Chapter 8: This spells disaster.
Klaus Mikaelson was very content, to say the least, and it was all to do with the, currently showering, blonde only one floor above him. It took most of his strength to not go into her room and sneak into the shower with her.
Laughing lightly to himself at the thought of getting into a shower with Caroline; he glanced out of the large front window he was standing behind. The view was of the front gardens in the moonlight. It was a scene he liked to paint regularly; the silver light dancing across the blades of green and cascading soft shadows that created art in themselves. It was hauntingly beautiful.
His viewing was cut short by the buzz of his mobile phone in the back pocket of his blue jeans, he sighed; knowing who the caller would be already.
"Dear brother, how is our witch doing?" He asked in his usual candid voice.
Klaus heard his brother sigh from the other end of the line, the small smirk was instantaneous; he loved annoying his 'dear' brother.
"She is fine Nicklaus, not one single drop spilled. You should be glad." Elijah said back in his calm voice, but Klaus could practically see the frown on his face.
"Then all is well, we can continue with our plans. Hopefully before Marcel manages to get to her again." Klaus said leaning his shoulder against the cool glass of the large window, his back to the moon lit view. His eyes glittered over the messy study room he was currently in, and finally they landed on a glass bottle of amber liquid before he pushed back from the window and moved to the bottle lazily.
"Yes we can continue with the plan, brother." There was a short pause on Elijah's end as Klaus poured himself a large glass of bourbon, "I heard that Miss Forbes is in town with Elena and the Salvatore brothers." He finally said; his tone guarded.
Klaus stiffened slightly as he lowered himself into the large, leather, armchair facing the blazing fireplace.
"Yes, they ran into some trouble on the outside it seems. I offered them shelter." Klaus said matching his brothers tone entirely.
"What is it you want from them Nicklaus?" Elijah said wearily.
Klaus rolled his eyes and drank from his glass, the familiar biting taste calming him down.
"Nothing Elijah, I simply couldn't let her die. Is that so hard to believe?" Exasperated, Klaus leaned forward in his seat and drank again from his glass.
The fact that he had saved Caroline still annoyed and bewildered him to this day. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't allow her to die. And that fact hit him somewhere that hadn't been hit in a very long time.
Elijah didn't respond, though Klaus could hear him pacing through the phone.
"Then I'll leave you alone, but Nick. Don't make things difficult for us; we need this to go smoothly. There will not be a second chance." With that Elijah ended the call and Klaus was let to stare blankly at the screen of the mobile sourly.
As if he didn't already know that!
Caroline was content, eerily so, as she brushed her shoulder length hair at her newly stocked dresser in the home of a man she swore to dislike. Or so she told herself. Thankfully, Damon and Elena had stopped…Caroline shuddered at the memory and pushed it to the back of her mind, deciding to focus on brushing her hair instead.
Once all the tangles were gone she whipped the hair into a messy bun, not caring how it dried or what it looked like. She only wished to be wrapped up in the warmth of the huge bed sitting in front of her.
With a soft, delicate, sigh she trudged to the bed and slid under the sheets, revelling in their silky softness, before allowing her eyes to flutter shut.
The last thing she managed to hear was the footsteps of someone passing her room, but only after they had stopped at her door for two seconds before carrying on down the corridor.
Despite herself she smiled and sleep took over her achy body.
Unfortunately, Caroline wasn't woken up from her dreamless sleep in such a peaceful manner.
"Caroline love! Get up before I send in Adam to do the job, it's midday already, and I need you for something!" Klaus yelled from the other side of her closed door sounding incredibly irritated. Caroline groaned and rolled over in her large bed.
"Go to hell Klaus, find someone else to do your bidding." She mumbled into her pillow and began to doze off again. The sound of her door opening had her groaning again.
"Can't do that sweetheart, what I need doing requires someone I am less likely to kill within five minutes of their presence. And, right now, you are on the top of that very short list." Klaus's voice was as soft as silk as he made his way to Caroline's bed in the centre of the elegant room. He was smiling at the sight of her wrapped tightly in the bed sheets, her head face down in one of her pillows as she grumbled and groaned into it.
"Just pick the second on the damn list then Klaus, I'm not in the mood to play today." Caroline said finally sitting up, knowing how crazy her hair must look, not to mention the fact that she was only wearing a loose fitted camisole and shorts. But at that particular moment, she could care less about her appearance.
