AN: This starts about 3 months after the breakup. Starting during the party. The first Chapter and perhaps some of the second there will be some overlap, but I will do my best to get to the new story line*

A Second Chance Ch. 1

Sitting on the porch, Happy watched as she laughed with Abel, his eyes raking over every inch of her. Leaning back in the chair, sipping his beer his brain kept playing the last time he held her, touched her, inside of her. He was such a fucking moron, he remembered standing in Abel's room when he was still in the hospital, telling her that he wanted a baby. But the moment there was a possibility he freaked out, feeling like such a fucking pussy.

He wanted to slap himself for reacting the way he did, it was something that he constantly felt guilt and regret over. Turning his head, he could feel Opie watching him. Looking at his brother, "What?"

Holding his hands up, Opie didn't even know what to say to the man, "You could always try apologizing." For what no one really knew what happened between them, but Opie made a guess it was something he did. Happy wasn't the normal guy in a relationship, and it surprised him that he lasted that long in one.

Dropping his cigarette, he looked over at him, "Maybe." Standing up, he made his way inside, finding her on the floor playing with Abel. It just drove his guilt into over-drive, but as she stood to say hello to everyone, it surprised him when she stood and smiled at him.

"Hey Happy." Giving him a small smile. Luna could see that him tense up at her words. It felt good to keep her heart from beating out of her chest, taking the time to heal was the best choice she could have made, while she would miss their relationship on some levels, he wasn't her long haul.

Watching her stare at him, her bright green eyes staring at him. "Hey Little girl." Feeling his throat close up as he spoke to her. Taking her in, his eyes roamed down to see her very flat belly. Confused, he knew that she would have a small bump by now. Shaking his head, he would definitely get answers, but he'll let this shit slide, it was a party for Abel.

After a few hours of enjoying the party, Happy watched as she made her way outside, taking a second to gather his thoughts he followed her outside. Seeing Otto head inside, he made his way towards her as she opened her truck door. Smiling as she tensed, he always appreciated her ability to sense when someone was near her.

"I'll be fine stop worrying." Luna said to the person behind her.

Smiling at her, "Can't help it little girl." His voice tight from speaking with her. His eyes looking down at her stomach, still curious to what was going on.

Luna stared at him, she was ready to go, "Happy, I really need to go." Hoping that he wasn't going to push the issue, but that was always a gamble with Happy.

Stepping a bit closer to her, "I'll take you." His eyes never leaving hers, he needed to talk to her, he had a million questions, but mostly he just needed to apologize.

Letting out a deep sigh, Luna shook her head, "No, you won't. I don't want to do this before I go, whatever you need to say can wait until I get back." Taking a second to give him a once over, she jumped into the truck and made her way to the airport.

Happy watched as her taillights rounded the corner, he was livid, a little at her, but mostly at himself, he could see it in her eyes, she moved on. Hanging his head, he turned and could see Jax watching the whole thing, feeling a little exposed, he headed for his bike and made his way back to the club house.

Walking towards his dorm, he had to dodge the whores in the club, but it was Ima that kept pushing up on him.

"Need any company?" Ima asked him. While her heart was still set on Jax, Happy would do in a pinch.

Even when he first came back to the club, Ima and the other croweaters he avoided, not that he was a saint by any means, but some where in the back of his mind, if there was ever a chance for him and Luna, he wouldn't touch them.

Grabbing her by her shoulders, he pushed her into the wall holding her there, "I've told you more than once you used up whore, back off." Moving around her, he made his way inside his dorm, slamming the door and locking it.

Throwing himself on the bed, he stared at the ceiling, all he wanted was his girl back, but even briefly speaking with her, he knew that would be a near impossible task. For the first time in many years, he truly regretted not being able to control his temper. She was his old lady, and he treated her like some common whore. Closing his eyes, he just let his body fall asleep, not even wanting to drink, or be around his brothers his heart was finally feeling the breakup for what it was, him being a fucking asshole.

Happy watched as Kip walked into Church, he could tell the guy was excited, tonight he was planning on putting his crow on Lyla. A part of him was pissed, his old lady should be there, but now the table was looking at him, making sure that it was OK she was even allowed on the lot. How the hell did it get like this?

Shaking his head, his eyes landing on the President, "Of course. She's welcome, never wasn't." Feeling like a piece of shit for this, he set this in motion.

His dark eyes watching as each of the other members agreed to her coming. Grateful that he would finally have another opportunity to talk to her. He needed to, he wanted to.

