Sorry for going against the queue I gave you before. I learned that Tokyo Ghoul season 1 was apparently dubbed some time ago. This led to me watching both seasons again, and reading what I missed from :re. Thus I wound up writing a fanfic about it, Carnefex, which threw the whole plan off.
That said, I have really been trying to improve my writing. Several writers on this site have been helping me with that, and I am grateful.
Also, for the guest reviewer who said "You can't mix chakra", you mean like in canon how various ninja use another person's hand for seals to suit various purposes? It does happen. Also for the record, I hate it when I receive 'criticisms' from guest reviewers. I can't tell who you are, and I can't respond to you to talk about what could in fact need work. So if you feel the need to log out to review my story (because let's be honest, almost everyone who reads fanfiction and even those who just know about the show probably have an account) then I'm usually not going to bother responding to you. Right now I'm letting everyone know my thoughts on the matter. My experience with guest reviews is this; either they are nice and just say 'great chap' or something simple like that, or they are not and offer no real criticisms aside from telling me what I can't do in fanfiction and what didn't happen in canon. Both of which are useless to me, as most everything I change is intentional, and as for what I can't do... you know I really tried to come up with something clever here but the answer is pretty obvious. I do what I want!(Cartman voice)
Also, credit to Lu Lu-Chan25 with regards to the base Idea of Naruto finding information in the Legacy Journal. I almost used the Idea before I credited her, and that would not have been good. She has given me permission to use the Idea.
.
Naruto and Sasuke were looking, foolishly, through the Hokage's office one night in hopes of finding techniques to use. Mainly though they were using it as a cover for their stealth training. They would continually break in to various buildings and facilities and try to see how much they could do while they were there before they got caught.
Just last week they had managed to intricately paint the full Hokage monument in one night while remaining unnoticed.
At first, Sasuke had been reluctant to help Naruto perform these various pranks, but the prospect of testing his skills against ANBU was just too tempting. Granted it was only stealth and evasion being tested, but the fact remains.
Naruto looked around the office, behind paintings, under rugs, etc. but so far he hadn't found anything of use. Not that he expected to find some forbidden technique in the Hokage's office, but he at least expected more than what he was finding. Which was absolutely nothing.
"Naruto." The blond looked over to see Sasuke standing in front of an opened drawer, exposing a seal on the wood bottom. Naruto brightened and ran over, taking a blank tag out of his pocket.
"What are you going to do?" asked Sasuke.
Naruto took out his sealing brush, "I finally get a chance to use the seal Danzo-sama taught me. It will release whatever is in this seal for sure."
Sasuke was confused, "How is it going to do that? I doubt the Hokage would use a seal in his office if it was easy to get past."
"Of course he wouldn't, but he's never had to try to make a seal that would counteract this one." he said through brush strokes, "The way this seal works is it extracts an extremely small amount of chakra from the seal it's applied over, and loops it through a series of chakra amplifiers, increasing the amount of the original chakra of the seal until it appears to the original seal as if the creator is applying his chakra to release it." he finished and placed the tag over the seal in the wide drawer.
The seal tag started making a low humming sound which increased in frequency with every second. It started to glow faintly as the humming reached its peak, before there was a puff of smoke and two items were released.
One was a massive scroll, and the other was a green book.
Naruto's eyes widened, "No way!"
Sasuke raised a brow, "What?"
"This is the Scroll of Sealing, and that's the Legacy Journal!" Naruto exclaimed, picking up the journal with care.
"Mind telling me what either of those are?" Sasuke asked.
"The Scroll of Seals is the scroll that contains every Kinjutsu and dangerous technique known to Konoha and it's shinobi, and the Legacy Journal is the book that contains all of the secrets and all around sketchy events that occurred under the watch of the Hokage. This notebook contains information that is so dangerous that it could result in the destruction of Konoha." Naruto grinned, "Let's open it."
Sasuke looked hesitant, "I'm not so sure that's a good idea. From what you just said there's some dangerous stuff in there."
Naruto stared straight at the raven-haired boy, "Sasuke, we both have answers that we can get from this book. Like why everyone hates me and maybe the old man had some suspicions as to what happened to your family."
Sasuke scowled, "There's nothing to be suspicious about that night. My brother didn't try to hide what he had done at all."
