Big thanks to the late FanFiction writer of yesteryear, DragonLord, for letting me take his idea and roll with it. I'm truly going to make it my own.

"Kacchan! Come on! You're gonna be late!"
It was early in the morning, the sun barely rising over the horizon of Musutafu Japan. Yet in the quiet residential neighborhood of the big city, one unkempt blond teen was once again woken from his overly enthusiastic friend, banging on his door.
"Kaaacchan! Wake up!" She exclaimed, rapping on the front of of his house again and again.
Even this early in the morning she was filled with a boundless energy. For a girl who was considered quirkless, in a world filled with super powers of all ridiculous sorts, it was kind of strange.
"I'm going to come in there if you don't get outa bed! How are you supposed to be a hero if you can't even defeat sleep?" She joked, crossing her arms underneath her breasts. There was a silence on the streets for a hot moment, before she finally heard movement from behind the door.
"Deku? The hell do you want?" The door opened to reveal her spiky blond haired friend, Katsuki Bakugo, user of the Explosion quirk. Much like his quirk, his attitude was also, you guessed it, explosive. "It's like, five in the fucking morning, damnit! Go to bed!" He seethed. She smiled at him completely unfazed.
"If I don't wake you up now you'd be late. What kinda hero is late to school?" She sassed, hands on her hips.
"The kind that doesn't fucking work on little sleep! Go away!" He snapped back. Unfortunately for him, his aggressive attitude and threats didn't work on her anymore. She'd changed since they were little.
Izuku Midoriya, the pretty tomboy that he grew up with his whole life. She had an attitude that came completely out of left field, seeing as her mother was a timid meek woman, and her father, from what the teen remembered, was a total shy nerd. She was very hands on and wasn't against flirting and getting chummy with just about anyone she could get her hands on.
You yell at her and she'd throw an arm around your shoulder and joke about something lecherous, wiggling her eyebrows to top it off. It was mostly to tease and screw with the male, and female population of her school, but she was only serious when I came to one boy. And she left no speculation as to who that boy was, when he was the only one she'd kiss, the only one she'd tease in a loving way, and the only one she promised to sacrifice everything for if the time ever came.
She was tall, mature bodied and definitely an eye catcher. Lucky him, he knew that. Dressed in her short school skirt and slightly tight school uniform she most certainly made others jealous of the blonde boy she hung out with. She flaunted her stuff, but she was only interested in him.
She was the total opposite when she was a child, a meek little girl who was too shy to even speak up for herself. But sometime after her fifth birthday something just…
Clicked…
In her head, and this new personality made itself the dominant one. Many assumed it was her quirk activating, but she was deemed medically quirkless. She was double and triple checked by a professional doctor, the same one she had growing up, and the results came back negative.
She was quirkless, no getting around that. Her mother believed that something was wrong, that her daughter definitely shouldn't be quirkless, but there was nothing she could do.
"Oh don't be like that! Come on! Get some clothes on and meet me at the station!" She waved off his comments with a level of nonchalance only she could contain. "Unless, of course, you want to skip school and let me insi-"
He stared at her with a violent twitching eye, before slamming the door in her face. He knew he couldn't ignore her and decided to get dressed, knowing she wouldn't go away if he didn't.
Izuku backed away with a mad little giggle, snickering to herself. He always made it way too easy to tease, but he never asked her to stop. That's how she knew he secretly loved it.
She was right about one thing however, a hero couldn't be late to a scene. He promised her as a child that they would become heroes and stand victoriously over everyone. Sure, a childish commitment at the time, but he wasn't going to back out of it now.
Only one thing had changed since way back then. When they were kids they promised to become the number one and two hero's in the world, together, once their quirks finally activated.
Then came the day where his quirk, the inherent ability to create explosions from his hands, activated. So eager to start their journey together, he patiently awaited her quirk to appear. But days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, and before he knew it years had passed and she was still without a quirk of her own.
While initially devastated at the news, the problem arose when she decided to give the world the middle finger and become a hero anyways. She'd do whatever it took to become a hero alongside him, even being quirkless as she was.
That was where their relationship started to take a turn. Katsuki knew the future that awaited a weak quirked, or god forbid, a quirkless hero. Death or worse, unspoken atrocities that some vile people would dare to commit.