Klaus, on the other hand, was on the verge of laughing at the strangely bewitching sight. Caroline, surrounded by rumpled bed sheets, her hair sticking up at odd angles and her eyes still half shut in her sleepy state; was really something he would pay to see again. And again. And again.
"I don't want anyone else from the list love. Now hurry up and get dressed, I'll have a blood bag waiting for your down stairs in the kitchen." Klaus said with a careless shrug before turning on his heels and heading back to the door.
"Wait! You haven't even told me about what we are doing!" Caroline said after him, mentally cursing as she realised she had already given in to his God forsaken dimples.
Klaus smirked smugly when he looked over his shoulder at her.
"I'll tell you downstairs Caroline, no do hurry. We are late as it is." With that he vanished through the door, closing it swiftly as he did, leaving Caroline to glare at the spot he had been in previously.
With a rough sigh, she pulled herself from the warmth of her bed and toward her newly stocked wardrobe.
"And what should I wear for this outing?" She said after a minute of looking and having no idea of what to wear for the occasion. Caroline new he would hear her, and of course he did when he replied with:
"Something you won't mind getting ruined." He called back, the smirk evident in his accent.
Caroline sighed and pulled up a pair of black skinny jeans and a green button up shirt, neither of which she really cared for. She then laid the clothes down on the messy bed and entered her bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth.
Once done in the bathroom Caroline returned to her clothes and began the task of getting ready. As she did she wondered the reason Klaus would go so far to make her come with him, where ever that may be. Maybe he really did need her help, though she couldn't see with what. He had plenty of people at his disposal, all far stronger than her she betted. Maybe he was telling the truth and he really did need someone he could stand to be around.
That in alone was enough to give Caroline a headache, Klaus Mikaelson could stand to be around her.
Caroline scoffed, even she knew that was being modest.
Shaking off her unwelcomed thoughts, Caroline let the matter drop and walked over to her dresser, now full dressed in the clothes she picked out, and brushed out her hair before running her fingers through the messy curls. Tilting her head she frowned, feeling no need to curl out the mess or straighten out the kinks.
She only wished to tie it away as it was a hindrance.
Old Caroline would never leave the house looking like she did just now.
It was that thought that had her plugging in the curling iron, and fixing the mess that was her hair. It was also the reason she was another ten minutes late for Klaus.
"Finally," Klaus drawled when Caroline entered the kitchen, almost forty five minutes after Klaus had awoken her. Caroline smiled sarcastically at him and sat opposite the blood bag on the table.
"Where is everyone, I was supposed to go shopping with them today." She asked, ignoring his annoyed look.
"They left an hour or so before I came in to get you, something about sights to see. They wanted to wait for you, but. I can be pretty persuasive when I want to be." He said offhandedly while rolling his eyes.
"I wanted to look around too y'know?" Caroline snapped pulling off the corner from her blood bag and bringing it to her lips to take and overdue drink.
"And you shall, but with me instead. Now don't scowl love, it will only give you wrinkles." Klaus laughed at her scrunched eyebrows, while she continued to drink from the blood bag.
"Perk of being a Vampire? No wrinkles; now stop being an ass and tell me what you are up to." She replied placing down her empty blood bag and cupped her hands together on top of the table.
Klaus's smile faded, and his usual cold mask took its place. His body shifted, becoming more tense, as he leaned towards Caroline: nothing but seriousness in his eyes.
"I need you to come with me today to meet Sophie. The witch we rescued last night. She is very important to the plans I have in order to getting rid of the pest Marcel for good, but before any of that can happen I need her cooperation. For some reason she won't give me it, in fact. She refuses to use witch craft at all these days, not even to defend herself."
Caroline stored all this new information to the back of her mind to think about later, for now she would focus on the important bits.
"What does that have to do with me going with you today?" Caroline asked sceptically subconsciously moving away from his wicked gaze.
"It seems she wishes to thank you for her life after last night's events. The perfect opportunity for me to get what I need from her without too much hassle." Klaus said leaning back into his chair his hand waving in the air as he spoke.
"So there's no list?" Caroline finally asked after minutes of trying to work out Klaus's real angle, the one he won't be sharing until it's far too late for anyone to do anything about it.
Klaus smirked and cocked an eyebrow at her teasingly.
"Oh there is most definitely a list love."