Naruto shook his head, "'To test the limits of my ability'? What a load of crap. He killed young children and people who were so old they would have tripped and killed themselves. Sure there were some good shinobi in there, but most of the Uchiha clan were civilians. Then there's the other thing he told you. 'You aren't even worth killing'. Tell me Sasuke, if you weren't worth killing, then what made the people I mentioned before worth killing? It makes no sense!"
Sasuke stared at the journal thoughtfully, before he nodded.
"Open it."
.
"Do we have any suspects?" Shikaku asked seriously, "Also, did they find anything dangerous in there?"
"There are several people I have in mind." Sarutobi said, "To answer your other question, yes. The seal containing the Kinjutsu Scroll and the Legacy Journal had been tampered with, and when I released it only the Legacy Journal was still inside."
"Troublesome," the Nara said, "So the Scroll is floating around the village somewhere, hopefully anyways. We have to start looking. We cannot allow those techniques to leave the village."
"Agreed," Hiashi said, "If the Scroll fell into the hands of another village, it could spell disaster."
"Hokage-sama," an ANBU appeared next to the aged leader, "We've located the scroll, or rather two Academy Students found it."
The Hokage closed his eyes, his suspicions confirmed.
"Bring them in."
Several minutes passed, before the doors to the council chambers opened to reveal Naruto and Sasuke. Both had serious looks on their faces.
They stood in the middle of the room for a moment, looking over several of the people inside. The Hokage decided to get started.
"Naruto. Where did you get that scroll?" Sarutobi asked firmly. His eyes showed disappointment and hurt.
Naruto leveled the old man with slight glare, "We stole it from your office last night."
Several people gasped in shock, before many of them started yelling.
"How dare you!"
"Traitor!"
"Demon!"
"ENOUGH!" Sasuke shouted, anger ruling his features, "We took that scroll with us because we knew it would guarantee us an immediate audience with the 'oh so revered council'." he said mockingly.
"Watch your mouth, boy. You may be the last Uchiha, but you will show respect to your superiors." Koharu spoke sternly.
"You are not my superior, you relic." Sasuke growled.
Several people tensed up, including Sasuke, until Naruto gripped his shoulder. He shook his head and Sasuke backed down to the surprise of most in the room.
He looked across the council, before his eyes rested on Danzo, "You told me you had been involved with several 'unsavory' operations. You didn't tell me you spearheaded most of them." He looked at the Clan Heads, then to the Hokage, "Do they know the sins of this village?"
Hiruzen's eyes widened marginally, before he schooled his features, "I'm not sure what you mean."
Naruto reached into his pocket, pulling out several pieces of paper, "I'll start with the one that involves Sasuke, since I'm sure he wants to go first." Naruto cleared his throat before reading the paper aloud, "Today marks an event to blacken the history of our village. My heart is pained as I write this, so I will be succinct. On the date of this entry, the Uchiha clan has been destroyed. Due to my council's influence, the Uchiha clan had been ostracized and forced to live in one corner of the village. The actions taken were approved by me as there were suspicions that the Kyuubi attack six years ago included Uchiha involvement. I now deeply regret that decision as their relocation spurred ill feelings within the Uchiha towards the Konohagakure government. Eventually their isolation caused them to plan a coup d'etat against Konoha with the ultimate goal of instating an Uchiha in the position I now hold. The Uchiha clan attempted to embed an informant into the ANBU in the form of Uchiha Itachi."
Naruto stared at Danzo, who's face was impassive, "Once I discovered this, I immediately spoke to Itachi and managed to convince him that his clan's actions would lead to another war that would take many lives unnecessarily. Itachi became a double agent, and attempted to diffuse the coup from within. Sadly, he was unsuccessful, and my council ordered him to execute the instigators and important figures of the coup. He left to complete the mission he had been given, but after some interrogation I discovered that Danzo Shimura, one of my council, had intercepted Itachi and told him of two outcomes. The first would be total annihilation of the clan, including Itachi and his brother, Sasuke. The second would be to execute the majority of the Uchiha now. Sasuke would be spared, and Itachi would be allowed to continue serving the village under the guise of a missing nin. Tonight the second plan was carried out, leaving Sasuke and Itachi the only two surviving Uchiha in the world. Itachi has left the village with the intent of cultivating his younger brother's hatred towards him to grow strong. Sasuke will kill Itachi, and the Uchiha name will be redeemed."