He knew that those futures could and would await her if she became a quirkless hero. So he started trying to make her give up that dream, promising to become a hero for her, in her stead.
But she was stubborn. While upset at the reality, she didn't throw in the towel. She just became that much more dedicated in becoming a strong quirkless person, refusing to give up in the face of, in her own words, a small misstep towards her future as a hero.
He took just about every chance to try and convince her that she should pursue a different career, and that she could still stand beside him as a police woman.
She, of course, rejected his idea and only continued to seek her goal.
Now, it wouldn't have been so concerning with just her words alone but…
"Hurry up, Kacchan! Geez! You're so slow!" The blonde got two steps out his front door before Izuku swept him off his feet, carrying him bridal style as she practically kidnapped him from his front door. He blushed something fierce, demanding to be put down, but didn't struggle out of her grasp.
That was the thing. Izuku was stupid strong, and she didn't really look like she should be. She literally overpowered him, even when he fought back, and he wasn't a pushover.
"Deku, fucking put me down! I can walk on my own!" He snapped, hissing like an aggressive pomeranian. The girl glanced down to him, grinning her stupid pretty sharp toothed grin down at him.
She was also taller then him, a solid five foot eleven on his five foot seven. Not a crazy difference, but it was significant to the point that it annoyed him to no end. Especially because she'd use it to tease him, because she knew that he liked taller women.
"No! We're going to school together and you can cry about it later." She pouted, running away with him. He supposed that he should stop fighting her at this point, seeing as she somehow overpowered him…
He supposed that he shouldn't be surprised as to why she was so excited. Today was the day that their teacher planned on discussing all their futures and the schools they'd planned to attend in the coming future.
He had no doubt about the job that Izuku had in mind for herself…
"Okay, alright! Settle down everyone!" After the relatively short train ride across town, the two aspiring hero's found themselves in class at the lesser known yet still mid class school. Their teacher wasn't having the cacophony of noise first thing in the morning, and immediately set out to set his class straight.
"It's time to seriously think about your futures. It's been all fun and games up until now, but you must begin thinking clearly." The man's started passing by each of his students desks, passing out some generic career aspirations documents.
To, of course, no ones surprise, most of the class said that they wished to become heroes. However, it was very likely that none in the class at the time actually knew the truth of the life of a hero, and definitely couldn't live up to it if put into the shoes of said heroes. None but Katsuki and, to his ire, the girl of his entire life, Izuku truly understood what it meant to be a hero.
"Of course, I'm sure you all want to become heroes, so why do I even try?" The man sighed, turning back to the whiteboard. Everyone didn't even seem to think twice before selecting the hero profession.
"Hey Izuku? What's your dream job for the future?" Amidst the chatter of the classroom a girl, one of the few in Izuku's class, spoke up as she leaned over the green haired girl's chair. Said greened haired teen raised an eyebrow, as if to say seriously?
"I'm going to become a hero." Izuku stated, her signature grin on her face. Of course, the entire class, save for Katsuki and the girl seemed to break out laughing and mocking her for her unrealistic goals for her future.
Izuku crossed her arms underneath her breasts in annoyance, but didn't lash out at their response. It didn't matter what they thought in the end, they didn't matter to her. It was her dream to become a hero and save people with a smile, just like her favorite hero of all, the number one himself.
This was just about how most of her school days went, being criticized by her classmates and even the teacher because of her dreams.
But, despite her seemingly unbreakable attitude, the taunting and the jeering did eventually start to get to her. But truly, what made it worse, was the fact that Katsuki didn't defend her against them. He wouldn't rebuke them for calling her out on her dream, he'd just sit there and say nothing.
By the end of the school day she'd lost that grin of hers and that's spark seemed to have died a bit.
Katsuki wanted to go home with her, but she brushed him off this time. She needed some time to herself, otherwise she was going to be in a mood when she got home. The last guy that mocked her on her way out got slapped something fierce, and others thought better then too mock her after that.
She'd take the long way home today, the thought of a breather sounding like a great idea.
The school grounds became a distant blur behind her as she wandered off in the general direction of her house.