Caroline tried her hardest not to smile at his cockiness, she really did. But, it still didn't stop her from cracking a huge grin at him, her head falling back as she laughed soundlessly at the mere thought of him carrying around such a list with him.
Klaus watched her in wonder, unable to contrive how such a beautiful creature was smiling, laughing, for him. And all too soon they were interrupted.
"Boss, Luke is waiting for you guys in the car." Adam appeared in the kitchen doorway, a curious look on his tony face, snapping Caroline from her brief lapse of sanity and returning her back to her usual wary self.
"Car? How far away are we going?" She asked pushing away from the table and following Klaus as he made his way behind Adam towards the front door.
"Not far, but what's the point in running around everywhere when you can drive?" Klaus replied not bothering to look back at her.
Caroline nodded anyway, he was right after all but, all the years she and her friends had done nothing but run; it was strange to be able to move about in such comfort.
Luke was waiting in the driver's seat of a sleek, black, car in the driveway. Klaus immediately took the front seat beside him and Caroline slipped into the back silently.
"I'll check up on the others while you are gone then?" Adam said peering into Klaus's window, a subtle frown on his face.
"If you will mate, and check in on Anne. She's been having some trouble with Robert as of late, kill him if he gets too much for her." Klaus said shrugging before rolling up the electric windows once more and Adam flashed away out of sight.
Caroline felt herself stiffen at the casual murder plot. Although she had no idea of what trouble this person might be causing, she was sure Klaus didn't have to have him killed for it.
"None of your business love." Klaus warned in a neutral tone that Caroline knew she wasn't meant to cross. So, of course she did.
"None at all, but it is kinda my conscience you are messing with when you make death threats so casually." She said looking out of her window as Luke started the car his posture stiffening at Caroline's words.
Klaus sighed and looked over his shoulder at the glaring blonde.
"Robert has been leering at Anne for a few weeks now, and I happen to like the woman. I see it in my power to help her out, the creep deserves all he gets."
Caroline was stunned by his words. She hardly ever saw the protective side of him, and that was normally around his family or, on some occasions, herself. It was odd to see him feeling so strongly about this man who was perving on a barmaid, someone she thought was only there because he deemed it so. Not because he actually 'liked' her.
She was thrown off by the ugly feeling roaring in her stomach, an awful green emotion that clawed at her insides at the thought of the connection Klaus shared with the friendly Vampire.
"What's wrong?" Klaus asked his eyebrows furrowed, mistaking Caroline's grimace for pain.
"Nothing, I'm just trying to get over this…Almost caring side of you." Her words were slow, careful, like she was unsure of how he would react but Klaus just laughed.
Really, he laughed! Caroline watched was his head was thrown back, hitting the head rest of the leather seat, and his mouth opened widely to let out the deep throaty, childish, noise. It was captivating to Caroline.
Even Luke was stunned for a moment, his eyes straying from the road to his Sire.
"Love, you, above all, have seen that God awful side of me the most." He looked back at her his eyes still sparkling with laughter and she was caught off guard. She knew he was right: he just didn't have to say it out loud.
"You know that's not what I meant you idiot." She huffed folding her arms over her chest. She felt like she had just lost for some reason.
Luke chocked back a laugh from the front seat, finding it highly amusing that the fearless leader had just been called an 'idiot.' It was not something you see every day. Until Caroline came to town that is.
Klaus turned in his seat so to face the blonde pouting Angel with fangs and arched a perfect eyebrow at her, but didn't say anything. No, he just stared and waited for her to explode. He could see it happening, her lips forming a straight line, her hands fisting tightly…
"Go stake yourself. Stop that! Klaus! Stop smiling at me like that! I swear to God Klaus!" She ranted he hands reaching out to grab his neck but the car came to an abrupt halt, if it wasn't for her Vampire senses she would have smashed her face into the back of Luke's chair; but she caught herself just in time.
"Okay: we're here." Luke announced stepping out of the car as fast as he casually could.
Caroline gave Klaus one last glare before sliding out of the car too.
The house in front of her wasn't much different from the one she was currently residing in. It was large, had a manor house feel to it and was absolutely gorgeous in the most picturesque way.
"Let's get this over with then." She muttered following look up the smooth stone steps that lead to the huge wooden, oak, double doors. Luke was already there, knocking loudly.