The clan heads stared in shock at the advisors siting at the front of the room, having been told the same story as the rest of the village.
"Do you know how scared I was?" Sasuke ground out, "How many nights I stayed up for fear that Itachi would come back to finish the job?! My brother has been the bogeyman that motivated me to get stronger for years! Partially because I wanted to kill him, but mostly because I didn't want him to kill me! I've been afraid of him since that day, when I should have been afraid of a dagger to the back courtesy of the ALL GODDAMN MIGHTY COUNCIL!" He was screaming by the end, tears running down his face, from his now red eyes.
"The Sharingan..." Koharu muttered.
Sasuke's eyes widened, and he pulled out a freshly polished kunai to see his reflection, "It's this eye. This damned Sharingan is the reason for all of this!"
He turned the point towards his eye to impale it, but the blade never reached his face.
Naruto stood in front of him, the tip of the knife buried in his palm, "I thought you promised not to do anything stupid." he ground out, tossing the kunai aside. Sasuke was looking at Naruto in shock, but then he realized how dumb he had been acting. He turned away, face hung low.
Naruto shook his hand slightly before he turned back to the council, glaring at each and every one of them, "At first we were going to demand that you recall Itachi back to the village, but then we decided against it. There were a couple reasons, but the first would be Itachi's sacrifice in this 'mission'. He wanted the Uchiha redeemed. Next were the parts that came to us after we finished reading the entire Journal."
The council narrowed their eyes, and Naruto noticed, "Also, we have the entire contents of the journal copied and ready to be released in the event that we disappear under suspicious circumstances. Oh don't look at me like that Danzo-sama. I just asked myself, 'What would Danzo do'." he said in response to Danzo's withering glare.
"Besides," Naruto said, "I know that it most likely won't happen, as we'll be going along with Itachi's plan to redeem the Uchiha." at their shocked looks he elaborated, "We found out from the Journal, that Itachi was the carrier of the very same disease that plagues you," he pointed at the bandaged councilor, "and that he's going to die either way. Itachi's dream is to redeem the Uchiha, and that's what we're going to do."
Danzo stared a moment longer, "And you're not going to reveal village secrets from that Journal?"
Naruto scoffed, "I know how dangerous some of the stuff in there is, and although it would be easier to reveal Itachi's innocence, the village would come crashing down if I revealed this to the whole place. Hokage-jiji's and your political lessons taught me that."
Danzo smirked, "I knew there was a reason you were my apprentice."
Sarutobi sighed, "Does that conclude today's meeting? I need to speak to you boys."
Naruto nodded stiffly, "I need to talk to you as well."
Hiruzen nodded, guessing what Naruto wanted, "Alright, this council meeting is adjourned. All of the information spoken about for the duration of this meeting is to be considered a double-S classed village secret."
The council, civilians, and clan heads filed out of the room, each with a contemplative expression on their face.
After everybody had left, Sasuke, Naruto and the Hokage remained behind.
Naruto turned to the old Hokage, and Hiruzen prepared to spill.
"Why didn't you tell me about my parents?"
.
Naruto opened his eyes and groaned, the intense light from the window burning his eyes. He sat up and looked around the room, the images sharper than usual. His use of the Kyuubi's chakra burned off the seal holding back his eyes, as the seal was designed to do. The only problem with that was the fact that Danzo nor Fu were here to reseal his eyes like they had when he was first training in the use of demonic chakra. He was going to have to deal with having an active Sharingan through the rest of the mission. Last night he had hid it from Tazuna by walking in the front of the group, but that wasn't an option in the man's house.
He swung his legs off of the bed, cracking his neck. There was still some residual pain from where he had been eviscerated by Zabuza's sword, but the wound was mostly healed. He got up to see his orange jacket and pants stitched up perfectly. Most people hated the outfit, but that's why he loved it. Plus, he liked orange. He picked up the jacket and looked it over, the slightly off-colored orange threads the only sign that it had been torn into with a horse-slaying sword.