This part of the city was bustling at this time of day, but she wasn't feeling like sticking around such a mass of people. So the girl took to the back alleyways, avoiding the large silver and white painted buildings. If she were lucky, she'd be left alone for a while.
Of course, after passing deep into the unpopulated back roads of the city, she had a funny feeling that she wouldn't get her wish. The girl stopped underneath an overpass, eyeing her surroundings carefully. She was in no mood to mess with anyone, and if someone was indeed following her, they were about to get their world rocked.
Painfully.
Just behind her a lone manhole opened up, a viscous green slime slowly and silently leaking out into the sunlight. Izuku was unaware of the danger of the situation she found herself in until the shadow of the slime monster's form towered over her.
"Me oh my, that's a good looking body you have there! I hope you don't mind if I fill it!!"
Izuku spun on her heels, coming face to face with a massive sludge monster with large eyes and teeth being the only seemingly physical part of its body. It was laughing maniacally at her, only a moment away from lunging for her, ready to swallow her whol-
"Buzz off!" Like a damn bat out of hell, the sludge monster couldn't react in time to avoid the flying roundhouse kick that his supposed victim sent his way. Izuku's foot smashed powerfully into his eyes, knocking them from his slimy body.
"My eyes!! My eyes!!! Oh god! What the hell is wrong with you!?!" It shrieked, thrashing about wildly. Izuku stared blankly at the monster man, eyes twitching.
What was her problem, he asked? She wasn't sure he was allowed to ask that question. She was about to walk away when the sound of someone shouting from the manhole caught her attention.
"Wait! Evildoer! You're time is now!"
Her vibrant green eyes shot open wide, her signature toothy grin forming on her face.
That voice!
It…
It could only be one man!!!
But was he even supposed to be here in town? This couldn't be true!
"Everything is alright now, citizen! Why!? Because I am here!" Bursting forth from the manhole was a truly hulking beast of a man, yellow golden blond hair pulled up into two wild bangs. It seemed he'd forgone his hero suit for the day, as he was dressed in casual green pants and a white tee shirt. "Oh… uh…" He was thrown off his game however, when he burst forth from the ground only to find that someone else had finished the job for him.
"My eyes! Oh god it hurts!!"
The number one hero stared blankly at the villain he'd been chasing, watching as he thrashed about blindly. Was he missing something here…?
"Oh my gosh! You're All Might! This is so awesome!" Izuku beamed from behind him, grinning widely up at the massive man.
"Holy-!?! Don't startle me like that!" The man recoiled at the girl that seemed to appear from behind him, grinning up at him with a wide sharp toothed smile. "Goodness young lady, you could scare someone to death like that…" The hero sighed, holding his heart.
While All Might caught his breath, Izuku was busy trying not to completely fangirl out on the man. Unfortunately for said man, Izuku was very bad at holding in her fangirl.
"A-Ah shucks… I mean… I-I didn't mean to scare yah…" She rubbed the back of her head, her cheeks red. "You can't be having civilians sneaking up on you… You're the number one hero."
The man felt a sheepish look cross his face, as he coughed into his hand. "Ah-Hah! I guess you are right! I must be off my a game today!" He laughed. ''Saved it!'' He thought victoriously.
"Now then, little lady. Are you responsible for incapacitating the villain back there?" All Might asked, pointing somewhere behind him with a thumb.
The girl threw her hands up behind her head, looking off to the side with a poorly veiled attempt at brushing off the tingling butterflies in her stomach. "Yeah. The creep snuck up on me and started ranting about filling my body or whatever. A total goon…" She said casually. All Might's eyes twitched at the way she phrased that, but he couldn't deny her actions.
"Outstanding job! I've been chasing him for the past half an hour with little success, but you seemed to have taken care of him in my stead. You're my hero today!" He couldn't have known just how powerfully those words hit the girl. A massive grin split her face, and she practically started vibrating in place. He couldn't have known that she was a sucker for compliments, especially from someone she loved and or respected.
"Oh god! My fucking eyes! I think I'm going to die!"
The two continued on, ignoring the sludge villain who was at the moment, incapacitated.
