A/N: Greetings everyone! So, I know this is late, but I was very busy this week, and the week before that. So, sorry! This is mostly a filler chapter, mostly focused on Jazz. Bereft comes after this, and then comes another episode which I wrote personally, so that will branch away from the series a little bit. Alice isn't gone forever, just going through some...Things. Thanks for all of those who Reviewed/Favorited/Followed! This story is in two communities now! Kind of have no idea what that really means. So, as I said before, kind of a dull chapter, but the action packed episode comes next time!

Downtime:

Danny walked into Vlad's classroom after school with a glare on his face. "I really don't want to do this," he mumbled under his breath as he looked at his arch enemy, who was sitting casually at his desk with a smirk on his face. As soon as the young teen had entered the room, he turned to him with mock surprise.

"Ah, Daniel! How wonderful of you to show up!" He yelled as he was about to stand up, when Danny put a hand up that stated for him to 'stop'.

"Don't bother getting up. I'll just take a seat," Danny said with a scowl.

Vlad watched with amusement as Danny trudged to his seat and slumped his bag down by the chair before ultimately sitting down at the desk. He sighed as he leaned his head back, trying to imagine a place that was better than the one he was in. It didn't help when Vlad suddenly spoke up, though.

"How was your day, Daniel?" Vlad asked causally, and Danny cringed in response.

He opened his eyes as he looked up at the man who had a cold look on his face, "Why do you care?"

Vlad chuckled, "I always care about your life, little badger. After all, that's what families do, don't they?" He asked with a smirk.

"Not this topic again," Danny grumbled as he sighed. He had a feeling of dread rising in his stomach and he tried to push it down.

Suddenly the door was pushed open, and Wally appeared at the door, "Whoa, sorry I'm late, Mr. M!" Wally yelled with a grin on his face as he paraded to an empty seat. "I am just always the last one to show up to everything!" Wally yelled again as he sat down in the seat across from Danny.

"Thanks man. Don't know what I would have done if you didn't show up," Danny stated with a relieved sigh.

"You owe me. I missed a mission for this," Wally mumbled with a glare at his friend.

Danny scoffed, "And you think I didn't?"

Wally rolled his eyes before sitting more relaxed in his seat, "So how did the party go last night?" He asked with a cheeky grin.

Danny sat up straighter and glared at the young speedster, "As if you didn't know. Dick probably already told you."

"He did. Just wanted to hear it from you," Wally said with a smirk.

"Well," Danny said with a sigh, "It was going great. I saw my friend Sam, and we were busy catching up…" Danny trailed and tried to not cringe at the events that had transpired. "Ellie decided to get in the middle of us, and Sam started to…Everything turned into a mess," Danny finally concluded.

Wally chuckled, "Heard that Bruce was pretty upset. Did you get grounded?"

"Luckily no. I wasn't the only one that got in trouble…" Danny trailed and then grew a smirk on his face, "Did Dick tell you that he got in trouble for eating five sandwiches from the snack table?"

Wally snorted, "And he says that I eat too much!"

"You do," Danny said dryly as he rolled his eyes, "Why do you think you aren't invited to parties in general?"

Wally suddenly stood up, "It's a serious metabolism!" He yelled defensively as he glared at his friend.

"Mr. West!" Vlad yelled from the front of the classroom. "Is there going to be a problem with you being in detention?" He asked in irritation since he couldn't verbally abuse Danny this time. "I could send you to Mr. Gonzales' room next door…" He trailed with a smirk on his face.

Danny looked fearfully at his friend, "Don't leave me here with him!" He whispered, pleadingly.

Wally glanced at his friend and then at Vlad before giving an apologetic smile, "Er, no problem, Mr. Masters!" He yelled in a small voice. He sat back down and grumbled at being yelled at. "This is my first detention, you know…" He trailed as he glared at Danny.

The young halfa scoffed, "Yeah, this year. Last year you got twenty five detentions…"

"Most of those were tardies!" Wally protested as he crossed his arms.

"Two of them weren't, Mr. Prankster. I would know, you decided to play a prank on the chess club…Thanks by the way. How would you feel about having to explain that your best friend ruined the entire practice game by moving the chess pieces 'invisibly'?" Danny asked as he glared.

