So, I need help with something. Before I ask, I just want to say that either way, this will be the last chapter for a little bit. Not too long though. It depends. Here it goes. I don't have any more chapters written currently for this story. I haven't watched/read Ghost Hunt for a while, so I probably won't be quite as good at keeping the characters in character. (I hope I'm explaining well enough xD) So, I was wondering, do you guys think I should wait for a bit so that I can re-watch and reread Ghost Hunt before writing more, or if I should try writing more now and seeing how it works out. I need as much feedback as possible on this, because I can't decide by myself. I hope I explained everything clearly enough to understand haha. Just Pleeeeaase help me out with this!

The next morning, Mai woke up to her phone ringing. She looked at her caller ID, and saw that it was her boss from the coffee shop.

'Oh my gosh! I was so happy to be back at SPR that I forgot about my other job!' Mai reluctantly opened her phone and held it to her ear.

"Yes?" Mai asked.

"Yes? Yes! You've been missing from work twice now and all you can say is yes?" her boss screamed at her through the phone. Mai had had enough of her attitude. She had dealt with this for the past year and a half, and she was done.

"I'll have you know, I was working at a place I like much better than that damned coffee shop! And plus, my boss doesn't treat me like I'm gum stuck to the bottom of his shoe!" The last part wasn't a complete lie, it was different with Naru. She didn't know why she didn't mind Naru ordering her around and picking on her. She just didn't.

"I quit!" Mai shouted. She hung up and smiled to herself.

'I'm finally rid of that place.' Mai thought to herself. It was then that she looked over at her alarm clock and realized she was already ten minutes late for work. She hurriedly put on a plain white shirt and jeans, brushed her hair and teeth and scurried out the door of her tiny apartment. When she finally arrived at the office, she was twenty minutes late.

"Mai, where were you?" Naru questioned, not an ounce of concern visible on his face.

"Well I woke up to my phone ringing, and when I looked at it it was my old boss calling about my absence, so-" Mai began telling her story only to be cut off by the tea obsessed man who had stopped listening after 'I woke up.'

"Mai, tea." He demanded, before walking back into his office.

'Uhg! That man! He can really got on my nerves sometimes!' Mai complained to herself, 'I mean, he was the one who asked where I was, then acts all annoyed when I tried to explain!' She huffed off to the kitchen and began making the first of many cups of tea she would be making that day.

Mai picked up the boiling tea pot, and because she was so lost in her thoughts, she hit her foot on the side of the counter. This resulted in a doubled over, soaked, burnt Mai, now with a freshly stubbed toe.

"Oww! Owwy owwy owwy!" Mai kept talking to herself as she tried to simultaneously hold her toe and dry herself off. Naru, being the hawk he is, heard her complaining and opened the door, looking over at the small kitchen. He couldn't see her from his office, so he gracefully walked around the wall blocking half of the kitchen from his vision, to see a sopping wet Mai sitting on the floor with a towel wrapped around her shoulders holding her now bleeding toe.

"Wrong day to wear flip-flops." She mumbled to herself as she sat there.

"Mai," Naru said getting her attention, "I expect you to clean this up." He ordered, pointing to the water on the floor and the kettle. Mai jumped up from her sitting position and scowled.

"Can't I at least clean up my toe first? If you didn't notice, it's bleeding pretty badly." She asked with a slight attitude. Her annoyed face became confused with Naru's next action. He quickly spun around.

"Mai, you need to go home and change." Naru said, a slight amount of embarrassment lacing his words.

"Why? Its only water, it will dry." Mai questioned, still confused.

"Do you realize you are wearing a white shirt Mai?" Naru said coolly. Mai looked down and saw her shirt had become see through, exposing her green bra.

"EEK!" Mai shrieked.

"Mai, did you bring a jacket with you to work today?" Naru questioned.

"No." Mai answered getting more and more confused by the minute.

