Everyone had always told Bulma that her daughter was like a younger version of her, but she never realized just how true that statement was until Gohan's fifth wedding anniversary.
Bulma watched from the mirror as Bulla, dressed in a summery peach dress, spun in clumsy circles to showcase her outfit to the family. Her handsome son, who had been patiently leaning against the wall, attempted to maintain his composure and hid his amused smile behind a hand when the child stumbled with dizziness.
Noting the numerous strands of blue hair escaping Bulla's clip, however, Bulma wanted to sigh. It had taken her ages to make her daughter's hair look perfect, and now the effect was ruined.
Bulla must have noted the same thing, because she blew at the strands animatedly, hoping to push them away from her face. When her technique did not work, however, she did what she had learned was the best solution to all of her problems. She waddled over to her grumpy daddy and pouted. Instead of pushing her away like he did everyone else, Vegeta took her by the shoulders and pulled her closer. And although it was completely uncharacteristic of him, it was a perfectly normal experience for Bulla. He simply removed the clip from the toddler's hair, ruffling it slightly before patting her head and leaning back onto the sofa.
Bulma could hardly believe the stark differences in how her husband treated her son and daughter. While Trunks was often the subject of harsh treatment from his father, Bulla was the apple of his eye. Bulma could hardly recall one instance where the Saiyan prince had pushed his daughter to train, whereas Trunks had hardly spent a day after learning to walk without the severe pressure to become a better fighter. Although both children worshipped him, Trunks had learned to maintained a certain distance from his father whereas Bulla rarely let go of his hand. Even now, it had been a battle, getting Bulla to let go of her father's hand while getting strapped into the child seat at the back of the car.
It never ceased to baffle Bulma.
It was hard to believe that the cold man who insulted her and her son on a daily basis was the same person who had spoiled her daughter. She supposed that it was a Saiyan thing, but sometimes, the open disparity made her want to cry for her poor mistreated son. Sometimes, she could even say that she was jealous of her daughter. Vegeta had never treated her as affectionately as he did Bulla. His eyes, cold and calculating around her, always softened a little when their daughter entered the room. It was like he was a totally different person when it came to Bulla. And sometimes Bulma wished that she had married Bulla's father instead of the Saiyan prince - because clearly, the former was not her Vegeta.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Bulma observed her daughter, who was excitedly explaining some sort of game to an equally energized Pan. Her daughter really was growing up to look a lot like her, she admitted to herself. Since clearly she was not keen on following her father's footsteps and becoming a warrior so far, perhaps she would take over Capsule Corporation when she grew up. The image of Bulla running her father's company twenty years down the road was enough to put a smile on her face. But then again, Bulma was not too sure that she wanted to see her darling daughter grow up. That would mean that she would fall in love and get married someday, and Bulma was not sure if she would ever be willing to part with her children. She just wanted time to freeze, because this was perfect.
She had no idea how Chi-Chi dealt with it all. For the majority of her life, her husband had been away, and then Gohan had gotten married and moved out. With Goten at school for half the day, and Goku training incessantly, it was a wonder that Chi-Chi had survived. But then again, Bulma reconsidered as she stared at the blissful couple and their smiling young daughter, maybe it's worth it.
She sighed pleasantly as she saw Gohan shyly kiss his blushing wife after cutting the cake. Even now, it seemed that the two were uncomfortable with revealing their affections for each other, and it made Bulma want to fawn at them even more. It seemed like just yesterday, Gohan was the little boy who got kidnapped by Raditz. "I can't believe it's already been five years since Gohan got married," she whispered in wonder to her aloof husband, who merely grunted in response.
Bulma felt something pull at her red dress, and looked down to see a mirror image of her childhood stare up at her with wide eyes. "What's a married?" asked the innocent child.
"Well, Bulla," Bulma spoke with sparkling eyes, "A marriage is like a union between two people who love each other very much and want to spend the rest of their lives together."
The little girl's mouth shaped into an 'o' with comprehension. "So Uncle Gohan and Auntie Videl love each other?"
"That's right! And someday, when you find the person you'll love the most in the world, you'll get married too!" Although I hope that day takes its sweet time to come along.
"I wanna' get married now!" her daughter loudly claimed with a clap of her hands, unknowingly garnering her grumpy father's attention.
"What?" asked Bulma, feeling somewhat surprised. She laughed uncomfortably. Coming from her young child, the statement that was hardly expected, especially considering how Bulla had hardly met any males specimens in the course of her lifetime - other than those who were attending the party.
As she scanned the room, she noted that the youngest boy was Goku's younger son. A wicked series of thoughts found their way into her mind as she imagined Goten as her son-in-law. They grow up so fast, she thought fondly. Oddly enough, she approved of the potential couple enthusiastically, although she doubted that her husband would feel the same way.
"Who are you going to marry, Bulla?" she urged, hoping to hear a confession from her young daughter. Easily reading her thoughts, her husband countered her grin with an annoyed glare.
Bulla's response, however, put a cocky smile on the Saiyan prince's face while effectively making Bulma's jaw drop. Her daughter truly was a carbon copy of her – they even shared the same taste in men!
"I wanna' marry daddy!"

A/N: I had no clue what Bulla should call Gohan/Videl given the huge age difference so I stuck with Uncle/Auntie. Hopefully this chapter amused you like I intended. And thank you all so much for your lovely reviews!
Kakarot Son – I'm glad you're enjoying what I write. I'm hoping to write a little bit about every major couple in the story (inspiration will take me where it will though). But hopefully, when I get to Gohan/Videl, it'll be something that'll potentially make us both giggle. =)
Yaji's Girl, Cara2012 – I'm definitely going to continue with the Bulma/Vegeta marriage thing from last chapter (working on it right now and hopefully it'll be up by next chapter) so stay tuned! =D
The gangsta of love - Thank you. =). And about Goku/Chi-Chi; Your wish is my command! (I have some Goku/Chi-Chi plot bunnies running around in my head, I just have to put them into writing one of these days.)
GCTIGERFAN1, SmileSusieQ, dbzfan – Thank you. Seriously, I appreciate your comments. =)