Wally chuckled, "Yeah…Bet you thought that you were doing it?" Wally asked with a smirk.

"I thought I was…" Danny trailed but then returned a smirk of his own.

Their communicators went off with a red flash, and they had both looked down to where they were. Danny glanced up at Vlad who had a smirk on his face. "I do hope that wasn't important…" Vlad stated as he shrugged. "After all, you have two hours of detention."

"Thanks for reminding me, froot loop," Danny scowled under his breath, but received a sudden shock through his body. Wally narrowed his eyes in confusion as he looked at his friend.

"Why did you just flinch?" Wally asked as he raised an eyebrow. "It looked like electricity went through you."

Danny glanced at his friend, but kept his enemy in his peripheral vision. "Guess I'm shocked at being here," he replied in a pun as he refrained from showing off his green 'scary eyes' at Vlad.

"Are you sure you should see her?" Johnny thirteen asked as he glanced worrily at Jazz.

The girl had a determined look on her face as she did a slight nod. "If I don't face Harley now…" She trailed her voice, making it seem as if she had lost her confidence to go on, but in reality she had more resolve than yesterday.

"We'll be here, Jazz," Kitty said with a warm friendly smile as she placed a hand on her shoulder in encouragement.

Jazz nodded as she pulled open the door, and she was led to Harley's cell that she was in. This was the girl's first time in the actual prison part of the Asylum. It had brick walls and had a damp atmosphere to the hallway. As she walked, she saw the various cells that kept the prisoners. She heard a loud thump as somebody slammed their hands against the bars, hoping to scare the girl. However, she didn't stop her stride as she spared the man a glance from the corner of her eyes.

"You like to scare people?" Kitty asked with a sly smile as she approached the cell. Her ghostly figure made the man in the cell to take a step back in surprise. "I can scare you-!"

Johnny grabbed his girlfriend's hand as he led her away from the cell with a sigh, "Not here, babe. We're here to back up Jazz, remember?"

Kitty gave a sheepish grin, "I forgot!" She yelled in her defense.

As Jazz passed by the Joker's cell, she caught a slight bit of hysterical laughter. She paused as she peered in and noticed the green haired, white faced man. "Ah! The little flower!" Joker yelled as he sat up from his firm bed as he lazily walked up to the bars. "Seems like the wind drew you right towards me!" He yelled as he had a smile that went from ear to ear as he started to laugh again.

"Why?" Jazz asked as she narrowed her eyes slightly at the villain. It was an open question, and she had felt as if she didn't need to direct it. She walked a little closer, but stopped a few feet away from the bars. "Harley was perfectly sane before she started to talk to you…"

The Joker sat cross legged on the ground and just smiled up at the girl, "You say these things in the light…" He stated as he then cocked his head to the side, "Why don't you come into the dark and say those things? Where the flowers can't bloom, and the insane are born!" He yelled as he made a taunting motion with his right hand to make Jazz come closer to him.

Jazz made no emotion on her face at the man as she continued to stare at him, "What were you telling Harley?" She asked, this time in a more authorative voice.

The Joker cackled within his cell, "She wanted a friend…So I gave her one!" He yelled, his eyes going wide with the excitement that was running though him. He suddenly stood up, surprising Jazz, though she didn't outwardly show it. "And such good friends we are, little flower!"

Kitty scowled as she appeared next to Jazz with her arms crossed, "What a psycho," she stated as she rolled her eyes.

Johnny appeared on the other side of Jazz with a grin on his face, "I'd say he has a few screws loose…" He trailed, finding the scene amusing, but when he caught Kitty glaring at him, he immediately wiped the grin off his face as he crossed his arms and looked down the hall, "But totally crazy."

"Normal is soooo overrated!" Joker replied back with a grin as he looked into Jazz's blue eyes. She could see the insanity running through his eyes, but she then turned on her heel and went further down the hallway. "You'll be back, little flower! YOU CAN'T STAY IN THE LIGHT FOREVER!" Joker yelled as she could hear his laughter bounce off the brick walls in a playful fashion.