Stepping outside, he needed air, for the last hour he watched her sit with Lyla, her eyes watching her friend, talking her through the pain. His body aching to be near her, touch her, but he was fairly certain if he made a move to touch her, she would have slapped him, and told him to keep his hands to himself. Not that he could blame her, he treated her like such shit.

His eyes saw her walking out, seeing that she was making her way to the table with the other ladies, not wanting to wait another second, he made his way to her, stepping out in front of her effectively stopping her in her tracks. His eyes watching her watch him, "We need to talk, now." Motioning for her to follow him.

Luna felt nervous, she really didn't want to be alone with him, but she knew that her options were either follow him or have him start shit in the middle of the party, which would be embarrassing as fuck or worse people would learn what the reason was for their breakup. Letting out a sigh, she followed him towards the garage area, hoping at least Gemma would see her.

Her eyes finding his, "So, talk." Not wanting to antagonize him, but she didn't want to spend too much time doing this.

Unable to keep the smirk off his face, one thing that he always appreciated about her, she didn't play coy, she always got to the point. "How have you been little girl?" Wanting to know that she was OK.

Luna watched him, surprised that he even asked, "I'm good Happy." Looking at him she could see his eyes settling on her stomach again, "Just ask Happy." Wanting to get this part of the interrogation over with.

Observing her, he could tell that she wasn't really comfortable being alone with him, rolling his toothpick in his mouth, "Why aren't you pregnant? Did you get the abortion?" Scared that she did something that she didn't want to because she was afraid of him.

Taking a second to get her breathing under control, while she knew she could take care of herself, if she reacted the way she wanted to, she was fairly certain that she would end up in a shallow grave. "I was never pregnant, you just assumed I was."

Seeing his body shake, Luna took a step back, not exactly sure what he would do to her.

Happy felt his blood boil, she wasn't pregnant? What the fuck? Looking down at her, he could see her fear. Not wanting to scare her, he took a second to calm himself, "Why didn't you fucking tell me? Could have saved us a lot of trouble." Not understanding why she didn't come to him.

Biting the inside of her cheek, Luna watched as he calmed down, figuring this would probably be the only chance for her to just let it out, "Really, when was I supposed to tell you that? Hmm? When you were yelling at me? Or when you were cutting me off before I could speak? Or I know, throwing cash at me like I was 2-dollar whore, telling me to get an abortion?" Taking another step back, she needed to keep her voice calm, or he would go off.

Letting out another breath, she looked at him, seeing the hurt in his eyes, "So, tell me Happy, when was I supposed to talk? After you told me that I wasn't your old lady?"

Hearing how he treated was like another punch to the gut, God was he that much of an asshole? Knowing that she was right, he took a step towards her. "I was angry. I'm sorry. OK? We can try to fix this shit." Hoping that she would give him a chance.

She couldn't believe his arrogance, shaking her head. "What incentive do I have to fix this? I needed you to listen to me Happy, I needed you treat me with respect, I needed your loyalty, the thing I gave you and this club from the moment we met." Taking a step back, "I'm sorry, but I didn't come here to start any drama, I'll leave."

Happy watched her, he could see that she wasn't kidding, she was willing to walk away from the club, and from him to keep this shit from spilling out to Lyla's party. Feeling even more like a piece of shit, he just looked down at her, he knew he fucked up. "No, stay Lyla needs her friend."

Turning around he made his way back towards the clubhouse, he needed to figure out what the hell his problem was. He had a great girl, never once treating him like a bank account or even using him for his status in the club. Sitting in the corner, he grabbed a beer, letting his mind think over everything he did wrong to her, hoping that she would give him a chance to make this right.

Opie and Otto followed them when they saw him walk with her, while he was their brother, neither would allow him to hurt her. But hearing what happened, and why they broke up, was enough to make both of them want to beat his ass.

Opie looked at Otto, "We need to tell Jax." Knowing as President he needed to know what was going on his in Charter, but other than that, he wasn't sure what could be done.

Otto just nodded, his heart broke for the girl, he cared about her, if he was being honest, he loved her like his own kid. Turning to Opie, "Yeah. You go handle that." Making his way towards Bobby, needing the calming presence of his friend.

Sitting in the corner, he watched as Luna ran as fast as she could towards Luanne, not even missing a beat as she tossed her keys. Seeing her jump in and whip the car around the corner, he stood and made his way towards Tig who seemed to have called Luanne over.

Gemma turned her attention to Happy; she knew what he did to her, and if she didn't have respect for the SONs, she would have knocked him on his ass the first time she saw him. Her eyes locking on his, enjoying seeing his discomfort. "This on you?" she spat at him.

