Prologue- Thoughts Of An Ancient

It was all wrong, his masterpiece ruined because of a stitch in time. Time was, is and will be so fragile indefinitely and one creature ruined it… He glared at the threads of the Fates and was angered at the prospects of his work going down the drain. Because of one being… an arrogant, self-righteous human. Who couldn't leave the object in its rightful place! He couldn't get the taste of disdain from his mouth like he ate a bad meal for the last time. He rushed out of his stiff wooden oak throne in a fury of emotions mostly rage. He flipped the table that held the quilt the Fates still threaded and the three women scampered quickly to make sure said quilt wasn't ripped due to the almost assault on it.

He wasn't a God or a Kami, perhaps one day his children's children will be worshiped as one. He was just a very powerful upset being called an Ancient. He was different from most Ancients who protected time alongside the Fates, he delved into the universes using the threads of Fates… he was their authority and they spun, snipped and protected the masterpiece he influenced. He was the only Ancient to touch the quilt without the fear of dying or consequences unfolding across every region of the endless worlds out there. Perhaps centuries of Ancients made him what he was today… invincible.

The quilt was an arrangement of color of reds, blues, pinks, yellows, you name the color it was there and it was awe-strikingly beautiful except for a knot that refused to be snipped by Atropos the cutter of the life thread. She looked at her two sisters Clotho the spinner and Lachesis the measurer in panic. They have been trying to fix the knot for years now and it still wouldn't budge, they thought it just need a little coaxing but the ripples in time was widening. One world was dying and the other world oblivious to the perils of the dying world. All the other worlds and universes were beginning to collide with each other and mingle in places they should not.

"Fix this...You're the Fates for goodness sake!" He slammed his palms on his wooden desk angered at the lack of action. Papers filled with plans scattered everywhere and his hands throbbed in pain but he ignored it.

"We can't…" For them to admit that it scared the shit out of Him, if they couldn't then who could?

The truth of their words caught him off guard. One creature, one lousy creature caused all this and for what? A decade of pretending the object was the human's own. He gritted his teeth and a growl slipped out. His eyes glowed red for a second before he swallowed the heavy emotion of anger down. He brushed his right hand through his hair in frustration and as he swore for the umpteenth time. The environment around him changed.

He felt an impulse, a need that needed to be met and meet it he did. His eyes closed for a second and opened with an Ancient power swirling around him. His eyes blazed with a silvery tint, his hair whipped about him, his hands hummed with a silvery glow, and before any of the Fates could stop him he snipped the knot away.

Atropos gasped in shock and the other two had their mouths to the floor. Something they couldn't do he did effortlessly.

He walked away from the Fates with a heavy heart for the events to come. He was just he knew, he was merciful but he understood that every exchange in life was filled with consequences whether good or bad. This consequence took years to come to fruition but come it would and all he could think was… an eye for an eye. It's a pity Walter… Your action alone has condemned your world.

The quilt laid between the Fates hands whole once again.
