Hello again! I'm back with a new chapter! Hope it'll be worth the wait! It honestly took me a long time to think where I want this story to go, but I think I have it now.
Big thanks to everyone who reviews my stories, and for supporting this endeavor. I think this story has about one or two chapters left, and then I'll end it, because I kind of want to move over into new fanfiction areas, namely Teen Titans.
Also, if ANYONE has the desire to write a spinoff, or sequel to this work, or set it in my universe, just PM me, and I'll probably say yes.
I am so grateful for the attention this story has received, and the rich history the X-men offers.
Now, on with the chapter!
Resistance
"I have a visual of New York City." Scott said from the controls of the Blackbird.
"We can put down in that clearing north of the Hackensack River. Keep her in stealth mode, Scott, we're close to the airport." Logan told Scott.
"Right." Scott confirmed, as he began to change course towards the clearing. Then an alarm started ringing.
"What's that?" Mystique asked.
"I don't know." Scott replied.
Then the Blackbird started to shake violently.
"What's going on?!" Rouge shouted, as she clutched onto her chair.
"Stay calm Rouge, everything will be al…" The Professor was interrupted when the Blackbird started to fall from the sky. There was the sounds of screams, engines cutting out, metal straining. The Blackbird hit the water, and split into two pieces, the front half and the back half.
Upon impact, Scott, Logan, Mystique, Storm, Bobby, Amara, Jean, and the Professor were all forced out of the front of the jet towards the surface, due to the sudden decompression. Rouge and Kitty, who were in the back half of the jet stayed in their seats, trapped by the straps of their safety belts. Rouge removed hers, and headed towards the surface, but turned back to see Kitty sitting perfectly still. Rouge swam back to her, and saw she had sustained a head injury, and was knocked out. Rouge went to undue her safety belt, but it wouldn't go. Rouge tried pulling violently, but the belt wouldn't give way. Rouge saw as less and less bubbles escaped Kitty's mouth. Rouge tried desperately to undue the belt, but the need for oxygen became over whelming. She swam back towards the surface.
Rouge surfaced to see the other X-men on the beach, bruised and cut, but alive. She swam towards them. The water was calm, and flat. Still and cool.
When she reached the beach, Bobby and Scott helped her up. Rouge coughed out some water that had collected in her lungs, and she sat on the beach. Rouge shock, unable to speak.
"Wait, has anyone seen Kitty?" Jean suddenly rang.
"Half pint? Where is she?!" Logan asked.
Rouge looked at Logan with sadness.
"Logan." Logan turned to face Rouge, "She's dead."
Silence. That's all Logan could offer as a reaction, was silence.
Jean began to cry, and Scott comforted her. The Professor sat against a tree staring at the lake. The others began to break down in their own time.
"Nein! Nein! Nein!" Kurt shouted, and was broken out of Jason's trance. Kurt had tears in his eyes, and the fur around them was dark blue.
"Zat vould never happen! Kitty, and ze ozers vill come for me, and you'll be sorry you ever messed vith us!" Kurt said defiantly.
"How do you know it didn't happen Kurt?" Jason smirked, "My powers are not only to show you fantasy, but to show you real life happenings. So, the plane really could've crashed, and your friend really is dead."
"Stop it." Kurt said.
"I can see her now, her cold, lifeless body, sitting in the remains of that jet."
"Stop it." Kurt told him a little louder.
"Oh, here comes some fish. They look hungry."
"Stop it!" Kurt was shouting now.
"One by one the peck a little off of her. Do you see it now."
Kurt saw Kitty sitting in the Blackbird, a school of fish feeding on her body.
"No." Kurt began to break down.
"That's it. Lose yourself in the reality. Your love is gone. Your friends will never find you. All you have is me. There's nothing I can't give you Kurt, there's nothing I'll deny you. If you don't deny me. Accept our love Kurt, lose yourself in me." Jason then hugged Kurt gently.
Kurt could tell this was another hallucination. Jason really wasn't hugging him. He was producing images and sensations in Kurt's mind.
Kurt then had an idea.
"Jason, you're right. I've been selfish. You're right, zey'll never come for me, but you'll alvays be zere. I give myself to you." Kurt then kissed the mental image of Jason. Jason became overwhelmed by the sensation.
"Oh, Kurt…" Jason said in between kisses. "I knew I would find you eventually."
"Ja, I knew too. Now, only one zing left to do."
"What?" Jason asked excitedly.
"Close your eyes."
Jason closed his mental eyes. Jason had now invested his full consciousness on what was going on inside his mind link with Kurt.
"Alright Jason open zem."
Jason opened his eyes, and was greeted by Kurt's tail being forced into his eye socket.
"AH!" Jason screamed in pain.
The mental image was destroyed, but Jason still felt the pain, and was holding his uninjured eye in the real world. With Jason's illusions destroyed, Kurt found he was never tied down to the table, and he made his escape up the stairs.
"Come back here you demonic freak!" Jason called.
Kurt ran out onto a busy street outside a condemned church. A woman walking on the sidewalk with her child screamed and picked up her child and ran away. Kurt ran the opposite direction, away from Jason, towards freedom.
If only I could teleport. The Professor could sense me, vait, if zey are looking for me, zen zey're already in ze city! Profezzor!
The Professor sat in his chair onboard the blackbird. He suddenly winced at the noise of someone shouting his name.
Profezzor Xavier!
Kurt?! Is that you?
Ja. I'm in New York City.
Where?
Corner of East 7th street and 1st ave. Hurry, he's after me!
We're on our way Kurt!
"Scott, change course, to heading one six three zero two. Head along first avenue." The Professor told Scott.
Kitty looked out her window, down towards New York.
"Hang on fuzzy, we'll find you." Suddenly Kitty heard an alarm.
"What was that?" Rouge asked.
"Oops, sorry. I forgot to turn off my reminder for my date with Jubilee." Bobby said, taking out his cell phone.
"Bobby! I swear to God, you scared the…" Rouge began, but was interrupted.
"Approaching East 7th street."
"Set down here, on top of this roof. It looks sturdy enough." The Professor told Scott.
Scott landed the plane on top of the roof, and the rest of the X-men headed out of the plane.
"Let's go get ourselves a blue fuzz ball!" Bobby smiled.
And the search is almost done! Please let me know what you guys thought. If you're at all confused, that fight inside Jason's mind was, just that, in Jason's mind. Review!
