Hood Street, New Manassas, Reach
United Species Federation Fortress Planet
13:29 Hours, New Manassas Time
Hood street, a Main Street in New Manassas, only second to the re-built New Alexandria. Reach had been glassed, yet re-terraformed.
Hood street is named after Fleet Admiral Hood, who led the UNSC to victory in the Human-Convenant War. This street hosts the Manassas Central Airbase, and the famous Fort Keyes Military District, home to the garrison of 10,000 Marines.
Lieutenant Josh Duvat yawned, and walked out of the main gate of Fort Keyes. He was once a marine, yet after being honourably discharged, was commissioned as a officer in the Navy.
The Street was full of life, with off-duty marines, students, sailors, officers, and families filing it. Then he remembered. Today was 3'rd March, 2853, Unity Day. Marking the end of the Human-Convenant War, three centuries ago, and the formation of the United Species Federation, One and a half centuries ago.
He walked to a nearby Starbucks. Looking around, he saw Sangheli, Unggoy, Mon Calamari, Chiss, Jiralhanae, humans and more living in harmony. People waving tiny flags of the United Species Federation, in celebration of Unity Day. USF Fighters fly above in formation, for all to see.
Josh slowly sipped his coffee. Looking outside, he remembered his family back on Earth. Picking up his phone, he dialled his family. His wife immediately picked up. He smiled at the sight of his family,
Suddenly, a large " CRASH!" was heard. He looked at the street, and recoiled in shock as a huge… Gate? Appeared. Police officers slowly approached this gate, and suddenly, it opened.
Thousands of men, in what looked like… Roman-styled armour? Wait… Are those Orcs? What the hell is going on? Those… Men started swinging around, as police officers unholdstered their pistols.
The police officers managed to kill a lot of these… Romans, yet they were swarmed and killed. Immediately, he ended the call, and pulled out his faithful M62C Eagle pistol. Running out of the store, he raised his pistol. One of those Romans ran at him, and lining up his shot, he fired.
A 12.7x40 mm HE/SAP/PC Projectile flew out of the barrel, flying through the sky, and pierced that Roman's armour. The round exploded in the man's chest, causing a large mess.
Civilians ran through Hood Street, towards the Military base. Marines cut down the Romans with Plasma and Gunfire. Swords deflected off the Shields of Marines, as a large WOOSH sound spread amongst the street. A D-80-X Pelican Dropship filed over the street, firing on the Romans below with it's machine guns, cannons, and rocket pods.
A UNSCDF M12-X Commandant Urban Fighting Vehicle's 25mm Rotary Autocannon's rounds lit up the skies, as corpses of literal dragons fall, being torn apart by the High-explosive shells.
Josh directed civilians towards the Evacuation zone. Firing towards the crowd of Romans, he killed and wounded many. As his pistol clicked empty, he rapidly reloaded, barely managing to keep the Romans off the civilians.
Finally, the cavalry arrived. Tiltrotors and Pelicans flew in, dropping off Marines and ODST's. Josh breathed loudly, it was over.
A marine approached him, and guided him towards a warthog. Getting in the warthog, only now he realised he had a huge gash from a sword in his shoulder.
The next several hours passed in a flash. When he woke up again, his shoulder was bandaged, and he was in the hospital.
He turned on the TV in his private hospital room, as the news was on.
" Welcome to United Species Central News, I am Emily Wong. A few hours ago, a so called 'Gate' appeared on Hood Street, New Manassas, Reach. A huge amount of what seemed like ancient Human Roman troops surged out of the gate, causing chaos. Only with the help of a Navy officer who is referred to as " Josh", was many people saved. The USF Senate is currently in session on Unity Station. This horrible attack laid on the 300'rd Anniversary of the Human-Convenant War. People applaud the rapid response of the USSC and the UNSC Defence Forces. We will be updating you on the latest news."

United Species Federation Senate
Unity Station
16:41 Hours, Unity Standard Time
The feminine sound of the AI, CRM-2410235-28 Carmen, the Speaker of the assembly filled the chamber.
" The United Species Federation Senate is now in Session. This emergency Session of the Senate is due to a unknown 'Gate suddenly appearing on Hood Street, New Manassas, Reach. President Zurom, please,"
The Sangheili President spoke up.
" My Fellow people. At approximately 1:29 PM New Mallasas Time, a Gate appeared on Hood street. Researchers suspects that this Gate is a slipspace gate, leading to a planet right outside the galactic rim. This civillization on the other side is extremely similar to Ancient Romans.
I propose to the USF Senate to send an Expeditary Marine force through this gate, to gather information and coordinates of this world, and prepare for a naval deployment.
The representatives in the Senate tapped at their pads.
The vote was obvious.
2529 Was for it, and 471 was against.
Thus, the United Species Federation's Vehicles rumbled, troops
At the ready for deployment into combat, and their guns loaded.
The United Species Federation is ready.
