After Leon moved in with Emil and Lukas, the first few weeks passed uneventfully. It was mostly just Leon setting up his room in the top floor, and once school started for them, it was only really Emil continuing with his regular classes while Leon got used to the school.
It was particularly warm that week and a few of the others even wore short sleeves and shorts. Leon sat outside on one of the tables, munching on his lunch when Emil walked up to him. "Hey, Leon," he said before sitting down next to him.
"Yo."
Emil sighed. "Is that the only greeting you know?"
"Yes."
Leon laughed a bit as he received an eye roll from Emil, who sat down and began to eat his lunch, nothing huge, just a sandwich made by Lukas. "I have something to show you," he said in between bites. "Just finish your lunch first."
Leon nodded and began to eat at a faster rate than before, finishing in minutes. "Done, now show me."
Emil nodded, tossed away the rest of his sandwich, and grabbed Leon's hand. "Come with me."
Leon followed as Emil lead him to the small forest behind the school, a place where they weren't supposed to go, but, no one was watching them, so it would be fine. Emil led Leon through the forest, weaving around trees, occasionally stopping to scan the area. Leon hadn't had much experience in forests, so he kept tripping, landing on his face or bumping into things. It was hard for Emil not to laugh whenever he did so, but he would always help Leon back up after.
"Where are we going? Are you trying to get us lost?" Leon asked eventually, tripping and falling on another tree root.
Emil helped him up yet again. "No, we're actually here. Take a look," he responded, gesturing towards an old shack.
The shack was abandoned, falling apart. The door was holding on by only a hinge and the roof sagged inwards, the entire building collecting a layer of moss and as Emil reached to open the door, it squeaked open, barely. The inside was cool and damp and light shined through cracks in the roof and wall. Shelves that once looked to contain something were now falling off. Emil turned to Leon as he stared about the shack. "It's not much, and it's falling apart, but it's my special place," he explained, taking a seat on the floor in spot where the moss had appeared to be cleaned off. "And now it's our special place, Leon."
Leon sat down next to Emil and leaned up against the wall behind him. "You know, Emil," he began. "I was thinking we should go out for dinner some day."
Emil looked at him, his face a bright red color. "Like a date?"
"Yep."
"Well then… we're both free tonight, so…"
"Sure, let's go tonight."
The date was nothing formal. Neither of them got dressed up, simply wearing the clothes they wore that day, except for Leon, who insisted that he had to gel up his hair before they went. They went to one of Emil's favorite cafes, just a few blocks down from his house.
After they ordered and ate their food, they chatted. They talked about their family (having a few arguments over who had it worse), which video games they'd beat, and other things like that. It was like one of their chats online with each other, except this time it was in person, both of them more alive and real. It was great.
"Emil, I have something for you," Leon said at the end of the date as they were getting ready to go.
"Sure, what is it?"
Leon sighed. He could do this, before his time ran out. "Close your eyes."
Emil closed his eyes. "Ok?"
"Now tilt your head up a little bit."
He did this too."Yeah…"
Leon places his hands in Emil's. "What are you doing, Leon? I don't understand how you'll give it to me if you have my hands," rambled Emil.
But, Emil's confusion was cut off by the soft press of Leon's lips on his own.
A/N - Hey, this week's update is earlier than usual. That's pretty cool. Yeah, Leon's secret is revealed next chapter btw.