Caroline stood by his side and Klaus flashed up to stand by her other, giving her a devilish smirk before turning back to the door that was now open and in its place stood another male Mikaelson.
Elijah.
Caroline had only ever seen him from afar, and even then he looked exceptionally handsome, but up close he was very beautiful. His well-polished black suit and grey shirt fit his presence perfectly as he stared down at Caroline with mild curiosity.
"Well brother? Are we coming in or are you going to brood all day?" Klaus said tilting his head slightly; mockingly.
Elijah ignored him and smiled carefully at Caroline.
"I'm sorry, Nicklaus has no idea about manners. The proper thing would have been for him to introduce you to me, but since he isn't making any notion to do so I shall take the initiative shall I? I am Elijah Mikaelson, it is a pleasure to meet you, at long last, Miss Forbes." Elijah introduced himself with the utmost politeness; Caroline found herself wondering about the legitimacy of his birth right.
Caroline smiled back at the oldest Mikaelson sibling and reached her hand out into the small gap between them to grab the hand he had offered her.
"Miss Forbes? Wow, been a while since some has called me by that name! Please, I am Caroline and your brother is a jerk so I didn't really expect him to introduce us anyway." Caroline shook Elijah's hand briefly before they both pulled away and she fixed a loose strand of hair behind her hair.
Elijah cocked an eyebrow at his brother at her statement, waiting for the angry outburst or mild death threat; instead he was hit with a bright smile and shake of the head.
"You have to try a little harder to offend me sweetheart, your insults are getting old." Was all he said baffling Elijah, he looked to Luke for some answers but again he was gifted with a smile and a hidden laughter.
"I don't have time to be wasting on thinking about you Klaus, now Elijah? Can we please come in? I think I'm about to hit your brother and I just know he will only get pleasure from it; so if you will…"
Klaus cocked a cocky eyebrow at her then shrugged at his brother.
"Ah, she knows me so well. Lead the way brother."
Elijah was undoubtedly dumbstruck, but he managed it well and kept his poker face in place as he lead the party of three through the luxurious house.
He lead them into a small parlour with three armchairs and a loveseat, in the centre sat a wooden coffee table with a vase of perfumed roses that Caroline eyed with a smile.
"Please, take a seat. I'll go and fetch Sophie for you." Elijah was gone before Caroline could utter her thanks so she simply sat herself down on one of the armchairs, so Klaus didn't have an excuse to sit by her, and crossed her leg over the other in her best lady like impression.
"What's Sophie like Luke?" Caroline found herself asking the Hybrid with more than a little of curiosity.
Luke was surprised by her question but grinned at her before answering.
"She is…Sophie is amazing, super powerful but just so…Human. Even for a witch, she's kind and compassionate. You will like her, she has the same glow about her that you do." He sat down on the love seat as he talked to her. His eyes shining proudly as he spoke of the woman.
Caroline's eyes darted to Klaus once he was done speaking, wondering if he remembered when he had basically told her the same thing almost eighty years ago. By the small smile he was giving her, she took it he did. She even pushed away her bitterness to smile back at him.
"I'm sure I will. I hope she likes me."
"It's hard to hate the person who saved your life once." A soft, breezy voice entered the room as Sophie and Elijah appeared.
Again, Caroline's eyes darted to Klaus's; he was already staring at her, a gentle look on his face. She couldn't take it and stood up to greet Sophie instead. She isn't want to start thinking about things like that.
"Let's not make it a second time then huh?" She said smiling brightly at the girl. She was truly...Normal looking? Her brown hair that fell in waves, her average figure and height. Yes, she was the epitome of human. And Caroline thought she was beautiful.
"Let's. I'm Sophie Grayson, thank you for helping me out last night." Sophie blushed slightly and fiddled with her fingers nervously.
"Nah, hardly broke into a sweat. He hardly let me do anything, so don't worry about it." Caroline waved off her nerves and jabbed her finger at Klaus who glared back at her warningly.
It seemed she was going a little over board today.
Well, she was supposed to be shopping today. Not doing his dirty work.
"If I had, the both of you would be dead. You should consider that love," he said calmly in return to her jibe. Caroline only scoffed and rolled her eyes at Sophie.
"Ignore him, so how are you feeling now?" Caroline sighed crossing her arms over chest roughly.
Elijah caught his brother's eyes as the two women spoke, the message was clear. "Really?" He had never witnessed many people stand up to his brother and dismiss them without their hearts ending up on the floor. Other than his siblings, but they usually ended up with daggers in their hearts, yet this child can twist him around her finger and live.
