~What in the SHUCK was that?! I just watched the Scorch Trails Movie...what?

Anyways, Thank you all so much for reading this story and the comment, as always, are fantastic.

Lastly, would anyone be interested in being a Beta for me?

A bloodcurdling scream rung through Joanne's head as she bolted upwards in a panicky sweat. Gasping for breath she clutched her chest, trying desperately to regain herself in the darkened world. Her poor excuse of a use of sheets were laying at her feet crumpled in a ratty ball.

It was only a nightmareShe reassured herself - surely if it had not been, someone else in the Glade would have heard that, yet everyone still lay peacefully asleep.

She didn't bother to even try to fall back asleep, she knew that she stood no chance and even if she did, the nightmares made it bad enough that no longer cared to rest. This had been a continuing pattern for some time now and she could only imagine that it was of her own doing.

For the most part, things at the Glade had been calm for the continuing week, however, Joanne had spun herself a web of lies with Gally and the rest over this note she'd found. Needless to say, the stress was beginning to catch up to her.

She'd gotten Gally off her trail... for the time being, but she could only imagine how long it would take for things to turn sour again. Gally only had to say the smallest of things about the situation for it to immediately become a problem. Joanne was stuck, she had no exit strategy for this consuming situation.

She couldn't possibly tell anyone of the note at this point. It had been weeks since her incident in the Maze, her time to come clean was gone. If she was to bring it up now, she knew that it would only be bad news.

Tip-toeing and weaving her way through the sleeping Gladers she made her way outside into the supposedly fresh air, inhaling deeply.

NEWT'S P.O.V

He was so conflicted, he knew that Joanne had every right to be mad at him for what he did. In all honesty, maybe he had expected it to go over better, but if he really thought about it, this was the way it was always bound to turn out. 20/20 hindsight, but he really hadn't expected to be bothered so much by Joanne's reaction. He was a caring person and at the time, one of the only two people that Joanne trusted at the Glade and he, without a doubt, betrayed her.

He did it for the safety of the Gladers though. He was responsible for the kids here, as much as he wanted to trust what Joanne said, he couldn't be sure. What if he was wrong about her? Was it worth the safety of all the other Gladers. She still didn't have a clean slate. Besides, she still had Minho, he would take care of her - Newt knew that he would. They were playing a good cop, bad cop situation and he'd somehow gotten the unfortunate role of bad cop.

But he couldn't dwell on that. Alby had told him to do it for the good of the Glade and so he did. She was never in extreme danger. Still...

He rubbed his forehead, Why is this so difficult.

He missed her smile. She barely smiled anymore and even if she did, it was never for him. It probably never will be, he realised that, but he didn't want it to be true. He only hoped that she would find some way in her heart to forgive him. It wasn't unreasonable what he did to her, but in her state of mind - he understood.

He pushed those consuming thought aside. He didn't have time to think about what he should have or shouldn't have done, it was a new day and he had things to do - A maze to run.

"Newt"

Surprised by the sudden voice, Newt turned to see Minho bidding him to follow him into the Map room.

Once inside, Minho was quiet for what felt like an eternity. This immediately worried the blond boy, the situation must have been seriously bad if Minho was lost for words.

"Minho, what's wrong?"

Minho's eye's dropped to the map in front of him, his face impossible to read, "There isn't a way out of the Maze"

Newt was in shock. Had he heard him right? They knew that this was a possibility, but he never fully believed that all their actions would be in vain.

"h-how..how do you know?" He dared to ask.

Minho finally looked at him, "we've gone over every possibility Newt. Twice over actually. There isn't a way out of the Maze - we would have found it by now if there was."

Newt let out a shake breath, his whole world crashing down on him, there was no way out. They were stuck here forever.

"We can't tell the Gladers" Newt finally said, "I'll tell Alby, but the others can't know"

Minho nodded, agreeing that it would be for the best, "We should keep running the Maze then, who knows"

Newt quickly nodded, but he could barely hear him anymore. Shock was completely taking over his senses, he needed air.

Stumbling out of the Map room, trying not to make a scene, he leaned against the door frame. How can that be true?

He stared off into the distance, the towering maze walls looked even more daunting. What's the point?

JOANNE'S P.O.V

Joanne kept drifting off at any quiet moment. Her eyelids felt like they had 10lbs weights attached to them, pulling them down. Finally decided that she wasn't being much use in the gardens at this moment, she choose to take a walk.

She'd pretty much explored every part of the Glade by now. She passed by one of the newest Gladers, he still looked shell shocked. She wished that she could offer some amount of comfort to the kid, but she really wasn't sure what she was supposed to do, so instead she continued walking.

Joanne found herself in the Med-jacks shack. For most days, they weren't that busy, which was always good. Jeff spotted her from across the room where he was organizing boxes of things.

"Hey Joanne!" He was one of the Glader's that had been friendly to Joanne from the beginning. Truth be told, she really hadn't seen much of him since she arrived her though. Still, she was glad for the warm welcome.

After exchanging greetings, it didn't take long for something to catch Joanne's eye. She wandered over to a drawer that was filled with oddly coloured vials and syringes. She picked one up examining it closer.

"Hey Jeff?," She turned to look at him, "What's this?"

He shrugged, leaning against a table, "we don't know. They come up with every time a box comes up with supplies, but we aren't sure what they are for."

Joanne looked back at the vile in her hand, "And you've never tested it on anyone?"

Jeff shook his head, "Alby doesn't want to risk it, for all we know it could be some virus that wipes out the whole Glade population."

Joanne's eyebrows knit together, "what would be the point in doing something like that?"

"What's the point in putting us here.."

He did have a point, until they knew for sure what the motive of the creators was, how could they be sure about anything.

She hummed but put the vile back where she had found it, she figured that she shouldn't over-stay her welcome and excused herself. She should probably get back to work in all honesty. There were so many questions though, a rather reoccurring situation.

Heading back to her spot in the gardens, she realised that she hadn't seem Minho or Newt, for that matter, all day. It wasn't particularly odd, but she did feel better when Minho would drop by to check on her once and a while. As for Newt, she was mad at him, but she definitely didn't hate him. Needless to say, she did miss having actual conversations with him.

She sighed, maybe this was the beginning of her forgiving him...Maybe she was just lonely. She couldn't be sure.
