On the ride to the estate, Bard and Finny asked her several questions, all of which Haven answered honestly. She trusted the Phantomhive family, even the servants.
There was something about the two men before her that made her believe that they were very genuine people, so she didn't hesitate to relieve her fears to them.
She told them of getting lost away from Undertaker, whom she had been staying with because of her missing memory. She told them of running into the man who had been killing all of the women.
When she described the attack, Bard say up straighter in his seat and his jaw went slack in shock.
"Eh- you actually ran into that bloke?!" Bard exclaimed.
"Yes," Haven replied, her gaze self-consciously moving over to the younger looking boy whose face was open and carefree.
"Well, I'm sure that Sebastian can take you wherever you need to go, miss!" Finny added, cheerfully.
"If you both are out shopping, then where is Sebastian?" Haven inquired.
"He's back at the manor with Master Ciel!" Finny replied. "Preparing him for bed, I'd reckon!"
"I hate to show up so late at night..." Haven added, guiltily, realising that the evening had come and gone quickly with the carriage ride.
"I wouldn't worry 'bout that," Bard said, with a wave of his hand. "Once they hear what ya've gone through, they'll have other things to worry 'bout."
Haven settled back down into her silence and they continued on their way to the Phantomhive estate.
...
The carriage rocked past the gate of a very intimidating manor, and suddenly, Haven was being helped out of the vehicle by a pair of rough hands.
Bard allowed her to step down, and the main doors of the estate opened, revealing the silhouette of a very surprised Sebastian.
He approached quickly, dressed in his usual black attire, and gave Haven a small bow.
"Miss Haven, the Undertaker's guest," he greeted politely even though Haven knew he had to be more than a bit bewildered by her sudden presence. "And what gives us the honour of your visit this evening?"
"I..." Suddenly, Haven found herself seeming quite ridiculous in the presence of such a calm and collected man. "I got lost from Undertaker... And the man who's been murdering the women found me and tried to kill me... I was wondering if I could get someone to take me back home. I got lost and no one seemed to know where Undertaker lives..."
Haven trailed off, feeling a bit like a moron as Sebastian started, definitely quite shocked by her words.
"Of course, my Lady," he replied, with a hand to his chest. "I can take you there myself. But I'd like to request that you speak with my Master, as he is currently reviewing the murders that have been happening."
"I understand," Haven said. "I can answer any questions that Earl Phantomhive has for me."
"That would be most helpful, thank you," Sebastian added. "If you would follow me." He turned and started walking toward the entrance of the estate, quickly sending a last glance toward the two servants who had helped Haven thus far. "Finny, Bard, please take those bags to the kitchen. I applaud you for not making any grave mistakes this time."
"Yes, sir!" Finny exclaimed with a salute.
"We're not incompetent, ya know," Bard mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck.
Haven didn't want to leave without properly thanking them, so she quickly turned and gave them both a small smile.
"Thank you both for helping me!" she said.
"Eh, no problem," Bard replied, looking slightly embarrassed.
"Anything for a friend of Master Ciel's!" Finny chirped again.
Haven gave them another smile before quickly following Sebastian into the manor.
The place was quite large- ten times larger and brighter than Undertaker's building was. She almost had to shield her eyes as she entered.
"My master is taking tea in his study before retiring for the night," Sebastian informed her with a slight smile. "I shall take you to see him."
"I'm sorry for showing up so late," Haven said, bowing her head in guilt. She wondered how Ciel Phantomhive would react to her visit. On the occasions that Haven had spoken to him, he hadn't seemed to have liked her very much.
"Of course you shouldn't concern yourself about that, my Lady," Sebastian replied, almost looking startled. "I'm sure it was a miracle you made it away with your life."
Haven swallowed a large lump that had formed in her throat. She wished there was a way she could get in touch with Undertaker and let him know where she was.
She had this horrible feeling that Undertaker would assume that she had run away from him... And she didn't want him believing that at all.
Sebastian led her up the stairs and down the left hall, into the first door to the right.
He knocked quietly before opening the door enough for him to view the room beyond.