Naruto quickly got dressed, frowning as he saw a translucent silhouette of his hands moving in front of his eyes before it happened, the predictive powers of the Sharingan at work despite the lack of combat.
He stood staring at the door, "What am I going to do about that?" he mumbled quietly, pondering his visible Dojutsu, "Screw it, they're just noncoms in a backwater country. Anyone who would be able to find out here would have no trouble discovering them before we made it back to the village." He nodded to himself and walked out of the door to the guest room his team was staying in.
When he got downstairs he saw Sasuke and Hinata eating with Kakashi and Tazuna's daughter, Tsunami, "Hey." he said groggily as he sat down.
"You wouldn't wake up," Kakashi said, "So we got warmups out of the way and took a break to eat. We need to be on our toes in the event of Zabuza's return." He noticed Naruto's eyes, but said nothing.
Sasuke had a different thought, "Hey dobe, your eyes."
Naruto sighed, "Yeah, the seal burned off because I used 'red' chakra."
"Ano, d-don't you think you should reseal them?" Hinata asked.
"Woah," Tazuna walked into the kitchen and saw Naruto's eyes, "That's kinda freaky. What's up with your eyes?"
"Don't worry about it." Naruto said before turning back to his team, "My mentor and his assistant are the only ones who know the seal. I'm stuck like this till we get back to Konoha, which pretty much means the secret's out. " Tazuna opened his mouth but was cut off, "That doesn't mean I'm telling you."
Kakashi spoke up, "Well this is fortunate, in a way." At their confused looks he elaborated, "I had a lesson that I wanted to teach you three, but it requires the enhanced eyesight of a Dojutsu to use."
Naruto's eyes widened, "Um, Kakashi-sensei? I think I know what you're talking about, but I don't have the right element. I don't know about Hinata-chan, but as far as I know only Sasuke has that one. There's no way Hinata could use it if she doesn't have the element, waaay too much chakra. I might be able to, but it would leave even me drained. The elemental difference is just too large."
While Sasuke and Hinata looked on with confusion, Kakashi answered, "Don't worry. Once I explain it you'll understand."
"Well it must be lightning." Sasuke said, "Katon is a very common element, and the manipulation is regarded as being the easiest. Hinata would have no trouble performing Fire techniques."
Naruto rubbed his brow, "Sasuke, how do you manage to be just smart enough to find hidden meanings, and just dumb enough to blurt them out loud? It's really a talent."
Sasuke scowled, "Screw you, Naruto."
"H-how about we go to the forest so we won't need hidden meanings?" Hinata asked, slightly blushing when everyone turned to her. She still wasn't used to that yet.
Kakashi stood, "You heard the lady, come on."
"But Naruto-san." Tsunami said, "You haven't eaten anything since you arrived."
"It's fine, you already stitched up my clothes, I don't need to take your food too." Naruto said with a smile.
Tsunami shook her head, "I'd still offer if I did, but Hinata-san is the one who repaired your clothes."
Hinata stared at her lap with a fiery blush, hoping against hope that Naruto wouldn't say anything.
Of course he did, "You fixed my clothes?" he asked with a grateful smile, "Thank you." His smile then turned bit devious, "But I wasn't wearing them when I woke up. Care to explain?"
Hinata waved her hands back and forth while laughing nervously, "W-well I had to make sure you weren't i-injured. That's my duty as your teammate!"
"Uh-huh." Naruto said, grinning as he turned and walked out the front door.
Tsunami sighed, "He still didn't eat."
.
Kakashi stood in front of his students, hands held up to prepare signs, "Alright now, watch closely."
He went through three hand seals before gripping his wrist and holding his palm parallel to the ground. Lightning burst from his hand and arced along the ground, scorching the moist grass. The chirping electricity growing in density until his hands were no longer visible.
Naruto looked on in awe of Kakashi's most infamous technique. The density of the chakra he held was almost blinding, but the technique was already copied into his memory. Looking at it, and how it's formed, he began to get an idea as to how it could help them.
Sasuke was just staring at it with a smirk on his face. Even if he had never heard of chakra or knew the properties of each element, the technique resting In Kakashi's palm looked absolutely lethal.
