Ezio sighed for had to be the hundredth time in the past hour. Altair had disappeared into the crowds and had left him there with no instructions or a time when he was expected back. The young Assassin would worry for his mentor if he didn't feel as through Altair was playing some cruel joke on him. He pulled forward his hood, trying to block out the harsh sun and crossed his arms.

He wasn't pouting, he convinced himself. He was just tired of waiting.

God, it seemed decided it was time to stop waiting as well when Ezio felt his coin purse being cut and snatched. He turned and caught sight of the young man who had stolen his money.

His wide blue eyes locked with Ezio's brown ones. There was a moment of tense silence between before the thief turned on his heel and dashed into the opposite direction.

"Cazzo!" He growled and bolted after the man.

Following the man down the many alleyways of the city. He was glad Altair was not there to see him, for now he was just barely keeping up with the thief. At the reminder that his mentor might possibly be watching, Ezio pushed his feet harder in a final burst of speed and tackled the man to the ground. Ezio heaved him up and slammed the teen against the wall.

"Give me my money." He said in a low threatening voice.

"Now, now. Let's not go wild here."

Ezio turned his attention to the elder man that had managed to come up behind him. He had cape on with the hood covering his face. Ezio was reminded of the Assassin's uniform. "Here" The man tossed a bag and Ezio let go the thief in favor of catching his money. The teen boy raced off, Ezio and the man watched him go before the Auditore turned his eyes back to the man.

"Who are you?" He asked and took a wary step back.

"They call me many things: Murder. Tagliagole. Thief. But you may call me La Volpe." Ezio's eyes widen.

"You…my mentor is looking for you." La Volpe waved off his words. "Yes, Altair has already caught up with me." The man chuckled.

"Even a Fox can not hide from an Eagle." He smiled sourly and looked over the young man. "He spoke briefly of you but not enough to gain my aid. That man is very secretive when he wants to be." He stepped back and crossed his arms, giving Ezio a challenging smirk.

"Tell you what. I will help you and Altair, if you can keep up with my own freerunning." Ezio pursed his lips, it felt like another test from Altair and it wasn't one he was going to fail.

"Very well." La Volpe nodded.

"Good. Follow me."

He was moving and up the wall in a blink. Ezio stared after him for a stunned moment before he following the fox upwards. Ezio always thought he was good at freerunning but this man was clearly an expert. The way he moved, truly like a fox, weaving around the rooftops like it was flat open field.

He knew the city. When to jump and where to avoid the guards, Ezio was struggling to keep up. But this man was too important to lose just because Ezio was slow. Somehow they both ended in front of the Santa Maria Novella at the same time. Ezio panted as the man beside him seemed unaffected.

"That was fast." La Volpe nodded. "Altair is proud, I'm sure." He pointed to the top of the church.

Where a man robed in white stood at the very top point. Looking like a guardian watching over the city. An eagle sat on a perch before him, taking off as Altair moved forward. There was no hesitation as his jumped and fell through the air. Landing silently in a haystack before. Guards passed unknowingly and Altair popped out a second later. They watched and waited together as he ran across and climbed up to meet them.

"Ezio, I see you met La Volpe. I trust you two got along well enough." He said, a small smirk on his scarred lips. Ezio glared at him.

"Oh yes, he is quiet fast. I see you have finishing scoping the place out." Altair nodded.

"Yes." He turned to Ezio and pointed to the church he had just jumped from. "Here is where the Pazzi conspirators are going convene later today. But I can't find a way in. At least not one that would not give us away."

This is when La Volpe grinned widely. "May I offer a suggestion? The underground catacombs, You will be able to get close enough to eavesdrop but remained unseen." Altair though on it and nodded, he placed a friendly hand on the fox's shoulder and smiled.

"Giving away your hiding holes? La Volpe, you think highly of me." He said with laughter in his voice.

"Nonsense, there is no hiding from you, might as well stop trying." La Volpe said, through he remained good-natured. He gave a nod to the both of them before leaving.

They watched him go before Altair spoke.

"You catch the man once on a lucky guess and he remains bitter about it for years." He turned to Ezio. "He is sly like a fox but once you learn his habits, he is easy to catch." Ezio remained silent. "As much as I enjoy your silence I would like to know what I did to you earn such a gift." He joked.

"You left me in the market for hours!" Ezio finally snapped out.

"Ezio, It was hardly two. It took me an hour to find and catch the man. The second hour was convincing him to aid us." The elder man stated calmly. He looked in the direction the man had left.

"Through to be fair, I didn't know he was going to make you run here with him but I am not surprised he did." Ezio may have been pouting because his mentor looked back to him and grinned. He reached up and tapped Ezio on the chin. "Stop pouting. I am sorry I took so long." His pout lasted a whole minute before he finally stopped.

"Alright, I shall forgive you." He said. Altair rolled his eyes.

"To the catacombs then?" Altair nodded and led the way to the where the Templar meeting was to be held. By this time, night was descending. The guards were getting lazy and Altair and Ezio were able to get to the entrance to the catacombs without trouble. Altair opened the door and went inside first. Ezio checked the area first and followed his master into the darkness.
