Sorry Sorry Sorry! I hoped I would get this done by Christmas but Castiel is so bloody hard to write! The next chapter shouldn't be much longer either.
With Castiel:
Castiel walked around the town that hosted the motel they had been staying in. He wondered what he was feeling, it was strange and not something he had ever felt before. When Emerald is around she seems to light up the room, her smile was more beautiful than anything had had seen before. Every time he saw her this feeling would grow and grow, he believed Dean called the physical representation of this a 'boner'?
As Castiel was deep in thought he felt a hand grab his arm roughly and pull him back. He felt the wind whip against him as a lorry shot past its horn blowing and an angry fist shaking out the window as it drove off. Castiel looked to the man who pulled him out of the way a little confused; the man was puffing a little as he bent over with his hands resting on his knees. "That was a close one." The man puffed with a smile. "Yes... Thank you." Castiel said as he looked back at the truck that was just turning off, "I am sorry to trouble you like that" he continued. "It was no trouble just doing my civic duty," The man said as he straightened up, he was a tall older man with long grey hair tied back in a pony tail; he had a sort of western look to him and a slight Texan accent.
"You look distracted son, what seems to be the problem?" The man asked, in truth Castiel did not know what the problem was so he just shook his head "There is no problem." He said, the man laughed and smacked his hand on Castiel's back "Well if that was nothing I'd hate to see what happens when something is the matter!" Castiel stumbled forwards not ready for the pat on the back that the man gave. "Come on Son, looks like you need someone to talk to and I have time to kill." The man wrapped his arm around Castiel's shoulders and steered him to the nearest Diner, "Let's go get a bite to eat." Castiel was going to protest but found it very hard to say no to the stranger.
When they had entered the diner they sat at a table near the back, soon a waitress walked over, "So how can I help you today?" She asked looking from the man to Castiel. "We will have two of the specials and two coffees." The man said, the waitress nodded and headed off. "So young feller what's your name?" the man asked, Castiel sat not knowing what to do, he couldn't give his real name, "I... uh... Dean..." Castiel said quickly. "Well Dean my name is Barry! It's a pleasure to meet you." Barry laughed a little. As they waited for their food Barry asked Castiel what had been on his mind, "Well there is this woman..." Castiel started but was cut off with a load laugh from Barry, "Isn't there always!" he boomed, Castiel smiled slightly not really getting what he meant, "So this woman... is she beautiful?" He asked Castiel, "Yes she is..." Castiel had said it before he even realised, he let out a small smile as he thought about Emerald. "I have only known her about a year but we have been through a lot, I have this feeling when I am around her that I have never felt before and I don't know what it is." Castiel went on. "I know what that is." Barry said smiling at Castiel, Castiel looked at him expectantly, "And you have it bad don't you?" he laughed, "What?" Castiel asked, Barry's smile widened "You're in love." He said quietly. Castiel thought on this for a moment, could he really love Emerald, should he tell her? "Does she know how you feel about her?" Barry asked, Castiel shook his head, "I don't think so, I did not know until now." Castiel said sadly. "You should tell her before it is too late son." Barry said a sad look in his eyes, "I don't think it would matter, she is interested in someone else... I tried to tell her how dangerous he is but she wouldn't listen, I just want to protect her but she is so frustrating." Barry let out a small laugh "They are all like that son." He said a sad smile playing on his lips. "You need to tell her how you feel about her or you will regret it the rest of your life, Trust me I know." Castiel looked at Barry with a confused expression which Barry noticed, he sighed sadly "A long time ago when I was just a young lad there was a woman I knew, we were great friends for years and after a while I began to feel more than just friendship for her. I was scared to tell her how I felt, scared she would reject me and our friendship end because of it so I kept my mouth shut." Barry fell quiet as the waitress came back with the food and drinks, he took a sip of his coffee thanked the waitress who then went on to deal with other customers. "That was the biggest mistake I have ever made, she moved away to study abroad, we still spoke of course we sent letters and she would visit whenever she came back to the states. It was not long before she met someone, some fancy European and they got married, had kids, I have not heard from her in over twenty-five years." Barry explained, he looked down at his plate of food for most of it but when he had finished he looked back to Castiel who did not know what to say, he was never very good at expressing anything.
They did not speak for a while as they ate the food that was in front of them, Castiel was pondering his next move, first he would have to go back and apologise to Emerald before he could do anything else. He knew how stubborn she could be so he would have to be careful he did not say or do anything to upset her further. He did not understand why humans were so hard to understand all the time, the more he thought about it the more confused he became. By the time they had finished the meal Castiel had made up his mind, he was going to tell her how he felt, Castiel did not want to live for eternity regretting that he did not tell the woman he cared for how he felt.
"Well son it has been a pleasure." Barry said as he shook Castiel's hand, "Yes, Thank you for your counsel today you have been of great assistance to me." Castiel replied, "It's no problem son. Now..." Barry paused a moment shaking his finger at Castiel, "No more walking into moving traffic." he laughed and before Castiel could say anything more Barry had turned and headed off into the crowd. A small smile crossed Castiel's face before he turned around himself and headed back to the motel.
When Castiel arrived back at the motel it took him just a moment to remember which room Emerald had been in and headed in that direction. Castiel arrived at the room only to find that it was empty, Emerald and the others had left without him. Looking down at the ground he wondered why they had left without them, he stood in silence for a few moments listening to the voices of nature around him, the rustling of the leaves as a breeze blew gently between them, the rhythmic hum of an engine ticking over and the sweet sounding bird song that filled the air.
"Yeah dude, did you see?" the silence was broken as two teens walked by, "These guys in black vans and suits came and took the guys that were in that room over there." Castiel looked up to where they were pointing; it was room 207 that was Emerald's room. She had been taken? By who? "Yeah dude they had these big guns and looked kind of like government people to me..." That sounded like S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Cas... Cas are you there?" Castiel heard Dean calling on him, "Look Cas... if you can hear me we have been taken by S.H.I.E.L.D. we are okay but we need you here now, Emerald has seen the creature again. Please hurry!" Dean finished. Castiel felt a little guilty at leaving them like he did but he now knew where they were, in a second he was standing in front of the Avengers. Tony's machines were all chiming at the same time, telling Tony his Cameras had found Castiel on the ship. "Well that was helpful..." Tony muttered. Castiel looked over to Emerald; she gave no emotion away as she stepped towards him. She was right in front of him when he punched his shoulder "Don't ever run away like that again!" she yelled and hugged him tightly.
