Aragorn watched as his friends settled down to sleep. The man 's best friend, Legolas was missing however. He sighed as he slowly turned from camp,He was tired but his need of sleep could wait. It was no more than a few paces from where their camp had been sat up that he found Legolas. The elf was leaning his forehead on a mellorn tree when the man came closer he saw the elf's whole body was shaking badly. Aragorn placed his hand on his friend's shoulder.

" Mellon nin, how long have you been like this?"

"Since Gandalf fell...."

The man frowned upon hearing how weak the elf's voice sounded. He tightend his hold on his friend his worry all consumeing.

" Legolas, look at me!"

His friend shakely raised his head to meet his friend's troubled gaze. The elf's eyes where swimming and his whole face was red with the effert he was using to hold back his sobs. Aragorn gently took his hand from his friend's shoulder and lightly touched his friend's cheek.

"Mellon nin, "

Here Aragorn paused not sure exactly what to say to his long time friend. The man bowed his head he too wanted to cry. He couldn't believe their best friend had died. He felt choked up even thinking about it.

" I'm so sorry, Estel...."

The elf pulled the human close and Aragorn put his arms around his long time friend.

" Here I am trying to comfort you and all I'm doing is failing!"

Aragorn whispered.

"No, Estel. We both need to grieve."

Aragorn sank to his knees and his friend followed. The man could see nothing expect for a big blur as his friend held him close. He felt how wettness trailed down his cheeks as he leaned against his friend.

"Thank you for coming to find me...."

Legolas whispered his own tears falling freely.

"You would do the same for me..."

Aragorn replyed. They sat together in silence as they cried for along time then the silence was broken by a tiny laugh from Legolas. Aragorn glanced at his friend in wonder and the elf smiled saddly.

"Remember the time Pippin and Merry put a frog in Mithrandir's sleeping bag?"

Aragorn nodded and chuckled.

"That was the loudest I've heard Mithrandir scream."

Legolas smiled as Aragorn reminded him of the time the wizard had saved their necks from Legolas' father when the orcs had stoled their horses and they had to find shelter in a rather small cave.

"We have so many memeries of him."

Legolas whispered. Aragorn sighed and laid his head on his knees the elf softly touched his shoulder.

"Estel?"

Aragorn gave a weak smile to his friend.

"I'm still going to miss him!"

"So am I, Estel. We all will."

Aragorn sighed and rose slowly and Legolas followed suite.

"Come we must get back to the others before sunrise."

They walked side by side knowing the days ahead would be hard but they would get though them their friendship would lead the way no matter what happend.