"I want you to walk over to the coat rack by the front door, and put on the gray and black coat on the left hook." Naru instructed, still facing the wall.

"But what if Lin sees me?" Mai asked.

"Turn around." Naru replied as if it was the simplest thing ever.

Mai edged over to the coat rack and quickly grabbed the long coat. She put it on, and felt as if she had been swallowed. The sleeves were longer than her arms, and the coat hung down just below her knees.

'I'm wearing Naru's coat,' Mai told herself, awestruck. She couldn't help but touch it and smell it, 'Thank goodness Naru is still turned around.'

"Mai, have you put the coat on?" Naru asked.

"Y-yeah." Mai responded. Naru turned around to see a flushed Mai engulfed in his coat.

'That's almost adorable," Naru thought, 'I said almost, so that's okay. That doesn't mean she is, because I said almost.' Naru convinced himself.

"Well I'm going to walk back to my apartment now, I'll bring your coat right back."Mai was hoping Naru would offer to drive her instead, but she knew by now that Naru the narcissist wouldn't do something so generous. She set off out the door in Naru's big coat.

As she walked the few blocks to her apartment, she scolded herself for being such and idiot.

'Why did I have to wear a white shirt when I know I spill tea all the time!' She continued reprimanding herself until she remembered what she had bought that made her excited. By now she was walking up to her door.

'Wait a minute! That new outfit I bought with my first paycheck should be out of the dryer by now!'

Once she had gotten into her apartment she ran over to her rickety old dryer and peeked inside. She picked up her brand new shirt and smelled it. 'Mmm.. Lemons' She grabbed her outfit and scurried into her bedroom. Once she had the outfit on, she took a moment to admire herself. She had bought a nice frilly, lacy, white skirt and a baby blue shirt with a white lace collar.

"My first nice outfit in two whole years!" She was amazed at how beautiful she looked. It was all ruined though when she put Naru's coat on again. It was as though a sweet, innocent child had been hugged by a big, black grizzly bear. She headed off towards the office.

When she finally arrived back at the office, she opened the door and shouted, "Naru, I'm back! I brought your coat!" Then she saw that everyone was there. And by everyone, I mean everyone. Even Yasuhara, who was currently staring at her with a smirk on his face.

"Where were you, and why are you wearing Naru's coat?" Monk demanded.

"Did he leave it at your house?" Yasu said as he winked with a huge grin on his face. Monk, Mai and all the others returned his comment with a glare. It was then that Naru decide to come out of his office to scold the others. He first addressed Yasuhara.

"No Yasuhara, I did not leave it at her house, as I have never been to her house," He then turned to look at Monk, "And as for you Monk, she spilled tea and it soaked through her clothes. I let her borrow my coat to go to her apartment without catching a cold. I hope that answered your questions."

'That's not why he let me borrow his coat. I wonder why he said that? Well I guess it's easier than explaining that my shirt became see through... Monk would probably be furious then." Mai thought to herself.

Naru then turned to Mai. He looked at her, about to ask if what he said was the truth. Monk wouldn't believe him otherwise. But then he noticed what she was wearing. After not seeing her in girly clothes for so long, it came as quite a shock to see her in a frilly white skirt. He only let his shock show on his face for a moment though. He decided against asking her to back up his mostly truthful, but slightly tweaked story. Instead he just said, "Mai, tea." Then exited into his office.

Mai, after being around him for all those months, was able to catch his momentary displays of affection. She wasn't as good as she used to be, but she was getting there. She was surprised when she saw what she thought was shock when he looked at her. She just shrugged it off though. He confused her most of the time anyways.

She then realized that Monk and Ayako were looking at her expectantly, while Masako glared and Yasu and Madoka sat snickering and whispering behind their hands.

"It's true!" Mai said, answering their looks. Then she walked into the kitchen and prepared Naru's tea.

She walked over to his door, pausing for a moment to get the tea situated in one hand, and knocked.