"Well, I better get this evildoer back to the station! Can't have him causing anymore trouble!" All Might stated, whipping out two extra large empty soda bottles. Izuku wasn't sure how, but the man managed to gather the entire villain into both bottles within moments. All Might casually threw them in his pockets, but perhaps he should've secured them more before leaving, lest they fall out.
She realized then that the hero planned on leaving immediately.
"A-Ah! Wait! I have a question for you!" She called out, but the hero was already bent down in a squat, ready to launch high into the sky. And suddenly her dominant attitude was back, refusing to let the man go until she got her answer.
"I'm sorry little lady! But I have no time left to dilly dally! I'll see you around!" And with that the hero launched high into the sky, soaring through the clouds.
"Goodness. I was almost out of time! I need to get to the station before anyone sees me like this…" He said to himself. The hero landed atop a tall building, not a moment later his form becoming surrounded in a cloud of steam.
"Gosh… I can't keep getting distracted like that. I've already hit my limit for today…" The man, who had within seconds reverted to a skeleton of his former self, muttered as he clutched his aching side.
"Woah, hey you alright?" Izuku spoke up, eyeing the man.
"Good god-?!" If it were possible then the hero would've jumped out of his skin at the sound of the voice speaking in his ear. He spun around to find the same girl from before standing behind him, staring at the crippled man in concern. "H-How did you..? Where did you come from?!" He exclaimed, clutching his rapidly beating heart. This girl was going to give him a heart attack!
"I grabbed your leg when you jumped! Kinda hurt my shoulders though…" She exclaimed, rubbing her sore shoulders. All Might's eyes nearly bugged out. She should've had her arms torn off if she grabbed him as he jumped. Was her quirk some kind of super strength, or perhaps resilience?
The crippled hero sighed, rubbing the palms of his hands against his head. "Well… Now you know my secret… Promise me you won't tell anyone, I can't have this getting out." He stated seriously, eyeing her with a level gaze. He wasn't sure what she'd want, or if she'd hold this over him. He knew that many people around the world would love to have this information, so he had to keep it a secret without fail.
Izuku put her hands behind her head, pushing her chest out casually. "Mkay." She shrugged, parting her lips in thought.
"…"
All Might was silent, eyeing the girl with narrowed eyes.
Izuku raised an eyebrow, her grin returning. "What? You thought you need to bribe me or something?" She snarked with a little laugh. The man broke a little smile of his own finally, taking a seat against the guardrails of the building.
"Well, if I'm being honest with you, I expected something of the sort. But I suppose I misjudged you." He shook his head. He supposed that he shouldn't always jump to conclusions.
Izuku put a finger to her lips, a thoughtful look on her face. "Well, since I've got you here alone to myself, I have a burning question for you!" She smiled. All Might sweat dropped, eyeing her with a twitching eyebrow. She grinned, leaning in close.
He supposed be spoke too soon.
"Well, fire away I suppose…" He said, raising a hand to his lips. He pulled his hand back, red blood staining his frail looking limb. He missed the fact that her pupils seemed to dilate at the sight of blood, her head cocking to the side ever so slightly.
"Can a quirkless person become a hero?" Izuku asked seriously, staring him straight in the eyes. All Might felt his expression falter, a concerned look passing through his eyes.
"A quirkless person, huh? Well… no. No I'd think not." He muttered, cupping his chin with his hand. He missed the crack in the enthusiastic girl's grin.
"The life of a hero is much too dangerous for someone without a quirk of their own. Even sometimes, for one such as myself." To make his point strike home he pulled up his lose fitting white shirt, exposing the large scars and sections of his abdomen that were damaged, or even simply missing.
"This is the result of a battle that I nearly lost, and due to this damage I can only act as a hero for three hours a day. That time is slowly dwindling as well, and one day my time in the spotlight will be over…" He shook his head.
"Listen… It's okay to dream. But you must be realistic. Someone without a quirk cannot become a hero, a police woman is a much more likely choice." He stood up, slowly moving for the exit to the roof. He felt the weight of his words sting his own heart, knowing the source of his own power was not his own.
"So you don't think I can become a hero?" He paused at the harshly pitted words, turning back to the girl with a look of surprise. Her face was scrunched up in a hateful look, not necessarily directed at him per say. She was glaring down at the city below, her gaze heated.
