I saw Civil War and UHHH guys the feels. My god the romanogers feels and the ruined ending uhh. Anyway I'm going to try and continue this fiction and hopefully bring in the civil war plot eventually. I'm sorry if I've criminalized Banner or Romanoff in any way or taken them slightly out of character. Honestly I just let some of my emotions run a little wild. Any way please R&R.

What was I going to do? As I drove back to New York from DC I kept on having these hot flashes. His skin on mine, his lips on mine and the love in his eyes as the night progressed. What was she thinking, she was a married woman in love with another man, and here she was trying to save her marriage. It would be so easy to just walk away from her current life and just be someone different. She could just join Steve and run, be apart of SHIELD and have a life she craved. Steve must be killing himself, sleeping with a married woman. What's wrong with her, seducing Steve into sleeping with her? Steve left, and part of me was heart broken but a bigger part of me was excited and believed that maybe just maybe there was a chance for us. I assume he went back to work at SHEILD, but I don't know.

Finally when she pulled back into the Stark Tower she went to work. She knew that she owed it to herself and to Steve to try and make her marriage work. She couldn't just hope right now, she actually needed to forget Steve if she wanted this to work so that if she went to Steve it would be honest and pure and not her running away. She went straight to her room to only find Bruce missing, a note scrawled on the fridge saying he's stuck in the lab again.

Days turned into weeks and she felt so lost. She tried so hard with Bruce, but it seemed like he didn't want her anymore. She planned a fancy dinner and trip, both of which Bruce never showed to. The weeks turned into months. Once again it was that time of the year, where they mourned the loss of Steve. She invited Bruce with her to D.C. to pay their respects together and finally he agreed to come. After two days there she went to SHIELD to see if she could find Steve. She still hadn't told anyone that she knew he was alive. She went up to his office only to find it cleared out. She made her way to Fury's office.

"Where is he?"

"Retired."

"What does that mean?"

"He's done unless the world really needs him, off the grid."

"You expect me to believe that you don't know where he is?"

"No I know you are smarter than that."

"Then where is he?"

"Are you sure you are ready to go to him?"

"Fury what are you implying?"

"You don't think Rogers told me, you don't think that he just resigned for no reason do you? The man's a solider for Christ sake."

"What did he tell you?"

"That things happened between you two and that he clearly was a changed man. He stayed on for a few months but then left about six months ago to just be Steve Rogers."

"Where?"

"Promise me you won't go to him until you are sure." She gave him that look and he nodded. " Upstate New York. Here's the address."

"Thanks Fury. Just so we're clear, I'm done with this, I have a new home waiting for me and just like him, don't call unless you really need me."

When Natasha returned to her hotel room she heard voices. She couldn't place them; one was Bruce's though. The other was feminine. She knew it wasn't the T.V. though. She opened her suite to find Bruce and a girl talking.

"Honey I'm back." They abruptly stopped and Bruce stared at her.

"Natasha. Hi."

"Hello, and who might our guest be?"

"She, uh, she's my ex. Betty. Betty this is Natasha."

"His wife." Natasha added. Bruce looked at her with a strange look.

"Nice to meet you."

"Like wise." Thought Natasha had a funny feeling about this.

"So how did you meet her, Bruce?" Natasha asked him.

"Well to be honest it was love at first sight, you know. She was one of the best scientists and pretty to boot. I mean I was always taken with her and I just never had the nerve to ask her out. Once though, she asked me out and that's how that happened." Natasha watched and Bruce's face lit up for the first time in a long time and a smile crossed his face. She looked at his eyes, bright and joyful, full of an emotion she had never seen Bruce have when he looked at her or talked to her or talked about her. How could she ever expect for their relationship to work if he was still in love with Betty and she was in love with Steve. Love, it was such a childish thing, something she was trained to not want or experience and yet her she was a love struck woman locked in a marriage.

She sat there and was only certain of one thing, she needed to get home, she needed to see Steve again. It had been a year and she missed him and she felt like she was losing him all over again. Betty left close to one in the morning, and Bruce looked dull all over again. She had long since downed a whole bottle of vodka, unknowingly.

"You still love her." It wasn't a question just a mere fact a mere statement.

"Sorry?"

"Don't play coy Bruce, I can see it in the way you look at her. The way you talk to her. You treat her and look at her in ways you don't with me. I honestly thought that you had moved on that we were meant to be, but clearly I am just a rebound that went to far."

"Natasha don't speak like that, I care for you deeply."

"Care? I'm the woman you married, your WIFE and you just care for me deeply?"

"You know what I meant Natasha. Nat honey calm down."

"Don't ever Nat me, that's reserved for a select few."

"Yeah like who Steve? Mmh? He's a dead man, and yet you still act as if he is still around, still your best friend. News flash he's dead and I'm your husband."

"Bruce why are you acting jealous of a dead man?"

"I'm not blind. Do you think that I don't see it? That I didn't see it at that party all of those years ago? He looked at you as a man in love, he was a lovesick puppy and you kicked him aside and came to me. God it was such an ego boost and I was so happy that you picked me."

"Bruce, what are we doing?"

"What do you mean, you are the one who started throwing around accusations."

"I don't really think it was a meaningless statement or a fact-less statement for that matter."

"Maybe it wasn't but that doesn't give you the right to play innocent."

"Play innocent?"

"Yeah, you act as if you are giving everything for this relationship and really you are not, you are a spaced out lover. You never want to do anything you already have one foot out the door. It's no wonder Alexei left you, it's no wonder Steve didn't push for you fight me tooth and nail, and it's as if you never even wanted this marriage." She reached over and slapped him. No matter the risk of exposing the Hulk. How dare he bring up Alexei, she shared that story in confidence and here he was throwing it in her face like she deserved it and all the torture he put her though.

