplies ready to re-wrap her arm laid out on the comforter. Once Jane was seated, Maura rolled up the brunette's sleeve, leaving the bullet hole visible.
Maura examined her arm closely. "There's no infection. That's good." She began to clean the wound.
There was a silence for a few moments until Jane spoke. "Hey, were you okay with the things I told Frost and Anna? When we were downstairs it looked like you spaced out for a second there."
"Yes, I'm just… I'm uncomfortable with lying. I break out in hives actually."
"Seriously?" Jane chuckled.
"Unfortunately, yes. So I chose to speak as little as possible. I didn't want to smash our cover."
"Break our cover."
"You know what I meant… and I guess I was taken by surprise by how you can tell a lie so easily."
"It comes with the territory when you're an assassin. I've had to portray different people with different backgrounds, aliases… it kind of comes naturally to me now."
"Well, you're good at it. You even gave us a history... saying we were being best friends…"
"I know, sorry about that. I had to sell the story. That was the first thing that came to mind."
Maura shook her head. "You don't have to be sorry." The blonde finished cleaning the and reached for the gauze. "I… it actually felt nice to believe I had a best friend and we grew up together. I've never had a best friend."
Jane looked up at the blonde with an incredulous look. "Never?"
Maura silently shook her head but did not make eye contact. "I was always seen as strange. None of the other children wanted to be near me. They said I was too smart and made them uncomfortable." Maura gave a nonchalant shrug. "Others teased me by calling me Maura the Bora. I didn't have friends."
Jane's heart constricted a bit after hearing about Maura's childhood. "Kids suck."
Maura let out a soft chuckle making Jane smile. "What? It's true. They used to call me roly poly Rizzoli."
"Oh… I had no idea you were overweight."
"I wasn't… I was… athletic and... anyway… If we did grow up together, I would have been your friend."
Maura lightly smiled. "You don't know that."
"Yeah, I do. I always made friends with the pretty girls." A small blush formed on Maura's cheeks and Jane lightly smiled at her. "I like that."
Maura raised her eyes. "What?"
"Making you blush."
Maura shook her head, trying to hide her smile. "Though most of your words to Frost and Anna were of the manipulative nature, I did not mind when you abbreviated my name."
Jane tilted her head slightly and studied the blonde's face. "You mean when I called you Maur?"
"Yes."
Jane only smirked in return. "I'll keep that in mind."
They were both silent as Maura finished up her arm. "There. All done," the blonde said before she began to pack away the first aid kit.
Jane rolled down her sleeve and looked at the blonde. "Hey, um…" She slowly stood from the bed and scratched the back of her neck. "When I was in the shower I was thinking about last night."
"Okay."
"A lot of it is a little fuzzy, but… did you um… did we… kiss last night or was I hallucinating?"
Maura stopped what she was doing and looked into Jane's eyes. "You weren't hallucinating," she bluntly replied.
Jane frowned slightly. "Oookay... and was there a reason for the kiss?"
"I was only trying to comfort you. You were having one of your nightmares so I was trying to bring you back. To snap you out of it so to speak. So, I kissed you…" Maura looked down, busying herself with the first aid items. "... and you kissed me back."
"Oh…" the brunette replied, feeling a blush of her own form.
"Then I had you lay in the car with me. You were okay after that."
Jane lowered her eyes, trying to think of the events from last night. She remembered some of it but not very much. One thing she was sure of was that Maura made her feel safe. The blonde finished packing up the kit.
"I'm going to take my shower now," she said, stepping past the brunette. She was over the threshold of the doorway when she heard Jane speak.
"Hey, Maur?"
Her heart skipped a beat at the new nickname. With her hand on the doorway, she paused and turned to look at the brunette. They looked at each other for a silent moment.
"Thank you," Jane softly said.
The blonde shook her head. "It was no trouble."
"No," Jane stepped closer and placed a gentle grasp on Maura's forearm. Maura looked up as was met by sincere brown eyes. "I really mean it. Thank you, Maura."