"That's what everyone else thinks too. I even stopped that villain for you by myself, but I'm still not even considered proper hero material." She bit out, turning on him. "Fine, say what you will. Everyone else's words won't stop me, and yours won't either." She grinned, a burning determination in her eyes, a look he immediately recognized.
"You don't need to be a super hero to save people. If I have to sacrifice myself for the safety of others…" She spoke seriously, griping her chest tightly. His eyes widened, eagerly awaiting her answer. She turned to him, that bright big smile of hers that reminded him of himself. "-then I'd do it in a heartbeat. That's what makes me a hero. I don't need someone to recognize that, but I still wish you would. Thanks for talking, it was awesome meeting you…"
All Might was speechless, trembling in awe. He almost couldn't believe his ears. He wasn't being deceived, was he?
This!
This girl!
Yes! Yes yes yes!
She understood what it meant, what it truly meant to be a hero. Her words ignited something in him, and he knew he needed to say something in return.
This girl was exactly what he was looking so desperately for.
But it wasn't only her words alone. That sludge villain she'd been assaulted by earlier she took out by herself, with absolutely no assistance from him or anyone else. It wasn't just her claim, but she had the skill and the courage to back up her words. She faced that danger head on and refused to back down, not standing idly by.
Maybe…
Maybe she could be the one.
All Might sucked in a deep breath, looking up from the ground. All he needed to do was ask her if….
"Uh.." His eyes widened as he spun around, looking for her.
She was gone!
"Curse it! She must have left when I wasn't looking!"
Indeed she had. After he went silent following her statement she assumed that he didn't believe her and quickly left.
''I didn't even get her name!'' He cursed silently, quickly rushing for the stairs. But in his condition he wasn't going anywhere fast. However, as he passed by the stairwell, the sight of smoke rising from a nearby neighborhood caught his attention.
''Another villain attack? I can't do anything about it…'' He thought with a shake of his head. He needed to find the girl then get the sludge villain back to the station to…
To…
"Shit!" He swiped at his legs, noting the distinct lack of said soda bottles he'd used to capture the villain. And with that smoke that close, it was likely the evildoer he'd thought he'd captured.
"But when?!"
When had he lost it?
His eyes widened!
Back then, when the girl grabbed hold of his leg! She must've made the bottles fall then, that had to be the only explanation!
"C-Crap! I must stop him!"
But he was out of time. And in his condition….
What could he do…?
"Who do they all think they are…?" Izuku ranted to herself, strutting aggressively down the strangely abandoned street. She was ignorant to the imprints each step she took left in the concrete, strutting forward in a heated mood.
"Who makes them the ones that get to decide? Half the hero's with quirks aren't even that strong!" She huffed, before shaking her head. She was getting way too worked up about this, and she knew it. "Whatever, I don't need anyone's approval to become a hero..." She told herself.
But…
Her stupid teacher's words just wouldn't stop repeating in her head, taunting her, mocking her.
"It's time start thinking seriously about your future."
He'd always say that, putting increased emphasis on the word seriously.
He didn't believe she was serious about her future. They all believed she was still playing around, stuck in her own little world.
But she wasn't! She was dead serious. She was more serious about this future then anything else in her life. It was where she belonged, she just knew it. So having all these people belittle her nonstop infuriated her to no end.
She had no way to prove just how much this meant to her, because her words alone would never be enough.
If something happened right now, and someone was in need of her help…
Then she'd sacrifice herself to save them. Because that's what a hero would do. Because that's what heroes were…
Izuku, too busy caught up in her own internal monologue, didn't notice until she practically bumped into someone. She looked up, having run into a literal wall of people, who were all staring at something.
Suddenly an explosion echoed out, a sound she well knew. The taller girl stood up on her toes, getting a better view of the action.
Her eyes widened, shock taking hold of her. It was the sludge villain! He'd returned.
''What!? What's this poser doing back? Didn't All Might…'' Her eyes widened even more, a chill shooting down her spine. Indeed All Might had captured the villain, but when she grabbed him, he must have lost the bottles. And now, the monster had taken control of someone with a much more powerful quirk. All the heroes were standing on the side, too afraid to rush in and save the civilian he had taken control of.