Kakashi spun and swung his fist into a tree behind him. The light from his hand grew brighter and there was a loud crack, followed by flying splinters of wood as the tree exploded from the current and force of the lightning. The remains of the tree fell with a crash, and all three Genin looked at the damage with starry eyes.
"Chidori." Kakashi said with a modicum of pride as the lightning faded from his fingertips.
He turned back to the Genin, "Now, Hinata." he said, "Can you tell me about the unique properties of the Chidori, now that you've seen it with your Byakugan?"
Hinata tilted her head as she deactivated her Dojutsu, "Properties?"
"Anything that you thought was interesting about it." Kakashi explained.
"Well, it was really dense." she began, "And it sounds weird, but it almost looked solid. Also, you had the same chakra in your whole network that you had in your hand, just weaker."
"Absolutely right." Kakashi praised, "The function of the Chidori is a three-part process, thus the three separate handseals. Now there are many techniques that require more seals for less of an effect, but I created this one, so I know exactly how it works. The original version required nine seals, and I still have to do those if I want to use the second stage, Raikiri."
He formed the first seal in the sequence, "First, the Ushi seal is used to convert your chakra to Raiton. This is similar to the use of most fire techniques," he said while nodding at Sasuke, "but the difference is that while most Katon attacks confine the fire natured chakra to your lungs, that is neither possible nor practical with Raiton. The electrified chakra will immediately begin coursing through your chakra network regardless of where it begins, as is the nature of electricity. The main side effect of this is that most lightning users have heightened reaction times and movement speed." He formed the second seal, "Next, the Usagi seal. For this technique, the Rabbit seal is used to direct most of the Raiton chakra you've gathered into your arm, leaving enough in your body to keep the speed boost." He formed the last seal of the technique, "The final seal, Saru, is the most crucial, and must be performed immediately after Usagi, otherwise the large volume of Raiton chakra you have gathered will discharge once it reaches the end of your arm. If you're not careful or quick enough you can lose the use of your arm for several minutes at least, if not causing nerve damage. This can be fatal in any situation that you would actually need the Chidori. But back to the point, You use the Saru seal to contain and literally grasp the Chidori. Another way to describe it would be to create a shell of chakra in your palm, before the Raiton chakra reaches your palm. The end result is what you just saw. A barely contained mass of dense Raiton chakra. The speed at which you are moving while using the technique is the reason for the Dojutsu requirement. Kumo shinobi are trained from a young age to use and react to the speed acquired with Raiton chakra, so they don't need Dojutsu. That is, however the reason why they have gone after the Byakugan more than the Sharingan in the past. So! How did you like my little lecture?"
"You've probably been perfecting it for years, and are only now getting a chance to use it." Naruto said. The look on Kakashi's face said he hit the nail on the head.
Sasuke still had his slightly stupid grin of excitement on his face, "Can I try the technique now?"
Kakashi nodded, "For the others I have something else in mind, but for now," he pointed to a large boulder some distance away, "That's your target. See if you can't pierce all the way through it. Do it until you use half of your reserves, then tell me how many times you can use it."
Sasuke nodded and walked off quickly, eager to try out his new technique.
"Now Naruto," Kakashi said, "Since you seem to have inherited Root's way of thinking in some areas, can you tell me why this technique can be useful to you?"
Naruto smirked, "Yeah. The way you made the Chidori, it can be used with other elements, cant it?"
Kakashi nodded, "Spot on. In fact the only reason why I haven't done that already is because even though I've gained all five affinities, I can't control the others very well. That combined with the point you brought up earlier about chakra consumption has dissuaded me from trying it myself. This team is special on so many levels it's ridiculous. Everyone has a Dojutsu, and together we combine to have a strong affinity in every element. I can already guess your first affinity, Hinata, but we're going to check it for sure." he pulled out a slip of paper and handed it to the Hyuuga, "Chakra paper. Run some chakra through it and you'll see your affinity."
Hinata nodded and held the paper between two fingers, sending some chakra into it. The paper became damp, falling from her hand. Kakashi reached down and caught it gently, flattening it out on his palm. There was a cut halfway through the soggy paper, "Heh. Every member of this team is extraordinary. Your primary affinity is Suiton, as I suspected, but you also have a minor affinity for Futon."
A shout of pain combined with a high ringing drew their attention. Sasuke was shaking out his arm, as it had become numb.