The blonde felt a shiver run through her body at Jane's soft touch. She liked seeing this side of the brunette. She was vulnerable, real, and there was no hidden agenda or darkness lingering under the surface. Jane was just Jane. "You're welcome," she finally got out.
Their eyes danced slightly as they stared into each other's eyes. The draw was there again. "Uh… I'm going to head downstairs," Jane said, pointing over her shoulder.
Maura seemed to break out of her staring trance and gave a small smile. "Yea, okay. I'll meet you down there."
"Okay."
"Okay." The blonde then closed the door.
Jane let out a heavy breath. How was it that Maura always had a way of causing her breath to hitch and her heart beat faster?
Jane reached the bottom of the stairs and heard a hushed voice coming from the kitchen. She recognized it as Anna's and soon realized the woman was on the phone. As she drew closer, she heard the other woman's words more clearly.
"Y… yes. I understand."
Pause.
"Not a problem. Goodbye." Anna hung up the phone and let out a heavy breath.
The brunette stood a few feet behind her, with her hands in her pockets. "Is everything okay?" She asked.
Anna practically jumped out of her skin and whirled around with a surprised expression on her face. "Oh, Jane," she said, placing a hand against her chest. "I didn't know you were there."
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. You seemed a little troubled after that phone conversation."
"I… it was nothing," she hurriedly replied. "Just some personal matters." She stepped away from the phone. "Is there something I can help you with?"
"I was… just looking for Frost," she drawled out, looking at Anna with concern. The woman seemed a little off.
"Oh, he's out back chopping wood for the fireplace tonight." She pointed to the backdoor that was connected to the kitchen.
She spotted Frost about 50 yards out from the house. He was currently swinging his axe through a block of wood. It split perfectly in half with a satisfying crack. She made her way over to the younger man and he smiled when he finally noticed her.
"Hey," he said as she stood across from him.
"Hey."
"Nice threads."
"Yeah," Jane muttered, tugging at the bottom of the button down flannel. She noticed the large stack of wood piled next to Frost's feet. "You gathered all this wood yourself?"
"Yep. That's actually what I was in the middle of doing when I ran into you and Maura in the woods."
"Right," Jane nodded.
Frost only smiled and set up his next piece of wood on the stump. "Do you want to give this a try?"
Jane shrugged. "I've never done it before."
"It's easy," he said, removing his gloves. "Put these on."
"Really?"
"Yes, c'mon. I saw those guns you have as arms. Give it a shot."
The brunette couldn't help but smile. "Okay."
Jane soon had Frost's gloves on and a heavy axe in her hands. Frost moved the wood so she could do a few practice swings on the stump. When he felt she had the technique, he placed the wood back on the stump. "Alright, go for it."
The brunette zeroed in her focus on a single spot on the wood. With sharp concentration she swung the axe over her shoulder and brought it down with unbelievable force. CRACK. The block of wood split perfectly.
"Hey, now!" He shouted with enthusiasm, clapping his hands. "Not bad for a first timer. You split the wood right down the middle. You have good aim."
Jane gave a small nod and smiled. "I've been told that before." Movement in the distance caught her eye and she looked towards the house. Maura was stepping out of the backdoor and onto the porch with Anna. Jane nearly dropped the axe in her hand at the sight of the blonde. She was wearing a light blue sundress with sunflower pattern on it. The wind blew her blonde locks from her face and Jane thought she looked gorgeous. She watched Maura speak briefly to Anna and they both smiled. Maura then looked out towards Jane and lifted her hand in a shy wave to the brunette. Without thinking, Jane waved back and felt almost giddy at the smile she got in return from the blonde.
"So, uh… are you two together?"
Jane frowned and whipped her head towards Frost. "Me and Maura?"
Frost nodded.
"No," Jane shook her head. "Why would you think that?"
"Because I don't smile and wave to my friends the way you two just did."
Jane scoffed. "Right… no, we're just uh… just friends," she finished with little enthusiasm.
Frost smiled and Jane immediately liked the child like appeal and charm shining through. "It sounds like you aren't happy with that."