This was her fault! If only she hadn't grabbed him then none of this would've happened.
But, forgetting about that for a moment. Why the hell were the heroes not doing anything about it!? Were they not heroes? Did they not understand what it meant to be a hero!? The mountain hero Mount Lady wasn't moving in to help, the wood powers hero Kamui Woods seemed to keep his distance, and the strength hero Death Arms was merely holding back the civilians.
"Hey!" Izuku pushed her way through the crowd, grasping the arm of the strong hero, Death Arms. "What the hell is going on?! Aren't you going to save them!?" She hissed.
The man looked down at her in surprise, before his face hardened. "There's nothing we can do! We can't get in close due to those explosions! We have to wait for backup!" He exclaimed, clenching his fists. Izuku let the man go, turning back to the villain.
Those explosions! She knew them. There was only one that she knew could create power such as that.
And it was in that moment that the villain turned her way, what was still left open of the civilian's face peaking through the sludge. Her pupils dilated to points, and her heart felt like it stopped. Those red eyes, those pleading red eyes.
It was Katsuki.
"Nooo!!!" Izuku burst forward with a power she was unaware she contained, rushing the villain headfirst. Death arms tried to stop her but was slapped aside by incredibly surprising strength.
"S-Stop! You fool! You're only going to get yourself killed!" The hero shouted, cradling what felt like a dislocated arm. Izuku didn't even slow, leaving cracks in the road as she ran.
"Then it will have been worth it!" Izuku screamed. Those words gave the heroes pause.
"You again!? I'll kill you for what you did to me!" The sludge man roared out, aiming a hand at her. A wild grin suddenly split Izuku's lips, as she dropped into a slide, narrowly avoiding being blown up. With that same momentum she kicked up into a jump, mounting the villain's face. He couldn't react in time to prevent her from quite literally biting into his eye.
"My eye!! You stupid bitch!! I'll kill you!" He roared, but she'd already moved on. She landed in front of the monster, reaching into his slimy body and taking hold of Katsuki's hand.
"Kacchan! I've got you!" She grinned, pulling with all her might! To the surprise of the crowd, and the hero's too, she managed to almost pull the young man free entirely.
"D-Deku!? Wha-" Katsuki coughed, sucking in precious air. "The hell are y-you doing here?!" He shouted, but she took it in stride.
"Saving your dumb ass!" She snarked with a wild grin.
However, Izuku didn't expect that the villain would be ready to come back from her attack so soon. When he attacked earlier she had taken him down in a single swing. But he was done playing now. He was out for blood.
"Die!!" The green haired girl couldn't react in time to the large swinging hand that came her way. Katsuki was sucked back into the sludge's body, and was forced to fire off a powerful explosion.
"Kuh!!" The attack hit her square in the stomach, sending her flying away into a nearby collapsing building.
"Izuku!! Nooo!!" Katsuki cried out, before his face too was covered by the villain. The villain started firing off more explosions, using Katsuki's quirk to start even more fires and senseless destruction.
"Shit! Did he just kill her?!" Death Arms shouted.
"Damnit! We need someone better!" Kamui Woods shouted, hovering a short distance away. The flames were too much for his wooden quirk to handle.
"I can't get in there, I'll flatten everyone!" Mount Lady boomed.
''Pathetic! I'm pathetic!'' Just behind the crowd was the number one, having finally caught up to the action. He was wheezing, blood leaking from his lips. Just running over made him feel like he was going to die.
He got there just in time to see the girl from before rush in to save the young man, only for her to get blown away. He clutched at his aching side, cursing his own weakness.
''She's in there fighting while I'm failing to live up to my own words!'' He couldn't stand here and do nothing, especially since none of the other hero's were going to stop the villain.
He was about to power up, gathering what little remained of his strength. But his and many others attention was drawn to the flaming building the girl had been tossed into. Out of the fire and destruction walked the girl, clothing torn and blood covering her body. But what was more eye catching was the bright green glow to her eyes, eyes that had locked onto the sludge villain.
Izuku shambled forwards, her body bruised and battered. But she didn't stop, and soon bent down low into a sprint.