He noticed everyone staring at him, "I was too slow on the last seal."
Kakashi nodded, "The largest gap I've gotten between the seals was slightly less than a half-second, so practice getting in that window before trying it. Caution is good, but your other problem was using too little chakra. If you were using enough, you wouldn't be able to move your arm at all."
Sasuke nodded, took a deep breath, and began going through the seals as fast as he could without chakra. He continued this as Kakashi turned back to his other students, "Naruto, do you know your affinity?"
"Futon and Doton, wasn't that obvious?" Naruto asked.
"Well yeah, but I didn't know whether Doton was your second element or you were just using it for defense." Kakashi said, "You're in luck, Earth is my second affinity, and I know several earth techniques. I wasn't able to mix Doton into a Chidori-like attack, as Doton chakra moves too slowly. That's why I think you'll have the hardest time of it, Hinata. Water is going to be a difficult element to use with this technique, if it's even possible. Both of you keep in mind that I am simply teaching you the basics of the technique so that you can use it down the road. Sasuke is the only one who has a reasonable chance of using Chidori within the span of this mission. You two will pretty much be creating a new technique."
Kakashi then looked at Naruto, "You, however, won't have much difficulty. It won't be easy by any means but it won't be as difficult . While Chidori was designed for Raiton, Futon would work almost as well with the original formula. The order of the speed at which the chakra moves, from fastest to slowest, is Raiton, then Futon, Katon, Suiton, and finally Doton. Since speed is so important to the technique, Wind should be the easiest element to to apply. Besides Lightning, of course."
A static sound emanated from where Sasuke was, and everyone turned to look. Sasuke was holding a small marble-sized ball of crackling lightning in his left hand, before it began growing rapidly. The sound changed from static to a loud chirping as the orb reached the size of Sasuke's fist. The Uchiha grinned and took off at a speed higher than he had ever achieved previously, catching him of guard slightly. He still hit the boulder he had targeted, but wound up carving a trench through the side of it rather than the center like he had intended. He stumbled to the side of the large stone as the ball of lighting fizzled out of existence.
Sasuke panted heavily as he looked at the damage the technique had done with a grin, "Heh, got it on the second try. The speed... will take some getting used to, but that's a good thing." he said between breaths.
"WOOOO! That was awesome!" Naruto shouted, "Yeah you almost ate shit, but if that was a real person they'd have either lost an arm or died. I've gotta have something like that!"
Sasuke put his hands on his knees as he took deep breaths, "I don't need to do it again. I know exactly how much it took. One third of my chakra. I can push and do it again, but I'd be exhausted afterwards. Maybe I should, though."
"That was excellent for your second try, Sasuke. You've got decent reserves too. I was thinking you'd pass out on the spot. Here." Kakashi made a shadow clone, who immediately began speaking, "Follow me. Perform the Chidori one more time. I will be your target. I will attempt to dodge as well, so you will need to use that speed to your advantage." said the clone before walking deeper into the forest where they would have room. Sasuke followed him without a word.
"Naruto and Hinata, I am going to teach you each a technique for your given element." the real Kakashi said. Hinata opened her mouth to speak, but Kakashi interrupted her, "I know that your clan publicly frowns upon Hyuuga using Ninjutsu outside of their Gentle Fist specialization, but it's just that; public. Did you know that Hiashi knows and has used the very same technique I plan on teaching Naruto? I know several others in your clan employ elemental Ninjutsu as well. So long as you don't do it say, in the middle of the Konoha Market District you should be fine. I bet they'd even praise your growth."
"If you s-say so, sensei." Hinata said lowly.
Kakashi sighed, "If you are really worried about it, just know that your clan has no say in what I teach you. On duty, I outrank even Hiashi when it comes to giving you orders. This is an order, by the way."
Hinata smiled, "T-thank you Kakashi-sensei." She perked up a bit, "So what are you going to teach me?" she asked with real excitement.
"An all-range Suiton Ninjutsu." Kakashi answered. He pointed at the center of a thick tree to his left with his index finger, and held it there for a moment before Naruto and Hinata realized that there was a very small drop of water formed on his fingertip.
