Chapter 12

Team RWBY, JNPR and CRDL have gathered in the training room. A person from each team are require to spar against each other. A moment ago, Pyrrha Nikos sparred against Russel Thrush. The next match would be Ruby Rose against Cardin Winchester.

Both team leaders get into their position. Cardin took out his mace. Before they start the match, Ms Glynda say, "Miss Rosé, I want you to not use your Grimm senses during the match."

"I'll try, Ms Goodwitch..." She reply. The woman nod and stand between Ozpin and Alex. She announce, "Let the battle begin!"

Cardin sprints to her and landed his mace but she hold down his weapon and leap into the air. She kick him down and quickly activate her weapon as she back away from him. He got his footing and make another sprint to the white girl. He strike her with his mace multiple times but Ruby blocked them with her gauntlets. She look down to his feet and immediately kick them, however, he manage to balance himself.

Alex look at his scroll as he heard a rapid beeping sound coming from his tab. He tap on Ruby's name and his jaw drops. Her heart beats extremely fast and her blood pressure increases rapidly. Everything's red on her status. "Stop the match..." He muttered but none of them hear him.

Ruby felt a sudden adrenaline runs to her bloodstream. An aggressive urge rushed through her mind. Her hair spiked up and she begin to grunt. Her teeth and nails grew sharper. Suddenly, spikes shot out from her back. Her bloodshot eyes locked onto Cardin. In a blink of eye, she's right in front of him and choke him. Yang panicked. "Ruby, stop!" She shouted.

The white girl won't let go of him but her gaze meets with the blonde. She cringed. Yang could see hatred in her eyes, hunger for blood. Her grip on Cardin's neck loosens and aimed on her sister. Yang noticed her sudden change of behavior immediately activate Ember Celica as the white girl was about to plunge her claws into her.

Yang grab her wrists, squeeze them tightly and slightly push her. For once, she felt fear of fighting with her sister. Her bloodshot eyes penetrates her lilac eyes. Weiss and Blake went to help her but then, they heard a gunshot echoes in the room.

Yang doesn't feel the white girl struggling to rip her off. Ruby collapsed onto her chest, making the blonde panic. "R-Ruby, are you okay?!" She sits up and shake her body. Her eyes caught a dart on her left arm. She look at the three adults and saw Alex holding a rifle. The red haired man notice her gaze said, "It's alright! It's a tranquilizer!" She sigh in relief.

The spikes on Ruby's back retracted as well as her claws and teeth. Her white hair goes down. Alex dropped the rifle and take out his Scroll. Her heart beat returns to normal pace and her blood pressure decreases. He approaches the girls while holding the scroll. He look at Ruby in depression. "Bring her to the infirmary..." He muttered.

Yang gets up with the help of Blake. She scoop up her sister in her arms, who's sleeping soundly due to the tranquilizer.

"How is she...?" Yang asked. After Alex ran some tests on Ruby's blood, he look at the results on his Scroll. He sigh. "Genomic Metazoan. I should've known..." He said.

"Geno Meta what?"

"Genomic Metazoan, silly. It's a type of virus which will turn an innocent person into a serial killer. But I don't understand how Kane could get his hands onto it. Making one will be impossible if he don't have the real one..." Weiss said.

"Besides that, it'll erase a person's memories or worse, it could kill them..." Alex muttered. Yang is shocked. She gets up in a jolt and exclaimed, "Then, find the vaccine, doctor!"

"I can't! As Weiss said, there's no way I could create one if I don't have the virus. It's no longer in this world..." Yang settled down and clutched her head. Tears run down her cheeks. Weiss and Blake could see her body shake violently.

"Please, I don't want to lose my sister again... She's the only one I have... Please, do something, doctor..."

The heiress and the Faunus look up to the red haired man. He look down in guilt. However, he reply, "I'll try my best, Yang. For now, keep an eye on her. She needs your help..."

Unbeknownst by them, Ruby heard everything. She curled herself on her bed and close her eyes. A single tear trails down. 'I'm a disgrace..." She thought.

Her mind went back before she met Yang. Her parents. Her hometown. The two things she lost and abandoned. The things that she couldn't get back because of the cursed life she adopted. Living as a Grimm.

Her memories of her parents remained vague. She barely remember her mother but she couldn't recall how her father looks like. But she missed him dearly. She doesn't know why he left her behind. She wanted to see him again. She cried.

Then, she felt a pair of arms wrapped around her. The same arms that always hold her whenever she's alone. She was afraid of losing her sister, abandoned by her like she used to be treated before.

But her mind still winds up of her lost father. However, she discarded the thoughts away as she think he might be dead already. She return to her disrupted slumber and continue to drown into the dream world.

At the entrance, the red haired man watches the four girls sleeping. But his gaze in on Ruby. He sighed and turn around. He murmured, "How can she handle the truth...?"