"You again!? Why won't you die?!" The sludge man roared, aiming another explosion at her. It hit her in the face, her neck snapping backwards. Her face split open, blood flying everywhere. The crowds screamed, and the news crew debated whether or not they should even be showing this.
But to the villain's horror she straitened back up and continued forward, ignorant or nonplussed by the damage she'd been taking nonstop.
"Y-You! What is with you! You're a monster!!" The villain stumbled back, for the first time afraid.
"Kacchan! Give him back to me!" Izuku shouted, rushing forwards. She once again dodged an explosion aimed at her face, slipping past the attacks and taking hold of the blond she called friend. "Let him go!!" She planted her feet, and with a twist and a sharp pull she ripped him free from the villain's grasp.
"N-No!! My super strong body!! You'll pay for this!" The sludge man shouted. But his vows of vengeance was soon put down as the legend himself, All Might appeared behind the crowd of civilians.
"Not on my watch! I've had about enough of your games, villain!" There was an explosion of power as the hero rushed forwards, and with a battle cry reduced the villain to pieces.
The second the coast was clear, the pro heroes rushed in, quickly gathering together the villain before he could reform.
Police on the scene rushed Izuku and the blond she carried bridal style in her arms, but she couldn't bother looking at them. No, she was busy staring down at the surprised red orbs that locked gaze with her own.
Katsuki was still busy catching his breath after being choked practically to death, but he almost couldn't believe what happened. And, he wasn't embarrassed to say that he really enjoyed the position he found himself in, carried by the very girl he'd grown up trying to protect.
"I told you…. Kacchan…" Izuku breathed out, her green eyes glowing a bright vibrant green. "I told you… that I'd… be a hero… in the end…"
"I-Izuku… You… Your quirk…" Katsuki breathed out, eyes trembling. His mind was reeling, and he couldn't have been more overjoyed by the revelation.
Finally, sixteen plus years after her birth, her quirk finally emerges. She set him back on his feet, smiling down at him. The blonde went to say something, to speak up, but…
He was distracted by a wet sensation splattered across his chest. He looked down, noting the aggressive amount of blood that covered his lower half.
But…
It wasn't his…
He started trembling, and with ice filling his veins he looked down to the girl that saved him. He sucked in a breath.
"Medic!! Someone get a fucking medic over here!" He screamed, reaching out to grab the girl that suddenly collapsed. Izuku lost all her strength, her head lolling back as she fell into Katsuki's arms.
"Hey… What's... happening…?" Izuku asked tiredly, her eyes fluttering. She looked down, noting the multiple bars of steel sticking out of her chest, one right through her heart. "O-Oh..."
"No.. no no no…. No no no no no no no!" The blond practically chanted, keeping her gaze on him. "You can't die… You weren't supposed to die!" He shouted.
Already medical staff and police officer surrounded them, rushing to her aid. But, when they saw the damage, they knew that there was nothing they could do.
It was a twisted miracle that she still lived to this moment.
All Might rushed over to her, bent down on one knee. His hands were shaking, as he struggled to hold together his form, and his emotions. Izuku looked up to him, eyeing that familiar looking mountain of a man with a fanged grin.
"See… All Might… I told you I could… be a hero…" She breathed out, then before everyone's eyes, her chest stopped moving. Her eyes twitched, head lolling to the side, eyeing the hero dead in the eyes. All Might was silent, watching her last moments, and there was nothing he nor anyone could do.
She was supposed to become his next quirk bearer, the successor he'd been looking for. But as she lay dead, seconds away from the end, he knew that'd never happen.
"He's special… so… make him the best hero… for me…" She grinned widely, despite her dire condition. The number one hero nodded, not saying a word. She turned back to Katsuki, his pupils the size of needles, refusing to take his gaze off of her. "I lov-"
"…"
"Izuku…?" Katsuki breathed. Her eyes were wide, that large sharp toothed grin that he knew and loved spread across her face.
But, that light was gone.
She was gone…
"Come on… You can't leave me…" He muttered, shaking her. Even now, after she'd passed, that grin remained on her face, as if she was telling him that it was going to be alright. He was ignorant to the hot tears that had been streaming down his cheeks, falling onto her own bloodied and damaged face.
