Ned felt a sting in his hand as Arthur Dayne knocked the sword from his grip. He looked up at the Sword of the Morning. He felt the chill of impending death. Arthur raised his blade to strike him down, but before his blade could meet flesh. Ned watched as his opponent's head exploded. Metal and flesh sprayed out, as a war hammer caved into the back of his skull. "Stay down you cunt!" Robert roared vulgarly as he continued to slam his hammer down on Arthur's head even as it turned into paste.

Ned watched as Robert was hunched over, out of breath after killing the legendary swordsman. Ned then looked around in disbelif seeing most of his men dead. Only he, Howland and Robert remain. So many good men dead, the Sword of the morning lived up to his name till the bitter end.

SCREAMING.

The howling wails of pain echoed from the dornish tower bringing Ned back to reality. "Sister?" Ned said under his breath in worry. He didn't even wait for Robert to recover or Howland to follow behind. Ned raced his way into the small fortress, sword in hand. "Lyanna!?" Ned called out in horror as her cries continued to echo through the halls, reaching his ears. "Where is my sister!?" he demanded as he burst his way through the room at the top. He seeing several midwives standing by a bed. Ned's heart then fell as he looked past the women and seeing his sister.

"Ned?"

"Lyanna?"

Lyanna laid almost motionless as the midwives parted for him. Blood had poured out from between her legs staining the sheets. As Ned made his way over dropping his sword, Lyanna looked up with dim lite eyes. "Is that you?" she asked her vision blurred and weak.

"Is that really you?" Lyanna asked as Ned came to her side. He was barely a shadow in her vision. "You're not a dream?"

"No I'm not a dream," Ned said taking his sister hand. "Im here. right here," he says holding her hand tightly showing her he is truly real.

"I've missed you big brother," she said with a weak smile.

"I missed you too."

Lyanna began to sob hearing as the pain was overwhelming. "I want to be brave," she chokes out.

"You are," he argued but Lyanna shook her head.

"I'm not," she coughs out. "I don't want to die."

"You're not goig to die," Ned said tears welling in his own eyes seeing her like this feeling her hand weaken in his grasp. "Get her some water! Is there a maester?!" Ned pleaded to the midwives that watched. They already knew it was too late for her and could only watch sorrowfully.

"Listen to me ned," Lyanna called to Ned knowing there wasn't much time left for her. Ned then leaned his head down as she pulled him in close she whispering in his ear. "His name... is Aegon Targaryen," she says as her breath hitches and her heart slows. "If Robert finds out he will kill him you know he will."

Ned could barely hold back his tears hearing his sister's dying words. "Promise me, Ned... promise me," she begged as she began to fall back on the bed. Ned wanted to plead and pray to the gods the old gods and the new to spare her.

Just as Lyanna repeated her final words "Promise me," Ned watched as the midwife approached a small bundle in her arms. The newborn babe let out a small soft cry as he was brought into Ned's arms. "Promise me." was the last words Ned heard as Lyanna passed and her baby was given to him. Those kept echoing to him. "Promise me... promise me... promise me."

"Ned! Lyanna!" Robert's voice finally broke through to Ned as he looked up seeing the hulking man that would be king. Ned held the baby his sister's child to his chest.

"Robert?" Ned called out the man's name but he said nothing. Robert stood there stunned into silence as he looked upon the woman that he loved. His hammer fell with a loud bang from his grip as he stumbled forth seeing his dead love. Robert collapsed onto his knees next to her. He reached out and touched Lyanna's face brushing the loose hair away to look upon her. Soon his silence was replaced with rage. "What... what have you done!?" he roared as the midwife that handed Ned the child was grabbed by the throat. Robert lifted her in the air nearly choking her ready to snap her neck.

"Put her down!" Ned shouted back. "She did nothing wrong!" Ned said hoping his words would reach his friend.

The woman gasped her breath labored as her vision grew dark. Robert growled and gritted his teeth feeling the woman going limp. But soon the words Ned spoke finally reached him and he let the woman go. She collapsed to the ground unconscious. The other women in the room ran for their lives.

Robert then turned to Ned his eyes still red. Whether it was tears or rage Ned did not know. But as Robert looked at his friend his eyes traveled down to the bundle in his arms. "What is that?" he asked seeing the small babe waddled in cloth.

Ned felt his heart sink. What was he to say? What could he do? "It... this ... is your son," Ned said thinking of any way to pacify and stay his friend's hand.

Robert stepped forth and looked down at the child in Ned's arms. "This boy... is mine?" Robert spoke out in disbelief. Ned clutched the child tightly protectively but as Robert reached out to take the child Ned could do nothing but watch.

Robert swaddled the baby in his arms. He gazed at the small boy's face. "My son," Robert said tears now freely rolling down his cheek. "My little boy..." he whispered holding the child even closer but with gentleness, Ned has never seen before. "Does he have a name?" he asked wondering if any last words were parted from Lyanna's lips.

"Jon... Jon Baratheon," Ned spoke out the lie that could shape a kingdom.