Feeling everyone turn their attention to him, he could see some anger coming from Gemma, and Otto, hell even Opie was glaring at him, "No, it wasn't." As far as he knew when he walked away from her, she was heading back to the party. Now, he was worried, she wouldn't have taken off like that unless something happened, "We need to find her."

Opie didn't understand, what sent her running, or even how they were going to find her. "How? We don't even know where she's going."

Jax rubbing his beard, "Get Juice to track her phone, find her." Looking around the crew, "Everyone stick close, we are going to find out what happened, we might need to leave quicky."

Hours passed, and his temper was rising on her way out of the club, she dropped her phone, and Juice wasn't able to open the damn thing. Happy was going to strangle her when he saw her again. But right now, his concern was hoping to find her, and make sure that she was safe.

Happy's concentration was broken by a frantic Gemma, screaming about Luna going after Darby. Standing up he moved towards her, finding himself next to Jax.

Gemma let out a ragged breath, "JAX, she's going after Darby." She yelled out to the club.

Jax stood up, "WHAT? WHY?" he asked. His eyes watching Happy go from worried to furious in a matter of moments.

"Charlie her friend from work died in surgery, his last words for Luna were "Tell Luna, Darby." Jax, she's going to hunt him down and kill him. You need to stop her, please. Jax." Gemma wasn't one to beg, but she wanted to protect her friend, her daughter.

The room was eerily silent. Jax rubbed his face, "Jesus Christ." Looking over at Juice, "Find Darby, NOW."

Juice grabbed his laptop and started typing as quickly as he could, he could feel everyone staring at him, he wanted to get this information right. Looking at his screen, Darby had two phones, one was at the edge of Lodi, the other was closer to Oakland. "There's two possibilities, one in Lodi, one in Oakland. I don't know which one she's going to, are we even sure that she knows where she's going?"

Clay looked at Happy, "You ever tell her where his houses were?"

Happy thought back on everything he's ever told her, "No, I didn't, but she's not stupid Clay, she's gonna find out where he is."

Otto knew that was true, Luna was very smart, and resourceful. "We got to split up, we need to hit all 3 of his places, Hair Dog, the one in Lodi, and Oakland." Looking at Jax, it was his decision to make. "What do you want to do Prez?"

Looking around the room, "Split up, Otto, Tig, Juice, you guys hit the dog, Happy, Bobby, Opie, you hit Lodi, everyone else round up, you're with me." Stopping to think, they'd never make it to Oakland before her, reaching into his pocket, he dialed.

"What's good Ese?"
No time for pleasantries.
"Need a favor, man."
"What you need?"
"Luna is going after Darby, he killed her friend, if she's heading to Oakland, she's got a head start we won't catch her. I need you to sit on his house and stop her before she does something she'll regret."
"Shit, OK, me and couple of the guys will head over, what she look like?"
"Thanks, she's about 5'3, blonde hair, she was wearing a red tank top when she left the clubhouse."
"Got it, call you if she shows up."

Hanging up, he could see the questions on all their faces, "I called Alvarez, if she's heading to Oakland, we won't get to her, he's closer."

Gemma held her breath, this was dangerous, if Luna in her rage attacked the Mayans the peace that was finally felt between the clubs would be compromised. She watched as the guys filed out, she was hot on their heels, "Bring her home Jax."

Kicking his bike into gear, "We will." With that they headed out. The roar of the club taking off shook the windows.

Happy was shaking, he wanted to find her and quickly, if she killed someone because she was angry, when that settled, he wouldn't want her living with that kind of guilt. Pushing his bike towards Lodi, hoping that was where she was heading.

Opie felt his phone ringing. "Is she at the Dogg?" he asked Chibs.

"Nah, she's heading to Oakland, Jax want's everyone else to head back to the club."

"OK, will do." Opie turned towards Happy and Bobby, "She's heading to Oakland, Jax wants us heading back to the club." Seeing Happy tense at those words.

Happy was pissed off, before they made it to Lodi, Opie got the call that they had Luna, but instead of heading towards Oakland they were told to head back to the clubhouse. Looking at Opie, "This is bullshit. She's my old lady."

Opie's eyes turned on his brother, "No, you're not, for months you been telling anyone that you don't have one." Stepping closer to him, "I know what you did to her, you have no claims over her."

His eyes went wide, he knew that Luna wouldn't talk about their shit to the club, "What the fuck are you talking about." Knowing that no matter what was going on with him an Luna, she would never talk about their shit to anyone.

Bobby was torn, he didn't want brothers to fight, but he was curious to see where this was going. He kept quiet.

Frustrated at his arrogance, Opie just snapped, "You telling her to get an abortion, throwing money at her like she was some croweater. Otto and I were looking at my knuckle head last night when we heard you."

