For the purpose of these stories, all character are always magically resurrected.
One day, Klaus was reading a book. It was about lily pads. It was 583 pages long, with 18 colour illustrations.
On page one, Klaus learned about the author's fascination with lily pads as a child.
On page 332, Klaus learned that the lily pad was a pink and green plant.
On page 447, Klaus reached the colour illustrations. One was a famous painting by Monet. Another was a photograph of a frog on a lily pad.
On the penultimate page of the book, Klaus learned that lily pads were a delicacy for some cultures. Klaus was about to read the last page when he heard one of his sisters calling. Though they were 14 years apart in age, Violet and Sunny had the same voice. Anyway, with their persistent calling, Klaus went out, leaving the lily pad book unfinished. A first for him.
When he went out he saw a lily pad. Remembering that it was a delicacy for some cultures, Klaus ate it. Unfortunately, the culture it was a delicacy for was a culture of the bacteria of rotten meat. After living on carnivorous filth, they had all turned vegetarian. Some of this culture was on the lily pad when Klaus rudely devoured it (and them). So Klaus got a stomach ache and died, and he never learned which sister was calling him.