"It's complicated," the brunette shrugged.
"Isn't it always?" He looked at his wife and Maura and then back at Jane. "Do you like her? As in… like her like her?"
Jane rolled her eyes. "Why do I feel like I'm back in high school talking to you?"
"Hey, I'm just curious," he held up his hands with an amused smirk on his lips. "It's none of my business anyway." He held out his hand for the axe and Jane silently handed it over. She watched as he bent down for another piece of wood.
She knew it was all or nothing now. The last thing Jane wanted to do was involve someone else in this mess, but she needed help. She had to come clean. "Frost, I'm gonna level with you."
The man set aside the axe and followed his arms, looking at Jane expectantly. "Okay."
Jane ran a hand through her hair and sighed. "All that stuff I told you… about Maura and I being lost, it's not exactly true. I mean, we don't know where the hell we are yes, but we're not here on vacation."
"I figured that. Are you in some kind of trouble?"
"... Yes, big trouble. But we're not fugitives, running from the law and shit. Nothing like that… we're just running."
Frost frowned. "Running from who?"
"This man… I did something that really pissed him off and now he's after Maura and I... to kill us."
Frost's eyes widened. "What?"
Jane ran a hand through her hair and shook her head. "Look, Maura and I will get out of your hair right away. We'll just leave. I don't want to get you and your wife wrapped up in our bullshit."
"What can I do to help?" Frost calmed asked.
"Really? You're not freaked out?"
"Freaked out? Hell, yes. But you've got a good heart, Jane. I can see that. Whatever or whoever you're running from, I know you've got good reason."
Jane gave a tight smile. "I need help to get Maura and I out of the country, but it has to be down under the radar. No cops, no airports. We would for sure be spotted then."
Frost was contemplating this, then an idea came to him. "There is a guy that lives in the next town. He flies in and out of the country almost every other week in his charter plane. They call him old man Korsak."
"And he would fly us anywhere?"
"For a price and he only takes cash."
"I can do that."
"Jane!"
The brunette looked up and saw Maura frantically waving at her. Both Jane and Frost took off running full speed toward the house. When they reached the porch Anna was nowhere in sight, but Maura stood there with a troubled expression.
"What? What's wrong?" Jane asked.
"Jane, we're not safe here," Maura said, panic in her eyes. "We have to leave."
"What? What are you talking about?"
"Anna. She told Hoyt's men where we are. She just told me."
"What?! How?"
Frost's expression was one of rage and he went charging into the house. Jane and Maura were right behind him and they found Anna sitting at the kitchen table, crying. Her head was down and face buried in her arms.
Frost knelt beside his wife and placed a hand on her back. "Anna, what have you done?"
Anna raised her head. Tears were streaming down her face. "I'm sorry. I thought I was doing the right thing," her voice strangled as she shook her head. "Yesterday, there was a man in the market," she sniffled. "He claimed to be F.B.I. and was looking for Jane and Maura. He had their picture and told me to call if I ever saw them. Said there would be an award and you know we need the money."
Frost lowered his eyes and shook his head.
"But then we got to know them better," Anna continued, looking at Jane and Maura. "And I see now that they were nice people, but now it's too late. But I had to tell Maura what I had done... I had to."
Jane and Maura exchanged worried glances.
Frost caressed his wife's head. "It's okay, baby. You were right. Jane and Maura are good people and I'm glad you said something. But now we have to get them out of here. That man you spoke to was not F.B.I."
"He wasn't?"
"No," Jane spoke up. "He was a hitman."
"Oh, my God. Jane, Maura I am so sorry," Anna cried, standing from the table.
As soon as Anna stood before them a red dot appeared on Anna's chest. Jane immediately recognized it as a laser from a sniper rifle. "Oh, fuck." Her eyes widened in alarm. "Everybody down!" Jane shouted. She sprung forward, tackling Anna to the ground. The intended bullet for the young woman struck the coffee pot, shattering the glass to pieces.
A/N: Yeah... here we go. Hope you guys are still with me after the long wait! Comments please.
