Unconvinced
He came face to face with him. They were all there. Duncan Matthews, wearing his letter jacket as usual, and the brotherhood, Blob, Quicksilver, Toad, and Avalanche. Their intent was clearly hostile, looking to pick a fight with the local hero.
"Well, look what we have here. You know Wagner, I always thought you looked skimpy when you were normal, but you look downright pathetic now." Duncan said in a voice which the whole cafeteria heard. A few people laughed, but mostly out of fear of Duncan Matthews, and the power of the brotherhood.
"Please, leave me alone, I'm not here to fight anyone." Kurt stated calmly.
"Wow, strong words. How are you going to enforce them? Are you going to damn me to Hell? Isn't that what you demons do?" Duncan asked.
"Hey Matthews! Why don't you…" Scott was about to say in defense of Kurt, but Kurt stepped in.
"Scott, please. I can handle this." Kurt said to calm his friend.
"You can? As I count it's five against one." Duncan told Kurt.
"Ja, it is. Speaking of you guys haven't said much." Kurt referred to the Brotherhood, "Vhat's wrong?"
"Nothing, just trying to see all the different ways we can pound you!" Blob responded.
"Oh, of course. Always the observant one, Blob, enlighten me. How many different vays can you 'pound' me?" Kurt asked.
"Well, we could pin you down, and start hitting you!" Blob stated.
"Alright, but couldn't I just teleport away?" Kurt asked.
"Well, um… yeah, I guess, um, you got any other ideas?" Blob asked his teammates.
"I do, you'll teleport and I'll run to wherever you teleport to, and bring you back." Quicksilver responded.
"Alright, but how do you know where I'll go? I could teleport anywhere within a two mile radius. How would you check that whole area before I teleport again?" Kurt asked, slyly.
The other X-men sat back, watching this exchange take place, while Kurt out maneuvered the Brotherhood's suggestions.
"Should we try to help him?" Kitty asked Scott.
"No, I think Kurt's got this." Scott told her.
"I know, I'll create a vortex, causing you to fly to the top, while Blob throws Toad at you, distracting you, while Avalanche causes an earthquake to incapacitate your friends!" Quicksilver said very quickly.
"Wait, yo, I ain't getting thrown! No way, no how! What if he misses? He isn't the best shot you know." Toad said in reference to Blob.
"Who are you calling a bad shot!?" Blob shouted at Toad.
"No one, just saying that you're not the best shot, that's all." Toad tried to recover.
"Well, I'll show you!" Blob said, getting ready to beat up Toad, when he was interrupted.
"Enough! Both of you! He's playing you!" Duncan informed his teammates.
"Well, yeah, we knew that." Quicksilver stated, trying to save his pride.
"Well, I think it's a lost cause guys." Avalanche finally spoke up, "He clearly is too good for us."
"What are you saying Lance?" Duncan asked, annoyed.
"I'm saying leave the little elf alone! If he wants to walk around the school looking like a demon, that's his choice. Just wait 'till he gets out of this school, into the real world, he'll see how they feel about him." Lance informed his teammates.
Kurt suddenly looked worried.
"Yeah, didn't think that one through did you?" Duncan told Kurt, "Just you wait, all these people, they love you because you're their hero, the outside world, you're still a freak, and freaks only belong in one place. The circus. So get yourself a ticket, we'll see you there."
Kurt stood up, and looked at Duncan.
"Well then, I guess we will." Kurt said, walking to get his books.
Duncan then grabbed onto Kurt's tail, and pulled with all his might. Kurt fell onto the floor, with a load thumb. Everyone around Kurt looked concerned. There were a few chuckles from the cafeteria, but most were silent.
Kurt got up off the floor, and looked at Duncan.
"I didn't think you were that edger to get your hands on some tail. If you like that sort of thing I know a great bar you could try." Kurt said with a slight smile.
The cafeteria broke into laughter. Duncan Matthews had been defeated. He, and the brotherhood, with Blob and Toad chuckling, with Quicksilver trying to hold him his laughter, left the cafeteria.
"Great job, buddy." Scott said to his friend.
"Yeah, you totally humiliated him! That was epic!" Jason said to his friend.
"Ja, I guess they thought it would be easy to intimidate me, but frankly, I found their performance unconvincing." Kurt laughed.
Kurt thought about what Lance had said though. How would the outside world accept him, and how would he react to it. For now though, he still had three classes to get through, and that was enough to think about.
Hey guys! I hoped you liked it. I'm really sorry about leaving you all on a cliffhanger for two long years, those years really catch up on you! Well, I hope the wait was worth it! I'm trying to turn this story towards a more realistic approach. Tell me how you think I did on that front, and also tell me potential long term ideas you would like to see in future chapters! If you like this story, and would like to see more, check out my other stories. I have a great one called 'Hey X-men', it's a Hey Arnold X-men crossover that's been fun to write!
R&R!
