It's been a few years since the defeat of the Sith Lord. Obi-Wan Kenobi was now fourteen, but he still had a dark feeling in his mind that the dark side will still come back to the world that he knows. Obi-Wan sighed as he sat at his desk. His master Mace Windu was out doing something not that Obi-Wan minded he liked being alone but today something felt off. Obi-Wan didn't know what he was though. Once Mace gets back, he has to tell him. Obi-Wan stretched and stood up. "I should go for a walk that will help," he told himself. Obi-Wan walked out of his room and let out a shaky breath when he felt it. Something was off about the force. Obi-Wan shook his head and walked out of the room.
It was a quiet afternoon at the temple but Obi-Wan didn't care. He smiled when he saw the younglings run down the hall. Even though he didn't get a chance to grow up here he wasn't jealous. Younglings don't know the dark side. They know it's bad, but they don't know what it's really like. Obi-Wan had to learn that the hard way. Obi-Wan let out a shaky breath as he felt it again. He walked over to a wall and braced himself. It wasn't the Dark side clawing at him again. No this was something different, lighter in the force. Obi-Wan never felt this before. Sure, he felt the light side but never this light.
"Are you alright? Padawan Kenobi?" Obi-Wan looked up and saw an older Jedi with long brown hair and confusion and worry in his eyes. Obi-Wan nodded as he tried to remember this Jedi's name. Master Qui-Gon Jinn, that's right.
"Yes. Just catching my breath," Obi-Wan answered removing his hand from the wall. Qui-Gon however didn't say anything as he crossed his arms.
"You feel it too. That bright side of the force," this was not a question and both of them knew it. Obi-Wan however nodded anyway.
"Yes, I never felt anything like it before. I was going to tell my master about it when he gets back," Obi-Wan answered. "However, I think he already knows," he added running his hand over his chin. Qui-Gon smiled at the wise fourteen-year-old. However, his smile dropped when he remembered why he was so wise.
"Knowing him, I think he does," Qui-Gon laughed a little making Obi-Wan smile.
"I should get going," Obi-Wan said as he started to walk down the hall again. Qui-Gon hummed as he watched the young teen leave.
Mace smiled to himself as he left the Jedi council room. There was a new Jedi born and he was strong in the force. He could not wait to tell Obi-Wan that they were tasked to check up on them. Mace didn't want anything bad happening to this child. They can't take any chances if Maul is still around. Even if they haven't heard from him in a while. "Obi-Wan?" Mace called as he walked into their shared apartment. "Obi-Wan? Are you here?" Mace called as he walked to Obi-Wan's room. He didn't see him, however. "Must be out for a walk?" Mace asked himself as he sat down on his chair. He let out a sigh. He was glad his Padawan was getting out and maybe meeting new Jedi. He has friends but something was off with him sometimes when he saw the younglings.
"Hello, Master," Obi-Wan said walking in with a small smile on his face. Mace smiled at him but it dropped when he saw something in his Padawan's eyes.
"What is it, Obi-Wan?'" Mace asked standing up. Obi-Wan shook his head.
"There's a brightness in the force but I feel a darkness as well. It's small but it's there," Obi-Wan said running his hand over his face. Mace nodded. However, he didn't say anything for he was trying to word their new mission which was related to this brightness in the force.
"I know. I felt it too. We are going on a mission to see what this is. It could be a bright new Jedi and we need to find them beforeā¦
"Before anyone else does," Obi-Wan finished. There was a darkness in his eyes. Mace hasn't seen that since he was twelve. He was not worried though. Obi-Wan was passed that. "Master, when and where are we headed?" Obi-Wan asked making his way into the kitchen. Mace smiled a little before he said:
"Tatooine," Mace said as he joined Obi-Wan in the kitchen.
