Blonsky didn't need to be told about Talbot spotting Banner he was in the next room and could hear Ross on the phone talking to him. He was already suiting up when Ross came to tell him, Ross moved to give him orders but stopped when he looked into Blonsky's eyes. Blonsky saw that Ross was still on the phone with Talbot and was getting impatient, "Where are they? I'll take care of this right now" he said prompting Ross to hold up a hand to calm him down.
Talbot was tailing Banner and watching closely as Betty and he rode behind Sterns and that young man that was with them. He was still on the phone with Ross who was scrambling to get his men suited up and ready to bring Banner in, "Just follow them and let us know where they end up" Ross kept saying over and over again. Until he finally stopped and ordered him to make sure that Betty was out of harm's way in case Banner ended up cornered at some point. Talbot got tense as the car made its way through the New York traffic and hung up the phone and watched them closely.
Masterson and Tibbits came into the room and looked at Blonsky and could see that he was different, his confidence had been overwhelming before but now he seemed more bloodthirsty he had read Banner's file and looked at surveillance footage probably dozens of times since Panama. They were handed their equipment and took a seat waiting for Ross to come brief them on what was going to happen out there, they knew that couldn't square up and assault Banner from the front given how badly that failed last time but they needed to take him down whether he's alive or dead.
The rest of the men assembled by Ross entered the room and were talking amongst themselves including one that was bugged by Natasha Romanoff the night before. Clint was napping currently having taken the night shift and Natasha took quite a bit of notice when the soldier she bugged at the bar last night mentioned that they were mobilizing and that it wasn't a drill. She had already called Coulson who told her that if Banner was found that she and Barton needed to try and discreetly help him evade Ross and his men. Waiting for the briefing to start was so annoying for Natasha who was not enjoying the various conversations that the young men were currently having while waiting for Ross to enter the room. It was clear that none of these men had been briefed on what Banner could do and that worried her that Ross was willing to risk all these men's lives by not filling them all in on what they would be dealing with.
Ross entered the room and the room fell silent as he took his position in front of the men with a screen behind him that came to life. "Gentleman we have intelligence that places our target within the city limits of New York City and even more importantly we have actively tailed the target and now have his current location." Natasha punched Clint in the shoulder to wake him up. A building schematic pulled up on the screen, "This apartment building is where our target is holed up. We believe that he has gone to the top floor where a Dr. Samuel Sterns has rented out a full floor of the building where he lives and more importantly where his lab is."
This lab information peaked Blonsky's interest as he finally peeled his eyes from his Banner files and looked at Ross. "Banner couldn't be trying to make the Hulk stronger, he would have no reason to try and do that which would only leave one option. He's trying to get rid of it" Blonsky's eyes burned with rage as the realization of what Banner was planning dawned on him.
Ross laid out the plan, they would clear the streets and surrounding blocks and would move in to take Banner quietly and Ross could clearly see Blonsky's frustration at the news. Ross knew that Blonsky wanted another shot at the Hulk and that he would get it only if they failed to extract Banner quietly, he could not risk a high profile failure in New York City, that could push the Security Council to give operational control to Fury and Shield which would more than likely end with Banner in some lab somewhere or even suiting up with that ridiculous Stark not to mention whoever Fury had under the Shield umbrella that nobody even knows about yet.
As the briefing came to an end Natasha pulled out her laptop and checked out Sterns in the Shield database as Clint tried calling Coulson to keep him up to date on what was going on but didn't get an answer on Coulson's phone. Natasha found the address and started the car hoping to get inside the building before Ross and his men could seal the area which would make things more difficult and could keep them from helping Banner escape.
Talbot was waiting outside the building he saw Betty and Banner enter with the others a few minutes ago and was told to stay put while Ross mobilized his men. He sighed wondering if he should warn Betty to get out of harm's way but decided against it. He had no doubt that she would warn Banner and would destroy Talbot's chances at using this whole situation to his benefit and help fast track him to the top of the military chain of command.
Clint's phone rang and he found that Coulson was getting back to him, "Coulson, Ross is making his move on Banner and it's going down in the city. Why didn't you answer my call? You never not answer my calls" stated Clint as Natasha weaved their car through traffic.
"Believe it or not Agent Barton I have other things to do than babysit you two all of the time" said Coulson as he looked over at Darcy Lewis who was freezing in the corner of the quinjet as a big block of ice sat in the middle of the cargo hold where they were moving towards a Shield facility. "Listen up, I trust you and Natasha's judgement, do what you have to keep Banner safe. I'll be in the city tonight after I take care of this assignment I'm on right now. Good luck guys we are counting on you" he said hanging up the phone.
Clint looked at his phone and then looked at Natasha "Well that was a pretty simple directive, wonder what has him all riled up?"
Ross watched closely as his men loaded up in the trucks and he sighed he was going to get Banner today no matter what it took.