Jazz narrowed her eyes in front of her as she shook her head, trying to get rid of the emotions of fear and anxiety that were rising in her. "I'm not going to turn out like her…" She mumbled as she clenched her fists as they were by her side.

"Jazz?" Kitty asked in worry as she hovered by her in the air. "I don't know exactly what that lunatic was talking about…But you're one of the strongest people I know." Kitty said, which surprised her as she quickly looked at her ghost friend.

"W-What do you mean?" Jazz asked with wide, surprised eyes.

Kitty looked down at the ground sorrowfully, "When your parents…You're strong. You were stronger than me…I had the same thing happen to me. I decided to run, not wanting to face my problems…" Kitty trailed as she looked over at Johnny who had his arms crossed and had furrowed brows. "I brought my boyfriend into my problems, and that caused us to be dead." Kitty finished as she landed on the floor.

"Kitty, I didn't know…" Jazz said as she suddenly wrapped her arms around the fragile girl. "All this time…" Jazz paused, gathering her thoughts, "You're strong too," Jazz concluded as she pulled away from Kitty and looked her in the eyes, a small smile forming on her face.

"I admire you, Jazz. I really do," Kitty said with a smile as she felt a tear run down her face. She was about to wipe it away when she found her boyfriend's hand on hers. She looked up and looked at his face with a small smile.

Johnny grinned as he pulled his girlfriend closer to him, "This only brought us closer together…All of us," Johnny said as he glanced at his girlfriend before looking at Jazz.

Jazz let out a small chuckle, "I have some pretty great friends…I'm just mad at myself for not realizing how great the two of you really are," she said as she grinned.

"Jazz!" Kitty yelled happily as she hugged her, "I never thought that I'd ever want to be friends with you!" Kitty yelled as she pulled away. "No offense!" She yelled as she put her ghostly hands up in defense.

"None taken," Jazz said cockily as she looked down the hallway.

Johnny noticed the distant look in her eyes and rose an eyebrow, "Are you sure you want to meet her? I mean, she was your friend wasn't she?"

Jazz closed her eyes before opening them again, "She still is. I think I can still save her," Jazz said with a quick nod as she walked further down the hallway, her two new friends following after her in a protective form.

Ellie sighed as she looked around the mansion. She lost sight of Alfred and didn't know what to do with herself. She glanced at her laptop, where her and Danny would play Doomed! but then sighed again. "Not like I can play that without him. He would be so mad!" She pouted as she heard a loud door slam. "Someone's home!" She yelled with excitement as she turned intangible and flew herself down to the entrance of the mansion.

She saw Dick walk in with his street clothes on. He looked, for lack of words, steamed. She made herself visible as she flew down to her brother, as she opened her mouth to say a word of greeting, only to be ignored as he stomped angrily past her. "Dick!" She yelled in protest at being ignored, but he didn't seem to hear her. "Are you ignoring me!" She yelled childishly as she clenched her fists in anger.

"Ah, Master Danielle. I thought I heard you down here…" Alfred trailed as he walked down the steps, as he had a small smile on his face. "Though I have no idea how you could be so loud."

"Sorry Alfred…" Ellie apologized as she looked up at the butler, who was walking towards her, "Did something happen to Mr. Tight Pants?" She asked as she jabbed her thumb angrily in the air at the direction that her brother had just left in.

Alfred rose an eyebrow and peered down the hallway, not finding anyone there, "Master Richard has arrived home?" He asked, intrigued that someone had come in without him knowing. "Hmm, so that's what that loud thud was…" He mused as he walked past Ellie as well, ignoring her as he left to go down the hallway.

"Alfred?" She asked as she saw him walk away from her. "What is with today?" She grumbled as she followed after the two of them down the hallway. She lost sight of Alfred, but found a large gym with two double doors to go through. She opened them and found Dick to be putting on sweat wrist bands on his wrists. He looked up in surprise.

"Dani?" He asked, but was stopped when she put her hand up and shook her head slowly.

"I decided on calling myself Ellie…Dani with an 'I'…Well…" She trailed as she gave a slight shrug. She then eyed the equipment, "What are you doing in here?"

