A Very Weasley Christmas Eve

December 24, 1990

"Fred! George!" Molly Weasley exclaimed as she bustled from the kitchen into the family room, "what did you put in the eggnog?"

"Now mother-," Fred began.

"Why in the world-," George continued.

"Would you think we would ruin the holiday spirit-," Fred said.

"By spiking the eggnog!" George exclaimed.

Molly shook her head, turned around, and tended to the turkey with a wave of her wand. Meanwhile Bill and Ron were playing an intense game of wizard chess while being watched Percy and Mr. Weasley. Charlie and Ginny were having a snowball fight against Fred and George. Bill and Ron decided to go outside and participate in the snowball fight. They decided on a three versus three set-up. The teams were Bill, George, and on versus Charlie, Fred, and Ginny. Bill and Charlie conjured snow forts for their teams. After a few minutes of meaningless catapults of snow, Charlie disappeared. When he returned he was hiding two brooms behind his back. He tossed one to George and Ginny who gathered snow and kicked off the ground. In no time this strategy helped Charlie, George, and Ginny win by a landslide. Soon after six snow coved figures trudged into the burrow only to be yelled at to take off their soaked boots. After they had changed out of their snow attire, six Weasleys traveled downstairs for Christmas Eve dinner.

The table was filled with sumptuous foods from turkey to stuffing to applesauce. Everyone had at least two servings of everything, except Ron who had four. Mrs. Weasley, as the dinner plates were cleared away, summoned a dessert of treacle tart. Since everyone was so full they all had ne serving, except Ron who had three.

"Do you each want to open one present tonight," Molly asked.

"Yes!" exclaimed the group.

They moved into the living room where Ginny was about open her first present, from Fred and George. She ripped apart the wrapping and found what appeared to be a doll. Ginny gave it a puzzled look until its head popped off and Bertie Bott's Every Flavored Beans spilled onto her lap. She smiled at Fred and George and popped a few beans unto her mouth. Ron was next and he received a Chudley Canons book from Charlie, which he eagerly began to read. Fred and George each opened a box from Zonko's, which Bill had given them, and shared an identical grin. Percy opened a new quill and parchment set given to him by his parents. Charlie laughed as he skimmed through a book of colorfully hand drawn dragons, which he received from Ginny. Bill thanked Ron for a box of Fizzing Whizbees, which were his favorites. Molly and Arthur received a joint gift from all of their children, which was a framed collage of wizard photographs of memories the Weasleys shared together. Arthur thanked his children warmly, and Molly had tears in her eyes as she hung the picture on the wall. After a cup of steaming hot chocolate, nine sleepy bodies were trudging up the Burrow's rickety stairs, and a few minutes later nine red heads fell on to nine fluffy pillows.
