So, what does the Rider and Jack plan to do about the Vashta Narada? Why don't we find out?
And this chapter will have a guest appearance! Hold on to your seats!
Love always,
Avoline
"So you refuse to do anything?"
The Rider sighed as Jack debated with the village elders. They had made accommodations for the pair and Rogue, but had not budge on spraying the chemical mixture on the rest of the trees in the forest. The brunette had been arguing with them for at least an hour with no solution found. The elders refused to contemplate the idea of expanding their hunting grounds and helping the other villages.
He was starting to think it was hopeless.
"The other villages are not our responsibility," one of the elders responded.
"That's a poor excuse," a voice called. Rider whipped around to see the Doctor walk in, with Rose just behind him. "Hello, Rider."
"Nice to see you here, Dad," Rider answered. "Mum, what are you doing here?" She smiled and wrapped him in a hug.
"Your grandmum is watching Azalea and the twins, so your dad and I decided to travel again," she answered. "Are these elders givin' ya any toruble?"
"Loads of it," Jack groaned.
"The other villages are not our responsibility," the elder repeated.
"You are the only ones who have anything that can keep the Vashta Narada at bay," Jack nearly shouted.
"Vashta Narada," the Doctor inquired. "Last time I saw them was in the Library. What are they doing here?" One of the elders chuckled.
"This planet is called Library," he informed. The three men exchanged glances.
"So there's nothing we can do," Rider murmured. "Fixed point, right?" The Doctor nodded.
"If they won't budge, all we can do is leave," Doctor stated.
"Or we can dump what's left of their supply," Jack suggested.
"And leave Tsen to die," Rider hissed. "After he has debated on our side, what kind of thanks would that be?"
"Give him a choice," the Doctor offered. "He can come with you, or he can stay here. No dumping the supply, Jack. All we can do is leave." The Rider's brown eyes flicked over to Tsen.
He didn't stand a chance.
"About three more feet, then run for it," Rider muttered as they rode towards the TARDISs.
"Stay out of the shadows, and count the shadows," the Doctor instructed. They each kept an eye out, counting the shadows. The three horses were antsy, picking up on the four nervous energies.
"Go," Jack shouted, and the horses broke out in a dead run. Rider's eyes scanned for his TARDIS. All they had to do was get in there, and fly the hell out. There was very little he could do here, so he was riding his way out.
"Three shadows, one tree, to the left," Jack announced. The blond pulled the reigns to the right, Rogue darting around the three duplicate shadows. They weren't far from the TARDIS. Rider could see the green shed, a blue police box next to it.
He leapt from the equine's back, Jack not far behind him. Rider tugged at the reigns while his lover opened the TARDIS doors.
"Come on, Rogue," he instructed, only two steps from the door. "We're nearly there."
He heard a noise, and the reigns went slack in his hands. He turned around...
Only to see a skeleton on the ground.
