Steve turned to leave but Amanda spoke up, "Steve wait." He turned around. She hugged him without any warning then let go. "What was that for?"

"It's for being a really great dad. Both of you, for 15 years I was a single mom, and yes, it was my own doing; but, now the kids have both of you. It's a bit unorthodox but I honestly think we make a great team. I truly feel blessed and I just wanted to say thank you. Both of you, thank you for being amazing fathers."

"I feel blessed myself Mandy, finding out I was a daddy truly was the happiest day of my life. So thank you for not giving them up for adoption or worse, not having them at all." Steve replied.

"Hey, you're both blessed because I am clearly the clue of all this so you're welcome." Danny chuckled.

Steve and Amanda followed in laughter. Shortly after Steve said goodnight and the two newlyweds went off to their bedroom to start the beginning of their marriage.

Ainsley goes to NY

Steve, along with Jago, Kash, Brian, Nate, and Ainsley were at the airport. Ainsley was saying goodbye to her father and brothers.

"Daddy, I'm going to miss my flight if you don't stop hugging me."

"Oh, sorry pumpkin." Steve said as he released the hug.

"Don't worry so much," said Brian, "your little girl is in good hands with me and Nate. Not only are we your partner's brothers, but we're fellow officers of the law, no worries okay?"

"I'm not worried when she is with you; I'm worried when she isn't." Steve confessed.

"Daddy, when I'm not with them, I can still take care of myself just fine. Remember, I'm in my fourth year of Karate. I'm a black belt student. I have a way to go, but, fact is I still hold a black belt. In other words, I'm not helpless."

"Plus dad, you taught us those combat moves for self-defense; remember?" Kash added.

"Yeah dad, and we even lived there before so it's not like Ley Ley has no clue where she is."

"Lived there? When?" Steve asked.

"For like a little over year when we were 14." Jago answered.

"A year? Doing what?"

"Mom had a huge project for work that she was the lead on. It just happened to be in New York so we lived there." Ainsley explained.

"Then why did she act like you would be alone in New York? She must have made some friends that she could trust right?" Steve inquired.

"Mmmm she was pretty busy so her social life wasn't super full. She did date a guy for like ten months though." Said Kash.

"Yeah, Mom probably figured it was best not to suggest to her new husband that her daughter would be staying with her ex-boyfriend, I mean ex-fiancé. Could be kinda weird." Ainsley said.

"Fiancé? Wow, your mother gets a lot of proposals doesn't she?" Steve asked.

"Oh, like you were never planning on asking Mama to marry you when you were dating?" Ainsley asked with a hint of teasing but with a cup of sweetness.

Steve smirked, "You're right, you got me, and your mother is certainly a catch. Anyway, she obviously didn't marry him so what happened? Did he turn out to be a real jerk or something?"

"Not at all," Jago answered, "he was really cool, just super crazy busy career guy, but when he was around, he was cool. Mom got promoted over here in Hawaii. His career was in New York. He was like a main partner or something. Bottom line, they both chose their careers over love."

"Yeah, so sad, but, imagine if Mom decided to stay, we may never have met you." Ainsley added.

"Good point," said Steve, "it did turn out for the best then." He smiled and kissed her head. "Okay baby girl, I'll relax…somewhat. I still expect you to carry the pepper spray, promise me."

"Ugh, daaadddyy."

"Ainsley." Steve replied with a very concerned look.

Ainsley looked into her father's beautiful, shining blue eyes. Eyes anyone could get lost in.

"Not fair using your eyes on me like that daddy. Totally unfair," she teased.

"Did it work?"

"Yeah, fine, I promise I'll carry the pepper spray with me at all times."

He chuckled, "Good, then one last quick hug and you can go."

She hugged her father and brothers one last time then headed through security with her two new uncles.

Once in the truck, Steve turned to his boys, "I'm ready for breakfast, how about you two?"

"Starving." Jago answered.

"French toast would be amazing right now." Kash added.

"Okay, then breakfast on the beach, and unless there is some huge state of emergency, I took the whole day off for just the three of us."

"SWEET!" Both boys say in unison.

"Can we go surfing?" Jago asked.

"Can we go on the boat and go swimming?" Kash asked.

Steve chuckled and answered, "Yes."

"Yes to which one?" Asked Kash.

"Both." Steve smiled ear to ear.

"SWEET!"

Three days later, (6:30 AM)…

"It's not fair dad, why do we hafta go to school and Ainsley doesn't?" Jago whined.

Steve sighed, "Jay, your sister still does school; she just does it in the form of home schooling when she's away."

"Why can't I be home schooled?" Jago asked.

"Why do you need to be home schooled?" Steve asked.

"Hellloo dad, so I can practice surfing more."

"Mmmm and when would you do your school work?"

"Afterwards, everyone knows the best time to surf is the WHOLE morning. Well, it's my favorite time anyway."

"Really, so you're saying if your mom, Danny and I agreed to let you be home schooled, you would practice surfing in the morning and do your schooling in the afternoon?"

Jago sat up straight; he couldn't believe his dad was asking him questions as if he would actually consider it.

"Yes Sir, I promise."

"So you honestly, truly want to be a professional surfer for the rest of your life or do you have other plans?" Steve inquired.

