Clint Barton was sitting inside the briefing room of an aircraft carrier that was stationed just off the coast of Japan. The briefing room was pretty standard with a mostly steel interior with a Shield issue hologram computer table in the center. He was playing Candy Crush on his cell phone when the door to the room opened and Natasha Romanoff came in. "Tasha, how was L.A?"
Natasha sighed "It was fine despite being locked in a vent shaft for a couple of hours" she said thinking back to Stark's computer locking her in a vent shaft when she tried to sneak into his house. "But I did take down a bunch of Ten Rings members" she finished taking a seat.
"Very nice" said Barton putting his phone down "Good to have the band back together, between Stark and New Mexico I feel like it's been forever since we've worked a mission together."
"Yeah, Coulson said this mission was going to get green so I assume we are back on the Hulk chase" she said waiting for Fury to join them.
"Most likely hopefully this goes better than last time" said Barton remembering having to chase the green monster through New York and Canada before being pulled to help Coulson out in New Mexico with Thor. The beast was smarter than it looked as it expertly avoided them and Banner was no slouch thanks to his incredible intelligence. Romanoff had stayed with him a little longer but then she was called off to handle Tony Stark and his Iron Man suit.
The door opened and Nick Fury walked in immediately booting up the hologram table that Barton and Romanoff were sitting at. He had just came from meeting with Tony Stark about the Avengers Initiative and to say that Stark was interested was an understatement, but now with the Security Council pushing for Banner's capture more than ever the program was back on the back burner. "Listen up the Security Council has given General Ross complete control of the hunt of the Hulk" informed Fury noting that both Barton and Romanoff groaned with annoyance. Ross and Shield had often stepped on each other's toes when it came to hunting the Hulk. "He now has access to the Shield database and has a blank check to bring Hulk in" explained Fury handing files over to the two agents "We are going to keep Ross from catching the Hulk until the Security Council decides to relieve him of command." Barton and Romanoff opened up the folders that Fury had given them. "Our intel puts Banner somewhere near Sendai, Japan this is only a guess since it's based on projections of the Hulks movement speed and the direction he was traveling."
"How long before Ross knows this?" asked Clint flipping through the folder.
"He already does but he is gathering a team of the best soldiers he can get his hands on to go after the Hulk" explained Fury. "Based on maps of the area his best avenue for escape is the Sendai Harbor where he can board a boat and head off where ever he wants to."
"Do you want us to bring him in?" asked Natasha.
"No, we bring him in and Ross will take him and lock him away forever. Banner is too important to risk him being put away. You two are going to monitor him and disrupt Ross if necessary to keep Banner free" explained Fury "Any other questions?" Neither agent said anything "Good, we are dropping you just outside Sendai."
Ross watched from his C-130 transport as it landed at a base in England where he was going to be meeting his chosen leader for his squad of soldiers. He walked off the ramp after landing the plane, he was met by the commander who he quickly walked by "I need to speak with Emil Blonsky" he said walking into the main building. The base had been told that Ross was coming and that he was to be given whatever he needed no matter what it was.
The commander got on his radio "Tell Blonsky to report to the main base and to make it snappy" he bellowed into the radio.
Emil Blonsky was one of the best soldiers the world had ever known even if he was past his prime. He had a stellar service record with only two failed missions both of which were not actually his fault. He was an average sized man with brownish blonde hair with light tan on his white skin, he entered the building wearing his fatigues since he had come from the training grounds. He was directed to the main briefing room, which was a large room with rows of chairs and a large area in the front where a projector screen was placed. Blonsky scanned the room and saw Ross sitting at the front, Blonsky could tell he was American based on his uniform which piqued his interest since Americans had never came to him directly before. "Captain Blonsky" said Ross holding his hand out for Blonsky to shake it.
Blonsky shook his hand "Sir" he replied with a questioning eyes.
Ross smiled "A soldier of your caliber is probably wondering why you have been called in by a general from another country."
"Yes sir, I am" said Blonsky keeping his eyes on Ross.
"I have been given orders to bring in an international fugitive and I want you to lead a squad of the best soldiers that the world has to offer" informed Ross.
"If you don't mind me asking sir but what fugitive are we talking about here? This guy must be pretty bad if you're calling in an all-star team to bring him down" asked Blonsky wondering if he had heard about this fugitive.
"Let me ask you this, do you enjoy spending all of your days on this base pretending to still be honing your skills or training up young recruits" Blonsky turned to look him in the eyes "Or would you rather have the challenge of your life? A hunt that will put you in the history books as the greatest soldier of all time?"
It was like Ross had read his mind, Blonsky had been seeking some kind of challenge for years and now was his chance if this fugitive required an all-star squad than Blonsky would be the leader who brought him in "Where do I sign up?"