He was blank. His heart just lost everything, and he was left feeling empty. He wanted to scream, to let it all out. He wanted to blow the sludge man into pieces, then vaporize what little remained. But he didn't…
When the news crew came, and the police came to help him, when they pried her cold dead body from his trembling hands, he was silent. His eyes were vacant, and gaining a verbal response from him was impossible.
The pro heroes on the scene commended him for being so strong, and even offered to take him as an apprentice when he graduated from a hero school.
But none of that mattered to him. Their words were just words, and the only words that he could remember were her last words to him. The last thing she said before she passed.
She was a hero. She saved him, sacrificing herself if needed just like she said she would. She said she'd do anything for him once before, and he only now realized the weight of her words.
If she were still here, then he'd make her promise to never sacrifice herself for him. She could do everything in her power to save someone, anything but sacrificing herself for them. He knew he was being selfish, but he didn't care.
Maybe if she was a little bit selfish too she'd still…
Maybe she'd still be here, holding him like she did before…
All Might was overtaken by the crowd of onlookers and the news crew. He was out of time and still hadn't the chance to speak to Katsuki. He would follow through with the girl's last request of him. It was the least he could do for her, after she did what no one else, neither the pro heroes nor he himself could manage.
She saved the lives of all the people watching, preventing the villain from attacking them and saving the life of her dear friend.
All it took was her life, and she gladly gave it with a smile, knowing that Katsuki would be safe.
But to the blond in question…
It might as well have been the same as if he died anyway, because without Izuku beside him.
He felt like there was nothing left…
The following day had a funeral planned for the Midoriya family's only daughter, and to many's surprise, more then a few appeared.
From the school she went to, many students that had at one point in time scolded her for her dreams, belittled her ideals, and mocked her, had appeared to see her off. The battle of that day had been all over the news, and the entire school and more had bore witness to Izuku's show of heroism. To hear her declarations for years, then the see her completely and utterly go through with it, despite what they all said.
It was safe to say that many had begun questioning what was really important in their lives, and if it could matter to them the same way Katsuki mattered to her, that she'd so easily and so quickly throw away her own life to let one other live.
All the students that had planned on trying for the hero course had suddenly dropped out, the reality of such a profession hitting them like a ton of bricks. They weren't prepared for that future, and from their reactions, they knew that it wasn't likely that they'd ever be.
They knew that without her interference, that the strongest hero candidate from the school, one Katsuki Bakugo, would be dead. The quoted boy that stood far above the rest of them, the one that the entire school practically backed and promoted for the hero profession, would not be here without her.
And after all was said and done, and Katsuki watched in silence as she was placed in a casket and buried right before his very eyes, he felt his determination to see her dream through to the end come alive with the flames of hell. He'd become the best hero, so that maybe, in a way Izuku would live on through him, her dream becoming his dream.
His mother and father comforted the weeping Inko, giving her their love and support in such a tragic time.
The blond was crying too, face a stern look as still as stone, tears leaking from his boiling rage filled red eyes. People would try to comfort him, but he wanted none of it. Everyone around him, everyone that had decided to show their faces at her funeral, he wanted none of their words. Their words meant nothing to him.
It hurt, to know that he couldn't turn that hatred onto anyone specific. The monster responsible was behind bars permanently, never to be let free again. But even then, if the sludge villain hadn't done what he did, he knew that would've only been a matter of time before a similar scenario took place and she was would throw away her life to let him live.
Drowning out the noise around him, he reached into his pants pocket. He pulled out a card, with the face of the number one hero, All Might plaster across the front.
Before he left the day of her murder, All Might gave him his personal card, his phone number written down on it.
He said that when he was ready to become a hero, to give him a call.
That was Izuku's last request, before she died. She asked the man to help make him into the best hero in the world, and he promised that he'd do so.
Katsuki felt like it was time to take the hero up on his promise, because now, there wasn't anything better to do.
"I'll become the best damn hero this world has ever seen… watch me!" He promised to himself, tears pouring down his cheeks. He didn't care who saw him, they didn't matter. Nothing but this dream of his mattered anymore.
And speaking of that dream?
He planned to see it fulfilled.