"Just through collage, I want to be an oceanographer."

"Really? That's great, I feel really bad that I didn't know that about you." Steve said feeling like an ass.

"Its okay dad, I mean, it hasn't even been a year since we met each other, I'm not mad. And it's not like I'm your only kid so it's cool."

"Okay, seriously, you being so cool about it is making me feel more like an ass."

"Dad, it's really okay, trust me, Jago is a very go-with-the-flow kind of guy." Kash reaffirmed.

"And what about you, do you have any other life goals I don't know about? Your mother told me that even before you met me or Danny you wanted to be in law. Is that still true?"

"Yeah, the Navy and then law enforcement and now that both of my dad's are in it, there is no doubt to me that it's my destiny." Kash smiled widely.

Steve was especially proud of that statement then looked at both of his boys for a moment, "Okay, I'm thinking we need some one-on-one time. Saturday, I'll be working, but, Kash, why don't you join me for the day, get a small feel for the life of law enforcement?"

"Really!? Cool, yes, thanks!"

Steve chuckled, "Great and Jay, on Sunday, you and me, surfing and whatever else you want after."

"Very cool dad, I'm down." Jago smiled just as wide.

Meanwhile in New York (12:30 PM)…

Ainsley was just fitted with a blue print halter romper that made her own blue eyes really pop. The outfit was complete with a simple pair of white slip on sandals. It was an outfit perfect for the beach. One of the perks in her contract was that she was able to keep each of the outfits she modeled.

She now sat down for her makeup and just as the makeup artist was finished, the photographer's assistant walked in.

"Ainsley, you look truly stunning but we have a problem."

"Umm, did I do something wrong? Was I really bad this morning?"

"No, no, no, not at all. Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like that. You did amazing this morning. It's the new set, Jean Claude is NOT happy. All of the props he had envisioned…well, they just aren't what he envisioned. He's going to need time to re-think the shot."

"Oh, umm okay, so like twenty minutes or something?" She asked innocently.

The assistant chuckled, "I wish it were that quick. It'll be at least a couple of hours and that's IF we are lucky. Why don't you take a long lunch? Just don't wonder too far. I'll call you on your cell when we are ready."

"Mmm okay, should I change?"

"No, but since this is New York and not the beach, you will probably want to wear a jacket. Did you bring one or do you need to borrow one?"

"I have a jacket."

"Okay then. I'll call you later."

Ainsley put on her princess cut short waisted black leather jacket and changed from sandals to over-the-knee black socks and knee high black boots with three-inch wedge heels. She thought about asking if any of the other models wanted to join her but decided to use the time to make some phone calls and maybe do some shopping. She grabbed some lunch at a nearby deli and texted her friends and each of her family members. She had a few conversations and did some people watching. It was five minutes after four o'clock when the photographer's assistant, Becky, called.

Ainsley answered, "Hello?"

"Ainsley, it looks like we are done for the day. We will see you tomorrow at 7am."

"Umm okay, do you guys want the outfit back first?"

"It's okay, we have extra if need be. Do you need a ride home? I can have a limo ready for you within 30 minutes."

"Would it be okay if I did some shopping first?"

"Okay, just give me a call when you're ready and I'll set you up."

"Thanks Becky."

"Sure thing kid, talk to you later."

Ainsley hung up and decided to just go with the flow and simply see what was down the block. Twenty minutes later she ended up finding a cute indie boutique that caught her eye and went in. She wasn't in there long before two other girls around her age walked in. She made brief eye contact with them before she re-focused on the jacket she had in her hand. She took her own jacket off in order to try it on. Before she had a chance a man in his early twenties busted through the door with a gun. He had it pointed straight at one of the cashiers. Everyone scattered and took covert but one didn't get a chance.

"Lorraine, you are NOT leaving me for HIM! Why would you do this to me?!" The gunman shouted as he pointed the gun at the frightened 19 year old cashier.

It was that moment something triggered inside of Ainsley. She saw the look in the other girl's eyes; the look of being scared and helpless. That look reminded her of how she felt when she was attacked at age 12. Within seconds she simply gathered up every ounce of courage she could muster. Along with the four years of training and with what her own father taught her, she took action. She assessed the area and noticed the other two girls were out of site. She sped over and just as quickly grabbed the gunman's wrist and shoved his arm up in the air as she kicked the back of the knee with her three inch wedge heels. He screamed and as she predicted he did shoot the gun due to an automatic reflex. The bullet shot through the ceiling as he fell to the ground. She knocked the gun out of his hand with another kick. He reached for his knife and he sliced her arm as she had her pepper spray in her hand and aimed it right into his eyes.

"AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you bitch!" He shouted in pain as he covered his eyes desperately trying to see.

Ainsley took advantage, grabbed his gun off the floor, put the safety on then hit the side of his head with the butt of the gun. He instantly passed out. Once the gunman was down, she had an instant image of the fact that her parents wouldn't be too thrilled with the risk she just made. She quickly put the gun on the counter and grabbed tote bag but accidently left her jacket behind.

"Call the police. If he wakes before they get here use the gun to keep him down." Ainsley said as she ran out.

"Wait!" The cashier shouted, but Ainsley kept running.