"You have a guest, my young Lord," Sebastian said, finally entering the room.
Haven silently followed behind him, nervously.
"Guest?" Ciel's voice echoed to her ears. Haven fully entered the room, and her eyes caught sight of the young Earl Phantomhive as he sat behind a desk, a silver tray holding a steaming cup of tea beside him. "You," Ciel continued, immediately recognising her. "You're the Undertaker's assistant, aren't you? Haven, wasn't it?"
"Yes, Earl Phantomhive," she replied, her voice shaking with nervousness and relief at finally being around someone she knew she was safe with.
"Well, please have a seat, then," Ciel said, his voice softening once he saw her pale face. "There's no need to be so formal. Sebastian, make her a cup of tea. She's shivering and soaking wet."
"Yes, my young Lord," Sebastian replied quietly, his voice sounding slightly amused.
He quickly left the room.
Haven looked back over to Ciel, his only exposed eye a nice blue colour that somehow calmed her nerves a bit.
"Now. Care to explain?" Ciel asked, gesturing to Haven's less than appropriate attire.
Haven told him everything- being separated from Undertaker, how a man had lured her away from witnesses by saying he was going to take her to the doctor, how he'd tried to rape and kill her.
"And..." Haven finished, shakily. "He admitted to me that he's the one who's been killing all the women around London."
Ciel looked completely shocked by this.
Sebastian came back into the room, carrying a cup of tea and a small blanket. He handed Haven the tea, which she took with shaking fingers, and wrapped the blanket around her shoulders.
"Thank you," she whispered.
Sebastian merely nodded and turned back to his master.
"She's been attacked by the murderer you've been searching for, my Lord," Sebastian said. "She's agreed to answer any questions you may have."
"We can't ask her questions now, Sebastian," Ciel said, his voice sharp. He stood up from his seat behind the desk. "She's terrified. Take her back to Undertaker and let her calm down for the night. We can always ask her questions tomorrow."
"It's perfectly fine if you ask me now," Haven insisted. "I don't mind. Please. If it will help another girl... He could be attacking someone else right now, as we speak..."
"I'm sorry," Ciel's young but stern voice replied. "I admire your bravery, but I simply won't allow it tonight. I'd like for you to rest as soon as possible. I know how traumatising certain events can be to the human mind."
His last words sounded a bit forced, as if he'd experienced something in his own past, but if Haven knew what had happened to him, she couldn't remember.
And also... He'd used the word 'human' again, just as Undertaker had. Haven suddenly had the feeling that everyone knew something that she didn't, but she pushed her suspicions aside for the moment.
"Thank you..." she whispered, hanging her head a bit in shame.
"Don't thank me," Ciel added, walking from around his desk and standing beside her as she sat in the chair. He put a gentle hand on her shoulder. "You've got this strength in you," he added. "A fire that reminds me a bit of myself. Don't worry about anything tonight. Sebastian will take you back to Undertaker's building where you'll be safe. We'll come visit tomorrow, and you can tell us everything then. Your suffering won't be in vain. I will find the man who did this to you- who did this to all of those women- and he will be put to justice. That, I can promise you."
Haven only stared up at Ciel Phantomhive in shock, startled by his sudden intense attitude.
She gulped past the lump that had formed in her throat and removed her gaze from his.
"Thank you," she replied. "You're a good man, Earl Phantomhive. I can see why Undertaker respects you so. Thank you so much."
In reality, Ciel Phantomhive couldn't have been more than fifteen years old, but he emanated the presence of a strong-willed man. He made good decisions and was exceptionally loyal, and it was these traits that made Haven respect him as a man over a boy.
Ciel removed his hand from her shoulder, and took a step back.
"Sebastian, take her home," Ciel ordered. "Drop her off right at the door and don't let anyone else speak with her other than Undertaker. Is that understood?"
"Yes, my young Lord," Sebastian replied, ducking in an obedient bow, hand over heart. He then straightened back up and glanced over at Haven.
"Come along, my Lady," Sebastian said, his voice deep and relaxing.
Haven stood and gave a respectful nod to Ciel before following the butler out of the room.
