"I deserve to die, but you deserve to live," Kuja whispered as the hungry roots began to envelope them.

"You made mistakes, but everyone deserves to live," Zidane replied.

"You didn't make me die alone," he rasped, the cold, chilled fingers of death were on his throat. "But I want you to live."

Zidane smirked, looking at the descending vines. His eyes were heavy; he couldn't find an escape. "I've done what I needed to do," he asserted, lowering his head to better face Kuja.

"I admire your courage." Zidane just shrugged and began to sing. If death was going to have him, at least he would think of her in his last instance. "This time don't return for me," Kuja commanded shoving Zidane with the last of his strength.

The white light of the teleporting magic engulfed Zidane but he was unaware. His eyes were clamped tightly shut. He was playing through the best of his memories, as he continued to sing Garnet's song. It was only when he felt his knees collide with the ground that he ever realized he'd moved. He gasped as he realized that he was once again on the far edge of the canyon looking out at the Lifa tree.

"Dammit Kuja! I wasn't going to leave you there to die," he called out. "Kuja!!!"

Thanks.