And she knows it.
Klaus glowered back, his eyes darting to Caroline who was laughing at something the Witch had said, he had to refrain from tying her down and forcing her to just give in to his will, he knew she never would. She would kill herself before she allowed that to happen.
But then, he thought, would he enjoy her quite as much if she wasn't so defiant?
The thought stumped him.
"Well, ladies, sorry to break up you chatter but I need to talk to Sophie now."
Elijah sighed and began to move towards Klaus, to stop him from doing anything stupid, but before he could get very far his head burst into pain so strong he thought he was a newly turned vampire once more.
He could hear Caroline yelling and, shortly after she stopped, the sound of her body hitting the floor. He watched as Klaus tried to move to grab her but the pain in his own head forced him to grab onto the love seat for support instead.
"What the hell is going on?!" He demanded looking at a distraught Sophie who fell to her knee's by the blonde Vampires head.
"I don't know! I'm not doing this!" She yelled back looking at her brother as he writhed in pain by Klaus's feet.
The pain in their heads had the brothers groaning as it intensified, it was like nothing they had felt before.
"You really are strong." A new voice hummed over the pain. Klaus snapped his head upwards and found three witches gathered around Sophie their hair blowing about their faces as the controlled the damned spell going on in their heads.
"But we are stronger it seems." The shorter of the three said smiling.
The women were all eerily alike, the same green eyes, black hair and tanned skin. They had to be sisters.
"Who are you?" Elijah asked calmly, even in the state he was.
"We are only here for our kin. Who we are is of no concern." The shorter one spoke again, just as the other two each grabbed one of Sophie's arms and yanked her upwards.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Klaus warned his tone nothing but darkness.
"There is nothing you can do, Hybrid. We are already gone."
And they were. Vanished. Leaving nothing but the dull pain as a reminder of what had just happened.
There was something wrong, Caroline decided when she slowly became aware of her surroundings. He head was thrumming to an unimaginable beat, but there was something more. Something that set her into a panic.
She couldn't hear.
Her eyes flashed open: her body going rigid.
She was lying on an unknown bed on top of the sheets, in front of her stood Klaus and Elijah. They seemed to be arguing about something, going by the way Klaus was throwing his hands in the air and pointing furiously at his brother, no doubt it was something to do with the reason Caroline was currently lying on this bed.
She groaned and cupped her head, trying to remember what had happened for her to get here; in pain and deaf.
Klaus flashed to her side of the bed the instant he realised she was awake. His eyes searched her fear ridden face. He was saying something to her, but he was going too fast for her to make out to words.
"Klaus," she breathed over him bringing his rant to a stop, "I can't hear you. Why can't I hear you?" He voice shook and her hand reached out to touch his arm but she stopped at the last second to cup her head instead as another round of pain spangled into her vision.
Klaus's eyes widened before he turned to his brother and began speaking again, or maybe he was shouting; Caroline couldn't be sure. Elijah said something back to him, though he looked uncertain himself, far calmer than Klaus. Whatever it was it made Klaus calm down a little and turn back to Caroline.
She was surprised to see the sadness in his eyes as he stared into Caroline's terrified face.
He began to speak, a lot slower and far more careful. He was lip syncing.
"It will fade. You will be able to hear in a minute."
Caroline nodded and waited. Waited for the pain to recede and her hearing to return. Klaus didn't move from her side, and Elijah moved to the bottom of the bed; also waiting patiently for the young blonde to recover.
Then it happened.
All at once Caroline's nose began to bleed, along with her ears, and the pain went with the falling blood.
"Caroline?" His voice was marred, like her head had been under water, but it was a beautiful sound to her ears.
"I heard you." Caroline murmured wiping the blood from her lips.
Elijah appeared with a cloth tissue and handed it to Caroline from the opposite side of the bed as his brother. She took it thankfully and began wiping the blood.
"How are you feeling love?" Klaus asked as Caroline wiped the remaining blood from her face and neck.
"Like death himself." He voice was cracked and sore sounding, and for the first time she wondered how long she had been out for.
Klaus sighed and gently wiped the corner of her chin she had missed, erasing the last bit of blood as he did so, and gave her a small smile.
"Sorry about that."