"Come." She heard him call, and she walked in. Naru couldn't help but look at her for a moment she looked so innocent and feminine. That was only a few seconds though. He then continued to type on his computer. Mai caught his look though.

'He never looks at me when I bring his tea! What's next, a thank you?' Mai was surprised by the small amount of eye contact from her boss, who was normally so engrossed that he barely even acknowledged her presence. But again, she shrugged it off.

"Here's your tea Naru!" Mai said, hoping to get his attention. She should have known better though. All she got was a motion to put it on his desk. She set it down and waited paitently, as usual, for a thank you.

"Mai, you can leave now." he told her.

"You know, a thank you wouldn't hurt every once and a while." She scolded.

"If I am correct, I believe you have files to sort." Naru shot back. She huffed and left his office, slamming the door for god measure. Monk looked at her and said, "What ever happened to being nice to him?"

Um, I just decided to listen to Madoka. She's known him the longest." Mai lied, but she knew that Naru wouldn't want them knowing about his little break of character. Madoka took this opportunity to chime in.

"Madoka is always right Honey!" She gave a big thumbs up.

"Haha... Yep!" Mai had an awkward smile on her face.

For the rest of the work day they sat and talked. Naru was of course listening to their conversations while Masako blabbered away about her weekend and how much better it would have been if he were with her. Just another day at SPR.

That night

'Now's the time!' Mai thought as she put on her black pants, 'I'm going to sneak into the office and look at Naru's office footage!' She silently squealed.

'I could really use Naru's long black coat right now.' She laughed and looked at her all black ensemble. It wasn't necessary, she just did it for the mood. She then headed out the door, and off to the office.

As she was heading to the office, she couldn't help but get really excited. She hadn't done anything exciting since the cases of SPR's old days. But the cases were of course much more exciting than this.

She had finally arrived at the office. She lightly pushed the key into the lock and tiptoed in.

She had to stop and remind herself where she could find the footage. She remembered two days ago when Naru asked Lin to look at the footage of his office while he was gone. Instead of going into Naru's office or to the regular monitors, he walked into his own office. 'It must be there.'

When she had gotten to the front of Lin's office, she realized that she had never gone into it before. She got really excited and swung the door open. She was amazed by how messy it was. There were balled up pieces of paper on the floor, old tea bags and cups on his desk, and his paper work was a wreck.

'You know... While I'm here, I could clean it up. It'll really freak him out!' Mai giggled to herself, 'But Naru's office comes first.' She stepped over all of his trash and sat down in his big black computer chair and turned on the computer. She clicked on the shortcut labeled Naru, which she assumed was his office footage. But instead of office footage, she got a list of emails sent to and from Naru. She told herself not to look, but she couldn't help it. She looked at all the subjects, hoping to see something worth reading. Her eyes locked on an email Naru sent to Lin labeled 'Mai's Behavior.' She clicked on the file and read.

Mai's Behavior

Lin,

Mai has been acting odd lately. She has been calling me sir, bowing, and she hasn't contradicted anything I've said lately. Even when I can see in her face she is upset. To put it simply, I am worried. What should I do?

-Naru

Mai's eyes nearly popped out of her head.

'He was actually worried about me?' She felt like crying. Before this email, she had reason to believe he couldn't care less about her. She wanted to read Lin's reply, but she was running out of time to both look at the video and clean Lin's office. She closed out of their emails and clicked on the shortcut she hadn't seen before labeled Naru's Office. She watched the footage, and sighed a sigh of relief. It was just Masako talking to him while he worked on his computer. She leaned back and looked around Lin's office. 'Well I guess I should get started. I can't wait to see his face!'

Here's the last chapter for a bit! I already know that the next chapter will be the beginning of the case, but again, I need help deciding what to do. I need as many reviews as possible please! I might try to do a few one shots here and there while I get the whole thing situated, but I'm right in the middle of end of the year testing, so I've got a lot of studying and things to do as well. I'll figure it out though, I promise!