Taking a step back, "So, if Jax says we go back to the club, that's what we do." Turning his around he mounted his bike bringing it to life. He looked over and could see the stunned look on his face, he waited, but soon Happy got on his bike and took off towards Charming. Opie looked at Bobby giving him a nod.

Bobby was shocked, disrespecting an old lady is such a manner, he knew that Happy had no idea what that meant. Looking back at Opie, all he could was shake his head, and head home. He knew that if Opie knew it was only a matter of time before the club knew, the younger members were about to get a lesson in the bi-laws of the club.

By the time he reached the club, he didn't speak to anyone, just made his way into his dorm, he wasn't fit for company. Taking off his kutte, he laid down in bed, his mind racing wanting to know that she was safe, but more than that, he could see the look of disgust in Opie's eyes.

He couldn't blame him, hell if Opie or any one of his brothers would have treated their old lady like that, he'd probably look at them like that too.
Knowing that there was nothing for him to do but wait, he let himself fall asleep, his mind however, still racing hoping there was a chance, but the more he looked at the situation as a whole, he knew, deep in his soul that it was over.

TIME JUMP 2 Days

Happy was broken. Looking at himself in the mirror he could see the bruises that were forming on his face, carefully taking the bandages off his face he could see that most of the cuts were healing. Gently wiping his face, his mind racing about everything that has happened in the last few days.

Handing his personal shit with Jax, on the surface was good for the club, but knowing that Luna was now committing herself to Jax, to protect Abel, truly broke him. He completely understood what she was doing, and why she was, but knowing that Jax was going to be living his life with her, holding her, fucking her, was almost enough to send him back on the road as a Nomad.

Hell, he was so fucking tempted to, but it was like Gemma could read his mind, thinking back to that conversation after the fight in the ring.

FLASHBACK

Hearing Bobby call an end to the fight, brought him back to the present, seeing his President with a busted lip and a few bruises on his face, it helped knowing that he was able to cause a little damage to him. But if he was being honest, he knew that it wasn't going to fix the feeling of despair that was coursing though his body.

Making his way out towards his dorm, wanting to shower. As he shut the door, and stepped into the shower, he let the blood wash off his body, but as the water started to run clear, Happy couldn't control his emotions any longer, and for the first time since he was a kid, he cried.

Not knowing how long he stood in the shower, but by the time he realized that he needed to get out of the water it was ice cold.

Taking the time to dress himself, he slipped on his kutte and made his way out to the garage. Needing to occupy his mind, he picked up a wrench and started working on the first car that was closest too him.

Gemma watched him for an hour, she could see that he was barely holding his shit together, and while she was grateful that things were falling into place for her son, she could see that for him, his world was crashing. While she hated what he did do Luna, she couldn't let him suffer much longer, by the looks of him he was ready to head back to the road.

Something in her gut told her that if she didn't intervene, he would head out, lose what little humanity he had, and in truth Gemma couldn't let that happen. Luna changed him, made him a better man, it would be a shame for all that to just disappear.

Stepping out, she lit her cigarette her eyes sweeping the garage, grateful that no one was in there. Taking a seat next to him, she watched him tense. "Relax, we need to have a talk."

Happy looked down at Gemma, tossing the wrench in the box, "What exactly do we have to discuss."

Anyone else that would have spoken to her that way, she would have slapped the shit out of them, but she gave him a pass, for now. "I get you're going through some shit, so I'm gonna let that shit slide." Taking another hit, let the smoke billow out of her mouth, "Sit." Pointing to the chair next to her.

Pulling the chair up, he sat down, biting his tongue, while he could inherently tell her to back off, he really wasn't in the mood for more shit from his brothers. Giving her a look to start the conversation, he took a smoke out lighting it.

Knowing that she only had few minutes to get what she needed to say out, Gemma got right to the point. "What you did was some bullshit, and right now you're feeling that weight." Letting out another wave of smoke, "But you run, go Nomad because of it, the respect you got from the table for agreeing to his new arrangement you'll lose all of it."

Standing up, Gemma touched his shoulder, "You're a lot of things Hap, but someone to run because shit got tough, isn't one of them." With that she made her way out the door and home to Abel.

Happy watched as Gemma got into her truck, taking a slow pull from his smoke. Absorbing her words, at first, he was pissed that she would call him a coward, but he could respect that she had the balls to say something.

END FLASHBACK

Sitting in his dorm, he shook his head clear, while he would miss her with every fiber of his being, Happy made a promise to himself in that moment, he would give himself a little time to mourn the loss of his first and only love, but after a little time, he would give himself permission to move on.