Dick grinned sheepishly, "Hoping to let off some steam…" He trailed, but then he had a distant look on his face as his eyes narrowed. He then looked over at the aerobic equipment and got started to work on it. He grabbed the two rings with his hands and started to do gymnastics in the air.

"You're really good at that…" Ellie said and then Dick took a glance at her. She wasn't sure if the red on his face was from the blood rushing to his head, or if he was blushing. "You must have practiced for a long time."

"Practically born into it!" He yelled proudly as he flipped and landed on the ground flawlessly. He put his hands up in the air as he landed, as if doing a small gymnastic show.

Ellie humored him by clapping softly as she grinned. She then stopped when she noticed the down casted look on her brother's face. "What's wrong?" She asked, making him surprised as he quickly looked up at her.

"Nothing's wrong! I'm whelmed!" He yelled with false confidence, but after a while of Ellie staring at him with concern did he finally let down his mental defenses. "Okay…I'm not whelmed…" He said grimly as he sat down on the bench.

Ellie glanced at the bench before she also decided to sit on it, beside him. "Does it have something to do with the Team?" She asked with the slight tilt of her head in curiosity.

"It's just…" He started out before averting his gaze to the ground, "Bruce spends all his time with the Team…He hardly ever speaks to me anymore!" He yelled as he stood up, furious. He strode over to the gym equipment again and jumped up to grab the rings again. "When he does, it's never to see how I'm doing. He just has the same grim expression on his face. I can't even remember the last time we even hung out!" He yelled as he kept flinging in the air, angrily.

Ellie gasped as she stood up, "Dick, you might fall!" She yelled in concern as she moved to where the gym equipment, where sweat was pouring down his face and was seeming to make his hands slippery and not adhesive to the gym equipment.

"Just Aqualad!" He yelled with scorn as he flipped off the rings and landed on the weights behind him, though he had misplaced a step and flung his arms furiously in the air, trying to regain his balance.

"Dick!" Ellie yelled as she was ready to catch him, only for him to flip backwards onto the ground multiple times to try and catch himself before his back came against the wall. In anger he punched the wall, causing a large crater as he drew his arm back. He was panting for a few breaths before he calmed himself down.

Alfred came walking in with a grim expression on his face, "Master Bruce wishes to see you," the butler stated as he then headed out the door.

Dick frowned as he grabbed the towel and water bottle from the bench and walked after the butler, "Probably to tell me what I did wrong on the mission…" He scoffed as he followed the butler.

Ellie blinked before she felt a familiar feeling in her chest and she smiled in excitement as she hovered in the air, "Danny's home!" She yelled as she turned intangible and flew as fast as she could to greet her brother.

Sam walked out of the hotel that her family was staying at in Gotham. She held out her palm and a small green vine started to materialize. Though it was covered with a ghastly green glow. "I can't believe that I found Danny!" She yelled happily to herself as she felt a blush come to her cheeks. The vine in her hand started to form into a heart shape, though she hadn't known it.

"Well, well, looks like someone else can control plants…" Came Poison Ivy's voice that was down an alley way that Sam had passed.

Sam gasped as she fisted her hand and the vine traveled down her arm and formed into a light green sword. "Who are you?" She asked with a glare.

"Interesting what you do with your plants…Though you need to properly nurture them. Like a mother would," Ivy stated as she walked closer, revealing herself as she stepped into the light.

"I know you…You're Poison Ivy…" Sam accused as she fisted the sword in her hands tightly. "What do you want?" She asked in a threatening voice.

Ivy let out a mock hurt expression, "Why, I think you of all people should know…We are so much alike, you and I…We can learn much from each other," Ivy started to lecture as she walked around the girl, making her feel defenseless.

Sam smirked, "There's a big difference between us, Ivy," Sam stated as she let go of the sword, making the vines disappear. She was gathering power and focusing it on the dead plant life that was growing along the city walls.

"What's that, dear?" Ivy asked incredulously, "That I'm a villain?"

In a sudden second, Ivy was hanging upside down with a vine holding her by the foot as she dangled. "I was going along the lines of that my plants are dead and only listen to me…But that works too," Sam said sarcastically as her eyes lit up a faint green color, only for the vines to tighten their hold on Ivy's foot. She screamed out in discomfort.

