Yay! Already finished with this chapter! A little gift for you guys this Christmas! Merry Christmas!
What happened on the last chapter...
"We'll see about that, Lady Reporter."
I cannot wait to see the boldness of her face as I break through it!
And so it begins...
Ciel's POV
After that noisy morning meal, I proceeded to my study again with Sebastian following behind.
Sitting by my chair, Sebastian handed me the usual arrival: Mails, investigations and invitations.
"Nothing new as usual, Sebastian?" I picked up one of the arrivals and scanned through everything. Sebastian got one and read through it.
"This one seems to be sent from the Queen. Another mission I presume." He skimmed through the letter. Another one from the Queen? She really makes me busy.. But with the Phantomhives' known history of serving the Queen as I would think I have a family of my own, my children shall take over my position and become the 'Queen's Watchdog.'
I sighed and looked at Sebastian in a emotionless manner. "Read it out." I commanded him as he smiled at me.
"Of course, Young Master, it is said a man has been loosed and is currently kidnapping children and proceeds to kill them at dusk or so says the Queen." With a swirl of my hand, I rejected it. The police should take care of such easy crime.
"Young Master, you seem to likely play 'games' with the Lady." Sebastian let out a chuckle. I rested my chin on the palm of my hand and looked at him with bored eyes.
"Shut your trap, Sebastian. I want to see if she will be that Damsel in Distress, a lady that would need help in times of need." I once again looked through the papers that shall get my interest but none.
Sebastian only smirked something that came across his mind. "Why is that, Young Master?"
I looked at him into his red eyes. "It is part of this challenge."
Your POV
I roamed the manor in hopes of finding new interesting things about the brat. Surely, this could help finish this task faster. Upon going below to the Quarter's back, I saw the household standing by. I could listen about their conversation in this...! I carefully leaned my head on the wooden door by the peeped hole that light shone and could hear their chatters.
"Hey, have you met the Lady yet? The Young Master said that she is our guest of honor!" The boy with a straw hat so called 'Finny' said.
"Strange that the Young Master invited her into the Manor," Bardroy got his stick out from his mouth. "She seems to be the 'not-trusting-what-you-say type of lady. The way her attitude on her arrival here gives off." Bardroy had a doubt tone in his voice. Mey-Rin clasped her hands together.
"But she's a lovely one! Maybe once Lady _ opens up, she could help us!" Mey-Rin joyfully said. Help? Help them? What do she meant by that? Is there is something to matter with the household?
"But note that the Young Master doesn't usually invite guests only on special occasions and such. Lady _ must be different." I was flattered by Bardroy's statement but the Earl did not explain to them the events.. Behind that blue eye of his, lies a secret so dark and impure perhaps?
I eavesdropped once and for all. But the time I peeped again, Tanaka was blocking the view.
"Hohoho~!" I backed off in fear. I sweat-dropped and ran quickly and quietly. Looking back, the household came out of the room, looking for the snooper that Tanaka noticed. Such a terrifying old butler...
I was walking along the light-filled corridor until my eyes caught on a painting of the Earl. I examined the picture carefully but sadly the two adult had shadows over their eyes as the pillar above it covers. But a young child that had similar blue eyes as the brat was even stranger. I was about to come close until...
"What are you doing here?" I glanced over at the child that appeared as the Earl. Great, another argument with him again I presume? I wanted to make way until he stopped me.
"Are you really THAT curious of me?" I turned away from him as he glanced to me.
"I can help you. I can give you all my information for one deal, how about it?" I didn't reply instead...
"Like hell, in your dreams, Earl!" I made face and ran off. Drop being a ladylike when I'm around him! He doesn't deserve my beauty!
"I'd rather make myself tire from countless rests in investigating than coping with your pesky bratty attitude!" And I ran off completely away from his sight.
Ciel's POV
"_! _!" I sighed and crossed my arms.
"Buffoon old lady!" What on earth was that?! What a rude response she gave off of me! She really does not want to lose to me, eh? *chuckle* I see! I walked away, smirking.
Your POV
Evening came. Everything in the manor was covered in darkness and silence. I wandered once again this time by the creepy corridors in my night gown. Everything present here is terrifying the fact that only the candles and my oil lamp lit the corridors. I searched for the painting again to examine it once more. As a reporter, I can make conclusions about what I see in the paintings.
'Where is it?!' I walked for a few minutes until I found it. I wanted to know those two adults along with a child. I was about to lift my oil lamp as...
"Lady _, what a surprise to see you awake in this night." A voice said beside me. I yelped in fear and fell onto the ground. I looked up to see Sebastian, snickering.
"Sebastian! What are YOU doing here in this night?" I retorted his question back to him.
"I was only letting the Young Master into his bed after some dreadful work," he held his gloved hand in front of me. "Presumably, I don't suppose you'd also want me to rock-a-bye you to sleep, don't you, Lady _?" I hesitantly took his hand as he helped me get back on my balance.
I scoffed at his statement. What is this? Like Master, like Butler? These two are a pain.. I've had enough of dealing with them both... I dust off my night gown as he smirked. He glances at the painting which I was about to look at.
"Ah, I now see. You were probably searching for clues about Young Master, hm~?" My eyes widen in surprise. I glanced back at the painting.
"Sebastian, you truly are mysterious," My eyes glanced onto his red ones. "You serve the Earl well despite of his annoying crude attitude. How do you keep up with him?" I heard him chuckle and looked at me back. He came closer to my face as I felt I was heating up.
"Simply, I am One Hell of a Butler." Sebastian stated with a husky voice. I sweat dropped at the closeness of our faces. What on earth is going on?!
Ciel's POV
"Achooo!" I sneezed and ran my finger across my nose. I shifted my position to look up at the ceiling. I had troubles sleeping tonight. The memory of how _ and my interactions were close enough... How we hit our foreheads together and how she looked back at me when she ran.. I felt something I couldn't explain... Especially the-
"You shouldn't fall for my tricks if you do not wish to lose to me!" Our eyes met and came closer to each other until our foreheads hit.
I felt my face heat up from the memory but I shrugged it off and went to the other side. But...
"Why can't I still sleep?!"
Meanwhile...
"Tell me, why did you choose _ for this job, hmmm?"
Settling down the papers, he adjusted his glasses. "This girl is the only one suitable for the job."
"Why is that?"
"...You soon shall know."