"Suiton: Water Gun." Kakashi said before there was a small popping sound and the drop of water on his finger shot forward at such speed that Naruto's Sharingan could only see the trail of mist in it's wake as it pierced clean through the tree, leaving a two-inch hole gored through the trunk.
Hinata looked at the damage caused by the small water drop with apprehension. The technique was awesome, that was certain, but it was also quite clearly made for killing.
"This technique was created by the Hozuki clan of Kirigakure for their Hiden technique, the Hydrification technique. It's not actually a Kekkei Genkai, so I've been able to use it since the Third War after fighting a Hozuki. It requires high chakra control and a Suiton affinity, so it takes a significant amount of concentration for me to use. Hence I almost never use it. My water affinity is copied, not natural so it's just like how I can't use Chidori with other elements. It takes too much control and chakra for it to be worth it. A Hyuuga with Suiton, however, would have absolutely zero trouble performing this technique. It's really closer to a chakra control exercise than a Ninjutsu in how it works. Turn on your Byakugan." Kakashi ordered.
Hinata complied, and the telltale veins of her Dojutsu spread from her eyes.
Kakashi held out his finger again, slowly and deliberately forming the droplet so that she could examine it. She was surprised when she saw that the actual quantity of water in the drop was more than it seemed. The ball was twice as dense as it appeared, and was rigid as opposed to flowing liquid.
"Kakashi-sensei. Before you fire that, let me help Hinata see it move." Naruto said.
Kakashi hummed questioningly, and raised a brow when Naruto held his left hand out in a half-ram seal. He raised both when he saw Hinata complete the seal with her right hand. Naruto's eyes took on a pinkish hue before he closed them, and her own Byakugan turned the same color.
"Hiden: Sight Sharing" they said in unison, and Hinata watched the water drop keenly, "Okay sensei, fire it." she said.
Kakashi, despite his surprise, did so. The new tree was pierced in a similar manner to the first, and Hinata watched as the function of the bullet was revealed to her.
"Your chakra keeps the water highly compressed into a ball at the tip of your finger from all sides, and then you push the ball away from your finger like the Water Walking exercise. The chakra in front of the ball breaks apart from the force, and the ball itself flies from your finger at high speed. Am I right?" Hinata said as she deactivated her bloodline, surprising her teacher further.
"Yes, that's correct, but the Byakugan shouldn't have been able to determine that. The process goes to quickly for that. What was that technique you two used?" Kakashi asked.
"I learned it from my mentor's assistant. It has a lot of drawbacks, but essentially we can... fuse the Sharingan and the Byakugan to an extent. It's not perfect by any means. Hinata's the only one who can really use it. She gets a portion of the predictive properties of the Sharingan along with all of the Byakugan's normal abilities. All I get is a clearer outline of chakra systems. In addition to that, we can't move while using it, and one of us has to close our eyes. Otherwise it can knock both of us out. It's a paradox. With my eyes closed, I see what she does. If I opened my eyes, she would see what I see, which would be what she and I were both seeing. Sorry, it's really hard to explain." Naruto said sheepishly.
Kakashi was impressed nonetheless, "Well that's certainly surprising. How many techniques like that do you have?"
Naruto frowned, "A few. Kakashi, I really don't want to talk about them. They're Kinjutsu."
Kakashi's gaze sharpened, "How and why do you know Kinjutsu, Naruto? I can understand Shadow Clones, since you can't use normal clones and you have the chakra, but I get the feeling that you are talking about real Kinjutsu. Did your 'mentor' teach you?"
Naruto's expression didn't change, "Yes. Him and Jiji. Well, Jiji just approved some of them. I'm still not allowed to talk about them or use them unless absolutely necessary. That's Hokage-sama's order."
Kakashi frowned deeply under his mask, "Some of them? What about the ones he didn't?"
"He taught me Kinjutsu as well." Naruto said.
Kakashi stared at Naruto for a moment, trying to determine his honesty. He couldn't see any signs of dishonesty, "Fine, but You will consult me before using any, and you will tell me which one you intend to use. When necessary, of course."
Naruto nodded, relaxing a bit.
"Ano, I'm going to try to get the Water Gun down, so I'll be over there." Hinata said, pointing to a thicker area of the forest.