"How dare you."

"How dare I, more like how dare you."

"I have done nothing but try these past two years, and yes the death of my best friend on our wedding night killed me and took a toll on me, but especially this past year I have done nothing wrong. I have been the perfect wife, I have set up date nights and trips and yet you always find some reason or the next to avoid me. More importantly I've put by shield life on hold to be with you, I have made you my priority because that is what a loving wife does and yet you rejected me. And now I come home to find you flirting with your ex in front me shamelessly and you don't even care to deny it."

"You know what, yeah I was flirting shamelessly, because at least I know she cares for me. You know what I'm going to take walk, I'm going to go find her and when I get back maybe you should be gone."

"Fine maybe I will be."

"Good."

"Done. Consider this our official break up, I'm done with your melodramatic attitude."

"Good, I'm done with your constant red ledger crap." She slapped him again for throwing her past in her face, how dare he, no gentleman would do that. He stormed out and she went to the room and started packing. She grabbed everything there and then took off her wedding bands. She left them on the table with a note that read: you are a piece of work Banner a real bastard a lot of the time, we are done, I want a divorce. Clint will know how to contact me to get me the papers.

She made the several hour journey up to the avengers tower and then to the base. She packed up all of her stuff from her shared rooms and put what she wasn't taking with her in Clint's room, knowing that he wouldn't mind until she got back her own room. She took her corvette and made the drive upstate to Steve's address. She thanked Fury for believing in her. She finally found the place just outside of Westchester. She pulled up to a gated entrance and fenced in property. She buzzed the intercom.

"Hello?" He sounded still so him.

"Steve?" It came out a lot raspier that she planned.

"Nat? Nat is that you?"

"Yeah Steve, it's me." The gate ringed and began to open. She drove through and followed the driveway up to the main house. It looked knew and massive. Steve was outside waiting for her.

"Natasha what happened?" The first thing she took in was his well-groomed beard. Then she saw the worry pool in his crystal clear blue eyes.

"I…Bruce…we, we got into a fight and we both said things that we didn't or maybe we did me and I, he said that I should leave, and I couldn't think of any reasonably distanced place to go besides here. Fury he gave me the address."

"Come on Natasha, lets get you inside its late. We'll sort everything out in the morning." He took her inside and straight upstairs, on the second floor there were several doors and one of them was slightly ajar. He brought her there and placed her in the bed and then moved to leave her alone.

"Stay? Please I can't be alone anymore. Just stay?" He looked at her pleading eyes and nodded before crawling into the bed next to her. She immediately turned to cuddle into him.

"Who knew the Black Widow was a cuddle type of person?" She swatted him. "Oww Nat that hurt." She smirked before slowly dozing off.

When he came to the next morning we was pleased to see that he hadn't dreamed that Natasha was here, that she was with him. She began to stir and Steve was ready for the fear the apprehension and resentment, but none of that came.

"Good Moring."

"Morning Nat."

"Thank you Steve, for everything last night."

"Never a bother…you wanna talk about it." After a few moments she nodded yes.

"But over breakfast please tell me you still make your famous pancakes."

"Yes, I'll just go get ready and get your bag, give a few minutes to freshen up. He left her, her stuff and walked away to make breakfast. When she came down dressed in sweats and a tee, he could have sworn she never looked more relaxed. They ate and quickly their banter had returned. She flicked a little whip cream in his direction only for him to pleat her with blueberries. They cleaned up before moving to the couch with coffee.

"So Steve, I wanted to explain myself."

"Nat it's really okay, I'm just glad that you are okay, that my friend is here."

"But what if I don't want to be your friend anymore."

"Nat?" She reached around her neck and pulled out his cross and tags. She took them off and put them in his hand. He looked up at her and she nodded. He leaned over and kissed her.

"I want this Steve, I'm ready, I'm not running away and I want you, if you'll still have me."

"I will…I always will." She leaned over to kiss him again. She would never get tried of that, of these feelings. She was finally at peace.

"Last night I want to explain. I was in DC with Bruce. We have been trying for the past year and it just wasn't working. I still made my annual trip to visit your grave and Bruce, he accompanied me but it felt forced. I went to see you, part of me had made up mind to come find you to and tell you I'm ready. But your office it was cleared out and when I went to see Nick, he was ever the father. He somehow knew what had happened between us and he warned me that I should be certain. I was certain. He gave me your address."

"I am horrible at keeping secretes and ultimately with you on my mind from that night I just I couldn't keep going on. So a few months after our night I left."

"I can respect that."

"So what happened with Bruce to cause you to come up here in shambles?"

"Well I came back from Nick's office and…and when I got back I found him with Betty, of course I didn't know it was her at first. But then he started talking about how he fell in love with her when all I was asking for is why was she there. He spoke like she was still the one with his heart, like he was still in love with her."

"Oh Natasha I'm so sorry."

"It's okay Steve. I'm fine. But I got lost in the moment, with the help of a little alcohol. I saw him talk like you did I first found out you were still alive Steve. Like this woman was the center of his universe. I brought it up to him and said do you still love her. He didn't deny it and he was flirty and he threw you and you being dead and Alexei in my face. He accused me of things and I said them right back. He said to leave so I did, and I left me rings. If he didn't want me then I wasn't going to fight for him any longer. Regardless of having you waiting for me romantically, I needed a friend and Clint was away and I just I needed someone to talk to. I asked him for a divorce."

"Natasha I just want you to be happy and hopefully you are ready for this, I don't want to spend another moment fantasying about our future, I want to start our future."

"I would like nothing more than that Steve. To spend my life with you for now and forever." He kissed her softly. It was a promise to a better life a life to them.