Caroline blinked up at him and then darted her eyes to Elijah who also looked surprised at Klaus's apology. Caroline could do nothing but nod as thanks.
"What actually happened? I only remember this crazy pain in my head and then bam! I wake up here deaf." Caroline asked sitting her back up against the head rest.
"We were attacked, by three very powerful witches. So powerful in fact they were able to bring Nicklaus to his knees. They took Sophie and since then we have had out men scouring the city looking for them, but I doubt they are still here. If they ever were, they have the ability to just vanish. Quite peculiar." Elijah explain a slight crease on his forehead as he spoke.
'Peculiar' wasn't exactly how Caroline would describe the witches powers, no. She would use a far more 'gritty' adjective.
Poor Sophie, Caroline thought; her heart swelling for the woman she had only just met. She would help, she decided, in any way to bring the young witch back. Though she doubted she could be of much use.
"Where's Luke?" She asked trying to listen for him but it seemed her hearing was still a bit off.
"He is already out on the streets looking for Sophie." Klaus said still watching her carefully.
"And the whole deaf thing? What was that?" Caroline asked trying to make the ordeal sound casual, but the Original's in the room were no fools and they could still hear the fear in the young Vampire's voice.
"She literally boiled your brains love, the spell was for Hybrid's and Originals. You couldn't handle it. When you healed, the blood in your head affected your hearing, it cleared up when it finally left your body." Klaus said folding his arms over his chest and leaning away from her slightly.
Caroline nodded, trying not to wince at the descriptive picture his words painted, and looked down at the bloodied tissue in her hands.
"What now?" She asked still looking down at the cloth.
"Now you go back and rest, feed. Elijah and I will deal with this." Klaus said firmly.
She had been expecting it, of course she had, but it still annoyed her the way he just thought he could command her will.
"And if I don't?" She said strongly looking him in the eyes defiantly.
"Then I will snap your neck and have you carried there, don't test me love." Klaus warned completely serious.
Elijah had to bite back his amusement at the scowl Caroline gave Klaus after his threat. She knew he wasn't to be pushed on the matter, and Elijah doubted she cared.
Yes, he liked this one.
"And then when I wake up? Dungeon? Or wait! Enchanted sleep by some witchy spell. Please, try it Klaus because the second you get bored and decide to wake me up I will refuse to even look at you." Her voice matched Klaus's level of seriousness and though Elijah thought the threat was hardly much of a, well, 'threat,' he was surprised to find his brother wincing; his eyes never leaving Caroline's stormy ones.
"I'm only trying to keep you safe. But no! Caroline is too stubborn for her own good! Fine! Stay here, but you will not move from this bed until you have fed." With that he stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him as he went.
"The biggest child in the world." Caroline huffed under her breath earning a chuckle from Elijah.
"I have to congratulate you, Caroline, you were able to change my brothers mind without lifting a finger. It really is astonishing." Elijah said smiling down at her slightly.
Caroline had the audacity to look embarrassed as she fiddle with the bloodied cloth again.
"I don't mean to, not really. He just gets on my God damn nerves!" She scrunched the handkerchief in her hands and sighed.
"I'm sorry, I know I'm a hindrance. But, well, I want to help, Sophie was so kind. She reminds me of me, I guess. Well, before I saw everything I have." Caroline rushed trying to put her point across in some way.
Elijah nodded and smiled again; this time a little wider.
"I understand. Now, please, rest. Someone will be up with some blood bags: you prefer them, yes?"
Caroline smiled in reply and Elijah left the room; closing the door gently behind him.
Downstairs, in another living area, Klaus stood with an open book in his hands and a frown on his face as he scanned the pages furiously. He was looking for some information about the spells that were performed in this house not hours ago.
"Still no luck into discovering how they got into our enchanted home then, brother?" Elijah asked silently appearing in the leather armchair by the fire.
"None what so ever, it should be impossible. I'll seek out a witch from the Quarter." He said flipping another page.
"Then you haven't discovered which coven they are from?" Elijah prodded clasping his hands on his lap.
"No." Klaus said curtly his mind elsewhere.
Before Elijah could ask another un-needed question, his mobile phone rang from the inside of his suit pocket.
"Rebekah?" He said into the device without any greeting. That got Klaus's attention.
"Elijah! Something terrible has happened! Two witches attacked me and Matt, Elijah! They took him! I don't know what for but: please! You have to help me."