Just as she was about to leave, Kakashi chuckled. Both of his students turned to him questioningly before Sasuke stumbled out of the forest, small burns covering his left arm. His fingers twitched slightly as well.
"That's not how you're supposed to use the Chidori, Sasuke." Kakashi said with amusement.
Sasuke glared at him, before elaborating to his teammates, "I got angry and lost control of the Chidori. It blew up."
"You still destroyed my clone." Kakashi pointed out. Sasuke smirked at that. That was quickly lost, however, when he realized that he couldn't move anymore. He was barely able to keep his balance.
Kakashi chuckled at his predicament, "I'll take you back to Tazuna's. Naruto, watch me carefully. You can figure out what this technique does on your own. I'm sure you'll appreciate the challenge." Kakashi then placed his hands in the snake sign, before Naruto saw Doton chakra flow through and over Kakashi's entire body.
Outwardly though, there was no change. Nothing actually happened as a result, at least visibly.
"Ja ne!" Kakashi said as he picked up Sasuke and disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Naruto looked at where Kakashi had been, and his eyes widened as the smoke cleared.
Where there had previously been dark forest earth, now there was loose, lightly colored soil and plant matter in a perfect circle. Naruto grinned as Hinata struggled to figure out what Kakashi had done.
"Look," he said, "All the hard minerals are gone from where he was standing. He took them with him."
"What does that mean?" Hinata asked.
"You don't use Doton, so you wouldn't be able to know, but usually when you grab all of the hard rock and mineral from an area, you are about to prepare a serious defensive technique. And I think I know what he did."
Hinata was still confused, and was even more confused when Naruto made the same seal Kakashi had, and his grin widened.
"What does it do?" she asked.
Naruto merely held up his hand, and slowly turned it, making various gestures. The sunlight reflected off of some parts of his skin, as if it was made of marble.
'Oh'. Hinata thought. She activated her Byakugan again to see dull brown chakra running through his system, but the pathways themselves were harder to see. The Doton chakra ran over his skin, and her enhanced eyesight could tell that his skin was actually covered in a layer of hard stone that nevertheless flowed with his movements.
Naruto walked over to the scarred boulder from Sasuke's Chidori, and ran his hand over the surface of the stone. A light grinding sound was heard, before Naruto pulled back his right arm and punched the boulder firmly. Small cracks appeared where Naruto struck, bot on his fist and the stone itself. Naruto frowned before the layer of minerals over his body destabilized and crumbled away from his skin.
"Seems I still am going to need to practice this. The Sharingan can copy techniques, but it can't master them for me." Naruto said.
"That s-seems like a very useful power." Hinata said.
Naruto nodded, "It will be. but right now it can only take like one hit before breaking. I need to work on it. Wait a second!"
"What is it?" Hinata asked.
Naruto chuckled, "Isn't it frowned upon for a Hyuuga to use any defense besides Kaiten if they know it?"
Hinata frowned, "Um, yes. It's one of the stricter rules. The Kaiten is one of the most prided techniques in the Hyuuga clan."
"Kakashi said your dad knows and uses this one he just taught me." Naruto said with amusement.
Hinata was silent before she giggled slightly, "I guess he was right about my clan's public and private rules."

Zabuza Momochi sat on a couch in his hideout, staring at the small man in front of him. He really disliked working for him, hated the kind of work the midget had him do. But he needed the money, and this particular job would be paying nicely.
Mostly though he just hated Gato himself. The short man was just an all-around dick.
"What the hell are you doing, Zabuza? I told you to kill that damn pontiff, and here you are lazing about without a care. Do you want your money or not!?"
"Quiet down." Zabuza growled, "You're so annoying. If your wondering, Kakashi of the Sharingan is with them and has trained his brats very well. I'm calling in a favor to take them out without much more trouble."
"Oh? And who is this friend of yours?" Gato asked condescendingly.
"Mangetsu Hozuki."
.
Well that's it for this chapter. I'm going to try to make the chapters longer by fitting more stuff into them. Let me know what you think.
It's never actually stated when, where or how Mangetsu died, so I'm going with the idea that he died during the timeskip. Presumably in the Civil War of Kiri.
I'm aware that I've kind of been neglecting this story, but now I have a clearer plot than I did previously. You haven't seen much of it yet, but you will.