"I offered to teach you and this is the thanks I get!" She yelled out in a scowl as she tried to control the vines, though true to Sam's word, they wouldn't listen to her. "You wretched child!"

"Thanks for the compliment," Sam said coldly as she began to walk away. "You should think twice before you approach me again, Ivy."

Jazz walked over to Harley's cell, and the woman started to chuckle as she brought her head against the wall that the bed was up against. "You here to tell me so?" She asked as she closed her eyes. "I won't listen. If I had the chance, I'd do it again."

"He's using you-

"He likes me!" Harley yelled, cutting off Jazz from speaking. Jazz visibly flinched at being snapped at. "He's my first friend, I've never had any friends! You wouldn't know what that's like, flower!"

Jazz looked down at the ground, "You don't know my history, Harley. I know what's it's like to not have friends. I know what it's like to be judged for who you are and who your family is," she said as she peered into Harley's cell. "You can start all over, you don't have to be who the Joker wants you to be."

"I wanna be this way!" Harley snapped back, not seeming to listen to Jazz in the slightest. "I used to be like you…" Harley trailed, "Smart, intelligent, and for what? For them to laugh at me!"

Jazz shook her head, "No one is laughing at you, Harley. I want to be your friend. Will you let me?" Jazz asked in a professional tone.

Harley looked at Jazz with a sincere expression, "Y-You want to me my friend?" She asked as she stood up from her bed and walked closer to the bars. She looked at Jazz and then at the two ghosts behind her. "You're a liar! I know what you're doing! I used to be a psychologist, remember?" Harley accused.

Jazz put her hands up in defense, "I'm just trying to be your friend, Harley. This isn't-

"You don't get to tell me who I was!" Harley yelled as her hands found their way to the top of her head, pulling on her blonde hair harshly, "This is who I am! This is who I'll stay!"

"Harley-

"You think you can be saved!" Harley yelled as she stared up at the ceiling before bringing her gaze to the girl in a slow manner, much like the movements of a doll. "Oh, little flower, Gotham has great plans for you! You'll be just like me!"

Jazz remained silent for a few seconds, "I'll bring you back to reality, Harley," Jazz promised as she looked at the girl in the cell with a sympathetic look.

Harley cackled as she grabbed the bars and peered into her eyes, "Flowers don't survive in the darkness, you know?" She asked rhetorically as she had a sly smile on her face. "PUDDIN!" She yelled as she cupped her hand around her mouth.

"Harley?!" Joker asked from down the hallway, though amusement was evident in his tone.

"Let's rip the petals from the flower slowly!" She yelled as she started to laugh, and then the Joker joined in her laughter, making the rest of the inmates cover their ears.

"Shut the hell up, clown prince! Please shut up!" Two Face yelled from a few cells away.

Jazz started to walk away, though her body was shaking. She felt as if she wanted to empty the contents of her stomach from the threats that Harley had spoken to her. Kitty grabbed her arm gently. "I'll phase us out of here…" She said as she turned the two of them intangible and took to the skies.

Danny walked through the doors of the mansion and was immediately embraced by Ellie. "Whoa!" Danny yelled out and then grinned down at his sister, "I just got back from detention, Danielle."

"You shouldn't have even had that detention!" Ellie argued with a glare. "You want me to beat him up?" She asked as she cracked her knuckles.

Danny cringed at the sight of Vlad even touching Ellie at all, "Uh, just leave him to me, Ellie," Danny said sheepishly.

Ellie nodded in understanding, "Can we play doomed! now?" She pleaded as she looked up at him with her sad 'puppy dog' eyes.

"I wish I could, but Vlad is planning a pop test tomorrow and I-!" Danny started to argue, though the look on Ellie's face and him not wanting to study had beat his school morals out of him. "Okay…One game," he promised with a devious grin on his face as he hovered in the air and raced to his room, though Ellie was right behind him with a wide grin on her face.

"Danny!" Jazz's voice yelled from downstairs, making both half ghosts pause in their flight as they peered down at their older sister. "You better be studying! You don't need another detention for failing a test!" She reminded him.

"No problem, Jazz! I promised Ellie just one game!" Danny yelled back down, though he turned to Ellie with crossed fingers, though Jazz couldn't see it.

