Chapter 11: Buried
"You were alone to begin with!" Sasuke yelled, punching Naruto in the jaw, getting the orange shinobi off of him.
The blond genin flew backwards but managed to keep his footing on the water. Sasuke stood and ran to stand in front of Naruto. The overcast sky filled with hidden tears.
"You're right," Naruto said, a frown appearing on his usually cheerful face, "I don't know what it's like…to have a family…but it is the first time I've had a bond like this! So that's why I'll stop you!"
Naruto woke up breathing uneasily. 'Another dream…with Tou-chan…' Naruto rubbed his eyes and sat up slowly.
During the past few months, the 5-year old chibi had been having visions and dreams of things that hadn't happened. It frightened him greatly. Naruto had never ever seen Sasuke mad. At least not at him. At others yes…but not him. Naruto also got scared since in the dreams and flashes, his daddy hurt him.
'But Tou-chan would never hurt me right?' Naruto asked himself. Part of him, a part he didn't know he had wanted to scream that-yes-Sasuke would and has hurt him.
Whenever the dreams came, Naruto would run to his Daddy's room. Sasuke tried to reason with the boy, and reassure him that, those were just dreams but Naruto wasn't so sure. Naruto debated whether he should wake up his Father again. The dreams came once a week. Each was different. Sometimes he dreamed about bickering with his dad and getting hit by Sakura-neechan…then he would dream about Sasuke…
'…wait…not Sasuke…he was Tou-chan.' Naruto shook his head and tried to go back to sleep, deciding not to bother his dad again. Besides, tomorrow Naruto would start classes in the academy.
Sasuke watched Naruto from the shadowy corner of the boy's room. He frowned. His baka son didn't realize he was voicing his thoughts aloud. Sasuke knew those dreams were more than just sudden flashes, or stored information from the day's activities. Sasuke was concerned. At first, he had dismissed the young child assuming they were, just dreams, but as time progressed; however, it was becoming clear that they were not. The dreams sounded like fragments of some of the memories he and Naruto shared, as well as some of Naruto's own experiences. Sighing silently, he waited until Naruto's breathing evened before leaving. Naruto had a big day tomorrow and so did he.
"Naruto!"
Naruto pulled himself further into the covers. It was very early and the boy wasn't much of a morning person. His Father's voice called him out of the void of sleep.
"Naruto if you don't get down here in the next ten seconds I will wake up you. You don't want that do you?" Sasuke's voice was stern. He was dead serious. At this Naruto jumped out of bed. The blond did not want a repeat of his dad's wake up calls. Once, Sasuke dumped a glass of cold water on his head.
"Coming Tou-chan!" Naruto replied.
Naruto skipped down the stairs and made his way to the table. Sasuke silently arranged their breakfast and sat down. A few years ago Tsunade had helped the Uchiha move into a new house since Naruto was getting bigger.
"Ready for the academy?" the raven asked after taking a piece of fish between his chopsticks. Sasuke wasn't the talkative type, but he made an effort. At least with Naruto more so than his other friends.
"Mhm!" Naruto grinned widely, "I'll show all of them what I can do! Just you wait ttebayo!"
"Hn," Sasuke smiled but very faint. It wasn't much but it was real. "Just don't get too cocky."
Naruto pouted and ate his breakfast, glaring childishly at his Father. He was determined to make him proud and get stronger. Naruto had seen his Tou-chan train with bushy-nii-san and his sensei. His Father was an amazing Taijutsu fighter. Naruto had wondered, however, why he never used ninjutsu. When he asked, Sasuke and his friends got strangely tense. In the end they told him Tou-chan could use it but not right now. Of course, Naruto wasn't remotely satisfied with that answer and asked why. In the end Sasuke told him it was a secret he would tell in his own time.
Once the duo finished breakfast, Sasuke ordered the blond to take a shower and get dressed. Naruto obeyed begrudgingly. His daddy could be so bossy sometimes. He walked to the bathroom and took a shower, then brushed his teeth. While he was scrubbing his canines, Naruto thought he'd heard a voice. But it wasn't Tou-chan's. It was deeper and meaner. Not that Tou-chan was mean…at least not to him and his close friends…sort of?
"Naruto…"
Naruto stopped scrubbing and looked around. He suddenly felt scared and jumpy. With a shaky hand, he finished brushing and went to get dressed. He put on a white t-shirt with an orange leaf, with black ninja pants, and sandals. Naruto couldn't shake off the feeling that this was familiar somehow…
"Naruto, it's time to go come on," Sasuke called.
After the entrance ceremony, the students began to be ushered inside. Naruto was very hesitant at first.
"Tou-chan…" He whispered. Just this morning the boy had brimmed with excitement. During the ceremony and the speech from Tsunade though, he became steadily nervous.
"It will be okay Naruto," said Sasuke firmly, crouching to meet his eyes and pat his head. "Just behave and pay attention. Iruka-sensei will be there remember? I will be here to pick you up in the afternoon."
Naruto smiled and nodded. He gave Sasuke a quick hug and ran after his classmates. Sasuke stood up and walked toward the Hokage's office. It was time to get his chakra back.
"Deidara, Sasori. You know where to go correct? We start the collection now." Said a holographic figure wearing a black robe with red clouds. His features weren't recognizable.
"Hai," said a short man. His voice was deep and rspy.
"Of course we know," said a blond man. He looked rather girlish, "don't worry leader-sama I'll make sure to capture it and blow everything up un."
"Don't get too confident Deidara." Said the shorter one.
There were other figures around them. Among them was Sasuke's older brother Itachi and his partner Kisame.
"Don't fail me." With that the meeting ended.
