Talbot placed himself into the observation room for Banner's room and watched the man carefully, Betty had refused to talk to him since finding out about his work with her father. "She'll get over it" he said to himself as Ross entered the room with him.
"Has he done anything?" he asked as he took a brief seat with Talbot.
"No, nothing yet sir" replied Talbot taking a sip of his coffee.
"Good, my daughter wants to talk to him" he said matter of factly causing Talbot to look at him "I may not like it but now that Banner is captured I want to try and repair some damage that was done over the course of my pursuit of Bruce. I understand if you want to step outside during this given your relationship with Betty and her past relationship with Bruce" said Ross who was only half paying attention to Talbot with his concern for Betty trumping everything at this moment.
"I'll be fine sir. Betty needs this conversation to help her move on from Banner and I think this will be good for her" he said taking another sip of coffee.
Blonsky made his way through the base and found the cell where Ross was keeping the doctor that was helping Banner, Blonsky remembered seeing plenty of things inside that lab and knew that if anyone could get him what Banner had it was Sterns. He got the guard to take a quick break and entered the cell where Sterns jumped when the door opened.
Blonsky walked quickly and grabbed Sterns by the scruff of his neck and lifted and pushed him against the back wall. "You saw what Banner became and I'm willing to bet that you know just how to make that happen to somebody else" Blonsky said staring into the eyes of Sterns.
"Please calm down" said Sterns hoping to escape this situation with is head intact. "I think we might be able to help each other" he said which prompted Blonsky to let Sterns stand on his feet. "I have been researching the transformation since I started helping Bruce, while working on the cure for him I worked on some way to make the transformation happen. I thought I could sell the serum to the government and set myself up for life. The cure worked just not how Bruce wanted it to" Blonsky had let go now and was listening very closely. Sterns fixed his shirt and looked at Blonsky "My cure actually enhances his abilities and I believe that we can use it as an enhancer and make someone like you into something like him. You want what Banner has and I need a test subject to test my theory. I think we can help each other" explained Sterns.
Blonsky smiled "What do you need?"
"I just need to get back to my lab and I can get this done" said Sterns knowing this was his one chance to not only make it through this but also test his serum without being forced to hand it over to the military.
"Fine I'll get you out of here" said Blonsky as he took a step back "But if you screw me on this, I will end you" said Blonsky prompting a nod from Sterns.
Betty entered the interrogation room, she looked and saw the double mirror where her father was standing behind watching like a hawk. Bruce looked up with a dire look on his face "Are you okay?" she asked taking the seat across from Bruce.
Bruce looked over at the double mirror shocked that Ross would let Betty see him, but now sitting and looking at the double mirror where Ross was watching Bruce understood. Ross was doing him a favor, giving him a chance to say goodbye and it that brief moment of realization Bruce actually appreciated old Thunderbolt. He nodded to the mirror in appreciation before turning his focus to Betty.
"I'm fine believe it or not. As much as I've dreaded this I should have known that it was inevitable" he said as she shook her head.
"You can't just give up" she said her eyes tearing up despite her best efforts to avoid it.
"I'm not giving up, I'm not even talking about being captured" he said prompting a curious look on Betty's face. "I'm talking about us…in the back of my mind I always had this foolish idea that we could somehow make it work. I would get the cure and we would figure it out."
"We don't need the cure to figure it out" said Betty prompting Talbot to start paying more close attention. "I lied to you earlier when I said I'd moved on. I miss you Bruce and I want to help you."
Bruce shook his head, the Hulk was too dangerous to keep Betty around him, and Bruce needed her to move on now that his cure hopes had been lost. "Betty I can't do that to you. I can't ask you to give up your life for me, you deserve to be happy and get everything you can out of life and I can't give that to you. Even if your father and the government would let me go I can't give you those things, you need to be with someone who can."
Betty shook her head, she was speechless "Are you telling me to leave you here to rot?"
"No" he replied "I'm asking you to forget, me, what we had. Focus on your future Betty not on the past and not on me. I need you to go and enjoy the life I can't have."
Talbot was fuming, his girlfriend essentially just broke up with him over a two-way mirror and the guy she was trying to leave him for just told her that he couldn't do that for her. He looked at Ross who was walking out of the room, clearly to get Betty out of there.
Betty stood up when the door opened, she turned to leave but faced Bruce one last time "Goodbye Bruce" she said as she walked out of the interrogation room and out of Bruce's life. Talbot watched Betty leave and she paid him no mind what so ever, he turned his gaze back through the two-way mirror and stared with rage at Banner.
Natasha watched as Coulson and Clint joined her in her car, "Anything?" asked Coulson prompting a quick shake of the head by Natasha.
"Plenty of people going in but nobody of note out yet" she was about to continue when she noticed something. "Hold on is that Blonsky?" she asked as Coulson and Clint pulled out binoculars.
"Yup that's him" said Clint "and I believe that is a Dr. Samuel Sterns who Banner was working with following right behind him."
"Yes it is" said Coulson who was thinking about their next move. "Okay Romanoff you and Barton will follow Blonsky and Sterns, I want to know what he is up to and what it means for us or Banner. I'll stay here and monitor the situation for Fury, stay in contact and let's get this under control."