Jazz sighed before releasing a small smile on her face. "Looks like he'll be having detention tomorrow…" She trailed as she rolled her eyes, making her way to the kitchen, where Alfred was baking cookies. "Good evening, Alfred," Jazz greeted as she leaned against the kitchen counter and peered out the window to see Bruce and Dick play basketball one on one. She chuckled.

"Good evening Master Jazz," Alfred said as he handed her a cup of coffee. She accepted it as they peered out the window, watching each basketball player enjoy themselves as they each had wide smiles on their faces. "Do you think that Master Danny will have detention again tomorrow?" Alfred asked with a sly smile as he lifted up the tea cup to his mouth before taking a small sip of the hot beverage.

Jazz smiled, "You know how Danny is…" She trailed but then narrowed her eyes, "But I do think it's weird that he keeps getting them…And for silly things…" She said suspiciously as she placed her cup on the counter. "Who did he sat that his teacher was?"

Alfred gave a slight shrug, "I haven't the faintest idea," he said with suspicion in his voice as well. "Now that you mention it, Master Danny has never talked about school…"

Bruce and Dick came walking in, sweat pouring off them. "Jazz, Alfred," Bruce greeted as he wiped his sweaty hair away from his face. He then stopped to look at them, "Did I miss something?" He asked as his mouth formed a thin line.

"Hmm, nothing to concern yourself, Master Bruce. Shall I draw a bath for you?" Alfred asked as he began to walk out of the kitchen. He didn't stay around to hear the older man's reply as he already started up the stairs to fulfil his request.

Bruce rose an eyebrow, "What's going on?" He asked as he looked at Jazz.

"Danny…He seems to be getting detentions a lot this year," Jazz mused out loud as she placed a hand on the bottom of her chin in thought. "Last year he hardly got any…Except for one that Wally caused with the chess club…"

"You think there's something suspicious about his teacher?" Bruce asked with a small grin. "I'll look it up tonight, don't worry, Jazz," he said as he placed a hand on her shoulder. An alarm went off in his pocket and he took it. "Tomorrow. There's movement going on in the Bialya desert. Dick get ready for a mission, and get Danny also." Bruce ordered as he started to head up to his room to get ready for the debriefing.

Jazz crossed her arms as she was left alone in the kitchen. "Super heroes!" She yelled exasperated as she rolled her eyes before walking to her own room. "Be careful…" She mumbled as she closed her door, even though no one could hear it.

Reviews:

Readthishit: Well, Slade might try to get to Robin, but I don't think he's actually going to get his apprentice. Dani and Sam are probably going to get along…Probably. Tucker is going to come later on, as well as Valerie. Just don't know when they're going to show up.

GreenDrkness: I kind of always wanted Sam to keep her powers, too. Alice will show up a few episodes later. She's going through some issues.

Breyannia: Haha, I was kind of creeped out a little, to be honest. But yup, Slade is Deathstroke. Danny is eventually going to be very fed up with Vlad and his stupid detentions.

KodiakWolfe13: I don't even like Dani that much. I kind of always thought she was a Mary Sue that they threw into the show. I'm going to change her so that she's her own person, though. Just with a brother complex I guess. Aw, store bought pot pies…It just isn't the same. Thanks! I did pretty well on mid-terms.

jim89: Well, the initial part with Alice was a bit rushed, I'll admit that. But, she was never a replacement for Sam. Danny always gets Sam. Alice will be coming back, just later. She has her own problems that she needs to deal with for the time being. Haha, I'm glad that you liked that scene. I liked writing it out. Bruce and Vlad will be having a showdown of sorts, very soon.

Jebest4781: Well, Sam and Ivy had an encounter this chapter. Though there will be more fights between them in the future, and Sam will most definitely be in the Injustice League episode facing against Poison Ivy.

A/N: So a little bit of Sam, a whole lot of Jazz. I'm not sure if I want to make Dick and Ellie a couple or not, or if Dick should just stick with Zatanna when she comes into the story. Also, I don't know how to spell 'froot loop'. If it is 'fruit loop,' but whatever I guess. Have a nice November guys! See you in December!
